    - by Pierre
    I'm new to SGE an I'm trying to run qmake with the simple following Makefile with our very new cluster: merge.txt: job1.txt job2.txt job3.txt ... cat $^ > $@ job1.txt: sleep 1 echo "Hello From " $@ > $@ sleep 1 job2.txt: sleep 2 echo "Hello From " $@ > $@ sleep 2 job3.txt: (...) the following command raises an error: qmake -l arch=lx24-amd64 -cwd -v PATH -- -j 4 sleep 1 dynamic mode sleep 2 dynamic mode sleep 3 dynamic mode sleep 4 dynamic mode critical error: can't resolve group qmake: *** [job3.txt] Error 1 critical error: can't resolve group qmake: *** [job2.txt] Error 1 critical error: can't resolve group qmake: *** [job1.txt] Error 1 critical error: can't resolve group what's wrong ?

  • Hyper-V Deployment Options Best Practices

    - by Erv Walter
In what circumstances would you choose each of the following deployment options: Hyper-V installed as the bare bones Windows Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V role installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core installation Hyper-V role installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Full Installation For example, I know there are licensing considerations for each option: With Hyper-V on top of a full installation of Enterprise or Data Center edition, you can use Windows Server as a guest OS without needing additional licenses (4 for Enterprise, unlimited for Data Center) With "Windows Hyper-V Server" you have to obtain licenses for each guest OS. But my real question is, are there technical considerations as well? I understand that the Full Installation doesn't perform as well as the other two options, but is there a significant difference between Server Core and "Windows Hyper-V Server"? What are the pros and cons of Hyper-V on Server Core vs "Windows Hyper-V Server" and when would you choose each?

  • ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified

    - by Mohit Nanda
    I am getting this error while trying to create a connection pool, on my Oracle database, Oracle 10gR2. java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified I am able to connect to the database over sqlplus & iSQLPlus client, but when I try to connect using this Java program, I get this error just when the connection pool is to be initialised and it does not initialise the connection pool. Can someone please help me resolving it? DB Version: Oracle version 10.2.0.1 OS: RHEL 4.0 Here is a barebone, java code which is throwing this error, while connecting to my database. import java.sql.*; public class connect{ public static void main(String[] args) { Connection con = null; CallableStatement cstmt = null; String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:1521:oracle"; String userName = "username"; String password = "password"; try { System.out.println("Registering Driver ..."); DriverManager.registerDriver (new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver()); System.out.println("Creating Connection ..."); con = DriverManager.getConnection(url, userName, password); System.out.println("Success!"); } catch(Exception ex) { ex.printStackTrace(System.err); } finally { if(cstmt != null) try{cstmt.close();}catch(Exception _ex){} if(con != null) try{con.close();}catch(Exception _ex){} } } }

  • Pass --nogpgcheck to yum via puppet

    - by quickshiftin
How would one get a --nogpgcheck option to yum via puppet? I've tried package { 'unsigned-package': ensure => latest, install_options => ['--nogpgcheck'], } and package { 'unsigned-package': ensure => latest, install_options => ['nogpgcheck'], } but looking at the output from an agent run, yum isn't getting that option. As an aside (and maybe the reason it's not working for me), how do I verify my puppet has the install_options feature? I'm running puppet 3.3.0-rc2.

  • TCP RST right after FIN/ACK

    - by Nitzan Shaked
I am having the weirdest issue: I have a web server which sometimes, only on very specific requests, will send a RST to the client after having sent the FIN datagram. First, a description of the setup: The server runs on an Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS, which itself is a VM guest inside a Win7 x64 host, in bridged mode. ufw is disabled on the host The client runs on a iOS simulator, which runs on OS X Mountain Lion, which is a VM guest (hackintosh) inside a Win7 x64 host, in bridged mode. Both client and server are on the same LAN, one is connected to the home router via an Ethernet cable, and then other thru WiFi. I happened to glimpse over the server's http logs and found that the client sometimes issuing multiple subsequent identical requests. Further investigation led me to discover that this happens when the server sends a RST, and that the client is simply re-trying. I am attaching several tcpdump's: Good1 is the server-side tcpdump of a good session ("good" meaning no RST was generated). Good3 is another sever-side tcpdump of a good session. (The difference between Good1 and Good3 is the order in which ACK's were sent from the server to the client, ACK'ing the client's request. The client's request arives in 2 segements (specifically: one for the http headers, and another for a body containing an empty json object, "{}"). In Good1, the server ACK's both request segments, using 2 ACK segments, after the second request has arrived. In Good3, the server ACK's each request segment with an ACK segment as soon as the request segment arrives. Not that it should make a difference.) Bad1 is a dump, both client- and server-side, of a bad session. Bad2 is another bad session, this time server-side only. Note that in all "bad" sessions, the server ACK's each request segments immediately after having received it. I've looked at a few other bad sessions, and the situation is the same in all of them. But this is also the behavior in "Good3", so I don't see how that observation helps me, of for that matter why it should matter. I can't find any difference between good and bad sessions, or at least one that I think should matter. My question is: why are those RST's being generated? Or at least: how do I go about debugging this, or providing more info here that'll help? Edit 2 new facts that I have learned: Section 4.2.2.13 of the RFC (1122) (and Wikipedia, in the article "TCP", under "Connection Termination") says that a TCP application on one host may close the connection before it has read all of the data in its socket buffer, and in such a case the TCP on the host will sent a RST to the other side, to let it know that not all the data it has sent has been read. I'm not sure I completely understand this, since closing my side of the connection still allows me to read, no? It also means that I can't write any more. I am not sure this is relevant, though, since I see a RST after FIN. There are multiple complaints of this happening with wsgiref (Python's dev-mode HTTP server), which is exactly what I'm using. I'll keep updating as I find out more. Thanks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good1 -- Server Side ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 13:28:02.308319 IP 192.168.1.51.51479 > 192.168.1.132.5000: Flags [S], seq 94268074, win 65535, options [mss 1460,nop,wscale • OpenLDAP and Samba, can't log onto Samba share from Windows

    - by Jakobud
The former jackass IT-guy that I'm taking over for had a Samba share setup on a Fedora server that uses our OpenLDAP server to authenticate users who want to log in from Windows. We recently added a new employee and I jumped through the LDAP hoops to add them to the system. However, I can't seem to use their login to access the Samba share. I'm looking through the LDAP settings and Groups and comparing the new user account to existing ones, and I can't figure out what settings in LDAP are required for this user to be able to access the Samba share. Of course the former idiotic IT-guy didn't document a single thing and has all sorts of weird setups on the network. So I'm at a bit of a loss on knowing what to look for here. Where should I start? On the server that is hosting the Samba share, he has samba running obviously but also has smbldap-tools loaded as well.

  • Cloudmin KVM DNS hostnames not working

    - by dannymcc
I have got a new server which has Cloudmin installed. It's working well and I can create and manage VM's as expected. The server came with a /29 subnet and I requested an additional /29 subnet to allow for more virtual machines. I didn't want to replace the existing /29 subnet with a /28 because that would have caused disruption with my existing VM's. To make life easier I decided to configure a domain name for the Cloudmin host server to allow for automatic hostname setup whenever I create a new virtual machine. I have a domain name (example.com) and I have created an NS record as follows: NS kvm.example.com 123.123.123.123 A kvm.example.com 123.123.123.123 In the above example the IP address is that of the host server, I also have two /29 subnets routed to the server. Now, I've added the two subnets to the Cloudmin administration panel as follows: I've tried to hide as little information as possible without giving all of the server details away! If I ping kvm.example.com I get a response from 123.123.123.123, if I ping the newly created virtual machine (example.kvm.example.com) it fails, and if I ping the IP address that's been assigned to the new virtual machine (from the second subnet) it fails. Am I missing anything vital? Does this look (from what little information I can show) like it's setup correctly? Any help/pointers would be appreciated. For reference the Cloudmin documentation I am using as a guide is http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/cloudmin/gettingstarted

  • Querying Active Directory in PowerShell from a Windows host that is not a member of the domain

    - by jshin47
How can I use PowerShell [adsisearcher] to query a domain that I am not a member of? Usually I will do something like this: $myAdsi = [adsisearcher]"" $myAdsi.SearchRoot = [adsi]"LDAP://dc=corp,dc=mycompany,dc=com" $myAdsi.Filter = "objectCategory=computer" $res = $myAdsi.FindAll() If I run this snippet on a host in my domain, I get the expected result. However, if I run this from a computer that has network access to the domain (through a L2L VPN) I get the error: Exception calling "FindAll" with "0" argument(s): "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. " At line:11 char:33 + $adComputers = $searcher.FindAll <<<< () + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [], MethodInvocationException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : DotNetMethodException This is somewhat expected as I have not provided any sort of credentials to [adsisearcher] that would tell it how to authenticate. My question is: how do I let [adsisearcher] know that I want to authenticate against a domain in which I am not a member?

  • psexec: "Access is Denied"?

    - by Electrons_Ahoy
Inspired by my previous question here, I've been experimenting with PSExec. The goal is to trip off some fairly simple scripts / programs on one WindowsXP machine from another, and as PowerShell 2 doesn't yet do remoting on XP, PSexec seems like it'll solve my problems nicely. However, I can't get anything but the "Access is Denied" error. Here's what I've tried so far: I've got a pair of WindowsXP MCE machines, networked together in a workgroup without a server or domain controller. I've turned off "simple file sharing" on both machines. Under the security policy, Network Access: Sharing and Security model for local accounts is set to Classic, not Guest for both machines. There is an Administrative user for each computer that I know the passwords to. :) With all that, a command like "> psexec \\otherComputer -u adminUser cmd" prompts for the password (like it should) and then exits with: Couldn't access otherComputer: Access is denied. So, at this point I turn to the community. What step am I missing here?

  • PHP-APC Installation

    - by Leo
Trying to get my head around the way to install APC cache on PHP 5.3.13. That's a VPS with apache, configured preferably through whm/cpanel (although not only). I read a bunch of articles where it was suggested to use FastCGI with APC, as suPHP doens't do well with opcode caching, and fcgid_module doesn't do it right for APC either. Noted that fcgid_module is a newer package than FastCGI and that's what whm/cpanel installs for you but ok, that can be solved I guess. Then I'm reading that php-fpm is a much better alternative to manage the php processes, especially for APC. Ok. Then I realised that php-fpm is included in php core since 5.3 and got confused. Does that mean I don't have to use FastCGI/fcgid_module (and what should I use instead of them - mod_php or cgi?)? Or does that mean that I still need to get the older FastCGI module, and configure it to use one process per user (or just one process?)? Or would fcgid_module work as well? And how bad would it be just to go with mod_php/APC to avoid troubles of installing php-fpm and FastCGI (whm/cpanel doesn't support neither) given than Varnish would serve most of the static content anyway - no php process need to be created for static content. Any examples of their FastCGI/fcgid_module/php-fpm/APC configurations would be greatly appreciated as well.

  • Luminis and Google Apps Single Sign On

    - by J.Zimmerman
We are a community college that is plodding forward with a Google Apps for Education implementation. There is support for Single Sign On and a fair amount of documentation for implementing it. We are looking to provide integration with our portal which is currently Luminis 3 (we are upgrading to Luminis 4 within a year). There is documentation available for Luminis specific integration, but apparently it is by request only. I have put the request in to SungardHE (where we license Luminis) and am waiting for a response. My questions are as follows... Is anyone here running Luminis? Have you tried to integrate it with a 3rd party email service like Google Apps for Education or Microsoft LiveEDU? If so, can you elaborate on implementation details above and beyond your Luminis installation and Google Apps setup? Looking for more of a general road map and differences between integration options with Luminis 3 and Luminis 4. Thanks!

  • Difficulty restoring a differential backup in SQL Server, 2 media families are expected or no files

    - by digiguru
I have sql backups copied from server A to server B on a nightly basis. We want to move the sql server from server A to server B without much downtime, but the files are very large. I assumed that performing a differential backup and restore would solve the problem with the databases. Copy full backup from server A to copy to server B (10+gb) Open SQL Server Managment Studio on server B Right mouse on databases Restore Database Type in the new DB-name Choose "From Device" and browse to the backup file Click Okay. This is now resorting the original "full" backup. Test new db with dev application - everything works :) On original database rightmouse on DB Tasks Backup... Backup Type = Differential, Backup to disk, add a new file, and remove the old one (it needs to be a small file to transfer for the smallest amount of outage) Copy the diff backup onto the new db Right mouse on DB Tasks Restore Database This is where I get stuck. If I add both the new differential file, and the original backup to the restore process I get an error The media loaded on "M:\path\to\backup\full.bak" is formatted to support 1 media families, but 2 media families are expected according to the backup device specification. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. But if I try to restore using just the differential file I get System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The log or differential backup cannot be restored because no files are ready to rollforward. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo) Any idea how to do it? Is there a better way of restoring backups with limited downtime?

  • Active Directory - Lightweight Directory Services and Domain Password Policy

    - by Craig Beuker
Greetings all, We have an active directory domain which enforces a strict password policy. Hooray! Now, for the project we are working on, we are going to be storing users of our website Microsoft's AD-LDS service as well as using that for authentication of our web users. By default, it is my understanding that AD-LDS inherits its password policy from the domain of the machine it's installed on. Is there any way to break that link such that we can define a lighter password policy (or none if we so choose) for users in AD-LDS without affecting our domain? Note: AD-LDS is going to be hosted on a machine which is part of the domain. Thanks in advance.

  • Lync CMS replication is failing for all Domain Computers

    - by Ravi Kanneganti
I have Lync Server 2010 and Active Directory installed on 2 different Windows Server 2008 R2 machines. I have added a Windows 7 PC to AD. And I have added this computer to Trusted Application Servers Pool and published the topology. I want to build an UCMA application to extend Lync Server functionality. I have installed UCMA 3.0 SDK in the same computer where Lync Server is residing. But, CMS Replication isn't happening and "Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus" always gives Uptodate as "False" for my Windows 7 PC. • Active FTP client blocked by Windows Firewall on Windows 7

    - by Eli
I have an application that runs as a service and contains an FTP client. It needs to connect to an FTP server that only supports Active FTP. When I attempt to get a list of files or download a file, Windows Firewall is dropping the incoming connection from the FTP server. (I don't believe we had this problem in Windows XP or Windows Vista.) Active FTP is the protocol that requires the the server to open a connection to the client on a port that the client specified. (http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html) I know I could open up a large port range in Windows Firewall and force my FTP client to only use those ports, but I would have guessed that Windows Firewall would support Active FTP natively. Is there some setting that needs to be made in order to have Windows Firewall automatically detect Active FTP and open up the necessary ports as needed? Can I change that setting programmatically? Thanks. PS- I asked this question on StackOverflow, but was told I should probably ask here as well.

  • how to extract all permissions that a domain user have on the network

    - by Alexandre Jobin
I would like to know all the permissions a windows domain user have in my network. Is there a way, with a script file or a tool, that can extract this kind of information by checking all the servers and computers in my network? I'm on a Microsoft network with Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows XP, Windows 7. The report should include these kind of informations: report all permissions that the domain user have (read, write, etc...) if the domain user is in a domain group, tell me the permissions that this group have in my network so the report could be something like this: Permissions for USER_A in the DOMAIN.COM the user is part of theses domain groups: GROUP_A GROUP_B SERVER_A W:\wwwRoot (R/W inherited from GROUP_A) W:\sharedFolder (R) SERVER_B c:\projects (R/W) c:\projects\project_a (R/W) c:\projects\project_b (R/W) c:\dumpfolder (R/W inherited from GROUP_B) COMPUTER_A LOCAL\Administrator c:\ (R/W)

I can understand the reasoning it's not allowed by default for newbies as the network location may later not exist but I am certain it always will.

    - by Richard Knop
I am trying to get logrotate running on a FreeBSD 8.1 virtual machine. I installed the logrotate with pkg_add, I have created the logrotate.config file and also run: mkdir /var/lib/ touch /var/lib/logrotate.status Now when I do: /usr/local/sbin/logrotate -d /usr/local/etc/logrotate.conf I get this error: ELF interpreter /libexec/ld-elf-so.1 not found Abort The file ld-elf-so.1 exists: locate ld-elf.so.1 /libexec/ld-elf.so.1 /usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1 /usr/share/man/man1/ld-elf.so.1.1.gz

  • How can I run supervisord without using root?

I seem to be having trouble figuring out why supervisord won't run as a non-root user. If I start it with the user set to jason (pid 1000), I get the following in the log file: 2010-05-24 08:53:32,143 CRIT Set uid to user 1000 2010-05-24 08:53:32,143 WARN Included extra file "/home/jason/src/tsched/celeryd.conf" during parsing 2010-05-24 08:53:32,189 INFO RPC interface 'supervisor' initialized 2010-05-24 08:53:32,189 WARN cElementTree not installed, using slower XML parser for XML-RPC 2010-05-24 08:53:32,189 CRIT Server 'unix_http_server' running without any HTTP authentication checking 2010-05-24 08:53:32,190 INFO daemonizing the supervisord process 2010-05-24 08:53:32,191 INFO supervisord started with pid 3444 ...then the process dies for some unknown reason.
