  How to assign an user account to a client machine in Windows Small Business Server 2003. I read here how to do that in 2011 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc527565.aspx) but I can't find the documentation in 2003. I've examine the properties in the client computer list in the admin server tools, and also in the users list, but I don't see any tab for machine or user assignation. Thank you.

• What does "Application Server" in Windows Server 2008 mean?

  When seeing the Windows Server 2008 R2 edition comparision by Role, i noticed that there is an entry for Application Server separate from that of IIS. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/r2-compare-roles.aspx What is confusing me is that for Web edition, "Application Server" is not ticked but IIS is ticked. Isnt IIS both the web server and the application server in Windows? And if so, if i take the web edition, can i not host my business components (WCF services)on it because it is not an "Application Server" ?

  On windows server 2003 when one user connects to the server via RDP the default printer of the server for her profile does not change to the redirected printer of the session. This only happens with the one user all the other users default printers defaults to their session printer automatically.   Is there a way I can get this behavior on Mac OS? alt + right-click-drag will resize the window, relative to where you've clicked within the window and the window's center alt + left-click-drag will move the window, regardless of where you've clicked within the window. • Can't connect my school laptop to my homegroup

  Well I've been trying quite a lot of things, it worked to connect through my other laptop which is not given by my school so there's nothing wrong with the homegroup itself. But I need a way to connect this "domain owned laptop" into my homegroup. It has IPv6 working, all the services are started and I've also deleted idstore.sst without success.   Is it possible to have IIS (6 or 7.5) return a 404 Not Found (instead of 403 Forbidden) when a disallowed directory listing is requested? A security scanning service I use thinks the 403 is revealing something "potentially sensitive", when in fact it's just not a valid URL. My workaround is to drop a default.aspx into each directory that returns an empty 404 page, but there has to be a better way...

  We have 2 different locations, and at both site we have multiple domain controllers (Win2008). In our application we use Serverless Binding to execute our LDAP queries http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms677945(v=vs.85).aspx. If we look at de DnsHostName of the LDAP://RootDse on site B we always get the default domain controller of site A. Therefor all LDAP queries go much slower. Is there a way to change the default domain controller per site ?

If you search for a bit, you can find several forums with people having problems, but of course forums don't get updated when resolutions to those problems are found. I'm just wondering, does anyone know what the final verdict regarding the freezing issue with these hard drives is?

  I have installed PHP with Microsoft Web PI. Then I installed mysql. According to http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/353/install-and-configure-mysql-for-php-applications-on-iis-7/ I have to Uncomment the following lines by removing the semicolon: extension=php_mysqli.dll extension=php_mbstring.dll extension=php_mcrypt.dll But there is no extension=php_mcrypt.dll in php.ini installed by web PI so should I add it by hand then where ? and where should I check that php_mcrypt.dll exists ? Seems nobody knows, should better ask on Microsoft forum ?

We've gotten the Windows partition to work, but the recovery partition (100-200MB at the front of the drive in a standard install) isn't as simple.   Is there a way to manage a Hyper-V cluster that runs on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter from a Windows 8.1 Pro workstation? • Set default page to virtual directory in IIS 6

  I have two applications, one of which is a store and is located under the virtual directory "store", while the main "application" is the parent website/application. However, when visiting the the top-level website address, I would like to start people in /store/default.aspx (technically "/store/home") but this is not allowed in the entry box in IIS. Currently I am doing the redirect manually in code, but was wondering if there was a way to do this in IIS or something. Thanks for any help.
