  I am implementing a question-and-answer application with Ruby on Rails. I have MVCs for Questions and Answers. In the home view (index.haml), I list the Questions like this: - @questions.each do |q| %tr %td =link_to q.title, q Next to each of those, I want to add a link that will create a new Answer and pass the id of the Question in that row (continued from the above Haml code) : %td #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, pass q.id here somehow?} I don't know how to properly pass it and then access it in AnswersController. I tried #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, :question_id => q.id}, but that was just a guess, and I don't know how to access that in AnswersController. I read the Rails API docs, and I know you can add query, too, but I still don't know how to access the value in AnswersController.

  I have a method and I want different users to pass me xml files. These files will have different names for the elements I am looking for and the elements I am looking for maybe at different structures. My first impression was that we should just tell them to pass in the xml in a standard format. However this is how they have their data and they insist that it is much easier if they don't have to convert it. What can I do to take in data of all types?   I am using Grails Webflow, what ever object I pass to a view, it must be Serialized. My domain models "implement Serializable", so they work. The problem is when I get a response from a WebService. It is of the org.json.JSONArray class. I just want to pass the whole Array over to the view yet it doesn't implement Serializable, so it fails, Any thoughts on how I can pass this, or my best option? Can I just edit the source of the org.json library and make every class "imp Serializable"? Or process the result into Domain objects that do "imp Serializable"

  How do I get around Inconsistant accessibilty error in C # ? I need to pass a pointer to a node in a linked list to a method. When I do, I get a "Compiler Error CS0051" Example The following sample generates CS0051: Copy Code // CS0051.cs public class A { // Try making B public since F is public // B is implicitly private here class B { } public static void F(B b) // CS0051 { } public static void Main() { } } That is a simple example. The actual program is a bit more complicated. I am actually using a node in a linked list to pass to the method LinkedListNode node The method uses recursion because the node is mart of a huge linked list structure of linked lists that outputs an xml file. Either I have to find a way to use recursion without using methods or I need to find a way to pass pointers nodes or actual nodes.

  hi, I've hard time to make Drupal work on IIS Microsoft server. I've succesfully run Joomla on the same server so I'm pretty sure the following information are correct: host: localhost user: user pass: pass databaseName = servername_databasename I've set the following line in settings.php file: $db_url = 'mysql://user:password@localhost/servername_databasename'; but what I get is this: If you are the maintainer of this site, please check your database settings in the settings.php file and ensure that your hosting provider's database server is running. For more help, see the handbook, or contact your hosting provider. I don't get any other error message such as: database doesn't exist, user/pass wrong.. just this. The database is running, I can access with phpmyadmin. I've tried both "mysql" and "mysqli". The host is a private server (IIS Microsoft), the database is Mysql The database and website files upload have also been succesfull.. so I dunno what to do to fix this issue. thanks

• Malloc to a CGPoint Pointer throwing EXC_BAD_ACCESS when accessing

  I am trying to use a snippet of code from a Apple programming guide, and I am getting a EXC_BAD_ACCESS when trying to pass a pointer to a function, right after doing a malloc. (For Reference: iPhone Application Programming Guide: Event Handling - Listing 3-6) The code in question is really simple: CFMutableDictionaryRef touchBeginPoints; UITouch *touch; .... CGPoint *point = (CGPoint *)CFDictionaryGetValue(touchBeginPoints, touch); if (point == NULL) { point = (CGPoint *)malloc(sizeof(CGPoint)); CFDictionarySetValue(touchBeginPoints, touch, point); } Now when the program goes into the if statement it assigns the 'output' of malloc into the point variable/pointer. Then when it tries to pass point into the CFDictionarySetValue function it crashes the application with: Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”. Someone suggested not doing the malloc and pass the point var/pointer as: &point, however that still gave me a EXC_BAD_ACCESS. What I am (and it looks like Apple) doing wrong??? Thanks in advance.

  I have a remote service that I need to access, according to the documentation it's restricted using basic authentication and all requests have to be posted (HTTP POST). • datetime command line argument in python 2.4

  I want to pass a datetime value into my python script on the command line. My first idea was to use optparse and pass the value in as a string, then use datetime.strptime to convert it to a datetime. This works fine on my machine (python 2.6), but I also need to run this script on machines that are running python 2.4, which doesn't have datetime.strptime. How can I pass the datetime value to the script in python 2.4? • JSF, How to set a property in a different page/backing bean and then navigate to that page?

  I am using JSF 2.0 and attempting to pass values between different pages in my App. The setup is as follows: I have a page called userSelect that has a backing bean userSelectBacking. On this page I display a list of users that can be selected and submit using an h:commandbutton, when the page is submit the navigation goes to a userEdit page. I have a page called userEdit, that has a backing bean userEditBacking which displays the information for a user and allows that user to be edited. I would like to pass the user selected from the userSelect page into the userEdit page. I am currently using f:setPropertyActionListener to set the user in my userEdit backing from the userSelect page, however when I navigate to the userEdit page, it loses the information I set. is there a way that I can pass the values between the two pages/backing beans? thanks

IEnumerable returned = anotherMethodWhichWantsAnIEnumerable(someStreamAsIEnumerable); ... } One way is to read the entire Stream, convert it to an Array of bytes and pass it in, as Array implements IEnumerable.   What is the correct (recommended method) for passing information to a view in a MVC environment. Currently we use Zend Framework, where we write classes to handle specific things EG a Book class with a save and load method to retrieve info from the DB, which is called from a particular nameAction(). What I would like to know is what is the best way to pass this information to the view, in some cases we do $this-view-book_name = $book-getBookName(); and in other cases we do the following $this-view-book = $book; OR $this-view-books = Book_Manager::getAllBooks(); and then access the object(s) properties in the view. Information on-line suggests we try limit what access a view has to information, i.e pass them only what they need and in some cases people say its ok to pass stuff through as long as nothing is done to that information.   In a C function declaration, I have seen this parameter definition: void *userData so, what exactly is that? My guess: the void says it can be anything arbitrary, or even nothing. Almost similar to id of objective-c. It just allows to pass in whatever data structure you like. The star in front of userData says, that the argument must be passed in by reference. So when using this stuff in the function body, typically it must be casted and dereferenced. So if I pass in an pointer to SomeClass instance, I would get that like this: SomeClass *myObj = (SomeClass*)userData; In the case I had nothing special to pass along, I would provide NULL as argument. Are my assumptions correct? Or did I get something wrong?
