  I previous had both Web and Mail on the same server and for each of my vhosts/domains, I could visit example.com/mail or foo.com/mail which would display the Roundcube Webmail across all vhosts. E.g Alias /mail "/usr/share/apache2/roundcub/" Although now I have moved the Mail server onto a completely different server and now have a SSL for the main domain. https://mail.example.com which is now the new location of Roundcube for all vhosts/domains. Question: is it possible to redirect all alias for "/mail" from the Web server to the new URL?

• Set up an Email server on intranet without domain

  I work in a small office with about 35 people and we are all on a intranet. This network is not connected to the internet. Is it possible to set up an email server, with which we could send emails to each other? (We don't need to send emails outside our network.) I cannot use a messenger service like Openfire, since the messages could be asynchronous, and we'd like to get those emails in a email client like Thunderbird. Another obstacle we have is that we do not have a domain name. Any ideas on which free (as in beer) software could be used? We have both Windows and Linux machines.

• Possible causes for Domain server being unavailable?

  One of our servers was compromised after a user with administrative privileges accidentally loaded a virus from a USB drive on a desktop connected to the domain. The two most obvious symptoms of this were: The server is no longer responding to login attempts The root directory of the drive containing user data has been filled with randomly named empty folders. (Initially it was around a million folders, I've been slowly deleting them.) I've run several virus scans from different vendors and am fairly confident the virus has been removed but the damage is done. I'm hoping the two symptoms are related and that once the directories are gone the server will start responding again. The drive is very slow to respond. I'm deleting about 20k folders at a time. Anymore than that and windows explorer becomes unresponsive. In the event that I finish cleaning up the HD and things don't return to normal what other things can I check?

This works both in our development and production environments. background-image: url(/images/bg.png); For performance reasons (cookie-less domain), we'd like to switch this: background-image: url(http://staticimagedomain.com/images/bg.png); Ideally, we don't hard code those, so our development environments can still pull locally. Any thoughts on how to best achieve this?

  I have a laptop computer that I had when I was working at an IT company. I don´t work there anymore but I could keep the computer (Lenovo) Suddenly my wireless internet didn´t work anymore showing error "insert SIM into the mobile broadband device" and month later connectiong to internet with cable got disabled I don´t know the password to sign in as an administrator on domain and whatever I try to do/install/change settings... everything needs admin rights. To surf the internet again with the computer I tried to install a new Windows but it´s seems to be protected with Bit Locker, asking for recovery key. I´ve googled and googled bunch of CMD tricks but most of the shows "system error 5 has occured" Is there anyway to get the wireless internet to work, change the admin or install new Windows? - or should I rather enjoying throwing it of the balcony or set it one fire? :)

  I might buy an SSL certificate for my sie. I know that it will help me in many ways. But will there be dis-advantages also? eg. If I load an image from another server (using plain http), will that alert the customer saying something is wrong? Will I be able to use all existing codes like phpbb, awstats etc without a problem? From wikipedia: The biz TLD was created to relieve some of the demand for domain names in the com top-level domain, and to provide an alternative for businesses whose preferred domain name in com had already been registered by another party. .org at least implies an organization, whereas .com is the most generic 'commercial'. But .biz seems like a total duplicate that doesn't seem in widespread use <pun>and deserves to be closed. </pun>. Does .biz have any advantages over .com? Are .biz domains worth registering if .com is already taken?

  I have a site at say: foo.com and I would like the subdomain blog.foo.com to point to fooblog.com blog.foo.com - fooblog.com However, our DNS provider says that if we do an alias such as that, since the provider at fooblog.com does not recognize the name blog.foo.com. We asked if we could just point blog.foo.com at the IP address of fooblog.com and they say the same problem will occur. Any advice? Due to our configuration we can't really put the blog on foo.com. We are willing to move our hosting and even our domain name hosting if necessary. -- Yes, I am a n00b when it comes to DNS.

  I am trying to set up emailing from a java web application hosted on a linux server (Cent OS) in apache. Sendmail is working fine from the command line as root on localhost but when trying to send emails from the java web app (also on the same server from localhost) the following java exception is thrown. 501 5.0.0 HELO requires domain address EDIT: I have read that some people have found this is due to an incorrect hosts entry currently the hosts file contains 127.0.0.1 Centos-VPS localhost.localdomain localhost and i'm not sure what the Centos-VPS bit at the start is for but this is a clients hosted server so don't really want to break stuff EDIT see the RFC is helpful ... 501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments Now I know what the problem is!   For a set of VPSes operated by my company, I'd like to get a list of domain names hosted by each. The list of names has grown in an ad-hoc way for a few years. Is there a simple way to query the Apache and/or Nginx configurations to see what domains the server answers to on port 80? It is safe to assume (a) that I have sudo on these systems, and (b) they aren't using wildcards, although a solution which acknowledged that a wildcard was in use would be useful too if it also provided a list of explicit domains.

  A company is about to hire me to be their I.T. Admin. (They currently have no Admin). In the interview, they stated one of the things they want me to do is put in a MS Domain Controller. The thing is, they are a graphic design company with about 100 Mac Clients and maybe 5 Windows Clients. So other than login-credentials and network shares, what is the benefit of this? • Apache Tomcat - Responding for IP However Not for Domain

  I have just started setting up a VPS. I installed Tomcat to deploy some test applications on. The problem I am having is the following. An 'A' record has been setup for my website's primary domain as vps.mydomain.com. This is resolving fine for SSH and TS3. When it comes to Tomcat, using vps.mydomain.com:8080 does not result in the default landing page. However, 111.222.333.444:8080 does load the default Tomcat page. I read through the manual and within the server.xml added an Alias; this however has not had any effect. Is there any trickery required in order to get Tomcat to serve my applications or is this likely to be some kind of filtering mechanism for requests placed upon me by my hosting provider?

  We have recently changed our ISP, I have changed the mail and mailserver DNS A records for our domain name to point to the new external static IP address assigned to the router by the new ISP (the MX record points to mail.<mydomain> as always) but I am not getting any email (though sending email works). Do I just have to wait will the change propagates? I am slightly concerned because I can connect to the web email service made visible through the new router which suggests that the mail.<mydomain> static I.P. address change has happened. Have I missed something?

  I am trying to access http://www.abc.xyz.com from my network, but not able to do so. However, http://www.xyz.com is opening fine in my browser. Asked a friend to open abc.xyz.com from his machine(in a different network), its opening fine. Checked my firewall settings as well. There's no such rule to deny the specific site or something that could be denying access to the sub domain. Kindly advise, how I can troubleshoot my problem.

  Our organization just moved our Website/Domain to a hosted VPS. We elected, for the time being, to keep our email (Exchange) running at our office. On our new VPS, we simply add a DNS record to redirect our mail to our on-site exchange server. This worked out well, as mail is coming and going with no problems. Recently, we ran across an issue when setting up outlook from outside of our office (Not on same network as exchange server). When configuring mail server address, it keeps prompting for credentials. Anyone got any ideas on why this is happening? Is our VPS not allowing Outlook to find our exchange server? If so, how can we bypass it?

  Good Morning, I would like to know what is the best arrangement for setting up 24 computers at a facility. We do not want these computers to join our domain because of security concerns. We plan on having these public computers connect to our wifi network. If anyone knows of the best way to approach this, that would be great! We also need to add printers to these public computers.
