• Do email providers have to tell me which (inter)national agencies/institutes are requesting legal access to my account data?

  I know this question is not technical, but i did not find the "stackoverflow for legal issues" and I guess all you super users out there might know the answer. Here is my (potential) problem: I have a free email account at a (inter)national email provider. I used the words "wikileaks" and "twitter" lately in my email. Some over-ambitious national security organization legally requests access to all accounts that behaved similarly. Q1: Can I request the who-, when-, and why-information related to this legal request from my provider? Does he have to tell me which (inter)national organizations (legally) requested my account data? Q2: Does the situation change if I live in Germany (and have a German provider)? I guess here are some German users. And I know that such a legal policy exists for our national credit rating agency. I can request who got access to my data, they have to tell me. Please answer only if you know a good answer, I don't want to start a long discussion on this none-technical question. Una buena parte del evento, la mañana del martes, estuvo dedicada a Big Data. Con Andrew Sutherland, Vicepresidente Senior de Tecnología de Oracle en EMEA, haciendo la presentación principal, para dar paso después a sesiones específicas sobre las tecnologías necesarias en las diferentes fases de los proyectos Big Data (obtener los datos, organizarlos, analizarlos y, finalmente, tomar las decisiones de negocio correspondientes). No nos vamos a entretener explicando qué es Big Data, un tema que ya hemos tratado previamente en este blog (aquí y aquí), pero sí hay que llamar la atención sobre un tema que Andrew Sutherland puso sobre la mesa en una reunión con periodistas: los proyectos relacionados con los Big Data tienen sentido pleno si nos sirven para modificar procesos y modelos de negocio, de forma que incrementemos la eficacia de la organización. • Android : Cannot cast from View to Button

  I just started working with the Android, but seem to have come across a problem that I simply can't find the answer to. I get the error "Cannot cast from View to Button" on this line : Button myButton = (Button)findViewById(R.id.my_button); I've tried many different things to get it going, and I've searched for the answer, but for some reason it just refuses to work right. • Sending a Tuple object over WCF?

  Is the System.Tuple class supported by WCF's Data Contract Serializer (i.e., can I pass Tuple objects to WCF calls and/or receive them as part or all of the result)? I found this page, but not the clear, definitive "you can send and receive Tuples with WCF" answer I was hoping for. I'm guessing that you can, as long as all of the types within the Tuple itself are supported by the Data Contract Serializer -- can anyone provide me with a more definitive answer? Thanks.

• Optional parameters with named query in Hibernate?

  Is there any way to specify optional parameters (such as when search parameters are provided from a form and not all parameters are required) in a named query when using Hibernate? I'm using a native SQL query, but the question is probably applicable to named HQL queries as well. I'm pretty sure the answer to this is 'no', but I haven't find the definitive answer in the documentation yet.

  When I try to load a wap site with PHP HTTP request from my PC, host of the web site recognizes that I'm sending the request from a PC and redirects me to their actual web site and I can't load the wap site. Is there a way to behave like a mobile browser and prevent this redirection? Although an answer regarding any programming language is ok, a php specific answer will be better.

  From what I read so far, it sounds like these StringComparison types are meant to differ in how they do sorting of strings, if so, does that mean that it does'nt matter which StringComparison you use when doing an equality comparison? string.Equals(a, b, StringComparison....) Extra credit: does it make a difference to the answer if we compare OrdinalIgnoreCase and InvariantCultureIgnoreCase? What is the answer then? Please provide supporting argument and/or references.

• Enabling tag libraries in jsp

  I feel like I am missing something - from what it seems, jsp comes out of the box with support for tags, as this question's answer shows (the guy was asking a pure-jsp question and got an answer involving tags). But if I try to run the given code <c:out value="${myString}"/> (with myString defined before, of course), the jsp just writes the above line into the html. Do I have to do something extra to enable it?

The answer given in the general question relies upon functionality built into PhoneApplicationPage. AFAIK, you wouldn't normally be using that class within the context of an XNA game on Windows Phone 7.
