  • apply style to range of text with javascript in uiwebview

    I am displaying some simple styled text as html in a UIWebView on iPhone. It is basically a series of paragraphs with the occasional strong or emphasized phrase. At runtime I need to apply styles to ranges of text. There are a few similar scenarios, one of which is highlighting search results. If the user has searched for "something" I would like to change the background color behind occurrences of the word, then later restore the original background. Is it possible to apply styles to ranges of text using javascript? A key part of this is also being able to unset the styles. There seem to be two likely paths to follow. One would be modifying some html in Objective-C and passing it through javascript as the new innerHTML of some container. The other would be to use javascript to directly manipulate DOM nodes. I could manipulate html, but that sounds tedious in Objective-C so I would rather manipulate the DOM if that is a reasonable approach. I am not that familiar with javascript and DOM so I do not know if it is a reasonable approach. I wrote some routines to translate between text ranges and node ranges with offsets. So if I start with text range 100-200 and that starts in one paragraph and ends in a third, I can get the text nodes and the offsets within the nodes that represent the given text range. I just need a way to split a text node at an offset in the text. Currently I just apply styles to the paragraphs containing the text range. A few notes: straight javascript please, no external frameworks like jquery. the changes never need to be written to disk. the changes should be undoable or at least removable. the styles to apply already exist in a css file. it needs to work in iPhone 3.0 and forward. all the source files are shipped with the app. please be verbose.   • jQuery Form plugin - no data from file upload?

    I've been struggling a bit with the jQuery Form plugin. I want to create a file upload form that posts the data (JSON, from the chosen file) into a REST service exposed by a servlet. The URL for the POST is calculated from what the user chooses in a SELECT dropdown. When the upload is complete, I want to notify the user immediately, AJAX-style. The problem is that the POST header has a Content-Length of 0 and contains no data.   • Jquery validator plugin- Validates at least one in the group

When I use that method to validated that the user input at least one from 3 input text boxes. It validates the field, but the other items to be validated is ignored specially the items before 3 input text boxes.

    Hi! I'm trying to compose two videos, and I'm using the alpha plug-in to make the white color transparent. To test the alpha plug-in I'm creating the pipeline with gst-launch.   • Why is my Quicktime plugin transport bar black?

    For some reason when watching quicktime moves in firefox the transport bar is completely black. I can still use it to fast forward and rewind but I can't actually see any of the buttons. Any clue how to fix this? I've updated to the latest version of quicktime but it didn't help. I've also verified that this behavior is the same in both firefox and chrome.

  • Flash plugin locks up Firefox, Chrome and Safari behind a corporate proxy, IE6 works fine

    At work I am forced by corporate policy to use IE6. Obviously this is not so good so I use FF for most of my browsing. However there is a problem once I have installed the Flash plug-in - FF locks up when trying to load Flash media. Looking at the status bar at the time of the lock up it appears this happens when the browser tries to get cross domain data. The Flash Active X plug-in in IE does not suffer this issue. I have tried it in a brand new profile in FF with Flash as the only plug in and it locks up. We have 2 different proxy servers and both exhibit the same problem. I have also tried Chrome and Safari and both lock up with the plug-in installed. So, has anyone else had this problem and solved it? Or, is there any way to disable cross domain data access in the flash plug-in? Or, is there any way to disable the "This site needs an additional plug-in" ribbon which appears when the plug-in is not installed. Many thanks!

    I've installed an Wordpress from Debian Wheezy package system and the plugins folder appears to be broken. As stated in the error log files of Apache2: [error] File does not exist: /var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/var The plugins are looking for an URL based on the full path, and not on the relative path. I can "temporary fix" the problem making a symbolic link to /var on the plugins folder, but I know that this is wrong and dirty. I don't know where to start debugging this. So any help is welcome.   • Ubuntu 12.4 compiz - disable all compiz plugin - empty screen

    A friend of mine has installed on my new machine Ubuntu 10.4 (I have always been windows user and have no experience with Linux). I started to watch some tutorial about how to make 'Rotated Cube' using 'Compiz',but the cube appears in the form of a list (only two slides). I have thought this could be result of my video cards (only two - one from the processor and one from the motherboard) and they can not support this options. Anyway, I have decided to disable all compiz plugins and options because my friend has set some, and I started to think there is some misunderstanding between the plugins. After, that I got only empty screen(no menu, no icons, anything) and can do nothing. How to fix this? EDIT: When I remove the compiz stuffs (from the console), the menu is shown again. Then I install the compiz again (some of the effect are still not working). After restart or log out/in the menu is hidden again. I suppose that there are some settings that I've broken but they are saved somewhere in the system and remove the compiz do not deleted them and as a result they are activated after compiz is installed again and the PC is restarted?

    Despite what old SE questions state, the PDF software Okular can now write annotations directly to the PDF. This makes it very useful in conjunction with Docear for annotating academic literature. However, Docear imports annotations from the comments, rather than importing from highlighted text. In Okular, when you highlight text it can then be clicked to reveal a comments bubble, which is empty by default. Copying the highlighted text into the resulting bubble allows it to be imported into Docear, but this is laborious. How can I modify the highlight tool to automatically copy the highlighted text into the resulting comment bubble?

  • Ignore mapping when in text input box

    I have AutoHotkey set up in a way that is recognises Cmd-Left and Cmd-Right keystrokes as back/forward navigation in Chrome. Problem is that it also recognises those keys being pressed while I am entering text in textboxes. However when entering text, I'd would like those key combinations to carry out different function - jump to beginning/end of the line, similar to Ctrl-Left/Right. Is there a way to have one mapping working for text boxes and another mapping for everything else in AutoHotkey?
