• Using Maven to Deploy to Weblogic Clusters

  org.codehaus.mojo weblogic-maven-plugin 2.9.1 We're currently using the weblogic maven plugin successfully to deploy to our local WebLogic 9.2 instances. When we try to deploy to a remote environment we have a problem. We use a two machine cluster, with the admin server and managed server on one machine, and another managed server on a seperate machine. When your plugin uploads the application to the admin server, it doesn't copy it to the second managed server on the seperate machine. This then causes the second managed server a problem, as it cannot find the application in the location where the admin server saved it on its own machine. • Migrating Identity Providers - specifying a new users password hash.

  We'd like to switch Identity Provider (and Web Access Manager), and also the user directory we use, but would like to do so without users needing to change their password. We currently have the SSHA of the passwords. I'm expecting to write code to perform the migration. I don't mind how complex the code has to be, rather my concern is whether such a migration is possible at all. MS Active Directory would be our preferred user store, but I believe that it can not have new users set up in it with a particular password hash. Is that correct? What user directory stores can be populated with users already set up with a SSHA password? What Identity Provider and Access Management products work with those stores?

• Script to Add an IMAP account to Outlook 2010

  Im looking to for a script that allows me to add an IMAP account to an already existing email profile. All of our users have an Exchange account as their main email account. We have several shared IMAP accounts that these users need access to. Rather than go to each machine and add each account they need access to over and over, Im hoping there is a script of some nature where I can plug in the needed info (username, password, server, security settings, etc) I then plan to run said script remotely on each machine using powershell. I have found a couple scripts in my searches, but nothing recent, and the majority of them revolve around creating profiles, not adding accounts to an already existing profile. Thoughts?

• I cannot connect to database from Drupal

  hi, I've uploaded my drupal website (and related database) to my new server. The database info is: host: localhost user: user pass: pass databaseName = database_name I've set the following line in settings.php file: $db_url = 'mysqli://user:password@localhost/database_name'; but what I get is this: If you are the maintainer of this site, please check your database settings in the settings.php file and ensure that your hosting provider's database server is running. For more help, see the handbook, or contact your hosting provider. I guess the database is running, it always run and I can access with phpmyadmin so I think the problem is not there. The database and website files upload have also been succesfull.. so I dunno what to do to fix this issue. It is mysql on IIS Server thanks

• Is it possible to route *.example.com to a single machine without registering extra domains?

  I would like to achieve something similar to what wordpress.com does - giving each user its own subdomain. user1.wordpress.com would in the VirtualHosts setup of Apache would have its DocRoot at /user/user1, for instance. Now, our hosting service provider takes a fee for creating a domain, and in our case this would mean a ridiculous number of domains with a matching price. After some googling on DNS I came over a description of a DNAME record. That seems to fit the bill precisely. Any reason why my service provider would not do this, or why I should not do this?

• Reccomendation for tuning 100's of SQL Databases

  I'm running several SQL servers, each running a few hundred multi-gig databases for customers. They are all setup homogeneously as far as the schemas are concerned, however customer usages of the data differ quite a lot from database to database. What would be the best way to auto-index/profile/tune this large amount of databases? As there are at least 600 or more catalogs I cant have someone manually profile, and index as required by each databases usage patterns. I'm currently running SQL 2005 but will be moving to 2008, so solutions that work with either are fine.

• Icon on user account desktop before the user has logged in.

  Currently working on a Windows 7 deployment project and I have a requirement to place an RDP icon on a specific users desktop, lets call this user 'Guest'. The image itself will be completely vanilla and all user accounts will be created using commands in the Unattend file. The 'Guest' account will not be a local admin and so it will not be the account used for autologon during the application of the unattend file. As a result of this, the 'Guest' profile will not have been created so I'm unable to simply place the icon at C:\Users\Guest\Desktop. Is there a way to place an icon on this specific users desktop prior to logging in with it? I know there are ways around this i.e. include this account in the base image and log in with it in order to create the profile but I'd like to keep the base image as vanilla as possible. Any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  I am trying to write a script to configure a windows firewall (server 2008 & 2012 only) to adjust certain firewall settings after a machine has been added to a domain. I need to do this because one of the pre-installed programs on these machines we get only has the firewall rules setup for the public and private firewall profile. This script will be pushed out for other admins to use, and some of the machine will be in other languages. The command to change an existing firewall rule is as follows: netsh advfirewall firewall set rule name = "rule name goes here" new profile=domain This command works great. However, I need to do this for about 10 firewall ports AND since the program could be installed on computers with different languages, I can not just pass the name of all of the firewall rules. Is their some way to do this by supplying the port number? Or some way to specify a regular expression so I could use any rule that has a name LIKE 'test'?

• Create and Share a File (Also a mysterious error)

  My goal is to create a XML file and then send it through the share Intent. I'm able to create a XML file using this code FileOutputStream outputStream = context.openFileOutput(fileName, Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE); PrintStream printStream = new PrintStream(outputStream); String xml = this.writeXml(); // get XML here printStream.println(xml); printStream.close(); I'm stuck trying to retrieve a Uri to the output file in order to share it. I first tried to access the file by converting the file to a Uri File outFile = context.getFileStreamPath(fileName); return Uri.fromFile(outFile); This returns file:///data/data/com.my.package/files/myfile.xml but I cannot appear to attach this to an email, upload, etc. If I manually check the file length, it's proper and shows there is a reasonable file size. Next I created a content provider and tried to reference the file and it isn't a valid handle to the file. The ContentProvider doesn't ever seem to be called a any point. Uri uri = Uri.parse("content://" + CachedFileProvider.AUTHORITY + "/" + fileName); return uri; This returns content://com.my.package.provider/myfile.xml but I check the file and it's zero length. How do I access files properly? Do I need to create the file with the content provider? If so, how? Update Here is the code I'm using to share. Are you missing a call to unregisterReceiver()? I've researched this error and can't find anything obvious. Both of these links suggest that I need to unregister a receiver.   By secure, I don't mean the machines itself and access to it from the network. I mean, and I suppose this could be applied to any kind of hosting service, when you put all your intellectual property onto a hosted provider, what happens to the hard disks as they cycle through them? Say I've invested million into my software, and the information and data that I have is valuable, how can I be sure it isn't read off old disks as they're recycled? Is there some kind of standard to look for that ensures a provider is going to use the strictest form of intellectual property protection? Is SAS70 applicable here?

  How does an IIS App Pool determine its Internet Settings? I'm specifying a custom identity under which to host a .NET web application, a service account that is part of our Active Directory domain. When the application runs, it needs to make HTTP requests to other servers. This action causes it to read web and proxy settings from some location, but I can't understand where it goes for this information. Does it look: At the default account's settings on that box? At the default profile on the AD server? Its own local/roaming profile? A combination of the above? Somewhere completely different?

• Error connecting to the application.

  Hi guys, let me explain you the current scenario. We have a asp.net application on framework 2 running on intranet(Windows 2003 Server and Sql Server 2000). Now we have a xp machine where we installed and configured IIS with a virtual directory pointing on the local Xp machine and this machine is connected to our intranet. We have copied the same application files of the server to this XP machine. But the thing is the connection string/database of the application is pointing towards the intranet server. The problem is when we try to run the application on the XP machine we get this error : An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Is this query related or concerned with this site or stackoverflow ?

• SQL server could not connect: Lacked Sufficient Buffer Space...

  I recently moved my app to a new server - the app is written in c# against the 3.5 framework. The hardware is faster but the OS is the same (Win Server 2003). No new software is running. On the prior hardware the app would run for months with no problems. Now, in this new install, I get the following error after about 3 days, and the only way to fix it is to reboot: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full.) I have yet to find a service I can even shut down to make it work. Anyone had this before and know a solution?

• Personal Archive not Visible in Outlook

  I just added a second user to my Exchange 2010 box, it is in coexistence with exc2003. My account is already set up and working with a personal archive folder. The user I just set up however is unable to see the archive in Outlook. It is visible in OWA but not outlook. I have created a test profile on my PC with the users account and still no archive, if I jump back to my profile on the same box the archive is there so I know it is not an office versions issue. UPDATE: I have deleted all profiles from Outlook (one of which worked with the archive) now any new profiles including my own no longer show up. I think I have broken something In exchange. I get an auto discover certificate error which I am in the process of fixing. Perhaps the 2 problems are related. Also OWA on this server runs on a custom SSL port.

I was wondering which file I should place this bash command in so it will be run on startup. # Start the MongoDB server /Applications/MongoDB/bin/mongod --dbpath /usr/local/mongo/data --fork --logpath /usr/local/mongo/log I have been scouring the net and think it is between ~/.bashrc, ~/profile, /etc/bashrc, /etc/profile or ~/.bash_profile. Although I have tried these and they seem to run on terminal startup not Mac startup. Am I missing a file here? Thanks for any help you can give.

• Trouble running multiple Firefox versions on OS X Lion

  I am trying to use two versions of Firefox (11 and 13) on OS X Lion. I don't especially want to run two versions at the same time. I want to be able to run the version 11 when I choose the version 11 via the profile manager. The same for the version 13. Every time, I want to launch the version 11, the launcher launches the version 13... When I select the version 11 via the profile manager, Firefox 13 is launched. I created 2 automators apps (FF11.app and FF13.app) to launch Firefox : /Applications/Firefox11.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -no-remote -P FF11 & /dev/null & /Applications/Firefox13.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -no-remote -P FF13 & /dev/null & Any help would be greatly appreciated. • How to Check the Performance of VPS?

  I have subscribed to a VPS offered by a hosting provider. The guaranteed performance 1GB RAM, 1M bandwidth. But I found that from time to time the websites can be very slow, so slow that it could take more than 30 seconds to load a simple Joomla website. However the website resumed the usual speed after a few minutes. This created a problem for me when I want to report the performance problem to the hosting provider. They would say to me "see, no problem". Of course there is no problem because the problem is only there for a few minutes , and everything is normal. This ocassionally-slow problem will bug me a few days later and the cycle repeats. Any idea how to solve this problem?

  Unfortunately I only have a limited knowledge of server architecture, I come from a development background. I am looking to ensure my new app can scale properly using EC2. I currently have a T1.micro for development running Windows with SQL server 2008. The system allows students to come to our site to search for a mentor, update their profile with pictures and employment history etc. Roughly the same sort of work as a LinkedIn profile. I need this to be able to scale very quickly without wasted resources. I understand the following is important. Separation of data, application etc. I will achieve this I think by hosting images using S3, Database instance via RDS and upgrade the EC2 instance. My main question is: How do I push data / code out to multiple ec2 / RDS instances seamlessly?

• Bookmarks toolbar in Firefox 29?

  I love to have my favorite bookmarks (bookmarklets, and so on) on my firefox toolbar, but, surprise, in firefox 29 the toolbar is empty. I tried to use classic look restorer toolbar, but still the bookmarks toolbar is empty. When I add a new bookmark, I select "bookmark toolbar", but still is not shown on the toolbar. Should I wipe my firefox profile and try again (ugh, no, please), or it's because the firefox ui team decided that nobody likes toolbar? EDIT: I have the same problem at work, but here I don't have the permissions to uninstall and reinstall!! What can I do??? I can't just wipe my profile, because I must set up Firefox Sync in the classic way, that means I have to set up in Firefox<28 and then upgrade. When I drag bookmarks to the bookmarks tab, I get the forbidden icon (I took a photo because with a screenshot it doesn't show it)

• How to get a subdomain to point a different server than the main domain

  I have a site at say: foo.com and I would like the subdomain blog.foo.com to point to fooblog.com blog.foo.com - fooblog.com However, our DNS provider says that if we do an alias such as that, since the provider at fooblog.com does not recognize the name blog.foo.com. We asked if we could just point blog.foo.com at the IP address of fooblog.com and they say the same problem will occur. Any advice? Due to our configuration we can't really put the blog on foo.com. We are willing to move our hosting and even our domain name hosting if necessary. -- Yes, I am a n00b when it comes to DNS.

• Change ip route metric

  I'm constantly switching between eth0 and wlan0 interface on my archlinux because I often change OpenWrt fw images on my second router (which isn't connected anywhere). So I have problem with my routes when I'm connected to my wlan and want to connect with Ethernet to my router. Both routers are on 192.168.1.1/24 and after connecting to my Ethernet profile eth0 route becomes default one (which is ok for the time), because of smaller metric I guess. So I'm interested, how can I change routes metric so my applications can be connected to the internet (through out wlan)? Maybe there is solution not to use Default Gateway on Ethernet profile, however I still want to know how to change metric. Or default route if there are more then one.
