  • Zend framework helper intellisense

    Not so much a programming problem, but more a productivity problem. We've got quite a few custom view and action helpers in our project. Working with around 7 programmers. Now when someone, creates a helper or if one would want to use a helper, it all goes through the brokers. This means we do not get intellisense for those helpers, which can be real time consuming, having to go look in the docs or the code files. This is ofcourse true for both build in and custom helpers. Does any1 share this pain? Does any1 have a solution for this?

  • WCF RIA Services v1.0 Timeouts

    I have a RIA service methods which return quite a large amount of (binary) data to my silverlight application. The methods themselves (database access etc) complete quickly, but since I upgraded to v1.0 from the RC2 I've been experiencing timeouts, even when I limit the data returned to the smallest objects. Debug shows the method returning, then 20-30 seconds later the silverlight "method complete" event will fire. There is not enough data to cause that much lag. Could anyone suggest why this might be? I've been unable to find any breaking changes documentation specific to the RC2 = 1.0 upgrade. Trying to eliminate any other possible causes also, but this is literally a case of worked before the install, doesn't work now! (also upgraded silverlight 4 tools for vs).

    How do I go about getting the isapi_rewrite working on IIS 6.0? My shared hosting account supports ISAPI_Rewrite - I've run the provided tests to confirm. I'm only able to access the index page of my Zend PHP project, but get the 404 error for other actions in my index controller class definition. I've basically placed the code: [ISAPI_Rewrite] RepeatLimit 20 RewriteRule (?!\.(js|ico|gif|jpg|png|css|swf))$ index.php in an httpd.ini access file in my wwwroot directory. Is there anything I'm missing?

    I'm attempting to implement a repository pattern with my poco objects auto generated from my edmx. In my repository class, I have: IObjectSet<E> _objectSet; private IObjectSet<E> objectSet { get { if (_objectSet == null) { _objectSet = this._context.CreateObjectSet<E>(); } return _objectSet; } } public IQueryable<E> GetQuery(Func<E, bool> where) { return objectSet.Where(where).AsQueryable<E>(); } public IList<E> SelectAll(Func<E, bool> where) { return GetQuery(where).ToList(); } Where E is the one of my POCO classes. When I trace the database and run this: IList<Contact> c = contactRepository.SelectAll(r => r.emailAddress == "[email protected]"); It shows up in the sql trace as a select for everything in my Contact table. Where am I going wrong here? Is there a better way to do this? Does an objectset not lazy load... so it omitted the where clause?     I have been intensively studying and use ef4 in my project. I do feel the improvement that it has over version 1. But I found that I have something I cannot get around easily. Here is a list I want it to be better in ef vNext. the model designer should allow multiple view of the same model, so that I don't need cram all my entity into a single view. respect user's manual edit of edmx. Currently, the some database view object simply can not be imported to the model because the designer "smartly" think that the view does not have a primary key, so that I have to manually edit the edmx to correct designer's behavior. But in the next "update from database" task, designer will revert my customization. For now, I simply fallback to manually edit the edmx file at all, or I have to use compare tool to keep the new update, and rollback and put the new update into my old edmx file manually. Designer should be improved to allow default behavior and user's manual control. I want control not to let the designer refresh the change of imported object. support user defined table function. linq is about Composability, stored proc dos not support composability. I wish I could use user defined table function which support this. What are you wishes for EF vNext?

    Hello! I am trying to get a feel for the costs imposed by running apache on AWS continually. Assuming that the service is scarcely used, does anyone know how many cpu hours that would eat up in a month just by sitting there and running? I understand that this is slightly impractical but I am trying to figure out what the cost of entry is to deploy an application on this platform (as compared to GAE).   • Producing a Form from an Overlay from Reporting Services rdlc Reports

    I am not sure what you call it in other technologies, on the IBM i (or iSeries) we call it overlays. The overlay is an image of a form that is stored on the server then a program generates the form with fields from the database so you can eliminate preprinted forms. I had a problem last year with the method I was trying at the time. It was a rush job at the time to be revisited at a later point. The work-around at the time was to export to PDF. So now it is "later" and once again is a rush (imagine that). This is all done through a web-based interface. So how do you generate forms from something that was once a preprinted form? What method do you recommend? This is a legal form and must be filled out a certain way and can have many in a batch (up to 50 or so). I would prefer to not have them print one page at a time. Any ideas would be appreciated!

    Hi, I am have two mining models, both are time series. One is [Company_Inputs] and the other is [Booking_Projections]. What I want to do is use EXTEND_MODEL_CASES to join the results of [Company_Inputs] as the extended cases. So basically something like: Select Flattened PredictTimeSeries([Bookings], 1, 6, EXTEND_MODEL_CASES) FROM [Booking_Projections] Natural Prediction Join (Select Flattened PredictTimeSeries([Metric1], 1, 6) From [Company_Inputs]) AS T This code of course doesn't work, but the idea is to use the predictions made from [Company_Inputs] as cases for predicting future values of [Booking_Projections] If anyone has an idea of how I can accomplish this I would appreciate it very much.

    I'm using the Zend Router and so things like (/ and /index.php) or (/about and /index.php/about) ends up as the same here. However, /index.php/whatever should not exist as it is the exactly same resource as /whatever so it doesn't make a sense the duplication. How do I avoid this? Even http://zendframework.com/manual/en/zend.controller.router.html and http://zendframework.com/index.php/manual/en/zend.controller.router.html both exists. It doesn't make any sense at all...

  • Reporting Services: Tablix RepeatColumnHeaders doesn't work on some reports

    So I've got various reports that consist of a DataSet rendered in a Tablix... pretty garden variety stuff. There is a property for the Tablix control named RepeatColumnHeaders, which I have set to True for each report in question. The explanation for this property states “Indicates whether column headers are repeated on each page on which part of the data region appear.” Sounds pretty straightforward, but on some reports it works and on others it does not. I can't seem to find what's different about the reports that might affect this. On one report where the headers do repeat, there is some fairly arcane grouping mojo, but in an example where it doesn't work the Tablix only has one level--no grouping. I would expect the multi-nested one to be the problem, not the flat one. Maybe it's a different problem altogether. I threw together a simple Tablix rendering SELECT * FROM Foo, accepted all the default values, which results in RepeatColumnHeaders being set to False, and lo and behold the column headers do repeat for that report... Grrr. Any insights greatly appreciated.

    I have found myself doing this in my code to 'cache' the work done when instantiating my Zend_Db_Table models: if (Zend_Registry::isRegistered('x_table')) { $x_table = Zend_Registry::get('x_table'); } else { $x_table = new Default_Model_DbTable_X; Zend_Registry::set('x_table', $x_table); } It bothered me that this method isn't very DRY and it dawned on me today that a singleton pattern would probably be a better way to do this. Problem is, I've never written a singleton class. When I did some web searches, I found some offhand comments about Zend_Db_Table singletons, but no real examples. I already have meta-data caching configured. How do I make my Zend_Db_Table models singletons? Are there pitfalls or downsides?

  • iPhone / NSArray : How do I format a text file to be read in using arrayWithContentsOfFile

    I have several large word lists and I had been loading them in place in the code as follows: NSArray *dict3 = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"abled",@"about",@"above",@"absurd",@"absurdity", ... but now it is actually causing an exc_bad_access error weirdly, i know it seems implausible but for some reason IT IS causing it. (trust me on this I just spend the better part of a day debugging this crap) Anyway, I'm looking to get these humongous lines of code out of my files but I'm not sure what the best approach is. I guess I could do a plist but I need to figure out how to automate the process. it be easiest if I could just use the text files I've been compiling so if anyone knows how I can format the text file so that the myArray = [NSArray arrayWithContentsOfFile: @"myTextFile.txt"]; will be read in correctly as one word per element in the array it would really be appreciated. The problem is , when the user.id is equal to ceritification.AId it returns a records eventhough it was not satisfied with the parameter supplied.   • command line tool text output

    I have a small command line tool and after running it, I'd like to display the text output in a way that's easy for someone to copy/paste and save it or email it to someone else. Copy/pasting from a command prompt is not done in the standard way, so I don't want people to have to copy/paste from there. Saving the file to disk is possible, but the folder where the tool is located may not have access rights so the user would have to configure the output file location (this may be too tricky for some users). I was thinking of launching notepad with some text in it, generated from the command line tool. Is this possible? Any other suggestions?
