  I have the need to configure a Windows XP Embedded system in order to dismiss modal MessageBoxes with a default reply. I am aware of the EnableDefaultReply feature but I need to be more selective on which MessageBoxes to dismiss or select the default reply on some criteria (example: name of the window). My biggest problem right now is that: If do not enable the EnableDefaultReply feature: some background services pop up dialogboxes which are never dismissed and block the application If I enable the EnableDefaultReply feature: I am no longer able to logon to the system if another user is logged in (a MessageBox popups asking if you want to steal the logon and the default answer is NO). Do you have any experience you can share with this problem?

  I finally convinced upper management that we need a computer replacement plan, and I've been tasked with making an inventory of what we have and determining what needs to be replaced this year, next year, the year after, etc. I had to use some sort of criteria to back up my recommendations, so I decided to try using the Windows Experience Index. I've determined the CPU and Memory scores for all of our desktops and servers using community data. I also feel fairly successful in assigning a WEI score to each user based on their computing needs. I'm struggling with assigning a WEI score to the various servers that we have: file server, database server, Exchange server, backup server (for doing backups), web server. Suggestions would be appreciated.

  I am looking for a solution to backup and consolidate important media from a couple Windows laptops and Mac laptop. I would like a solutions that based on open standards, so my data isn't trapped by proprietary formats and proprietary protocols. I would like the ability to switch clients or change providers in the future. For example, something like Jungle Disk plus S3 sounds like a great option. However, I am having trouble confirming how or if this can be setup meeting this criteria. Are there any real or de-facto standards for treating S3 as a filesystem? If so, what Windows and Mac clients support these standards?

We'd like to publish everything in one place. The main thing that stops us is access control - the wikis in place don't belong to us and we can't do it.   I have some filters in Windows Live Mail that I'm trying to port to thunderbird without success. It seems Thunderbird filter is very limited. Here is an ex of a filter i'm trying to recreate: Apply this rule after the message arrives Where the From line contains '[email protected]' or '[email protected]' or 'Programa TAM Fidelidade' and Where the message body contains 'esteja visualizando' and 'por ser cadastrado no Programa TAM Fidelidade' Move it to the Deleted items folder and Stop processing more rules In Thunderbird I can´t combine a list of "or"s with some "and"s, because it only allows you to select "message matches ALL of the criteria below" or "ANY of the below". Am I missing something or it really is very limited?

Or, to put it another way, imagine the design requirements for Hulu Desktop or XBMC or WMC, applied to a web browser. Opera on a Wii meets most of these criteria but not being HD wastes a lot of potential. If a single solution doesn't exist, is there some combination of Firefox add-ons that will get me there?

  I just ordered the Dell Studio XPS 16 with i7 and 16" RGBLED screen. This upgrade from WLED LCD to RGBLED LCD charged me more $$. But now when I view the order online, it lists this part as "320-8335 Premium FHD WLED Display, Obsidian Black, 2.0 MP Webcam". When called Dell, the rep says this part is RGBLED screen and the "premium" is for RGBLED. I want to make sure they are shipping me the RGBLED screen and not the WLED. Is there any way to verify this after I receive (either from Device Manager or BIOS or somewhere in system settings)? Also, is there any published specifications / criteria that we can run (some third party software) on this monitor which can tell if this is WLED or RGBLED?

  I've been looking for a while but I'd like to to implement a vpn solution for anywhere from 1-5 employees at a time (possibly 10 in a year or so) edit: Basically I would like outside users to fire up a client or open a web page and be able to access things inside the company network (share drives / printers/ webapps /etc) I've looked at Astaro Gateway but im not sure if that's the right tool for the job. • Recommendation for Wiki that supports WYSIWYG?

  Currently we use a MediaWiki installation for writing documentation, but several of us find the markup format horribly arbitrary and awkward, with a mixture of Wiki tags and XML in the text, and the lack of any quick formatting buttons for things like ordered or unordered lists, different heading levels, quick embedding of images, tables, code samples, etc. Sites like LiveJournal provide most or all of this while still generating backwards-compatible markup so it's not like there's a technological impediment here. There are other niceties that we'd like to see, such as being able to pick a category from a list (ala Wordpress) or maybe being able to apply syntax highlighting to code samples, etc. Do Wikis exist that provide a decent range of these features to make life easier on the editor? Something with the features and presentation of WordPress but the page organisation of a Wiki would be perfect. (WikiMatrix returns several candidates, but among them is MediaWiki, which quite clearly is not a WYSIWYG interface except in the most tenuous fashion. I'd rather not dig through each one if it's plain that WikiMatrix is not being entirely stringent about its criteria.)

Let's say I got this header in my response on Thu, 13 Jan 2011 18:43:35 GMT: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2011 18:43:35 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Content-Language: en X-Powered-By: Servlet/2.5 JSP/2.1 Keep-Alive: timeout=15 Connection: Keep-Alive Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 There's no cache directive, no last-modified field, no expires field. How will the ISA server decide for how long to cache this response?

  Hello, I have used Gpg4Win in the past along with FireGPG to have encryption on my emails. I am needing to roll this out to quite a few more people and was wondering if anyone else had some products they preferred better. The criteria I need is free and as user friendly as possible. I looked at MailCloak but I have had some issues with it on 1 of the 2 computers I've been testing on. It seems like it might work pretty well as a overall solution but on my computer I keep getting "Identity cannot be created." and not sure whats going on with that. Thanks for the info.

  I have a Word VBA macro that loops through a directory and writes down the file path of files selected for some criteria into a new Word document. • Advanced (?) Excel sorting

  First of all, I'd like to admit that I don't really know anything about Excel, but I have tried to look up a solution to this in Excel books and Googling. Here's what I'm trying to do: I have a really long spreadsheet There are 7 columns total, but only two columns that I'm most interested in. Here's an example CSV that is much more simple than my actual dataset, but the search/sort is analogous: John, Apple Dave, Apple Dave, Orange Steve, Apple Steve, Orange Steve, Kiwi Bob, Apple Bob, Banana I'm interested in extracting the entire rows (all of the columns) that meet the following criteria: ["Apple"] OR ["Apple" and "Orange"] NOT ["Apple" and "Orange" and Anything Else] NOT ["Apple" and Anything that isn't Orange] So with the above CSV, I would get the entire rows for John and Dave, but not Steve and not Bob. I started doing this manually, and will likely finish by the time this question has an answer, but I would like to know this for future reference. Thanks!

• How to Suppress Repetition of Warnings That an Application Was Downloaded From the Internet on Mac OS X?

  On Mac OS X, when I run Firefox (and Thunderbird, and ...) which I downloaded from Mozilla, the OS pops up a warning that the file was downloaded over the internet, giving the date on which it was downloaded. I have no problem with that warning on the first time I use a downloaded application - but the repeated warnings are a nuisance. Is there a way to suppress that dialogue box? Is there a way to avoid it appearing in the first place? (Some applications I download from a corporate intranet - those don't produce the equivalent warning; any idea what the criteria are for when the warning is generated?)

• CentOS - Yum doesn't update anymore?

  I've been trying to use yum now, but for some reason, not even the search work anymore. I even tried putting packages I already downloaded in the search criteria and is the same.   I am going to install and administrate a virtual server for a small university. The server should run inside a virtual machine (VirtualBox OSE). It is only used in the university network and is invisible to the outside world. It should run Apache web server for PHP, MySQL and probably a mail server. I don't know which OS to use. Main criteria for choosing include ease of administration and updating, package management and performance. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions? And candidate OSs are: Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, Slackware, FreeBSD, OpenSolaris. Add any other OS if you know any better alternatives.
