  • Why is firefox 4 not HW accelerated?

    At first i thought it was my computer but then i tried chrome. Why isnt firefox not hardware accelerated? The first screenshot shows chrome at 23% usage. The 2nd shows 59%. I have 2 cpus which is why it isnt 100% usage.   • Teamcity build agent gives 504 gateway timeout

    I have a new teamcity build agent machine, which when started up tries to connect to the build server and fails. It never shows up in the connected, disconnected or unauthorised agents tabs of the build server web interface. The logs on the build agent show that it fails to connect with a 504 gateway timeout.     I have two LDS servers on the same subnet. They replicate well. If I change an attribute, it gets replicated after 15 seconds. LDS is configured to honor password policies. When a user makes too many wrong password attemps, his account is locked and that user's lockoutTime attribute is set accordingly. But lockoutTime is not replicated as urgent. In fact, it is not replicated unless there is another change somewhere in the directory. The lockoutTime attribute will be replicated. Here is an (edited Wireshark) trace.   • Firefox Using Prism Website Icon instead of Firefox Icon in Taskbar

    A while back, I created a website shortcut using the now discontinued Prism extension for Firefox. This worked fine at the time. However, now that Prism has been discontinued, whenever I open Firefox, when the shortcut for FF shows up my Windows taskbar, it does so with the website favico for the old Prism shortcut site that I created. If I right-click on the taskbar shortcut, it shows the old shortcut to the Prism app (even though I deleted its entry manually from C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\WebApps). If I then click on [Pin to Taskbar] and then right click and [Unpin from Taskbar], the icon will switch back to the FF icon. If I righ-click on it a third time, it will switch back to the Prism site favico. I assume that if I were able to install Prism, then it would give me some way to remove the site. However, since Prism is discontinued and incompatible with the current version of FF, that is not an option. What I would like to do: completely remove references to the Prism app from my computer: Disassociate the prism website Favico from Firefox, so that it never replaces the FF icon in the Windows taskbar Shortcut to the Prism site will never shot up in the right-click menu for FF

    Hi, I'd like to see a timeline of events from a database in a "timeline chart", that should look like this: http://i46.tinypic.com/sw3dj5.png - I've made me a small c# program that paints this onto a Bitmap, but that isn't the way to go. I have input data that has 3 fields: StartX EndX Y 2596 15008 1 5438 6783 2 5450 5453 4 5456 5459 4 5462 5466 4 5470 5474 4 5477 5657 5 5662 5665 4 5668 5671 4 As the picture shows, for each line I'd like to have a line from StartX to EndX with a Y value of Y. Stacked bar chart almost solves my problem, but I don't want to have a new line on the chart for every row, I have thousands of rows and I'd like to have X axis as the time axis, and view which events (Y is the type of the event) happened simultaneously. The image ( http://i46.tinypic.com/sw3dj5.png) I've generated with a simple C# program shows that the event SYSTEM was active all the time, and the events TECH and BREAK were almost exclusive, but had some overlaps. I'd like to at least know the correct direction which I should take; I'm lost in the multitude of Excel chart types. Thanks.

And mysql error log shows the following InnoDB: Error: log file ./ib_logfile0 is of different size 0 5242880 bytes InnoDB: than specified in the .cnf file 0 268435456 bytes! 100118 20:52:52 [ERROR] Plugin 'InnoDB' init function returned error. 100118 20:52:52 [ERROR] Plugin 'InnoDB' registration as a STORAGE ENGINE failed. 100118 20:52:52 [ERROR] Unknown/unsupported table type: InnoDB 100118 20:52:52 [ERROR] Aborting So I commented out this line # innodb_log_file_size = 256M And it restarted mysql successfully. I wonder what's the "5242880 bytes of log file" showed in mysql error? It's the first database on InnoDB engine on this server so when and where is that log file created? In this case, how can I enable innodb_log_file_size directive in my.cnf? EDIT I tried to delete /var/lib/mysql/ib_logfile0 and restart mysqld but it still failed.   • Time machine disk icon on boot disk

    The icon for Macintosh HD (my boot disk) shows as a Time Machine disk. There is a file .com.apple.timemachine.supported in the root of the disk. If I delete the file and restart the computer, the icon goes back to a normal HD icon. However, the .com.apple.timemachine.supported file is recreated at some point on boot because when I log in again, the file has been recreated. If then reboot again, the icon goes back to being a Time Machine one. Any ideas about what is creating this file and why? More importantly - how can I get it to stop? It looks like something thinks the boot disk should be a Time Machine volume, but what? Console.app shows the following messages at approximately hourly intervals: 19/01/2010 19:23:54 /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[7459] Starting standard backup 19/01/2010 19:23:54 /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[7459] Cookie file is not readable or does not exist at path: /.<12 hex digits of MAC address for en0> 19/01/2010 19:23:54 /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[7459] Volume at path / does not appear to be the correct backup volume for this computer.   • haproxy and tomcat intermittent hangs

    I am trying to run haproxy in front of tomcat on a Solaris x86 box, but I am getting intermittent failures. At seemingly random intervals, the request just hangs until haproxy times out the connection. I thought maybe it was my app, but I've been able to reproduce it with the tomcat manager app, and hitting tomcat directly there is no problems at all. Hitting it repeatedly with curl will cause the error within 10-15 tries curl -ikL http://admin:admin@<my server>:81/manager/status haproxy is running on port 81, tomcat on port 7000. haproxy returns a 504 gateway timeout to the client, and puts this into the log file: Sep 7 21:39:53 localhost haproxy[16887]: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:65168 [07/Sep/2009:21:39:23.005] http_proxy http_proxy/tomcat7000 5/0/0/-1/30014 504 194 - - sHNN 0/0/0/0/0 0/0 "GET /manager/status HTTP/1.1" Tomcat shows nothing, no error in the logs and no indication that the request ever makes it to the tomcat server.   • List of Hidden / Virtual Windows User Accounts

    I’m trying to find a way to get a comprehensive list of user accounts on a Windows 7 system, including hidden ones. The User Accounts dialog (>control userpasswords2) only shows the normal user accounts, and even the Local User and Groups editor only shows normal user accounts and standard hidden/disabled ones like Administrator and Guest. The Select Users or Groups dialog has a Find Now button which which combines users and groups, but alas, it has the same contents as the LUG. I’m looking for a more comprehensive list that includes “super-hidden” / virtual user accounts like TrustedInstaller (or to be more accurate, NT Service\TrustedInstaller—notice the different “domain”). I checked HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList, but the SpecialAccounts key does not exist. I also checked HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList, and while it does have the SystemProfile, LocalService, and NetworkService accounts listed, it does not have others (like TrustedInstaller and its ilk). TrustedInstaller specifically is a little confusing because it is a user, a service, and an executable file. I am using it as an example because it is “super hidden” in that it does not seem to be listed in any sort of user list. (As an experiment, I tried searching the whole registry for “trustedinstaller” to see if I could find a place where it is listed as a user, but found none.) To be clear, what I am looking for is a list of all accounts that can be used in a user input-field such as in permissions dialogs or as a runas argument.

    Hi All, Dell PE R710, received from Dell in the following state : Windows Disk 0 1800GB ( Volume C & D ) Windows Disk 1 526 GB (Volume E ) Perc6i Integrated Raid Controller 6 x 500GB Nearline SAS 7200RPM HDDs Raid 5 Configuration with two Virtual Disks I have installed Dell open Manage and it shows the following : Virtual Disk 0 - State : Background Initialization ( 7% ) Virtual Disk 1 - State : Background Initialization ( 25% ) Now when I click on Virtual Disk 0 it shows me all 6 Disks and the same happens when I click on Virtual Disk 1 it displays all 6 disks. But when I click on Storage Perc6i Connector 0 I get 4 Physical disks with the following numbers : Physical Disk 0:0:0 Physical Disk 0:0:1 Physical Disk 0:0:2 Physical Disk 0:0:3 When I click on Storage Perc6i Connector 1 I get 2 Physical Disks Listed in the following way : Physical Disk 1:0:4 Physical Disk 1:0:5 I am a little confused in this description, does this 1:0:4 interprets to Controller1, Disk4. Does this integrated raid card have two controllers coming out of it ? Also, When I first switched on the machine, the boot partition was showing 1GB Available out of 40GB, now its showing 38GB available out of 40GB. Is this because the Virtual Disks are still Initializing ? Any recommendations or suggestions ? Also, this server have 6 x 500GB NearLine SAS Hard drives, what would be a good raid config ? We are planning to use it for Hyper-V with quite a few (7 or 8) virtual servers, your suggestions would be helpful. Also, while the virtual disks are in a initialization state, can I destroy and re-create the raid configuration ? I would have to do it at the BIOS CTRL-M ? Thanks and Regards

    When I log on using correct user name\password (I always copy-paste them) I get 401.1 error. User name and password are correct (user is created on server locally, not a domain one). I can run program as this user (runas /noprofile /user:tmp notepad.exe). Basic authorization's default domain is a server name, realm is empty. I've saved FailedReqLogFile. AUTH_BASIC_LOGON_FAILED shows ErrorCode="Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (0x8007052e)" and MODULE_SET_RESPONSE_ERROR_STATUS shows ModuleName="BasicAuthenticationModule", Notification="AUTHENTICATE_REQUEST", HttpStatus="401", HttpReason="Unauthorized", HttpSubStatus="1", ErrorCode="Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (0x8007052e)", ConfigExceptionInfo="" And one more thing - if I use my domain login\password it woks! Basic Authentications is only enabled authentication in application...   • Why does my dd backup of MacBook OS X fail to boot upon restore?

    I created a backup of a MacBook hard drive (WD2500BEVS-88US) by hooking it up as a secondary drive on my linux system (Ubuntu 10.10). I used the following command: sudo dd if=/dev/sdc of=/home/backup.img bs=2M This appears to have completed with no errors. I noticed that the file is only 68 GB in size even though the drive is 250 GB in capacity. I restored the image to a spare drive (WD2500BEVS) with the following command: sudo dd if=/home/backup.img of=/dev/sdb bs=2M When I boot the spare drive in the Mac, it appears to start up for a few seconds and then shuts down. (It does not appear to load into the OS at all).   • RAID 5 - DELL 2850 and others

    I have installed Ubuntu on a DELL 2850 and I have configured an array of 5 disks (SCSI 73GB 10K) in RAID5. I wanted to simulate a drive error so in the middle of something I just took one of the drives out and put it back again after a bit. Then the drive shows an orange light and seems to be rebuilding but actually is taking hours and hours with no results. So I went to the PERC utility (Ctrl+M) and the disk shows "REBLD". But it never gets to an online state. So I went to Objects - Physical drives - Rebuilding - View rebuild process. And in here I can see a bar moving from 0%... but if I reboot before finishing and get into the PERC Utility again, it seems to start again rebuilding from 0% - so it is not rebuilding automatically. My concern is: what would happen in a real situation? Do I have to just switch the server off and go to the Perc utility to start the rebuilding manually? I thought the whole point was to have this done automatically and without the need of stopping the server. Or does it perhaps rebuild automatically indeed but needs to have enough time without rebooting because otherwise the rebuilding process will start from scratch? It seems to take more than 3h for a 73gb disk! My second question is: can I mix then hard drives? So if I have a RAID of 5x73GB 10K can I use different size (146GB) or speeds (15K)? Apparently someone said it is OK in here Poweredge 2850: replace disk with larger in RAID?

  • Tomcat 6 Windows Server 64 Redirect Connector Fails

    So is there some problem with running the Tomcat connectors under a 64 bit windows OS? Here's my configuration: Windows Server 2003 64 bit Intel Xeon Tomcat 6.0.26 JVM 1.6.0 (64bit) ISAPI Redirect Connector 1.2.30.0 (64 bit) Calling the IP address of the site with :8080 brings up the tomcat page so I know that's running and the examples all work so its obviously not having a problem with the JVM. Calling the site ip on port 80 however gives me error 324 - looking at the application log on windows shows "Could not load all ISAPI filters for site/service. Therefore startup aborted". The ISAPI filter page under the web site properties shows the status of this filter to be down with a red arrow. The ISAPI filter name is jakarta and there is a corresponding virtual directory set up in the root of the site pointing to the same directory as the filter. The jakarta web service extension is also pointing to the required dll (c:\program files\apache software foundation\jakarta isapi redirector\bin\isapi_redirect.dll). Incidentally, this same problem occurs when trying to use Tomcat 5.5. I've also tried swapping out various redirect versions. It's really odd because I got it to work once with a version of the redirector that came with Plesk but I've since uninstalled everything to do with plesk and even trying to use the plesk-compiled dll doesn't work now. I am pulling my hair out on this, any ideas?

  • Internal disk not correctly recognised by Windows 7

    i'm having problems configuring a disk in a brand new, clean windows-7 install. here are some system specifics- . disk- western digital velociraptor wd6000hlhx . mobo- gigabyte z77x-ud3h . bios sata-mode set to ahci [not raid], w/disk connected to sata0 [6gb/s hi-speed sata]. . windows 7 enterprise sp1 x64 the disk is recognized by bios and correctly identified [name & size ok]. the disk is also recognized by windows on a h/w level, but it won't show up in the explorer. windows reports the device is working correctly. windows disk manager shows the drive, but says it's uninitialized and has no partitions [which is incorrect]. if i try to initialize the drive, windows throws an error saying that it "cannot find the file specified". [which file???] before connecting the drive to the new machine, i partitioned and formatted the disk under windows xp sp2, giving it 2 partitions [mbr, not gpt] and copying over a boatload of data. obviously none of this appears under windows 7. removing the disk from the new machine and replacing it back in the windows xp machine shows the disk and all data are intact and functional. i'd like to have windows 7 recognize the disk w/o having to lose the data and start over. is this possible? if so, how would i do that? I checked this post, but even though the problem seems identical, the information didn't help. any help appreciated. thanks!

  • iPod touch has extremely slow wifi, drops packets - only on my router

    I just purchased an iPod Touch. I am having a lot of trouble with its speeds on my Tenda W311R, but it has no speed problems on my neighbor's Netgear router. It will connect and authenticate to my network, but the Speed Test app from speedtest.net shows rates near 20-50 kbps. If I run the speed test immediately after powering the iPod on, it will get speeds of 10-20 Mbps, like it should - but the speeds slow down to the kbps range abut 10-15 seconds afterward. I get the same behavior with encryption and without encryption, and regardless of N, G, or B compatibility settings in the router. I've tried rebooting the iPod and resetting the network settings, but it's still slow. I have also been searching Google for the past three days, all to no avail. Any suggestions?

  • How do I make a Data Validation drop-down exclude blanks?

    Related: How can I use non-adjacent cells on another sheet for a Data Validation drop-down, and only show non-blank values? For now, I've worked around the above problem by re-arranging my sheet so all the Data Validation Source cells are in one range. I'm leaving the above question open though, because I think it still poses an interesting problem. However, the issue now is that the Data Validation drop-down isn't working in the way I expected it to (and how I believe others are telling me it should). Even though I've got everything into one named range, Excel still shows blanks in a drop-down that references that range. Setup: Sheet 1 A1= (blank) B1= Header A2= 1 B2= Value1 A3= 2 B3= Value2 A4= 3 B4= Value3 A5= 4 B5= (empty) A6= 5 B6= (empty) A7= 6 B7= (empty) Sheet1!B2:B7 is named Validation Sheet2!A1 is set to use Data Validation with a Source =Validation, and in-cell drop-down. The drop-down in Sheet2!A1 shows: Value1 Value2 Value3 . . . (Dots represent blank lines) How can I get rid of these blank lines in the in-cell drop-down, while still including Sheet1!B5:B7 in the Data Validation Source? Note: I nuked the sheet, and tried it again without column A from Sheet1 (putting values from column B in the above example into column A), and it worked fine. Adding Column A back though, brought the blanks back into the Data Validation drop-down. What do I need to do to keep column A as I want it and keep the in-cell drop-down clean?

  • VMWare Fusion: "No Permission to access this virtual machine"

    I had a VMWare Fusion VM backed up on my home network file server (Ubuntu). I wanted to run it again, so I copied it back to my Macbook. When I tried to launch it in VMWare, I got an error message: No permission to access this virtual machine. Configuration file: /Users/craig/WinXP Clean + Scanner.vmwarevm/WinXP Pro Test.vmx The permissions look fine to me: The bundle directory is 777 The bundle files (including the listed .vmx) are all 666 User is craig (my current user); group is staff. I changed the group to wheel at the suggestion of this page, but that didn't help. Finder shows read & write for craig, staff, and everyone on the bundle directory The bundle dir is also not locked Finder also shows rw and unlocked for the .vmx file The parent directory is also rw & unlocked Disk Utility permissions check doesn't show any problems with any of the associated files It sure looks like I should have wide open access to run this VM; why is Fusion complaining?

  • Outlook 2007 OST File Indexing and OneNote 2007 Indexing are Broken

    I'm running Outlook 2007 under Windows 7 Home Premium RTM. My OST file was previously being properly indexed but eventually searches significantly slowed down so I suspected a problem. Searching and indexing appears broken in OneNote 2007 as well as search time is now significantly longer. I brought up the Outlook 2007 Search Options dialog and noticed that my mailbox (running from an Exchange 2007 server) wasn't listed in the "Index messages in these data files:" list box. Next I ran the Windows "Find and fix problem with windows search" wizard which reported no errors. Then I brought up the Windows Indexing Options dialog which shows Outlook listed (as shown here): then clicked Advanced and Rebuilt the index. No dice - the listbox in the Outlook 2007 dialog still didn't show my mailbox. When I clicked the Modify button in the Indexing Options dialog I see the following: When I hover over the "oneindex://..." entry, the alt text indicates "This location is currently unavailable". When I delete it and rebuild the index, this entry returns. UPDATE: Comparison of the last screenshot above with a working PC shows that on the broken PC, the lower half of the dialog lists Outlook but neither Outlook or OneNote are showing in the upper half. The working PC has Outlook and OneNote in both parts of the dialog.

  • How do I find out the Mac Address Firefox submits for Geolocation?

    I moved, but have the same router and cable box. Now when I visit Google Maps it still shows my old location. I went to the SkyhookWireless update page to update my Mac Address with my new location. The process is you put in your Mac address and it shows you the current location, and then you adjust that location and submit it. When I got the Mac Address from the status page on my router Skyhook reported that location as in Pakistan, which isn't even the correct continent (as my old or new address). I tried every other Mac address I could come up with: The cable router, the Wireless router's other Mac address, my PC's Mac address, etc. and none of them reported any location on the Skyhook page. So I am guessing that there is another Mac address, or some other bit of information that is used by Firefox when it reports to Google Maps my current location. Now that you have the back story, how do I find the Mac address or whatever information it is that Firefox (or other browsers) use to determine my Geolocation? Everything I have read online is rather vague. The next option I am considering is hooking a logging proxy onto Firefox and seeing what data it sends, but I'd rather find an easier method.   • some PDF's to iPhones via ActiveSync are corrupt

    we have two server applications (one .NET/ASP web app, the other a native Windows app) that generate PDF's that are then emailed to our users on Exchange 2010. the apps deliver the emails to the Exchange server via SMTP, and our iPhone/iPad users receive their email via activesync. pretty much all of the PDF's generated by the web app and many of the PDF's generated by the Windows app fail to open on an iPhone or iPad. tapping the attachment shows the screen that would display the PDF with the name of the file at the top but the bottom of the screen is completely grey. one thing i have figured out is that the attachment on the iPad is uuencoded. forwarding the attachment to another email address shows the uuencoded format. here's a sample: begin 600 unknown M)5!$1BTQ+C0-)>+CS],-"C8@,"!O8FH\/"](6S8U-B`Q-#A=+TQI;F5A<FEZ M960@,2]%(#DQ-#8O3"`Q,S`Q.2].(#$O3R`Y+U0@,3(X-3,^/@UE;F1O8FH- ---snip--- M,C8T,"`P,#`P,"!N#0IT<F%I;&5R#0H\/"]3:7IE(#8^/@T*<W1A<G1X<F5F .#0HQ,38-"B4E14]&#0H` ` end whereas the normal version of the file looks like a normal PDF: %PDF-1.4 %âãÏÓ 6 0 obj<</H[656 147]/Linearized 1/E 9698/L 13571/N 1/O 9/T 13405>> ---snip--- trailer <</Size 6>> startxref 116 %%EOF so i think the problem is that the attachment is being double uuencoded somewhere, or the iPhone is failing to recognize that the attachment is uuencoded and not decoding it. any suggestions on where to begin troubleshooting this problem?
