This is a bundled patch release for Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center.  Here are the key features of the Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c update 1 : Oracle VM SPARC Server Pool HA Policy  Automatically Upgrade from Ops Center 11g update 3 and Ops Center 12c  Oracle Linux 5.8 and 6.x Support  Oracle VM SPARC IaaS (Virtual Datacenters) WANBoot Improvements with OBP Handling Enhancements SPARC SuperCluster Support Stability fixes This new release contains significant enhancements in the update provisioning, bare metal OS provisioning, shared storage management, cloud/virtual datacenter, and networking management sections of the product.  With this update, customers can achieve better handling of ASR faults, add networks and storage to virtual guests more easily, understand IPMP and VLAN configurations better, get a more robust LDAP integration, get  virtualization aware firmware patching, and observe improved product performance across the board.  Customers can now accelerate Oracle VM SPARC and T4 deployments into production . Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 11g and Ops Center 12c customers will now notice the availability of new product update under the Administration tab within the  Browser User Interface (BUI) .  Upgrade process is explained in detail within the Ops Center Administration Guide under “Chapter 10: Upgrading”.  Please be sure to read over that chapter and the Release Notes before upgrading.  During the week of July 9th,  the full download of the product will be available from the Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center download website.  Based on the customer feedback, we have changed the updates to include the entire product. • Django - no module named app

  Hi, I have been trying to get an application written in django working - but it is not working at all. I have been working on for some time too - and it is working on dev-server perfectly. But I am unable to put in the production env (apahce). My project name is apstat and the app name is basic.   I'm using read/write locks on Linux and I've found that trying to upgrade a read locked object to a write lock deadlocks. i.e. // acquire the read lock in thread 1. pthread_rwlock_rdlock( &lock ); // make a decision to upgrade the lock in threads 1. pthread_rwlock_wrlock( &lock ); // this deadlocks as already hold read lock. I've read the man page and it's quite specific. The calling thread may deadlock if at the time the call is made it holds the read-write lock (whether a read or write lock). What is the best way to upgrade a read lock to a write lock in these circumstances.. I don't want to introduce a race on the variable I'm protecting. Presumably I can create another mutex to encompass the releasing of the read lock and the acquiring of the write lock but then I don't really see the use of read/write locks. I might as well simply use a normal mutex. Thx

  What are some tools (commercial or OSS) that provide a GUI-based mechanism for creating schema upgrade scripts? To be clear, here are the tool responsibilities: Obtain connection to recent schema version (called "source"). Obtain connection to previous schema version (called "target"). Compare all schema objects between source and target. Create a script to make the target schema equivalent to the source schema ("upgrade script"). Create a rollback script to revert the source schema, used if the upgrade script fails (at any point). Create individual files for schema objects. The software must: Use ALTER TABLE instead of DROP and CREATE for renamed columns. Work with Oracle 10g or greater. Create scripts that can be batch executed (via command-line). Trivial installation process. (Bonus) Create scripts that can be executed with SQL*Plus. Here are some examples (from StackOverflow, ServerFault, and Google searches): Change Manager Oracle SQL Developer Software that does not meet the criteria, or cannot be evaluated, includes: TOAD PL/SQL Developer - Invalid SQL*Plus statements. Does not produce ALTER statements. SQL Fairy - No installer. Complex installation process. Poorly documented. DBDiff - Crippled data set evaluation, poor customer support. • Building Paypal based membership website - total noob - would appreciate help

  this is a follow up on my question on paypal integration. I'm working ona membership site for racing fans. My membership site has 3 membership levels - free, gold and premium. When a user signs up he/she can gets a free membership on the spot but has the option to upgrade to a gold membership for 4 Dollars a month or a premium membership for 10 Dollars a month. I've gone through the paypal integration guide a few times though and have a vague understanding of how to get this to work. I think the recurring payments option would be fine enough - however I don't know how do I implement this in my system. Like when a user decides to go for a paid account i.e. Gold or premium from basic - what should I do on both my code side and on the paypal account side - I'd really appreciate if anyone would outline what I'd have to do here. Plus when a user decides to upgrade from lets say a Gold to a premium account - there is the issue of computing how much should be charged to upgrade his/her account eg: a user has been billed for 4 dollars and the next day opts to go for a premium account so assuming that the surplus for the rest of the month is 5 dollars and further from that all payments would be recurring 10 dollars monthly - how do I implement this? And in case a user decides to downgrade from a premium account of 10 dollars a month to a gold account of 4 dollars a month - how do I handle the surplus which would have to be refunded for that month alone and changing the membership? And like wise if someone wishes to cancel membership and go to having a free account - how do I refund whatever is owed and cancel the subscription. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm asking to be spoon fed :( I'm quite new to this and this is for a client and I would really appreciate all the help here and really have to get this working right. • Stopping process in /etc/inittab kills spawned process. Doesn't happen in rc.local.

  Hi, I'm trying to execute a firmware upgrade while my programming is running in inittab. My program will run 2 commands. One to extract the installer script from the tarball and the other to execute the installer script. In my code I'm using the system() function call. These are the 2 command strings below, system ( "tar zvxf tarball.tar.gz -C / installer.sh 2>&1" ); system( "nohup installer.sh tarball >/dev/null 2>&1 &" ); The installer script requires the tarball to be an argument. I've tried using sudo but i still have the same problem. I've tried nohup with no success. The installer script has to kill my program when doing the firmware upgrade but the installer script will stay alive. If my program is run from the command line or rc.local, on my target device, my upgrade works fine, i.e. when my program is killed my installer script continues. But I need to run my program from /etc/inittab so it can respawn if it dies. To stop my program in inittab the installer script will hash it out and execute "telinit q". This is where my program dies (but thats what I want it to do), but it also kills my installer script. Does anyone know why this is happening and what can I do to solve it? Thanks in advance.

• Migrate SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007 to new hardware

  Hello, We have run out of hard disk space on our existing Small Business Server 2008 and simply wish to upgrade both of the hard drives (currently raid 1) - without too much hassle. My main concern is how to copy across the embedded version of Microsoft Exchange 2007. Is there a simple way to copy all the data across and upgrade? Or is it best to backup and do a clean install? - The difficulty is that it's the same server, so we can't replicate mailboxes for exchange. Any hints or tips welcomed!?

• Excel crashes when opening Excel files from Internet Explorer

  I have been running into some issues when opening Excel files from Internet Explorer, generally the first document or two will open fine but after that trying to open a file will cause Excel and Internet Explorer to crash to the desktop without any notifications being given. This doesn't happen for users who are running Excel 2007, but for users with Excel 2003 it may or may not happen to them. The files in question are Excel XML files and Internet Explorer 6 and Excel 2003 are being use. At this time it would not be possible to upgrade Internet Explorer, but it would be able to upgrade to Excel to version 2007 if that would resolve the issue. Overdue Update: We recently upgraded to Firefox at the office which has rendered this error a non-issue; however, it is still unresolved from the standpoint that we haven't been able to come up with an explanation to the issue. Since IE6 is still installed on the systems, a fix to the problem (or explanation of why it's happening) would be appreciated.

It is a C++ application talking to a remote postgresql database, defined through ODBC: ODBC error state S1092, native error 0. [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Invalid attribute/option identifier Both the client and the server are Centos 5.4 Xen guests with the following RPMs installed: postgresql-libs-8.1.18-2.el5_4.1 postgresql-odbc-08.01.0200-3.1 postgresql-8.1.18-2.el5_4.1 postgresql-server-8.1.18-2.el5_4.1 Its possible the schema changed as part of the upgrade, could this explain the error message? What does this error message actually indicate, and do you know any likely causes of it?

• MacBookPro RAM: CL7 or CL9

  Hi, I want to increase the RAM in my MacBookPro 15", 2.53 GHz, Mid-2009. I currently have 4GB, and I want 6GB (and upgrade to 8GB later - I think this should work with my model: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=573906) Now I see two offers: 1x4GB DDR3 1333 CL9 9-9 (149 EUR) 1x4GB DDR3 1066 CL7 7-7 (192 EUR). Both are from the same brand (Transcend), both are labeled "For MacBook/MacBookPro". Now I have no idea, which of these would work better with the 2GB RAM module from my currently installed memory (Running at 1067 MHz, according to System Profiler - but with what CL setting?) Would the 1333 CL9 RAM be set to CL7 when running at 1066 MHz? Thanks, Chris PS Should I expect problems when I later upgrade to 8GB with a different module (in case the same module won't be produced anymore)?

• ESXi 5 network performance is slow

  We just did a fresh install of ESXi 5 on a host that was running ESX 4 before. Nothing has changed hardware wise. After the upgrade network performance is much slower. Even copying a big file from one VM to another VM within same virtual switch is slower compared to other hosts that are running ESX 4. Network cards are auto-negotiating at 1Gbps as were on ESX 4 prior to upgrade. All settings are default and I haven't played with Advanced Settings at all. Before opening a case with vmware, wanted to know if I am missing something or if others have experienced similar issues and found a fix?

• Copy Windows 7 environment running on external drive to a new HDD partition on a Mac?

  My PC has just given up on me. It's getting a bit old so I took the HDD out and bought a Mac. I've put the PC's HDD into an enclosure, plugged it into the Mac and dragged across most of my files. I've got a couple of programs that are PC-only that I have to run from time to time, so I'd like to make a partition on the Mac and have Windows 7 installed there. I know how to set up a clean version of Windows in Boot Camp. Is there an easy way to copy over the environment on the HDD to the Mac's partition? I don't really need all the stuff on the PC, just the operating system. Is there a better way to do this other than having to deactivate Windows, then reactivate it on the Mac? I have a free upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista, thus I have an upgrade disc, not the full disc.

• Java Problem when i upgraded from IE 7 to IE 8

  I face problem with upgrading IE8 related to JAVA. The problem only with IE8, IE7 is OK and I have the latest Java version. After I upgrade the IE8, the graphics which has dynamics reading from the server is not updating and it shows NaN. I tried the following : - upgrade the server win2003 with latest Java version(JRE and JDT) , but the problem still exist in cliend PC(XP). -I upgraded the server IE8, then all user lost the connection even from inside the server. then I recall the prev version IE7.

• Running hardware with only 32bit drivers in 64bit windows

  Recently we had to upgrade a system to handle added HD IP cameras. This upgrade involved an entirely new computer build with the exception of a rather pricey Geovision DVR (PCI/GV1480 series). Apparently while these cards do support Windows 7, they do not support Windows 7 x64. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here trying to figure out how we can remedy this, is there a virtualization solution that will allow devices with driver issues to passthru to the Guest OS? I was thinking XPMode may work for this solution however I am unsure if it runs 32bit or 64bit and if it'll allow driver-issue devices to pass to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Best Regards, Howard

• Boto - How to delete a record set from route53 -Tried to delete resource record set but it was not found

  I am using the following to delete route53 records. I get no error messages. conn = Route53Connection(aws_access_key_id, aws_secret_access_key) changes = ResourceRecordSets(conn, zone_id) change = changes.add_change("DELETE",sub_domain, "A", 60,weight=weight,identifier=identifier) change.add_value(ip_old) changes.commit() all required fields are present and they match..weight, identifier, ttl=60 etc.\ e.g. test.com. A 111.111.111.111 60 1 id1 test.com. A 111.111.111.222 60 1 id2 I want to delete 111.111.111.222 and the record set. So, what is the proper way to delete a record set? For a record set, I will have multiple values that are distinguished by a unique identifier. When an ip address becomes in active I want to remove from route53. I am using a a poor mans load balancing. • OpenStreetMap Proximity search using mySQL

  Hi, I'm just playing around with a dataset of my region generated by JOSM. I moved it into a mySQL DB with the 0.6 API scheme using Osmosis and now I'm desperately trying the following: I want to get all streets of a city. AFAIK there is no tag/relation in the OSM data to determine this so I tried it using a proximity search to get all nodes in a radius around a node representing the city center. Most of the time I looked at the approaches here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/574691/mysql-great-circle-distance-haversine-formula What I got is the following SQL code that should get me the closest 100 nodes around the node with id 36187002 and within a radius of 10km. set @nodeid = 36187002; set @dist = 10; select longitude, latitude into @mylon, @mylat from nodes where id=@nodeid limit 1; SELECT id, ( 6371 * acos( cos( radians(@mylon) ) * cos( radians( latitude ) ) * cos( radians( longitude ) - radians(@mylat) ) + sin( radians(@mylon) ) * sin( radians( latitude ) ) ) ) AS distance FROM nodes HAVING distance < @dist ORDER BY distance LIMIT 0 , 100; Well.. it doesn't work. :( I guess the main problem is that OSM lats/lons are multiplied by 10.000.000 and I don't know how I can correct this function to make it work. • Installing mysql-devel to match MySQL version

  I'm running MySQL 5.1.52 on CentOS 4.6 and I'm trying to install mysql-devel to match my MySQL version. If I do yum install mysql-devel it wants to upgrade MySQL to 5.1.58, yet if I do yum search mysql-devel, in addition to finding 5.1.58, I get a match for: 5.1.52-jason.1 .. utterramblings .. Matched from: mysql-devel Why is yum trying to install an updated version and is there any way to get it to install the correct version without the need to upgrade MySQL? I'd appreciate any help.

  When I attempt to use Add Features to install the Windows 8 Media Center pack I get the "Something Went Wrong" Message Checking %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Anytime Upgrade\Upgrade.log I can see the following error block 2012-10-27 18:43:13, Error WAU DoTransmogrify failed due to error 0x80070011. 2012-10-27 18:43:13, Error WAU UpgradeSKU failed. Exiting. 2012-10-27 18:43:13, Error WAU The worker process exited unexpectedly 2012-10-27 18:43:13, Error WAU Something went wrong 2012-10-27 18:43:13, Error WAU Close this wizard and try again. My understanding is that 0x80070011 means Error_Not_Same_Device. I think this may be related to the fact that C:\Users is a junction point to D:\Users Do I have to move my users directory back? Is there a workaround?

• Which is faster? 4x10k SAS Drives in RAID 10 or 3x15k SAS Drives in RAID 5?

  I am reviewing quote for a server upgrade. (RHEL). The server will have both Apache and MySQL on it, but the reason for upgrade is to increase DB performance. CPU has been upgraded massively, but I know that disk speed is also a factor. So RAID 10 is faster performance than RAID 5, but how much difference does the drive speed make? (The 15k discs in the RAID 5 config is at the top of my budget btw, hence not considdering 4x15k discs in RAID 10, which I assume would be the optimum.)

• Server vendor that allows 3rd party disks

  As noted here, Dell is no longer allowing 3rd party disks to be used with their latest servers. As in, they don't work period. Which means that if you buy one of these boxes and want to upgrade the storage later, you have buy disks from Dell at significant premiums. Dell has just given me a very strong reason to take my server business elsewhere. My company buys (instead of leasing) our servers, and typically uses them for 5 years. I need to be able to upgrade/repurpose storage periodically, and do not want to be locked in to whatever Dell might have in stock, at inflated prices to boot. As you will see in the comments of the above link, it seems HP is doing the same thing. I am looking for a server vendor that offers 3-5 year warranty with same day/next day onsite service, and allows me to use 3rd party disks. Suggestions?
