• Flash video plays well, but time and time-remaining are out of sync.

  Hey guys, Could be a known issue, an issue with my code or an oversight on my part. I have created a video player in flash. I have got it playing progressive and streaming over rtmp/rtmpt so that is all fine. My only issue is that when the video's are playing, the time-codes for time played and time remaining are not synced. So, if my video is 20 secs long and 5 have been played, time played will be 5secs, time remaining will be 16secs until it updates about half a second later. So even though they are both being set with the same line of code, there are not changing at the same time. The time played changes, then a split second later the time remaining changes. Anyone got any idea what this could be. Maybe a miscalculation on my part. Maybe I need to round up or down the remaining time. How can I sync the two times. I understand this is probably an tough question to answer, I have done my best to explain it. Thanks in advance.

  I'm completely new to Ubuntu I downloaded and unpacked a tar.gz package, after extraction, it is said in its documentation : "type ./configure --disable-gts" But when i run this command alone it tells me "Permission Denied" error. Then i tried to use "sh ./configure --disable-gts" insted, but this time i faced this error: configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs. If you meant to cross compile, use `--host'. How can i overcome these two problems? (I mean permission and compile error) I'm just a rookie and i need urgent help. Thanx

• How do you handle increasingly long compile times when working with templates?

  I use Visual Studio 2012 and he have cases where we added templates parameters to a class "just" in order to introduce a "seam point" so that in unit-test we can replace those parts with mock objects. How do you usually introduce seam points in C++: using interfaces and/or mixing based on some criteria with implicit interfaces by using templates parameters also ? One reason to ask this is also because when compiling sometimes a single C++ file (that includes templates files, that could also include other templates) results in an object file being generated that takes in the order of around 5-10 seconds on a developer machine. VS compiler is also not particularly fast on compiling templates as far as I understand, and because of the templates inclusion model (you practically include the definition of the template in every file that uses it indirectly and possibly re-instantiate that template every time you modify something that has nothing to do with that template) you could have problems with compile times (when doing incremental compiling). What are your ways of handling incremental(and not only) compile time when working with templates (besides a better/faster compiler :-)).

• how to install/compile CORSIKA/FLUKA for Ubuntu x32 12.04?

  I want to use some programs (CORSIKA/FLUKA) which are essentially designed for 32 bit systems. so I installed Ubuntu 12.04 32 bit on my system (Intel® Core™ i7-2700K CPU @ 3.50GHz × 8). Before this I had installed Ubuntu 9.10 (32-bit) on an older system and installed g77 from hardy repositories, compiled those programs without any problem. But this time when changing the repositories, g77 could not be installed even i removed all the things that i thought make this installation impossible, for example I need gcc-3.4 and removed all newer versions and tried to install them from hardy repositories. but the problem is that, whenever I have g77, corsika does not compile, and whenever I remove it, fluka does not compile, and also i received a error messages like this: crt1.o not found in /usr/bin/lb. In fact these .o files does not exist on my system user/bin/lb I have no directory lb there? I do not know how to link it? Or do i need to reinstall everything?

• Why do I get this error trying to compile libxml2?

  Although, I installed libxml2 once and reinstalled it for a few times. I cannot compile c-source code because compiler cannot find where the header file is. I am able to locate where it is (in the folder where I downloaded the tar.gz package) but I had a feeling in my guts that this package isn't installed correctly because when I tried to sudo make install, it says /bin/bash: /home/bfaskiplar/Downloads/tar.gz: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [install-libLTLIBRARIES] Error 127 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/bfaskiplar/Downloads/tar.gz packages/libxml2-2.8.0' make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/bfaskiplar/Downloads/tar.gz packages/libxml2-2.8.0' make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1 that's why I installed synaptic package manager and reinstalled it, but in this case, isn't it supposed to put header files in default directory where gcc normally searches in currently, I am able to compile it with -I option, but I wonder why do I have to copy headers manually even if I used synaptic for installation and why I am getting Error 1 and Error 2 when trying to install the package manually. thanks in advance

Key-Hold Time : Time difference between pressing and releasing a key . Digraph Time : Time difference between releasing one and pressing next one. Error Rate : No of times backspace is pressed. I got these metrics from a paper "Keystroke-based User Identification on Smart Phones" by Saira Zahid1, Muhammad Shahzad1, Syed Ali Khayam1,2, Muddassar Farooq1. I was planning to get the datasets to test my algorithm from openmoko phone, but the phone is mis-behaving and I am finding trouble in generating these time data-sets.   I am creating an app that requires the users current time zone. If the device being used is an iPhone and the user has their Time Zone set to automatically change, I think I can be fairly confident that localTimeZone or systemTimezone will give me the correct time zone for the user's location. If on the other hand the device is an iPod Touch, the time zone returned by localTimeZone and systemTimeZone appears to always be whatever time zone is set in the Date & Time settings, regardless of the user's actual location. I tried using location services but, while the lat/long is being provided properly, the time zone offset in the timesStamp I am getting is always the same as whatever the user has set for their time zone setting. Any suggestions? John

  Hi. I have a .NET WebService (written in C#), that is supposed to serve people around the world. With each request I get the user's datetime in his own time zone with the format : "yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm ZZZZ". I have to convert the string to something representing the original date and time and specifying the time zone in GMT. I have to make some logical calculations and keep it in the database. The regular DateTime doe's not support this. it does not have a property specifying the time zone. When I try to convert my string into DateTime - it simply converts it to my local time. I do not want to keep my time in UTC, because I have some logic that has to run per user by his own time. Does anyone know a C# class that handles this? Thanks!

• php time 2 hours wrong for only 50% some users

  I am having huge issues with php time. For some reason it shows a different time (by 2 hours) to some users and the correct time to other users. The code is H:i:s d-M-y T when I view the page in a browser from my PC it tells me its 11am when infact its 9am, when I check via a browser using one my RDP's I get the correct time. Both PC's are in the country (uk) both PC's have the same system time etc. Tried setting the timezone default, but no matter what I do the server still shows some users the correct time, and other users the time 2 hour forward, any ideas? the code is echo gmdate("H:i:s d-M-y T"); <?php echo gmdate("H:i:s d-M-y T"); ?>

As you can see, the end result is 4 tuples but it seems like it should be a fast join by using the available index after it limited it down with the name clause, although very complex.

• Limit the amount of data that can be stored in a folder on Ubuntu Server 12.04?

  I'm in the process of building my first server. It's up, it's running, I'm transferring copious amounts of data away from my horrid little Drobo (DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE, EVER). However, there's one thing I have yet to do: I'd like to set it up for Time Machine backups as well. I've seen all the guides and I have some idea of how to set the whole thing up, but the issue is that Time Machine will just fill up as much space as you let it. So if I let it lose in my 8 TB zpool it'll slowly consume every last available sector. This, of course, is not acceptable. I have a folder at the root of my zpool called "ZFS Time Machine" and I would like to limit it to 1 TB (all I need for backup purposes). However, I have no idea how to do that. Is this possible? I can continue using a small external hard drive attached via FW800 if I have to but I'd much rather prefer putting everything on my server.

• Turning .NET executable into native executable

  Hello all, Is there any approach to convert an application developed in .NET into a native executable (sources are included)? Installing the whole framework (up to .NET Framework 3.5 SP1) takes a lot of time - not always the computers are updated from the internet. Is it possible to call NGen in order to produce independent executables? Thanks

Most run-time charting tools generate poor time axes, especially if the time scale is dynamic ie the user may choose to view data over a time scale of days, weeks, months or years. I'm looking for recommended tools that can be integrated into my app. Two that show promise are Chart Director and Google's annotated timeline visualization. Both are quite different in their implementation and have pros/cons.

• How to avoid "Illegal type in constant pool" using "ldc_w <classname>" in Jasmin?

  I'm writing a compiler that generates Jasmin code and want to invoke a method that takes a Class as a parameter. public class CTest { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { java.lang.reflect.Array.newInstance(CTest.class, 0); } } So in Jasmin, I think that should be: .class public CTest2 .super java/lang/Object .method public static main([Ljava/lang/String;)V .limit stack 2 .limit locals 1 ldc_w CTest2 iconst_0 invokestatic java/lang/reflect/Array/newInstance(Ljava/lang/Class;I)Ljava/lang/Object; pop return .end method When I assemble it and run it I get: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.VerifyError: (class: CTest2, method: main signature: ([Ljava/lang/String;)V) Illegal type in constant pool Looking at the disassembled code for both CTest.class (the Java version) and CTest2.class (the Jasmin version) with "javap -c -verbose" they both appear to set up the constant pool the same way: const #2 = class #16; // CTest const #16 = Asciz CTest; 0: ldc_w #2; //class CTest const #14 = Asciz CTest2; const #17 = class #14; // CTest2 0: ldc_w #17; //class CTest2 I've fixed two bugs in Jasmin already, but I can't see what it's doing wrong when putting the class in the constant pool for "ldc_w" it puts classes in the constant pool for other instructions, like "new" and "anewarray" correctly. I've tried looking at the .class files with TraceClassVisitor in ASM, but it doesn't dump the constant pool. Any ideas what I can try next?

• UTC time stamp on Windows

  I have a buffer with the UTC time stamp in C, I broadcast that buffer after every ten seconds. The problem is that the time difference between two packets is not consistent. After 5 to 10 iterations the time difference becomes 9, 11 and then again 10. Kindly help me to sort out this problem. I am using <time.h> for UTC time.

  Hi guys, I'm trying to instanciate a constant NSString by concatanating other NSString instances. Here is what I'm doing in my implementation file : static NSString *const MY_CONST = @"TEST"; static NSString *const MY_CONCATENATE_CONST = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"STRING %@", MY_CONST]; It leads to the following compilation error : Initializer element is not constant I suppose this is because stringWithFormat doesn't return a constant NSString, but since there is no other way to concatenate strings in Obj-C, what am I supposed to do ?   In C++ I am able to get the current time when my application starts I can use time_t appStartTime = time(null); then to find the difference in seconds from when it started I can just do the same thing, then find the difference. It looks like I should be using "System.DateTime" in C# net, but the MSDN is confusing in its explanation. How can I use System.DateTime to find the difference in time (in seconds) between when my application starts, and the current time?

We're using the time zone selector, which is fine, but I'd like to set the default value to something that it likely the user's current time zone.
