• De-share third level .name domain

  Sometime ago I registered a third level .name domain of the type john.doe.name (this is just an example-my domain is not actually john.doe.name). I just realised that I could have registered the entire second level domain doe.name, which would grant me control of the third level one anyway. Since I already registered the third level, doe.name is now "shared". I have 2 questions: 1) How do I check if I am the only one using the shared second level domain? (normal whois lookup doesn't give any result) 2) Can I "de-share" the domain and buy the entire second level domain? Cheers!

  I already bought a domain name .com on godaddy for my company. I would like to reserve the same name with country specific domain extention, but not sure where to buy them and how to do it. Here are the ones that I would like to buy: Europe: fr, co.uk, de, ch, es, it, nl, se, no, ru australia: com.au asia: sg Godaddy has all except 1 in europe, australia and singapore. Should I find a website that sell all of them or should I buy some of them in godaddy and others elsewhere? Any suggestions where to buy them?   I'm currently evaluating a potential new project that involves creating a DB for typical customer information (userid, pwd, first & last name, email, adress, telfnr ...). At this point, requirements are only roughly defined. The customer DB is expected in the O(millions) of records. In order to calculate some back-of-the-envelope numbers for DB sizing and evaluate potential DB options & architectures, I'm looking for some de-facto standards for these kind of records. In particular, the std size of every field (first name, last name, address,...) or typical avg for a simple customer record would be great info. With so many e-commerce websites out there, there should be some kind of typical config that can be reused and avoid re-inventing the wheel. Any ideas?

  Is there a way in javascript to detect all images in a document, including those that may be loaded asynchronously (and maybe after the DOM is ready)? I'm looking to create a function that can detect if Google Analytics has been loaded by searching through the DOM looking for "__utm.gif". document.images doesn't seem to hold this image as it's loaded asynchronously and not displayed.

  What is the best way to parse (get a DOM tree of) a HTML result of XmlHttpRequest in Firefox? EDIT: I do not have the DOM tree, I want to acquire it. XmlHttpRequest's "responseXML" works only when the result is actual XML, so I have only responseText to work with. The innerHTML hack doesn't seem to work with a complete HTML document (in <html</html). - turns out it works fine.

• jQuery RJS inserting string vs dom.

  So I am trying to use jQuery to insert data from an ajax call. I actually use the jquery.form plugin, and have the ajax form submitted with a dataType: 'script'. The response is a jquery expression which contains a <%= javascript_escape(render ...) %> erb tag (similar to what the railscasts episode 136 instructs to do). However the end result is that the full text of the render is inserted as if that was the content to be inserted into the page, as text, not as dom elements. Could the fact that the render had some newlines at the beginning be the cause? Dom text: "\n \n &lt;li>....&lt;/li>" I also tried having jQuery just read the response as a script and execute it, and used the prototype-based rjs stuff, same effect, the text is inserted into the dom. Are there any reasons why such a behavior would be experienced? A bit of clarification: My response.js.erb is jQuery("#content").append("<%= escape_javascript(render(:partial => "widgets")) %>"); jQuery("#information").text("Finally, something happened!"); The full text inside the append() call is inserted as text into #content.

• Get notified when objective-c dom updates are ready initiated from webview

  I am programmatically updating the DOM on a WebKit webview via DOMElement objects - for complex UI, there is usually a javascript component to any element that I add. This begs the need to be notified when the updates complete -- is there any such event? I know regular divs dont fire an onload or onready event, correct?   Sometimes we use one store for few views(list, carousel,dataviews) and when we refresh(load, filter) store data, dom of all view that use this store will be rebuild, but some views is not displayed in this time, and may be will not show with these data. How we can refresh list dom only if it displayed, not every time when it store refresh?
