  • How to execute machine language from memory?

    I wrote a program to compile a simple text program to a compiled executable... Is it possible that I can load an executable to memory an some how point a pc counter to the memory space at will? Here is what I made that I would like to store the programs to memory for execution on demand... Kind of wanting to make a little web language like php but compile it...   • Is C++ really a bad language for beginners? [duplicate]

    This question already has an answer here: Is C++ suitable as a first language? 24 answers I'm learning C++ right now, and it's the first language I'm learning. I keep seeing on stackexchange and other forums (Reddit, etc.) that I should drop C++ and learn a higher level language like Python or Java. The only arguments I see are that "C++ is harder to learn and is more low-level than others." which don't really give a reason NOT to learn it. I want to know if there are any actual reasons for dropping C++ and taking up another, "easier" language. Or if I should keep focusing on it, and just learn others later (which is what I plan on doing).

    I have a method Get on a type MyType1 accepting a Func<MyType2, bool> as a parameter. An example of its use: mytype1Instance.Get(x => x.Guid == guid)); I would like create a stub implementation of the method Get that examines the incoming lambda expression and determines what the value of guid is. Clearly the lambda could be "anything", but I'm happy for the stub to make an assumption about the lambda, that it is trying to match on the Guid property. How can I do this? I suspect it involves the use of the built-in Expression type?

    I want to translate English texts to different languages from my iPad App. These texts are generated dynamically from the front end website so I can use static mapping between English and other language. Basically I will receive line of text in English from the server and I want to convert it to iPad's Locale language settings and display it. Is there anyone I can achieve this?     Few examples before the question: "A language is just a tool; Better to worry only about the concept." "C++ is just an object oriented language." "Java is more about the libraries and less about programming." "C# is just a Microsoft's version of Java with some extra things from C++." "Python is a scripting language used mainly for testing purpose." ... All these statements are made knowingly or unknowingly from my colleagues/friends and I often get to hear them. I feel bad when someone brings down any programming language. I don't know how to respond. Is there any one liner to enlighten those people?

    i just recently installed ubuntu 11.04, english version that comes with libreoffice. I also installed Greek language. Is there some way to make Writer recognize my input language (English - Greek) and apply spelling check on the fly, according to my input language? For example, i type a sentence in English, then switch keyboard input (Alt-Shift) and type a sentence in Greek. Writer does no recognize the Greek sentence and underlines it red. MS Office and OO under Windows does it... As soon as you change input language (keyboard layout), the real time spelling checker changes also between languages... Thank you in advance...

    Hi, There are different kind of macros in C language, nested macro is one of them. Considering a program with the following macro define HYPE(x,y) (SQUR(x)+SQUR(y)) define SQUR(x) (x*x) using this we can successfully complile to get the result. My question:- As we all know the C preprocessor replaces all the occurrence of the identifiers with the replacement-string. Considering the above example i would like to know how many times the C compiler traverses the program to replace the macro with the replacement values. I assume it cannot be done in one go. Thanks.

    while trying to learn sql i came across "Learn SQL The Hard Way" and i started reading it. Everything was going fine then i thought ,as a way to practice, to make something like given example in the book (example consists in 3 tables pet,person,person_pet and the person_pet table 'links' pets to their owners). My first thought was SELECT report.id,report.content AS report_content,note.content AS note_content FROM report,note WHERE report.id = note.report_id but this only returns the ones that have a match (would not return the invalid report). after this i tried adding IF conditions but i just made it worse. My question is, is this something i will figure out after getting past basic sql or can this be done in simple way? Anyway i would appreciate any help, i pretty much lost with this. Thank you. EDIT: i have looked into related questions but havent yet found one that solves my problem. I probably need to look into other statements such as join or something to sort this out.

I have a hierarchy of UITableViewControllers that use NSFetchedResultsController to populate the table, and when a particular row is selected, the detail view is shown. UITableView (MyMainEntity) UITableView (MyEntity) UITableView (MyEntity) detail view Both MyMainEntity UITableView and MyEntity UITableView use NSFetchedResultsController to show the records. Sometimes it crashes when i'm scrolling the tableView, and sometimes it crashes when i try to open the detail view. I can navigate to the MyEntity detail view multiple times before application crashes. What does this error mean? and how can i fix it!?
