• Critical Patch Updates During EBS 11i Exception to Sustaining Support Period

  As previously blogged in the EBS 11i and 12.1 Support Timeline Changes entry, two important changes to the Oracle Lifetime Support policies were announced at Oracle OpenWorld 2012 - San Francisco.  These changes affect E-Business Suite Releases 11i and 12.1. Critical Patch Updates for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support Period You may be wondering about the availability of Critical Patch Updates (CPU) for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support period.  The following details the E-Business Suite Critical Patch Update support policy for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support period: Oracle will continue to provide CPUs containing critical security fixes for E-Business Suite 11i.  CPUs will be packaged and released as as cumulative patches for both ATG RUP 6 and ATG RUP 7. As always, we try to minimize the number of patches and dependencies required for uptake of a CPU; however, there have been quite a few changes to the 11i baseline since its release.  For dependency reasons the 11i CPUs may require a higher number of files in order to bring them up to a consistent, stable, and well tested level. EBS 11i customer will continue to receive CPUs up to and including the October 2014 CPU. Where can I learn more? There are two interlocking policies that affect the E-Business Suite:  Oracle's Lifetime Support policies for each EBS release (timelines which were updated by this announcement), and the Error Correction Support policies (which state the minimum baselines for new patches). • Using GoDaddy email AND Google Apps

  We have 8 people that need emails addresses in our company. 3 need email only, while 5 need emails and the features from Google Apps. We would like to continue to host email for the 3 on GoDaddy, while using Google Apps for the 5. When we insert the MX records in GoDaddy, the 3 no longer could send/receive email, since we were redirecting email to Google. How can we redirect email to these 3 employees through GoDaddy, while keeping the 5 on Google Apps?

  We've bought a domain through the free Google Apps service and use the Gmail account provided. I'm thinking of hosting our own site on a separate web host, but emails sent to our domain might be directed to our web host.   Hi I've freshly installed Ubuntu 10.4 on a new computer. I'm trying to install on it application I need (my old computer is broken and I have to send it to the service). I've managed to install texlive and than I can't install anything else. All software I want to have is what I have succesfuly installed on my old computer (with the same version of Ubuntu), so I don't understand, why terminal says (sorry, the terminal talks half English, half Polish, but I hope it's enough): maria@marysia-ubuntu:~$ sudo aptitude install emacs Czytanie list pakietów... • Dual nVidia GPUs (3 monitors) not working in 11.10

  after searching I have not found a solution. I have 2 nvidia quadro 295 cards with 3 monitors but I can not extend twinview across multiple GPUs. I have the most recent nvidia proprietary drivers installed, and they work fine for the single GPU / dual monitors. I tried using xinerama, but without success. I don't mind switching to the nouveau drivers if that would handle my multiple monitors, although I would like to continue to use unity and compiz if i can).

  I've recently downloaded Ubuntu 12.10 and it seems great I just can't get my three ireland mifi dongle to work at all. When I plug it in, it only recognizes it as a storage devise. Any idea's of how establish a permanent connection to this mifi dongle? I'm in Ireland and running a Dell Inspiron 1520 with 3gb of ram and using the huawei E586 mifi device. Really want to continue using this os but is everything this complicated to get up and running on it?

  I have tried sudo apt-get install -f and then sudo apt-get update but I still have the same dependency problems: dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of google-chrome-stable:i386: google-chrome-stable:i386 depends on xdg-utils And idea how to fix it? BTW, when I use sudo apt-get install -f, I got an output: After this operation, 119 MB disk space will be freed. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? y which seems to remove the files.

• Will google "forget" unlinked pages?

  If i remove all links to a page, but do not delete the page from the site (nor block it from being requested), will google eventually "forget" about it when it reindexes the site? Assuming of course there are no other links to the page somewhere else externally. Or will google continue to request the page and verify it in the index and keep it around so long as it returns a valid page? Is this similar for Bing et al?

• How can I force SSH to give an RSA key instead of ECDSA?

  Upon the first time accessing a server, how can I force SSH to give me the RSA key and automatically store it if the user approves? Presently it is offering me the ECDSA key. Because I already know the RSA key, I would prefer to see the RSA key presented at this point. I have tried: ssh -o RSAAuthentication=yes user@server Unfortunately this gives me an ECDSA key and the Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? message.

• Understanding exceptional cases

  I've been studying the use of exceptions in various php projects (such as Doctrine and Zend Framework). Exceptions seem to be thrown when unordinary input/state occurs. A perfect example is Doctrine throwing an exception when you try to use a invalid query string. I think the creators of the doctrine api understood that first, you can't query data by using an invalid DQL statement, and a developer should immediately be warned that an error has occurred, rather then letting execution continue with the possibility of an error code going un-checked. I also bet that this simplifies reading the code. I can't think of a situation where you would want to use an invalid DQL statement, except unit testing. Since this is true, it's better to avoid plaguing a bunch of code with null/error checks and use exceptions. I've read in books that exceptions shouldn't be thrown when validating dating user input. I've seen examples where of where the guideline is broken. One example is the Zend framework. If supplying an invalid controller or action name, an exception is thrown. Unlike doctrine, the user has more direct control over this sort of input. I know you can configure an error controller and set up a 404 message or what have you, but I'm curious why they have used an exception in this scenario? I guess you can argue the Zend Framework does not know how to continue processing the quest. One last example Is I wrote a function to return some html based on a given resource type. This resource type is hard-coded and sent when a user interacts with a web site (such as clicking a button to display the form to input data). I don't expect users to be mucking around with the request type. Under normal operating conditions, the resource type should be valid. To clean up some logic, I was going to throw an exception if a particular form wasn't found. This is mainly to find the correct form associated with a resource type so proper validation can occur. Does this sound like a valid use case for an exception? Right now it's pretty trivial, but I do plan to implement a restful consumer and re-using a function to map resources to their validation services would be very useful. I can then catch the exception and based on the consumer, return an error message suitable for the request type...

• Can Adwords be cancelled by Google because of improper IE6 site rendering

  A client just got a notice from Google saying that their Adwords campaign has been put on hold because the site is: Improperly rendering or Under constructions or Needs a special program to run Now the site is improperly rendering on IE6. On everything else, including IE7+ it's fine. If this is the issue, would putting up a "Looks like you're using an older browser" message instead of the site for IE6 be a solution? Or must the site look good in IE6 for the Adwords campaign to continue?
