  • How to sort my paws?

    In my previous question I got an excellent answer that helped me detect where a paw hit a pressure plate, but now I'm struggling to link these results to their corresponding paws: I manually annotated the paws (RF=right front, RH= right hind, LF=left front, LH=left hind). As you can see there's clearly a pattern repeating pattern and it comes back in aknist every measurement. Here's a link to a presentation of 6 trials that were manually annotated. My initial thought was to use heuristics to do the sorting, like: There's a ~60-40% ratio in weight bearing between the front and hind paws; The hind paws are generally smaller in surface; The paws are (often) spatially divided in left and right. However, I’m a bit skeptical about my heuristics, as they would fail on me as soon as I encounter a variation I hadn’t thought off. They also won’t be able to cope with measurements from lame dogs, whom probably have rules of their own. Furthermore, the annotation suggested by Joe sometimes get's messed up and doesn't take into account what the paw actually looks like. Based on the answers I received on my question about peak detection within the paw, I’m hoping there are more advanced solutions to sort the paws. Especially because the pressure distribution and the progression thereof are different for each separate paw, almost like a fingerprint. I hope there's a method that can use this to cluster my paws, rather than just sorting them in order of occurrence. So I'm looking for a better way to sort the results with their corresponding paw. For anyone up to the challenge, I have pickled a dictionary with all the sliced arrays that contain the pressure data of each paw (bundled by measurement) and the slice that describes their location (location on the plate and in time). To clarfiy: walk_sliced_data is a dictionary that contains ['ser_3', 'ser_2', 'sel_1', 'sel_2', 'ser_1', 'sel_3'], which are the names of the measurements. Each measurement contains another dictionary, [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10] (example from 'sel_1') which represent the impacts that were extracted. Also note that 'false' impacts, such as where the paw is partially measured (in space or time) can be ignored. They are only useful because they can help recognizing a pattern, but won't be analyzed.   • Error regarding DNS - "... must be able to resolve names ..." (Windows Server 2008 R2 installation)

    I'm trying to replace our old Windows 2000 Server by a Windows Server 2008 R2. I followed the guide at MSDN. Coming to the step "Install Active Directory Domain Services..." the option to install the DNS-Server was grayed-out. According to Microsoft Support I skipped the DNS Server Installation at this point. (Because of the single-label DNS name) I then installed the DNS-Server role and created a forward-lookup-zone for the domain. When running the Best Practices Analyzer of the DNS-Server role I get these two messages for both domain controllers (the old win2k and the new win 2008 R2): The DNS server [IP address] on [adapter name] must be able to resolve names in the primary DNS domain zone The DNS server [IP address] on [adapter name] must be able to resolve names in the forest root domain name zone The TechCenter articles suggest to use a proper DNS Server - that's pointless when I try to configure a proper DNS Server. How do I configure the DNS Server in a way that it resolves these zones? Or are these errors irrelevant? dcdiag /v /test:DNS Seems to run fine...

  • LDAP Authentication fails with 500 or 401 depending on bind for Apache2

    I'm setting up LDAP authentication for our Subversion repository hosted through Apache on a RHEL 5 system. I run into two different issues when I try to authenticate against Active Directory. <Location /svn/> Dav svn SvnParentPath /srv/subversion SVNListParentPath On AuthType Basic AuthName "Subversion Repository" AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthLDAPBindDN "cn=userfoo,ou=Service Accounts,ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" AuthLDAPBindPassword "mypass" AuthLDAPUrl "ldap://my.example.com:389/ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com?sAMAccountName?sub?(objectClass=user)" NONE Require valid-user </Location> If I use the above configuration it continually prompts me with the Basic prompt and I have to eventually select Cancel, which returns a 401 (Authorization Required). If I comment out the bind parts it returns 500 (Internal Server Error), griping that authentication failed: [Mon Nov 02 12:00:00 2009] [warn] [client x.x.x.x] [10744] auth_ldap authenticate: user myuser authentication failed; URI /svn [ldap_search_ext_s() for user failed][Operations error] When I perform the bind using ldapsearch and filter for a simple attribute it returns correctly: ldapsearch -h my.example.com -p 389 -D "cn=userfoo,ou=Service Accounts,ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" -b "ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" -w - "&(objectClass=user)(cn=myuser)" sAMAccountName Unfortunately I have no control or insight into the AD part of the system, only the RHEL server. Does anyone know what the hang up is here?

  • Can't log in using second domain controller when first DC is unreachable

    Hi, We're a small web development company. Our domain has two DCs: a main one (BEEHIVE, 192.168.3.20) in the datacenter and a second one (SPHERE2, 10.0.66.19) in the office. The office is connected to the datacenter via a VPN. We recently had a brief network outage in the office. During this outage, we weren't able to access the domain from our office machines. I had hoped that they would fail over to the DC in the office, but that didn't happen. So I'm trying to figure out why. I'm not an expert on Active Directory so maybe I'm missing something obvious. Both domain controllers are running a DNS server. Each office workstation is configured to use the datacenter DC as its primary DNS server, and the office DC as its secondary: DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.3.20 10.0.66.19 Both DNS servers are working, and both domain controllers are working (at least, I can connect to them both using AD Users + Computers).   • Login with Enterprise Principal Name using sssd AD backend in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

    I’m running sssd version 1.11 with the AD backend in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (1.11.5-1ubuntu3) to authenticate users from Active Directory running on Windows Server 2012 R2, and I’m trying to achieve logins with the User Principal Name for all users of the domain. But the UPN are always Enterprise Principal Names. Let-me illustrate the problem with my user account: Domain: local.example.com sAMAccountName: ferrao UPN: [email protected] (there’s no local in the UPN) I can successfully login with the sAMAccountName atribute, which is fine, but I can’t login with [email protected] which is my UPN. The optimum solution for me is to allow logins from sAMAccountName and the UPN (User Principal Name). If’s not possible, the UPN should be the right way instead of the sAMAccountName. Another annoyance is the homedir pattern with those options in sssd.conf: default_shell = /bin/bash fallback_homedir = /home/%d/%u What I would like to achieve is separated home directories from the EPN. For example: /home/example.com/user /home/whatever.example.com/user But with this pattern I can’t map the way I would like to do.   • Domain Controller DNS Best Practice/Practical Considerations for Domain Controllers in Child Domains

    I'm setting up several child domains in an existing Active Directory forest and I'm looking for some conventional wisdom/best practice guidance for configuring both DNS client settings on the child domain controllers and for the DNS zone replication scope. Assuming a single domain controller in each domain and assuming that each DC is also the DNS server for the domain (for simplicity's sake) should the child domain controller point to itself for DNS only or should it point to some combination (primary VS. secondary) of itself and the DNS server in the parent or root domain? If a parentchildgrandchild domain hierarchy exists (with a contiguous DNS namespace) how should DNS be configured on the grandchild DC? Regarding the DNS zone replication scope, if storing each domain's DNS zone on all DNS servers in the domain then I'm assuming a DNS delegation from the parent to the child needs to exist and that a forwarder from the child to the parent needs to exist. With a parentchildgrandchild domain hierarchy then does each child forward to the direct parent for the direct parent's zone or to the root zone? Does the delegation occur at the direct parent zone or from the root zone? If storing all DNS zones on all DNS servers in the forest does it make the above questions regarding the replication scope moot? Does the replication scope have some bearing on the DNS client settings on each DC?

  • Moving a large number of files in one directory to multiple directories

    I am looking to create a Windows batch script to move about 2,000 files and splitting them up so that there are 10 files per folder. I have attempted creating a batch script but the syntax really boggles my mind. Here is what I have so far @echo off :: Config parameters set /a groupsize = 10 :: initial counter, everytime counter is 1, we create new folder set /a n = 1 :: folder counter set /a nf = 1 for %%f in (*.txt) do ( :: if counter is 1, create new folder if %n% == 1 ( md folder%nf% set /a n += 1 ) :: move file into folder mv -Y %%f folder%nf%\%%f :: reset counter if larger than group size if %n% == %groupsize% ( set /a n = 1 ) else ( set /a n += 1 ) ) pause Basically what this script does is loop through each .txt file in the directory. It creates a new directory in the beginning and moves 10 files into that directory, then creates a new folder again and moves another 10 files into that directory, and so on. However, I'm having problems where the n variable is not being incremented in the loop? I'm sure there's other errors too since the CMD window closes on me even with pause. Any help or guidance is appreciated, thanks for your time!

  • IIS Digest repeatedly asking for authentication

    I have a development copy of an ASP.NET intranet site checked out and running on my local machine. We're using digest authentication to allow users to log in using their active directory accounts. On my development copy only, Digest sometimes will repeatedly prompt for login information usually ~9 times per page request. After repeatedly logging in (or it also works to cancel out of 8 out of the 9 prompts), I can use the site as normal. I cannot pinpoint what is triggering the issue. Sometimes this problem triggers upon the next page request, sometimes after I edited/saved/refreshed a page, and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Each prompt triggers several logon (Event ID 4624 & 4672) security events in the Events Viewer. Shortly after each burst of logon events, I'll see a burst of logoff events (Event ID A co-worker who has a nearly an identical setup (Windows 7, IIS 7) is not experiencing the issue. Our production copy (that is running on a different server) also does not experience the issue. We've tried to compare our settings in IIS, not really finding any differences. I'm using chrome but I've experienced the issue in other browsers.

[ "Bob": 3, "Alice: 2, "Jane": 1, ] When incrementing the counts "Alice" += 2 the order should be maintained: [ "Alice: 4, "Bob": 3, "Jane": 1, ] When all is in memory there rather simple ways (some more or some less) to efficiently implement this. (using an index, insert-sort etc) The question though is: What's the most promising approach when the list does not fit into memory. Bonus question: What if not even the index fits into memory? How would you approach this?

  • Central Authentication For Windows, Linux, Network Devices

    I'm trying to find a way to centralize user management & authentication for a large collection of Windows & Linux Servers, including network devices (Cisco, HP, Juniper). Options include RADIUS/LDAP/TACACS/... Idea is to keep track with staff changes, and access towards these devices. Preferably a system that is compatible with both Linux, Windows & those network devices. Seems like Windows is the most stubborn of them all, for Linux & Network equipment it's easier to implement a solution (using PAM.D for instance). Should we look for an Active Directory/Domain Controller solution for Windows? Fun sidenote; we also manage client systems, that are often already in a domain. Trust-relationships between Domain Controllers isn't always an option for us (due to client security restrictions). I'd love to hear fresh ideas on how to implement such a centralized authentication "portal" for those systems.

    I have a list of dictionaries: [{'title':'New York Times', 'title_url':'New_York_Times','id':4}, {'title':'USA Today','title_url':'USA_Today','id':6}, {'title':'Apple News','title_url':'Apple_News','id':2}] I'd like to sort it by the title, so elements with A go before Z: [{'title':'Apple News','title_url':'Apple_News','id':2}, {'title':'New York Times', 'title_url':'New_York_Times','id':4}, {'title':'USA Today','title_url':'USA_Today','id':6}] What's the best way to do this? Also, is there a way to ensure the order of each dictionary key stays constant, e.g., always title, title_url, then id? Thank you.

Here's an example of what the XML is like: <?xml version="1.0"?> <xmltop> <child1 num="1"> <data>12345</data> </child1> <child1 num="2"> <data>12345</data> </child1> <child2 num="3"> <data>12345</data> </child2> <child2 num="2"> <data>12345</data> </child2> <child2 num="1"> <data>12345</data> </child2> </xmltop> And this is the XSL file I'm using: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:template match="/xmltop"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates> <xsl:sort select="@num"/> </xsl:apply-templates> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="child2"> <xsl:copy-of select="."/> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> This creates problems for me because the nodes are stripped of their tags, and their contents remain, making my XML invalid. I'm not really an expert at XSL so pardon me if this is a dumb question. The <child2>'s are sorted properly. Thank you.
