  • PostgreSQL server: 10k RPM SAS or Intel 520 Series SSD drives?

    - by Vlad
    We will be expanding the storage for a PostgreSQL server and one of the things we are considering is using SSDs (Intel 520 Series) instead of rotating discs (10k RPM). Price per GB is comparable and we expect improved performance, however we are concerned about longevity since our database usage pattern is quite write-heavy. We are also concerned about data corruption in case of power failure (due to SSDs write cache not flushing properly). We currently use RAID10 with 4 active HDDs (10k 146GB) and 1 spare configured in the controller. It's a HP DL380 G6 server with P410 Smart Array Controller and BBWC. What makes more sense: upgrading the drives to 300GB 10k RPM or using Intel 520 Series SSDs (240GB)?

  • How to establish the real-time communication between Shopping cart running MySQL and Internal System Running PostgreSQL [closed]

    - by Andrew
    I am thinking about the way of establishing some-sort of real-time connection between MySQLpowered shopping cart and internal system that is running on PostgreSQL. Could you give me some sort of insight on this topic? For example, I can write some sort of csv export application, then enable remote MySQL for over the internet connection and then import csv to mysql directly from PC. Or upload csv and run cron on server. But this way of import-export causing delays; so I would like to link databased (or some msort). I have never done it before and would like to hear some opinions about this. Another way "just a thought" might to implement triggers that would initiate the update process via csv; but again, I would like to avoid csv. Do you have any good advise? Maybe some specific examples?

  • PostgreSQL 9: Does Vacuuming a table on the primary replicate on the mirror?

    - by Scott Herbert
    Running PostgreSQL 9.0.1, with streaming replication keeping one read-only mirror instance up to date. Auto-vaccuum is on on the primary, except for a few tables which are not vacuumed by the auto-vacuum daemon, in an effort to reduce business-hour IO. These tables are "materialised views". Each night at midnight, we run a vacuum across the database in order to clean up those tables that are excluded from the auto-vacuum. I'm wondering if that process replicates across to the mirror, or if I need to set up vacuum on the mirror as well?

  • how to prevent log output from PostgreSQL stored procedure ?

    - by ssc
    I am running a number of PostgreSQL scripts that used to produce excessive log output. I managed to reduce most of the output to an acceptable amount by passing --quiet as parameter to the psql command line client and adding SET client_min_messages='warning'; to the beginning of my SQL scripts. This works fine for most basic statements like SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, etc.) However, when I call a stored function in a script using e.g. SELECT my_func(my_args);, there is still log output similar to my_func (omitted a long with many '-' here because SF thinks that's a headline) (1 row) The output is useless; it only makes me having to scroll back up a long way after the script has run and also makes it much harder than necessary to spot any relevant error output. How can I get rid of it ?

  • What postgresql client version should I build against, if server is 8.x?

    - by Ben Voigt
    I'm planning updates to a system that is currently running with 8.x server on Windows, 8.x client on Windows, and 8.x client on Linux. Obviously that seems like a bad choice of platform in a mixed environment, but the Linux machine has no persistent writable storage (as an anti-rootkit measure). I'm concerned with compatibility between versions right now. Can a linux postgresql 9.0.x client connect to a Windows 8.x server? The server is using some third-party binary extensions, so upgrading it is a more involved task and will be done later. If combining a 9.0.x client and 8.x server is discouraged, would latest 8.x clients be able to continue to connect if I did upgrade the server first? META: What tag is appropriate for backward-compatibility questions?

  • Database design for summarized data

    - by holden
    I have a new table I'm going to add to a bunch of other summarized data, basically to take some of the load off by calculating weekly avgs. My question is whether I would be better off with one model over the other. One model with days of the week as a column with an additional column for price or another model as a series of fields for the DOW each taking a price. I'd like to know which would save me in speed and/or headaches? Or at least the trade off. IE. ID OBJECT_ID MON TUE WED THU FRI SAT SUN SOURCE OR ID OBJECT_ID DAYOFWEEK PRICE SOURCE

  • Routing generated paths in Ruby on Rails

    - by True Soft
    I'm a beginner in ruby-on-rails and I spent my last hour trying to do the following thing: I have a ruby-on-rails application - the blog with posts and categories. I want to have another URL for the posts (I would like to have http://localhost:3000/news instead of http://localhost:3000/posts) First I tried to replace the controller and classes from Posts to News, but I gave up(because of the annoyng singular-plural thing). Then in my I replaced map.resources :posts (case 1) to map.resources :news, :controller => "posts" #case 2 or map.resources :posts, :as => 'news' #case 3 in routes.rb as I saw on some websites. It doesn't work either. How can I do this? EDIT: the output of rake routes is (only first lines): for case 1 and 3: posts GET /posts {:action=>"index", :controller=>"posts"} formatted_posts GET /posts.:format {:action=>"index", :controller=>"posts"} POST /posts {:action=>"create", :controller=>"posts"} POST /posts.:format {:action=>"create", :controller=>"posts"} new_post GET /posts/new {:action=>"new", :controller=>"posts"} formatted_new_post GET /posts/new.:format {:action=>"new", :controller=>"posts"} edit_post GET /posts/:id/edit {:action=>"edit", :controller=>"posts"} formatted_edit_post GET /posts/:id/edit.:format {:action=>"edit", :controller=>"posts"} post GET /posts/:id {:action=>"show", :controller=>"posts"} formatted_post GET /posts/:id.:format {:action=>"show", :controller=>"posts"} PUT /posts/:id {:action=>"update", :controller=>"posts"} PUT /posts/:id.:format {:action=>"update", :controller=>"posts"} DELETE /posts/:id {:action=>"destroy", :controller=>"posts"} DELETE /posts/:id.:format {:action=>"destroy", :controller=>"posts"} the output for case 2: news_index GET /news {:action=>"index", :controller=>"posts"} formatted_news_index GET /news.:format {:action=>"index", :controller=>"posts"} POST /news {:action=>"create", :controller=>"posts"} POST /news.:format {:action=>"create", :controller=>"posts"} new_news GET /news/new {:action=>"new", :controller=>"posts"} formatted_new_news GET /news/new.:format {:action=>"new", :controller=>"posts"} edit_news GET /news/:id/edit {:action=>"edit", :controller=>"posts"} formatted_edit_news GET /news/:id/edit.:format {:action=>"edit", :controller=>"posts"} news GET /news/:id {:action=>"show", :controller=>"posts"} formatted_news GET /news/:id.:format {:action=>"show", :controller=>"posts"} PUT /news/:id {:action=>"update", :controller=>"posts"} PUT /news/:id.:format {:action=>"update", :controller=>"posts"} DELETE /news/:id {:action=>"destroy", :controller=>"posts"} DELETE /news/:id.:format {:action=>"destroy", :controller=>"posts"} I have errors in case 2, because in my sourcecode I don't have edit_news, I have for example <%= link_to 'Edit', edit_post_path(post) %>

  • HTML encode UTF-8 string gets mangled into latin1

    - by Ken Mayer
    I'm parsing my nginx logs, and I want to discover some details from the HTTP_REFERER string, for example, the query string used to find the web site. One user typed in "México" which gets encoded in the log as "query=M%E9xico". Passing this through Rack::Utils.parse_query('query=M%E9xico') you get a hash, {"query" = "M?xico"} When you to stuff "M?exico" into Postgres (but not the more forgiving SQLite), it pukes because the string isn't proper UTF-8. Looking at http://rack.rubyforge.org/doc/Rack/Utils.html#M000324, unescape is packing a hex string. How can I convert the string back to UTF-8, or can I get parse_query to return UTF-8 in the first place.

  • How should I define a composite foreign key for domain constraints in the presence of surrogate keys

    - by Samuel Danielson
    I am writing a new app with Rails so I have an id column on every table. What is the best practice for enforcing domain constraints using foreign keys? I'll outline my thoughts and frustration. Here's what I would imagine as "The Rails Way". It's what I started with. Companies: id: integer, serial company_code: char, unique, not null Invoices: id: integer, serial company_id: integer, not null Products: id: integer, serial sku: char, unique, not null company_id: integer, not null LineItems: id: integer, serial invoice_id: integer, not null, references Invoices (id) product_id: integer, not null, references Products (id) The problem with this is that a product from one company might appear on an invoice for a different company. I added a (company_id: integer, not null) to LineItems, sort of like I'd do if only using natural keys and serials, then added a composite foreign key. LineItems (product_id, company_id) references Products (id, company_id) LineItems (invoice_id, company_id) references Invoices (id, company_id) This properly constrains LineItems to a single company but it seems over-engineered and wrong. company_id in LineItems is extraneous because the surrogate foreign keys are already unique in the foreign table. Postgres requires that I add a unique index for the referenced attributes so I am creating a unique index on (id, company_id) in Products and Invoices, even though id is simply unique. The following table with natural keys and a serial invoice number would not have these issues. LineItems: company_code: char, not null sku: char, not null invoice_id: integer, not null I can ignore the surrogate keys in the LineItems table but this also seems wrong. Why make the database join on char when it has an integer already there to use? Also, doing it exactly like the above would require me to add company_code, a natural foreign key, to Products and Invoices. The compromise... LineItems: company_id: integer, not null sku: integer, not null invoice_id: integer, not null does not require natural foreign keys in other tables but it is still joining on char when there is a integer available. Is there a clean way to enforce domain constraints with foreign keys like God intended, but in the presence of surrogates, without turning the schema and indexes into a complicated mess?

  • "PGError: no connection to the server" after idle

    - by user573484
    After my application sits idle overnight, when I try to access it in the morning I get a 500 Internal server error and the logs indicate "PGError: no connection to the server". After this first request if I refresh the page again everything is fine. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with apache 2, Passenger 3.0.2, Rails 2.3.8, and Postgres 8.4 on a remote server. Any ideas how to fix this? • Excessive httpd processes to stack up on my Rails + Apache2 + Passenger production setup?

    - by LeoAlmighty
    I have a Rails + Apache2 + Postgres + Passenger application running in production mode in OSX Snow Leopard. The application serves as a data warehouse for another application in the cloud so I'm constantly getting API calls to my OSX production build. After a recent reboot, I'm finding a ton of httpd processes stacking up and eventually requiring an apache reboot. I haven't changed any settings, everything was running fine before. Any ideas on the best way to troubleshoot this? $ ps -ef|grep httpd 0 6203 1 0 0:00.20 ?? 0:00.47 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6222 6203 0 0:00.05 ?? 0:00.11 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6224 6203 0 0:00.31 ?? 0:00.50 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6233 6203 0 0:00.05 ?? 0:00.10 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6234 6203 0 0:00.43 ?? 0:00.64 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6243 6203 0 0:00.02 ?? 0:00.03 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6319 6203 0 0:00.08 ?? 0:00.16 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6334 6203 0 0:00.02 ?? 0:00.05 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6469 6203 0 0:00.04 ?? 0:00.08 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6487 6203 0 0:00.36 ?? 0:00.48 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6593 6203 0 0:00.36 ?? 0:00.48 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6709 6203 0 0:00.04 ?? 0:00.08 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6718 6203 0 0:00.04 ?? 0:00.10 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6834 6203 0 0:00.01 ?? 0:00.03 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6852 6203 0 0:00.00 ?? 0:00.00 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND 70 6853 6203 0 0:00.01 ?? 0:00.02 /usr/sbin/httpd -D FOREGROUND

  • IRC-Bot in Ruby: PRIVMSG sends only last word of string

    - by Marius Schuller
    I'm on learning ruby and I took a already done IRC-Bot from the web which just connects to a given serven and not much more. Then I added some features (in my case I try to implement a voting where to eat lunch). Now these work fine so far but I don't know if the ruby script does something wrong or there is something wrong with the IRC-server. On the one I tested the Bot it worked well, giving an output like this: 09:14 < Wayne> !EssNA 09:14 < EssNABot> [-=EssNA-Vote=-] 09:14 < EssNABot> Options are: 09:14 < EssNABot> McDonalds. 0 09:14 < EssNABot> Currywurst 0 09:14 < EssNABot> Hendl..... 0 09:14 < EssNABot> Salatbar.. 0 09:14 < EssNABot> Griechr... 0 09:14 < EssNABot> Metzger... 0 09:14 < EssNABot> Merowinger 0 09:14 < EssNABot> Lidl...... 0 09:14 < EssNABot> Voting time is 600 seconds. The bot itself sees that like this: --> PRIVMSG #test [-=EssNA-Vote=-] --> PRIVMSG #test Options are: --> PRIVMSG #test McDonalds. 0 --> PRIVMSG #test Currywurst 0 --> PRIVMSG #test Hendl..... 0 --> PRIVMSG #test Salatbar.. 0 --> PRIVMSG #test Griechr... 0 --> PRIVMSG #test Metzger... 0 --> PRIVMSG #test Merowinger 0 --> PRIVMSG #test Lidl...... 0 --> PRIVMSG #test Voting time is 600 seconds. But on the irc which it should run on if its done the output users will see looks like this: 09:14 < Wayne> !EssNA 09:14 < EssNABot> [-=EssNA-Vote=-] 09:14 < EssNABot> are: 09:14 < EssNABot> 0 09:14 < EssNABot> 0 09:14 < EssNABot> 0 09:14 < EssNABot> 0 09:14 < EssNABot> 0 09:14 < EssNABot> 0 09:14 < EssNABot> 0 09:14 < EssNABot> 0 09:14 < EssNABot> seconds. The output the bot gives is the same as on the server on which the output for users works. Seems to me that the problem is the IRC-server, maybe someone can point me in the right direction? Yours, Marius

  • named_scope + average is causing the table to be specified more then once in the sql query run on po

    - by hadees
    I have a named scopes like so... named_scope :gender, lambda { |gender| { :joins => {:survey_session => :profile }, :conditions => { :survey_sessions => { :profiles => { :gender => gender } } } } } and when I call it everything works fine. I also have this average method I call... Answer.average(:rating, :include => {:survey_session => :profile}, :group => "profiles.career") which also works fine if I call it like that. However if I were to call it like so... Answer.gender('m').average(:rating, :include => {:survey_session => :profile}, :group => "profiles.career") I get... ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: PGError: ERROR: table name "profiles" specified more than once : SELECT avg("answers".rating) AS avg_rating, profiles.career AS profiles_career FROM "answers" LEFT OUTER JOIN "survey_sessions" survey_sessions_answers ON "survey_sessions_answers".id = "answers".survey_session_id LEFT OUTER JOIN "profiles" ON "profiles".id = "survey_sessions_answers".profile_id INNER JOIN "survey_sessions" ON "survey_sessions".id = "answers".survey_session_id INNER JOIN "profiles" ON "profiles".id = "survey_sessions".profile_id WHERE ("profiles"."gender" = E'm') GROUP BY profiles.career Which is a little hard to read but says I'm including the table profiles twice. If I were to just remove the include from average it works but it isn't really practical because average is actually being called inside a method which gets passed the scoped. So there is some times gender or average might get called with out each other and if either was missing the profile include it wouldn't work. So either I need to know how to fix this apparent bug in Rails or figure out a way to know what scopes were applied to a ActiveRecord::NamedScope::Scope object so that I could check to see if they have been applied and if not add the include for average.

  • How to convert a table column to another data type

    - by holden
    I have a column with the type of Varchar in my Postgres database which I meant to be integers... and now I want to change them, unfortunately this doesn't seem to work using my rails migration. change_column :table1, :columnB, :integer So I tried doing this: execute 'ALTER TABLE "table1" ALTER COLUMN "columnB" TYPE integer USING CAST(columnB AS INTEGER)' but cast doesn't work in this instance because some of the column are null... any ideas?

  • Rails: Converting from MySQL to PostGres breaks Geokit Distance Calculations???

    - by Kevin
    I recently switched my database from MySQL to PostGres. I also use GeoKit. When I started my app up with the new database already seeded, I get the following error: PGError: ERROR: function radians(character varying) does not exist LINE 1: ...COS(0.661045389762993)*COS(-2.12957994527573)*COS(RADIANS(ti... ^ HINT: No function matches the given name and argument types. You might need to add explicit type casts. Anyone know why this is breaking now? I know GeoKit still works because it's still performing the geocoding in the model per ticket when the database is seeded, it just won't do the distance calculations correctly.

  • PG::Error: ERROR: operator does not exist: integer ~~ unknown

    - by rsvmrk
    I'm making a search-function in a Rails project with Postgres as db. Here's my code def self.search(search) if search find(:all, :conditions => ["LOWER(name) LIKE LOWER(?) OR LOWER(city) LIKE LOWER(?) OR LOWER(address) LIKE LOWER(?) OR (venue_type) LIKE (?)", "%#{search}%", "%#{search}%", "%#{search}%", "%#{search}%"]) else find(:all) end end But my problem is that "venue_type" is an integer. I've made a case switch for venue_type def venue_type_check case self.venue_type when 1 "Pub" when 2 "Nattklubb" end end Now to my question: How can I find something in my query when venue_type is an int?

  • Heroku Postgres Error: PGError: ERROR: relation "organizations" does not exist (ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid)

    - by Mark
    I'm having a problem deploying my Rails app to Heroku, where this error is thrown when trying to access the app: PGError: ERROR: relation "organizations" does not exist (ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid) SELECT a.attname, format_type(a.atttypid, a.atttypmod), d.adsrc, a.attnotnull FROM pg_attribute a LEFT JOIN pg_attrdef d ON a.attrelid = d.adrelid AND a.attnum = d.adnum WHERE a.attrelid = '"organizations"'::regclass AND a.attnum > 0 AND NOT a.attisdropped ORDER BY a.attnum Anybody have any ideas? This is a first for me, especially because I've been working with Heroku for a year on other apps, and haven't see anything like this. Of course, everything works on local SQLite. Thanks in advance for any help! --Mark

  • 2 Rails Apps, 1 Database (using Heroku)

    - by Paul A.
    I've made 2 apps, App A and App B. App A's sole purpose is to allow users to sign up and App B's purpose is to take select users from App A email them. Since App A & B were created independently & are hosted in 2 separate Heroku instances, how can App B access the users database in App A? Is there a way to push certain relevant rows from App A to App B?

  • Remove ActiveRecord in Rails 3 (beta)

    - by Splash
    Now that Rails 3 beta is out, I thought I'd have a look at rewriting an app I have just started work on in Rails 3 beta, both to get a feel for it and get a bit of a head-start. The app uses MongoDB and MongoMapper for all of its models nad therefore has no need for ActiveRecord. In the previous version, I am unloading activerecord in the following way: config.frameworks -= [ :active_record ] # inside environment.rb In the latest version this does not work - it just throws an error: /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/railties-3.0.0.beta/lib/rails/configuration.rb:126:in `frameworks': config.frameworks in no longer supported. See the generated config/boot.rb for steps on how to limit the frameworks that will be loaded (RuntimeError) from *snip* Of course, I have looked at the boot.rb as it suggested, but as far as I can see, there is no clue here as to how I might go about unloading AR. The reason I need to do this is because not only is it silly to be loading something I don't want, but it is complaining about its inability to make a DB connection even when I try to run a generator for a controller. This is because I've wiped database.yml and replaced it with connection details for MongoDB in order to use this gist for using database.yml for MongoDB connection details. Not sure why it needs to be able to initiate a DB connection at all just to generate a controller anyway.... Is anyone aware of the correct Rails 3 way of doing this?

  • Activesupport::JSON.decode crashes on this,

    - by Waheedi
    I wonder why i cant decode this json string, all what i want is to convert this to a proper Ruby hash, anyone have an idea? i think the array of objects is cracking it ? Parameters: {"{\"origins\":"=>{"{\"origin\":\"this\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"dont me please\"},{\"origin\":\"and me please\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"okay\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"go\"},{\"origin\":\"go\"}"=>{",\"url\":\"file:///Users/waheed/Desktop/untitled.html\",\"apik\":\"helloapik\",\"host\":\"http://localhost:3000/\"}"=>nil}}} now in my javascript im doing this //this is the object im trying to send over xmlhttprequest and im using JSON.org library which has the stringify method function tObject(origins,url,apik){ this.origins=origins; //this is an array of string this.url=url; this.apik=apik; } var t = new tObject(myStringArr,"www.foo.com","welcome guys"); ajax = new Ajax(); //this is an xhcon class you dont worry about it url here http://xkr.us/code/javascript/XHConn/ ajax.connect("http://localhost:3000/","POST",JSON.stringify(t), callback); in my rails app the parameters that has been posted looks like this: Parameters: {"{\"origins\":"={"{\"origin\":\"this\"},{\"origin\":\"yo yo\"},{\"origin\":\" me please\"},{\"origin\":\"and me please\"},{\"origin\":\"here\"},{\"origin\":\"and again\"},{\"origin\":\"again\"},{\"origin\":\"okay\"},{\"origin\":\"yes\"},{\"origin\":\"go\"},{\"origin\":\"go\"}"={",\"url\":\"www.foo.com\",\"apik\":\"welcome guys\"}"=nil}}} why it results with nil at the last ? i've tried to decode it but it could not work because it blame the string is not json string ?!!? • onComplete for Ajax.Request sometimes does not hide the load animation in Prototype

    - by TenJack
    I have a Ajax.Request in which I use onLoading and onComplete to show and hide a load animation gif. The problem is that every 10 clicks or so, the load animation fails to hide and just stays there animating even though the ajax request has returned successfully. I have a number of div elements that each has its own respective load animation and an onclick with the Ajax.Request that looks like this: <div id="word_block_<%= word_obj.word %>" class="word_block" > <%= image_tag("ajax-loader_word_block.gif", :id => "load_animation_#{word_obj.word}", :style => 'display:none') %> <a href="#" onclick="new Ajax.Request('/test/ajax_load', {asynchronous:true, evalScripts:true, onLoading:function() { Element.show('load_animation_<%= word_obj.word %>')}, onComplete:function(){ Element.hide('load_animation_<%= word_obj.word %>')}}); return false;">Click Here</a> </div> Does it look like anything could be wrong with this? Maybe I should try removing the inline onclick and add an onclick programmatically with javascript? I really have no idea why this keeps happening. I am using the prototype library with ruby on rails.

  • Rails, if instance is in a scope?

    - by Joseph Silvashy
    I using rails 3 and I can't seem to check if a given instance is in a scope, see here: p = Post.find 6 +----+----------+-------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+-----------+ | id | title | publish_date | created_at | updated_at | published | +----+----------+-------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+-----------+ | 6 | asfdfdsa | 2010-03-28 22:33:00 UTC | 2010-03-28 22:33:46 UTC | 2010-03-28 22:33:46 UTC | true | +----+----------+-------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+-----------+ I have a menu scope which looks like: scope :menu, where("published != ?", false).limit(4) When I run it I get: Post.menu.all +----+------------------+------------------+------------------+-------------------+-----------+ | id | title | publish_date | created_at | updated_at | published | +----+------------------+------------------+------------------+-------------------+-----------+ | 1 | Lorem ipsum | 2010-03-23 07... | 2010-03-23 07... | 2010-03-28 21:... | true | | 2 | fdasf | 2010-03-28 21... | 2010-03-28 21... | 2010-03-28 21:... | true | | 3 | Ruby’s Imple... | 2010-03-28 21... | 2010-03-28 21... | 2010-03-28 21:... | true | | 4 | dsaD | 2010-03-28 22... | 2010-03-28 22... | 2010-03-28 22:... | true | +----+------------------+------------------+------------------+-------------------+-----------+ Which is correct, but if I try to check if p is in the the menu scope using: Post.menu.exists?(p) I get true when it should be false What is the proper way to find out if a given instance of something is in a scope?

  • Why is "rake tests" running an empty suite when I use shoulda?

    - by ryeguy
    So here is my test suite: class ReleaseTest < ActiveSupport::TestCase should_not_allow_values_for :title, '', 'blah', 'blah blah' should_allow_values_for :title, 'blah - bleh', 'blah blah - bleh bleh' def test_something assert true end end Shoulda's macros generate 5 tests, and then I have test_something below (just to see if that would matter), totalling 6 tests. They all pass as you can see below, but then it runs a 0-test suite. This happens even if I completely empty out ReleaseTest. This problem only exists if I have config.gem 'shoulda' in my environment.rb. If I explicitly do require 'shoulda' at the top of my tests, everything works fine.
