• C# 2008 Express v C# 2010 Express

  Can anybody post a link to a comparison chart, or even to a duplicated question here on SO, for these two products? Plenty of info on what is missing between Express and Pro for example, but I'm struggling to find much on Express v Express. Is the only real difference the ability to develop apps for .NET 4.0? I'm developing WinForms apps, targetting .NET 2.0 at the moment, so are there any benefits for me in changing to 2010 Express? Unfortunately, upgrading to VS Professional or such is not an option for me right now, so I'm stuck with the hamstrung versions. Thanks.

• How to add flags to RC.EXE through QMake .pro makefiles

  I've the following definition in my .pro file: RC_FILE = app.rc This RC file contains a global include at the top: #include "version_info.h" The version_info.h header is on a common header files directory. Since RC.EXE takes INCLUDE environment variable in consideration, according to MS documentation, my build process batch sets up that accordingly: SET INCLUDE=%PROJECTDIR%\version;%INCLUDE% ... QMAKE project.pro -spec win32-msvc2008 -r CONFIG += release This works perfect as RC seems to read that INCLUDE var so the "version_info.h" file is including on every RC file properly. The problem is when I generate a VS solution (or Import it through the VS Addin). The RC invocation does not contain any /I flag (as I expect) but does not read any INCLUDE variable, even when I've setup through system 'environment variables' dialog in XP. So I'm stuck with this problem, with two alternatives I could not get to work: Make VS RC.exe invocation honour the INCLUDE variable (didn't work either as user or system variable). Force QMAKE to pass /I flag to RC invocation, and get that /I flag imported into the project settings (Resource Compiler properties). Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I've been trying to load a simple .swf (home.swf) and have it play automatically on my existing fla project (as2). These are the steps I have taken.. 1) create MC, named "holder" 2) within first frame of MC, entered in.. loadMovie("home.swf","holder"); Nothing is showing, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. • C# - using decimal in switch impossible?

  Hi, I'm justing starting out learning C# and I've become stuck at something very basic. For my first "app" I thought I'd go for something simple, so I decided for a BMI calculator. The BMI is calculated into a decimal type which I'm now trying to use in a switch statement, but aparently decimal can't be used in a switch? • Delphi 10, .NET, how do I convert a hex UTF-8 string to its unicode character?

  Hi all, I am trying to make my web app compatible with international languages and I am stuck with trying to convert escaped characters in my Delphi .NET DLL. The front end code is passing the UTF-8 hex notation with an escape character e.g for ? I pass \uE3818A. In my DLL I capture this and constract the following string '$E3828A'. I need to convert this back to ? and send it to my database, I've been trying to use Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes and Encoding.UTF8.GetString but with no luck. Anyone could help me figure this out? • Rails 3, changing a specific value in a row

  Hey Guys, This question seems ridiculously easy, but I seem to be stuck. Lets say we have a table "Books" Each Book, has a name, description, and a status. Lets say I want to create link in the show view, that when clicked, solely changes the status (to "read") for example. So far, I've tried adding a block in the controller, that says: def read @book = Book.find(params[:id]) @book.status = "Read" @book.update_attributes(params[:book]) respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to :back} format.xml { render :xml => @book } end end Then I've added a link to the view that is like: <%= link_to "Read", read_book_path(@book), :method = :put % This isn't working at all. • Handle .NET exceptions within Classic ASP pages

  Hi All, I am making MSSQL stored procedure CLR calls from ASP pages. When an exception occurs, it is logged and then rethrown. In this scenario I need to be able to handle the exception (if possible) in the ASP page. Note that I cannot move away from classic ASP in this instance; I am stuck within a legacy system for this project. Please let me know if you know of a way to handle the exceptions in classic ASP. • Why does calling glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION) give me EXC_BAD_ACCESS in an iPhone app?

  I have an iphone app where I call these three functions in appDidFinishLaunching: glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); glOrthof(0, rect.size.width, 0, rect.size.height, -1, 1); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); When stepping through with the debugger I get EXC BAD ACCESS when I execute the first line. Any ideas why this is happening? Btw I have another application where I do the same thing and it works fine. So I've tried to duplicate everything in that app (#imports, adding OpenGLES framework, etc) but now I'm just stuck.

I think the problem lies with the initial LI controlling the ul underneath somehow. I need to keep the xhtml formatted exactly how it is right now and only change the CSS to fix this problem.   I've messed with Access a little bit in the past, had one class on OO theory, and one class on console c++ apps. Now, as a hobby project, I'm undertaking to write an actual app, which will be a database app using System.Data.SQLite and C#. I have the db's table structure planned. I have System.Data.SQLite installed and connected to VS Pro. I entered my tables and columns in VS, but that's where I'm stuck. I really don't know how to finish the db set up so I can start creating queries and testing the db structure. Can someone give me guidance to online resources that will help me learn how to get the db properly set up so I can proceed with testing it? I'm hoping for online resources specific to beginners using C# and System.Data.SQLite, but I'll use the closest I can get. Thanks.

  I have two hypothetical classes, Foo and Bar. Foo contains many Bars. Bar can only belong to one Foo. Ultimately the SQL query I'm trying to make happen looks like the following: SELECT * from bar INNER JOIN foo ON bar.foo_id = foo.id where bar.in_use = 0 and bar.customer_id = 1 and foo.category = 0 That query does what I need. Now I'm trying to break the problem down in Rails using chained named_scopes. First, the straight forward in_use and customer_id scopes I have set: named_scope :available, :conditions => { :in_use => 0 } named_scope :not_available, :conditions => { :in_use => 1 } named_scope :customer, lambda { |num| { :conditions => { :customer_id => num } } } Now the part I'm stuck at, is I'm trying to do something like this in my code: abar = Bar.available.customer(1).category(0) how and where do I put the category named_scope to make this work?

I am stuck on this and see no way of solving this error. • Can't get websrvmng to run in Plesk SSH terminal.

  I am following this MediaTemple KB article and stuck at the last step. When I try to run the websrvmng (using the ssh terminal in Plesk) using the code the KB references: /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -v -a I receive a 'File or Directory not found' error. I am a n00b when it comes to this stuff and would really appreciate any advice/suggestions for how to get websrvmng to run. I have searched through tons of articles on it but found nothing more illuminating than the above code. I am sure I'm overlooking something simple (login as root to run? something I need to replace in the code like usr?). It is a MediaTemple DV server running CentOS 5 and as I said using Plesk. I desperately need to get this to work and I am pulling my hair out, so as I said any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking about threads....(handler) ... 2) I was trying to draw poly lines ( I have encoded polylines, but have managed to decoded those) that move when I move the map..... 3) I was looking for some sort of a timer class that executes, say, every 1 minute or so.... 4) I was also looking for ways to clear the Google map from all the markers/lines etc.... • Parsing an RFC822-Datetime in .NETMF 4.0

  I have an application written in .NETMF that requires that I be able to parse an RFC822-Datetime. Normally, this would be easy, but NETMF does not have a DateTime.parse() method, nor does it have some sort of a pattern matching implementation, so I'm pretty much stuck. Any ideas? EDIT: "Intelligent" solutions are probably needed. Part of the reason this is difficult is that the datetime in question has a tendency to have extra spaces in it (but only sometimes). A simple substring solution might work one day, but fail the next when the datetime has an extra space somewhere between the parts. I do not have control over the datetime, it is from the NOAA.

  Hi, I've stuck myself in a c++ project under linux ,for which I get an undefined reference when I try to create an object of a class that I just wrote.I believe this is an linker error caused by the fact that somewhere , somehow I should tell the linker to take into account the new class. I looked at the project properties and at the run command it executes a script (cmake.sh) . Because the project wasn't created by me , and because I'm a novice in working under linux, I just don't know how to direct the linker to do what I expect him to do !

• I need git-svn to act as a Subversion v1.5+ client

  I'm running git 1.7 on Mac OSX, installed via Homebrew. I'm trying to use git svn to work with a Subversion server that requires Subversion 1.5 clients (a restriction enforced via a pre-commit hook.) Running git svn --version reveals that as far as git is concerned, git svn is equivalent to svn v1.4.4. I can't establish whether git svn is a total clone of subversion, and thus needs to be updated to meet subversion v1.5 functionality, or if git is compiled against or just points to some version of subversion under the hood. I've struggled finding anyone else trying to upgrade the version of git-svn, and I'm guessing this client version restriction is unusual, but I'm stuck with it (corporate environment.) Is it possible to have git operate as svn 1.5?

  After learning how to do MySQL Full-Text search, the recommended solution for multiple tables was OR MATCH and then do the other database call. You can see that in my query below. • UITableView resizing rows problem

  Hi All, Hope to get solution to this problem. I have been stuck on it since a long time now. I have a a tableView which has custom labels drawn upon the cell using CGRect. I receive the data from a web service in arrays. Initially i display a line of data on the cells. When the user selects a cell, I call reloadsRowAtIndexPath to increase the height of selected row. In the process, cellForRowAtIndexPath gets called again. I keep track of this by a flag, and when cellForRowAtIndexPath gets called again, I display the two more lines of data from arrays, on the cell. What i am getting is all overlapping data on one other. I tried to remove already placed labels in didSelectRowAtIndexPath, but to no avail. Please help me on this Thanks in advance.

• How to Track F5/Refresh in ASP.Net

  I am using VS 2005, C# 2, ASP.Net 2.0 I am unable to find out how to track that user pressed F5/Ctrl+F5/ Open a new Window(Ctrl + N) in ASP.Net. I know that there is a Page.IsPostBack property, which tells that a page is loaded in response to an action taken by user. I am just curious to know, that why isn't there a property as IsRefresh or Page.IsRefresh in ASP.Net, which will return true, whenever user takes any of the above actions. Is there a way to know this? Actually my problem is that i have a DLL using which all of my aspx pages are inherited, I have to insert some values in a table whenever the page is opened for the first time that's it, if user just opens the page or do not take any action, an entry should be inserted into the database, but as far as I have tried, I controlled it anyhow using the Page.IsPostBack property, but I got stuck in the refresh case, as it is inserting records unconditionally.
