  • Problems running Java SWT application. Is this something to do with 64 vs 32-bit libraries?

    - by ?????
    I'm getting started with SWT Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no swt-cocoa-3557 or swt-cocoa in swt.library.path, java.library.path or the jar file at org.eclipse.swt.internal.Library.loadLibrary(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.internal.Library.loadLibrary(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.internal.C.<clinit>(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.internal.cocoa.NSThread.isMainThread(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.graphics.Device.<init>(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.<init>(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.<init>(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.getDefault(Unknown Source) at com.astrobetty.getotagdesktop.MainUIWindow.main(MainUIWindow.java:110) I've carefully followed the directions here http://www.eclipse.org/swt/eclipse.php I can see libswt-awt-cocoa-3557.jnilib, libswt-cocoa-3557.jnilib, libswt-pi-cocoa-3557.jnilib clearly listed under "Referenced Libraries" in my Eclipse package explorer. Presumably, that should make them available on the classpath when I select the java module that contains "main" and do a "run as" application. What's the problem? I suspect it may be related to 64-bit vs 32-bit VMs....

  • ARM cortex: mutex using bit banding

    - by Jeff V
    Given that, on the ARM Cortex M3, I can: atomically read a single bit atomically set a single bit atomically clear a single bit How can I combine these for a mutex style set of operations: try lock take lock release lock It seems that try_lock or take_lock would require two operations that would not be atomic. Do I need more control to accomplish this? Disable global interrupts would do it but it seems there should be a more surgical approach.

  • Getting a specific bit value in a byte string

    - by ignoramus
    There is a byte at a specific index in a byte string which represents eight flags; one flag per bit in the byte. If a flag is set, its corresponding bit is 1, otherwise its 0. For example, if I've got b'\x21' the flags would be 0001 0101 # Three flags are set at indexes 3, 5 and 7 # and the others are not set What would be the best way to get each bit value in that byte, so I know whether a particular flag is set or not? (Preferably using bitwise operations)

  • Erlang bit indexing

    - by GTDev
    I am currently trying to learn erlang and what I am trying to do is to perform an operation on specific indices of an array stored in a bit array or int. If there is a 0 in a position, the index into the array at that position is not used. So envision the following: Example the array is: [1, 3, 5, 42, 23] My bit array is: 21 = 10101 in binary so I'm using indicies 1,3,5 so I'm calling a function on [1, 5, 23] my function is of the form my_function(Array, BitArray) -> SubArray = get_subarray_from_bitarray(Array, BitArray), process_subarray(SubArray). And I need help with the get_subarray_from_bitarray(). I know erlang has special syntax around bit strings (something like <<) so is there an efficient way of indexing into the bit array to get the indicies?

  • Files written with FileWriter are either 32 KB, 24 KB, 16 KB, ... big or empty

    - by Bernhard V
    Hi, I read a file into a string, change the first line and then write this string into a new file. I do this through the following code (a little bit shortened): while(jspIterator.hasNext()){ String line = (String) jspIterator.next(); if (i == 0) { if (line.startsWith("bla bla") && line.endsWith("yada")) { line = line.replaceFirst("this", "that"); } } jspAsString += line; i++; } FileWriter newJspWriter = new FileWriter(newJspFile); newJspWriter.write(jspAsString); Now the files written this way are either 32, 24, 16, 8 KByte big or completely empty. When debugging I see that the String is assembled correctly. When I print the variable jspAsString to the console it also appears correct. Do you know why FileWriter behaves this way?

  • How is the ">" operator implemented (on 32 bit integers)?

    - by Ron Klein
    Let's say that the environment is x86. How do compilers compile the "" operator on 32 bit integers. Logically, I mean. Without any knowledge of Assembly. Let's say that the high level language code is: int32 x, y; x = 123; y = 456; bool z; z = x > y; What does the compiler do for evaluating the expression x > y? Does it perform something like (assuming that x and y are positive integers): w = sign_of(x - y); if (w == 0) // expression is 'false' else if (w == 1) // expression is 'true' else // expression is 'false' Is there any reference for such information?

  • Unknown http requests of type http://<domain>/cache/<32-digit-alphanumeric-key>

    - by Siva Bathula
    I am getting a lot of incoming requests with this structure: //domain_name/cache/22092e9b25c40809dfb94b6179166b26. I am running a .NET 4.0 website served from IIS 7.5. A lot of these URLs have no referrer URLs and come in randomly with a different 32 digit alphanumeric key. And I do not have any resource like '.../cache/...' on my website. I just want to eliminate such requests and want to understand where these are coming from at all. Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I split up a long value (32 bits) into four char variables (8bits) using C?

    - by Jordan S
    I have a 32 bit long variable, CurrentPosition, that I want to split up into 4, 8bit characters. How would I do that most efficiently in C? I am working with an 8bit MCU, 8051 architectecture. unsigned long CurrentPosition = 7654321; unsigned char CP1 = 0; unsigned char CP2 = 0; unsigned char CP3 = 0; unsigned char CP4 = 0; // What do I do next? Should I just reference the starting address of CurrentPosition with a pointer and then add 8 two that address four times? It is little Endian. ALSO I want CurrentPosition to remain unchanged.

  • Comparing floats in their bit representations

    - by sczizzo
    Say I want a function that takes two floats (x and y), and I want to compare them using not their float representation but rather their bitwise representation as a 32-bit unsigned int. That is, a number like -495.5 has bit representation 0b11000011111001011100000000000000 or 0xC3E5C000 as a float, and I have an unsigned int with the same bit representation (corresponding to a decimal value 3286614016, which I don't care about). Is there any easy way for me to perform an operation like <= on these floats using only the information contained in their respective unsigned int counterparts?

  • Horizontally Flip a One Bit Bitmap Line

    - by roygbiv
    I'm looking for an algorithm to flip a 1 Bit Bitmap line horizontally. Remember these lines are DWORD aligned! I'm currently unencoding an RLE stream to an 8 bit-per-pixel buffer, then re-encoding to a 1 bit line, however, I would like to try and keep it all in the 1 bit space in an effort to increase its speed. Profiling indicates this portion of the program to be relatively slow compared to the rest. Example line (Before Flip): FF FF FF FF 77 AE F0 00 Example line (After Flip): F7 5E EF FF FF FF F0 00

  • How to reliably specialize template with intptr_t in 32 and 64 bit environments?

    - by vava
    I have a template I want to specialize with two int types, one of them plain old int and another one is intptr_t. On 64 bit platform they have different sizes and I can do that with ease but on 32 bit both types are the same and compiler throws an error about redefinition. What can I do to fix it except for disabling one of definitions off with preprocessor? Some code as an example: template<typename T> type * convert(); template<> type * convert<int>() { return getProperIntType(sizeof(int)); } template<> type * convert<intptr_t>() { return getProperIntType(sizeof(intptr_t)); } //this template can be specialized with non-integral types as well, // so I can't just use sizeof() as template parameter. template<> type * convert<void>() { return getProperVoidType(); }

  • How to convert a BufferedImage to 8 bit?

    - by Zach Sugano
    I was looking at the ImageConverter class, trying to figure out how to convert a BufferedImage to 8-bit color, but I have no idea how I would do this. I was also searching around the internet and I could find no simple answer, they were all talking about 8 bit grayscale images. I simply want to convert the colors of an image to 8 bit... nothing else, no resizing no nothing. Does anyone mind telling me how to do this.

  • How can I convert (string) timestamp to mysql datetime on Windows 32 bit PHP?

    - by user239619
    I'm attempting to call LinkedIn's API and store Network Updates. Each update has a Unix timestamp that I'm retrieving as a string variable from the REST XML response. I want to convert the string timestamp to a mysql datetime format. The date() function accepts an integer as the second argument for time to be converted. However, I'm on Windows 32 bit PHP and the integer type for this platform is limited to 2147483647. $timestamp = '1293714626675'; // sample pulled from linkedin $timestamp = (int) $timestamp; // timestamp now equals 2147483647 $mysqlDatetime = date('Y-m-d H:i:s', $timestamp); // produces incorrect time Is there a better method of creating the mysql datetime in PHP? I realize that I can convert it upon insert into MySQL however, that would require changing other dependent code.

I've tried using some sybase functions for this, but I'm getting different results and unsure of why: select hextobigint('0x000036ca4c4c11d88b8dcd1344cdb512') 3948051912944290701 select convert(bigint,0x000036ca4c4c11d88b8dcd1344cdb512) -2877434794219274240 what am I missing about convert and hextobigint? I must be misundstanding at least one of these functions. thanks for your help!

  • Linux buffer cache effect on IO writes?

    - by Patrick LeBoutillier
    I'm copying large files (3 x 30G) between 2 filesystems on a Linux server (kernel 2.6.37, 16 cores, 32G RAM) and I'm getting poor performance. I suspect that the usage of the buffer cache is killing the I/O performance. To try and narrow down the problem I used fio directly on the SAS disk to monitor the performance. Here is the output of 2 fio runs (the first with direct=1, the second one direct=0): Config: [test] rw=write blocksize=32k size=20G filename=/dev/sda # direct=1 Run 1: test: (g=0): rw=write, bs=32K-32K/32K-32K, ioengine=sync, iodepth=1 Starting 1 process Jobs: 1 (f=1): [W] [100.0% done] [0K/205M /s] [0/6K iops] [eta 00m:00s] test: (groupid=0, jobs=1): err= 0: pid=4667 write: io=20,480MB, bw=199MB/s, iops=6,381, runt=102698msec clat (usec): min=104, max=13,388, avg=152.06, stdev=72.43 bw (KB/s) : min=192448, max=213824, per=100.01%, avg=204232.82, stdev=4084.67 cpu : usr=3.37%, sys=16.55%, ctx=655410, majf=0, minf=29 IO depths : 1=100.0%, 2=0.0%, 4=0.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, >=64=0.0% submit : 0=0.0%, 4=100.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, 64=0.0%, >=64=0.0% complete : 0=0.0%, 4=100.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, 64=0.0%, >=64=0.0% issued r/w: total=0/655360, short=0/0 lat (usec): 250=99.50%, 500=0.45%, 750=0.01%, 1000=0.01% lat (msec): 2=0.01%, 4=0.02%, 10=0.01%, 20=0.01% Run status group 0 (all jobs): WRITE: io=20,480MB, aggrb=199MB/s, minb=204MB/s, maxb=204MB/s, mint=102698msec, maxt=102698msec Disk stats (read/write): sda: ios=0/655238, merge=0/0, ticks=0/79552, in_queue=78640, util=76.55% Run 2: test: (g=0): rw=write, bs=32K-32K/32K-32K, ioengine=sync, iodepth=1 Starting 1 process Jobs: 1 (f=1): [W] [100.0% done] [0K/0K /s] [0/0 iops] [eta 00m:00s] test: (groupid=0, jobs=1): err= 0: pid=4733 write: io=20,480MB, bw=91,265KB/s, iops=2,852, runt=229786msec clat (usec): min=16, max=127K, avg=349.53, stdev=4694.98 bw (KB/s) : min=56013, max=1390016, per=101.47%, avg=92607.31, stdev=167453.17 cpu : usr=0.41%, sys=6.93%, ctx=21128, majf=0, minf=33 IO depths : 1=100.0%, 2=0.0%, 4=0.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, >=64=0.0% submit : 0=0.0%, 4=100.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, 64=0.0%, >=64=0.0% complete : 0=0.0%, 4=100.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, 64=0.0%, >=64=0.0% issued r/w: total=0/655360, short=0/0 lat (usec): 20=5.53%, 50=93.89%, 100=0.02%, 250=0.01%, 500=0.01% lat (msec): 2=0.01%, 4=0.01%, 10=0.01%, 20=0.01%, 50=0.12% lat (msec): 100=0.38%, 250=0.04% Run status group 0 (all jobs): WRITE: io=20,480MB, aggrb=91,265KB/s, minb=93,455KB/s, maxb=93,455KB/s, mint=229786msec, maxt=229786msec Disk stats (read/write): sda: ios=8/79811, merge=7/7721388, ticks=9/32418456, in_queue=32471983, util=98.98% I'm not knowledgeable enough with fio to interpret the results, but I don't expect the overall performance using the buffer cache to be 50% less than with O_DIRECT.   • Windows 8 permissions vs Windows 7 [closed]

    - by Saturn2888
    Possible Duplicate: How do I disable administrator prompt in Windows 8? When I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro 64-bit to Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, I noticed some permissions issues extremely problematic to my using the OS. When running Windows 7 or Vista with UAC off, I was able to navigate around the filesystem as if I was on Windows XP and prior such that I didn't have to run as administrator and could copy and edit files wherever I wanted. In Windows 8, turning off UAC no longer does this. Does anyone know how to get Windows 8's permissions to act like Windows 7 and Vista when UAC is disabled? NOTE: I did a clean install on my laptop with Windows 8, and it has the same issues.

Here is the output of 2 fio runs (the first with direct=1, the second one direct=0): Config: [test] rw=write blocksize=32k size=20G filename=/dev/sda # direct=1 Run 1: test: (g=0): rw=write, bs=32K-32K/32K-32K, ioengine=sync, iodepth=1 Starting 1 process Jobs: 1 (f=1): [W] [100.0% done] [0K/205M /s] [0/6K iops] [eta 00m:00s] test: (groupid=0, jobs=1): err= 0: pid=4667 write: io=20,480MB, bw=199MB/s, iops=6,381, runt=102698msec clat (usec): min=104, max=13,388, avg=152.06, stdev=72.43 bw (KB/s) : min=192448, max=213824, per=100.01%, avg=204232.82, stdev=4084.67 cpu : usr=3.37%, sys=16.55%, ctx=655410, majf=0, minf=29 IO depths : 1=100.0%, 2=0.0%, 4=0.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, >=64=0.0% submit : 0=0.0%, 4=100.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, 64=0.0%, >=64=0.0% complete : 0=0.0%, 4=100.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, 64=0.0%, >=64=0.0% issued r/w: total=0/655360, short=0/0 lat (usec): 250=99.50%, 500=0.45%, 750=0.01%, 1000=0.01% lat (msec): 2=0.01%, 4=0.02%, 10=0.01%, 20=0.01% Run status group 0 (all jobs): WRITE: io=20,480MB, aggrb=199MB/s, minb=204MB/s, maxb=204MB/s, mint=102698msec, maxt=102698msec Disk stats (read/write): sda: ios=0/655238, merge=0/0, ticks=0/79552, in_queue=78640, util=76.55% Run 2: test: (g=0): rw=write, bs=32K-32K/32K-32K, ioengine=sync, iodepth=1 Starting 1 process Jobs: 1 (f=1): [W] [100.0% done] [0K/0K /s] [0/0 iops] [eta 00m:00s] test: (groupid=0, jobs=1): err= 0: pid=4733 write: io=20,480MB, bw=91,265KB/s, iops=2,852, runt=229786msec clat (usec): min=16, max=127K, avg=349.53, stdev=4694.98 bw (KB/s) : min=56013, max=1390016, per=101.47%, avg=92607.31, stdev=167453.17 cpu : usr=0.41%, sys=6.93%, ctx=21128, majf=0, minf=33 IO depths : 1=100.0%, 2=0.0%, 4=0.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, >=64=0.0% submit : 0=0.0%, 4=100.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, 64=0.0%, >=64=0.0% complete : 0=0.0%, 4=100.0%, 8=0.0%, 16=0.0%, 32=0.0%, 64=0.0%, >=64=0.0% issued r/w: total=0/655360, short=0/0 lat (usec): 20=5.53%, 50=93.89%, 100=0.02%, 250=0.01%, 500=0.01% lat (msec): 2=0.01%, 4=0.01%, 10=0.01%, 20=0.01%, 50=0.12% lat (msec): 100=0.38%, 250=0.04% Run status group 0 (all jobs): WRITE: io=20,480MB, aggrb=91,265KB/s, minb=93,455KB/s, maxb=93,455KB/s, mint=229786msec, maxt=229786msec Disk stats (read/write): sda: ios=8/79811, merge=7/7721388, ticks=9/32418456, in_queue=32471983, util=98.98% I'm not knowledgeable enough with fio to interpret the results, but I don't expect the overall performance using the buffer cache to be 50% less than with O_DIRECT. Can someone help me interpret the fio output? Are there any kernel tunings that could fix/minimize the problem? Thanks a lot,

  • Windows OEM vs retail difference

    - by tjameson
    My laptop has an OEM version of Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I need to reinstall Windows, and I've made sure that disk I have downloaded is the same as the one on my system (32-bit Home Premium). Is the retail version the same as the OEM? I only have a retail copy but I have an OEM license. Will I have any problems reactivating my copy of windows? Note, my HW hasn't changed. Note: I saw this post already, but I don't have an OEM disk: Installing XP with out manufacturers original XP restore disk, possiable with OEM disk?

  • Why do these ipfw delayed pipes have no effect?

    - by troutwine
    I'm on OSX 10.7.5 and am attempting to add some latency to the connection to my personal domain with ipfw, using this article as a guide. Normal latency: > ping -c5 troutwine.us PING troutwine.us (198.101.227.131): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=0 ttl=56 time=92.714 ms 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=1 ttl=56 time=91.436 ms 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=2 ttl=56 time=91.218 ms 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=3 ttl=56 time=91.451 ms 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=4 ttl=56 time=91.243 ms --- troutwine.us ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 91.218/91.612/92.714/0.559 ms Enabling ipfw: > sudo sysctl -w net.inet.ip.fw.enable=0 net.inet.ip.fw.enable: 1 -> 0 > sudo sysctl -w net.inet.ip.fw.enable=1 net.inet.ip.fw.enable: 0 -> 1 The configuration of the pipe: > sudo ipfw add pipe 1 ip from any to 198.101.227.131 00200 pipe 1 ip from any to any dst-ip 198.101.227.131 > sudo ipfw add pipe 2 ip from 198.101.227.131 to any 00500 pipe 2 ip from 198.101.227.131 to any > sudo ipfw pipe 1 config delay 250ms bw 1Mbit/s plr 0.1 > sudo ipfw pipe 2 config delay 250ms bw 1Mbit/s plr 0.1 The pipes are in place and configured: > sudo ipfw -a list 00100 166 14178 fwd 127.0.0.1,20559 tcp from any to me dst-port 80 in 00200 0 0 pipe 1 ip from any to 198.101.227.131 00300 0 0 pipe 2 ip from 198.101.227.131 to any 65535 37452525 32060610029 allow ip from any to any > sudo ipfw pipe list 00001: 1.000 Mbit/s 250 ms 50 sl.plr 0.100000 0 queues (1 buckets) droptail mask: 0x00 0x00000000/0x0000 -> 0x00000000/0x0000 00002: 1.000 Mbit/s 250 ms 50 sl.plr 0.100000 0 queues (1 buckets) droptail mask: 0x00 0x00000000/0x0000 -> 0x00000000/0x0000 Yet, this has had no effect: > ping -c5 troutwine.us PING troutwine.us (198.101.227.131): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=0 ttl=56 time=100.920 ms 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=1 ttl=56 time=91.648 ms 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=2 ttl=56 time=91.777 ms 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=3 ttl=56 time=91.466 ms 64 bytes from 198.101.227.131: icmp_seq=4 ttl=56 time=93.209 ms --- troutwine.us ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 91.466/93.804/100.920/3.612 ms What gives? I understand that ipfw is depreciated, but the manpage does not mention it being disabled. Also, I am not using Network Link Controller as I want to affect a single host.
