  • Dolphin search bar missing. How can i get it back?

    A while ago, my search bar went missing in dolphin. If the search toolbar is checked for view/unhide, nothing shows up. I noticed if i check and uncheck the button to hide/unhide it, a small, thin content-less bar slightly pushes the rest of the toolbar up. i tried reconfiguring with dpkg, purging and reinstalling, etc. i left it alone as i thought it would be fixed in an update, but today i upgraded daolphin and it's still gone. any thoughts?

    Hey all, Not sure what happened over the weekend, but since this morning everytime I use google I get a popup from Chrome saying "It looks like you've moved. Would you like to use http://www.google.com/ ?" (as opposed to my usual google.nl). What does this mean, and how do I disable the popup? Clicking No or the close button didn't solve it, and I don't want to click Yes because I like my Google localized.

  • How can I create multiple mini-sites with similar/duplicate content without hurting my search engine rank?

    Essential background: I run a small company that lets members of the public post handwritten letters to their local politician (UK-based). Every week a number of early stage bills (called Early Day Motions) are submitted for debate in the House of Commons, and supporters of the motion will contact their local Members of Parliament, asking them to sign the motion. The crux: I want to target these EDMs with customised mini-sites, so when people search "EDM xxx", they find my customised mini-site, specifically targeting that EDM (i.e., "Send a handwritten letter to your MP asking them to sign EDM xxx"). At the moment, all these mini-sites (and my homepage) have duplicate content with only the relevant EDM name, number, and background image changed. (For example, http://mailmymp.com and http://mailmymp.com/edm/teaching-life-saving-skills-at-school-edm-550.php). The question: Firstly, will this hurt my potential search engine ranking? And, if so, what's the best way to target these political campaigns in an efficient manner without hurting my SEO prospects?

  • Google Maps: Simple app not working on IE

    We have a simple Google Maps traffic application up at: http://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/newsroom/traffic/ For some reason it's recently stopped working in IE correctly. At this point in time it was using V2 of the API, so I've just upgraded it to use V3 - but it still won't work in IE. It works fine in Chrome & Firefox. But in all versions of IE I've tired (6,7,8) the Google Map doesn't load fully. The problem The Google Map DIV will generally load all the controls (Zoom, Powered by Google, map types) but the actual map tiles do not appear in IE.     i have a database in MySql that has a name column in it which contains several words(description). I am connected to database with java through eclipse. I had been using vary header for this scheme as recommended by Google. However, now i want to move the mobile website to a single page application for several reasons. I want to know if google stops seeing anything on my mobile web version but the desktop version continues to work as it is, then how would the search rank be impacted given that mobile web gets more traffic than the desktop version.   • Best way to use Google's hosted jQuery, but fall back to my hosted library on Google fail

    What would be a good way to attempt to load the hosted jQuery at Google (or other Google hosted libs), but load my copy of jQuery if the Google attempt fails? I'm not saying Google is flaky. There are cases where the Google copy is blocked (apparently in Iran, for instance). Would I set up a timer and check for the jQuery object? What would be the danger of both copies coming through? Not really looking for answers like "just use the Google one" or "just use your own." I understand those arguments. I also understand that the user is likely to have the Google version cached. I'm thinking about fallbacks for the cloud in general. Edit: This part added... Since Google suggests using google.load to load the ajax libraries, and it performs a callback when done, I'm wondering if that's the key to serializing this problem. I know it sounds a bit crazy. I'm just trying to figure out if it can be done in a reliable way or not. Update: jQuery now hosted on Microsoft's CDN. http://www.asp.net/ajax/cdn/

How do I implement the following in C#: searchIdx = search index (starting with 0, then 1, etc. for each successive call to GetSearchContext. Rather than adding the script code for asynchronous tracking for Google in yet another script I would rather combine the two scripts together. I read in a forum somewhere that search engines will lower the rank of a page, or even drop the page, if a iframe has "the minimal size of 1x1px". Will a search engine lower the rank of my page if I have a hidden (or 1px big) iframe?

    I'm using sharepoint server 2007 SP2 SQL2000 SP4. When I perform search I get no results. In the past I used hot fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941422 which resolved this issue but I can't use it now after upgrading to SP2. Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks

  • Google indexing pages with #! although we don't have any

    Our company has developed a Single Page Application using AngularJS and its routing. Google indexed our site decently with JavaScript but it did not index some pages very well so we have developed an HTML only version. We have followed the Ajax Crawling Specification posted here and have a <meta name='fragment' content='!'> tag and canonical urls. We expect http://www.example.com/foo/bar to be fetched from http://www.example.com/?_escaped_fragment_=/foo/bar. However, we have found out that when we rolled the AJAX specification we now have all pages indexed twice, once with the JavaScript version as http://www.example.com/foo/bar and once with the new version as http://www.example.com/#!/foo/bar. This is harmful to us since it's duplicate content and also mis-representing out site. I have tried looking for similar questions here and in the Google product forum but could not come up with anything.

  • Integrating jQuery autocomplete with Google site search

    I have a bit of an odd situation. I have to implement search on a public facing website -but, that search must be able to search both web pages and have an autocomplete/suggestion functionality that comes from a list of terms that are in a DB table. So, I'm wondering a couple things: 1) should I be looking at Google search and jQuery autocomplete? 2) is there something else I should be looking at instead? 3) if this is the right path to be heading down are the enough pointers on implementation? The crux of my problem is that the terms that I need to use for the autocomplete/suggest functionality reside within a database and not on the webpages. So, I thought Google would be appropriate for search the webpages and that I could sort of fill in the blanks so to speak with these terms from the DB. I'm going to say that there are roughly 20-40,000 terms or so that need autocomplete. But that is really just a very rough guess -it could be less. I'm open to ideas and not really married to any particular solution. However, I will admit to liking the ideas of offloading the search to Google. I hear they have a good algorithm ;) Any ideas, thoughts, or leads are greatly appreciated!

    Hi guys - I'm working on a basic google applications based system. Like I earlier defined I'm building a simple ordering system and to each order placed I attach a file or document. I would like to be able to set it such that whatever file I upload is uploaded into google docs and I somehow am able to maintain a reference to that file from my own application i.e these files are concerned with such and such order. My application is google application based hopefully and I'm building it to be such for later on deployment into the cloud. How do I start on this and what do I need to do? Are there already working widgets I can use and apply or would I need to create my own customised solution for this? I'm working in Php MySQL.

    Hi, everyone! I have a problem with Google suggest API when using Chinese locale. I am picking Chinese hieroglyphs at random and use the REST API to retrieve suggestions. Unfortunately, Google always return an empty list of suggestions (I am completely sure, that I convert my request in utf-8, and it is working fine with other languages, ex. Russian): Sample request: http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search?qu=%E9%80%9F Google answer: window.google.ac.h(["?",[]]) Does anyone know how to retrieve suggestions for Chinese locale? Maybe I am missing some flags or something? Maybe there is an official document from Google, saying that Chinese is not supported? And are there any people from China, using Google toolbar?
