• Running a Silverlight application in the Google App Engine platform

  This post shows you how to host a Silverlight application in the Google App Engine (GAE) platform. You deploy and host your Silverlight application on Google’s infrastructure by creating a configuration file and uploading it along with your application files. I tested this by uploading an old demo of mine - the four stroke engine silverlight demo. It is currently being served by the GAE over here: http://fourstrokeengine.appspot.com/ The steps to run your Silverlight application in GAE are as follows: Account Creation Create an account at http://appengine.google.com/. You are allocated a free quota at signup. Select “Create an Application”   Verify your account by SMS   Create your application by clicking on “Create an Application”   Pick an application identifier on the next screen. The identifier has to be unique. You will use this identifier when uploading your application. The application you create will by default be accessible at [applicationidentifier].appspot.com. You can also use custom domains if needed (refer to the docs).   Save your application. Download SDK  We will use the  Windows Launcher for Google App Engine tool to upload our apps (it is possible to do the same through command line). This is a GUI for creating, running and deploying applications. The launcher lets you test the app locally before deploying it to the GAE. This tool is available in the Google App Engine SDK. The GUI is written in Python and therefore needs an installation of Python to run. Download and install the Python Binaries from here: http://www.python.org/download/ Download and install the Google App Engine SDK from here: http://code.google.com/appengine/downloads.html Run the GAE Launcher. Select Create New Application.   On the next dialog, give your application a name (this must match the identifier we created earlier) For Parent Directory, point to the directory containing your Silverlight files. Save the file. Run the application locally by selecting “Browse” in the GUI. A web server listening on the port you specified is started (8080 in my case). The app is loaded in your default web browser pointing to http://localhost:8080/. Make sure the application works as expected. We are now ready to deploy. Click the “Deploy” icon. You will be prompted for your username and password. Hit OK. The files will get uploaded and you should get a dialog telling you to “close the window”. We are done uploading our Silverlight application. Go to http://appengine.google.com/ and launch the application by clicking on the link in the “Current Version” column.   You should be taken to a URL which points to your application running in Google’s infrastructure : http://fourstrokeengine.appspot.com/. We are done deploying our application!   This evening I was looking for a way to validate an Umbraco node that could be either text or a numeric value, in my case a salary that could be either an hourly amount, an annual figure or a comment. It uses reflection to match properties with the same name and compatible types. • ERRNO 5 Input/Output Error

  Going up for my first ubuntu installation and encountered a critical error. Mind that I am installing on my Macbook Pro, and have already removed all other partitions. (I'm installing with a CD) My Ubuntu version is: "ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386" So once the installation gets to something around "Finishing copying files", a great big "[ERRNO5] Input/Output Error" pops up on the screen. Obviously this halts and crashes the whole installation. Now, I've already run a disk check, memtest, and cpu load test, and all came up green. I have also redownloaded ubuntu twice, md5 match both times, and burnt four disks. None got past this error. If anyone could help me out, that would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

  First of all I am total amateur in game development and sorry for my poor English. I want to make android human vs human chess game. So I am wondering how to design it? scenario 1: User connect to server, find opponent and send moves to server using socket, so match is running on a server side. I think this is not good idea because move should be validated on client side - or do I have to validate moves on client side? I do not think this is good solution because game is seperated. scenario 2: Using hole punching technique so server is needed only for connection between players, so game is running on android devices. which approach do you suggest? Or is there any better solution? Which server is best to use?

  I installed selinux first, I set SELINUX=enforcing instead of its original value, SELINUX=permissive in /etc/selinux/config, then I reboot my computer. I waited for some time, but it stopped, I rebooted again and it can not go into the system anymore so I restored the setting. I tried to run seinfo command in a terminal, but it output some errors below: ERROR: policydb version 26 does not match my version range 15-24 ERROR: Unable to open policy /etc/selinux/ubuntu/policy/policy.26. ERROR: Input/output error It seems that there is a little difference on how to start up selinux between CentOS and Ubuntu, can you help me configure selinux in Ubuntu?

• Annoying mistake when create web template in SharePoint 2010

  I get the error    Error occurred in deployment step ‘Add Solution’: Exception from HRESULT: 0x8107026E when deploying my web template project. It turns out that your name for the Web template name has to match the name of you WebTemplate section in the element.xml file. Please see the screenshot below, the highlighted two needs to be the same. It took me so long to figure out and I will keep here in case everybody else struggle. • HTML Javascript Hidden Object or Photo Hunt Game

  Is anyone aware of any example photo hunt/hidden object games either in HTML and Javascript or flash if necessary? I am having trouble finding one, I may be using the wrong words to search. Photo hunt being like the wheres wally/waldo books where you look for wally in a complex image until you find him. So if it were played on screen you would press the location of wally and it would either be correct or wrong, possibly timed. I am hoping to find one where you can just load in your own photos and specify some co-ordinates that match where the hidden object is. A spot the difference example may be useful as a starting point but I haven't found an example of either that is web based yet.

• Integration with Multiple Versions of BizTalk HL7 Accelerator Schemas

  Microsoft BizTalk Accelerator for HL7 comes with multiple versions of the HL7 implementation. One of the typical integration tasks is to receive one format and transmit another. For example, system A works HL7 v2.4 messages, system B with v2.3, and system C with v2.2. The system A is exchanging messages with B and C. The logical solution is to create schemas in separate namespaces for each system and assign maps on send ports. Schematic diagram of the messaging solution is shown below:   Nothing is complex about that conceptually. On the implementation level things can get nasty though because of the elaborate nature of HL7 schemas and sheer amount of message types involved. If trying to implement maps directly in BizTalk Map Editor one would quickly get buried by thousands of links between subfields of HL7 segments. Since task is repetitive because HL7 segments are reused between message types it's natural to take advantage of such modular structure and reduce amount of work through reuse. Here's where it makes sense to switch from visual map editor to old plain XSLT. The implementation is done in three steps. First, create XSL templates to map from segments of one version to another. This can be done using BizTalk Map Editor subsequently copying and modifying generated XSL code to create one xsl:template per segment. Group all segments for format mapping in one XSL file (we call it SegmentTemplates.xsl). Templates can be created for only those segments that are used in message interchange. Once this is done the rest goes much easier. The next step is to create message type specific XSL that references (imports) segment templates XSL file. Inside this file simple call segment templates in appropriate places. And lastly, create BizTalk map (btm) that references message type specific XSL. It is essentially empty map with Custom XSL Path set to appropriate XSL: In the end, you will end up with one segment templates file that is referenced by many message type specific XSL files which in turn used by BizTalk maps. Once all segment maps are created they are widely reusable and all the rest work is very simple and clean.

• How can I reorient the axes of an object?

  I spent some time in Unity yesterday trying to fire a sphere from a horizontal cylinder (like a ball from a cannon). I was using Vector3.forward, but the sphere kept coming out the top of the cylinder rather than the front. Someone suggested using Vector3.up instead, and sure enough it worked! The cylinder is vertical by default. So, it appears that when I rotated the cylinder by 90 degrees to lay it flat, the local axes remained the same. The relative front of the cylinder remained at the same point, so when I fired the sphere it shot out the new "top", not what looked to me like the "front". If I had happened to be facing the other way, I would have had to fire at Vector3.down instead. How can I reorient/reset the axes of an object so that they match my expectations? (And if I can't, how can I tell by looking which way an object is oriented?)

The question I keep asking myself is: should I stick to one language for the project when I'm looking for a tool to do a particular task (e.g. NLTK, PDFMiner, CLD, CRFsuite, etc.)? Or is it OK to mix and match languages on the project? So I pick the best tool regardless of what language it's written in (e.g. OpenNLP, ParsCit, poppler, CFR++, etc.) and warp (wrap) my code around it? Note, I am not asking about should a developer stick to just one language for their career.

If version number not changed at the start of new phase, the developers may forget to change it and simply release the program. If version number changed before tagging release, then 2 the version numbers (tag and Makefile/AssemblyInfo.cs) do not match. git describe may give you v1.2.3.4-15-g1234567 if current revision is after v1.2.3.4, but you have already changed the files to have v1.2.3.5

• How does one use the built in IIS URL Rewrite SEO rule that adds trailing slash only to files that exist?

      QUICKLINK: Note 153788.1 ORA-600/ORA-7445 Lookup tool Note 1082674.1 : A Video To Demonstrate The Usage Of The ORA-600/ORA-7445 Lookup Tool [Video]   Have you observed an ORA-07445 error reported in your alert log? While the ORA-600 error is "captured" as a handled exception in the Oracle source code, the ORA-7445 is an unhandled exception error due to an OS exception which should result in the creation of a core file.  An ORA-7445 is a generic error, and can occur from anywhere in the Oracle code. The precise location of the error is identified by the core file and/or trace file it produces.  Looking for the best way to diagnose? Whenever an ORA-7445 error is raised a core file is generated.  There may be a trace file generated with the error as well.   Prior to 11g, the core files are located in the CORE_DUMP_DEST directory.   Starting with 11g, there is a new advanced fault diagnosability infrastructure to manage trace data.  Diagnostic files are written into a root directory for all diagnostic data called the ADR home.   Core files at 11g will go to the ADR HOME/cdump directory.   For more information on the Oracle 11g Diagnosability feature see Note 453125.1 11g Diagnosability Frequently Asked Questions Note 443529.1 11g Quick Steps to Package and Send Critical Error Diagnostic Information to Support[Video]   NOTE:  While the core file is captured in the Diagnosability infrastructure, the file may not be included with a diagnostic package.1.  Check the Alert LogThe alert log may indicate additional errors or other internal errors at the time of the problem.   In some cases, the ORA-7445 error will occur along with ORA-600, ORA-3113, ORA-4030 errors.  The ORA-7445 error can be side effects of the other problems and you should review the first error and associated core file or trace file and work down the list of errors.   Note 1020463.6 DIAGNOSING ORA-3113 ERRORS Note 1812.1 TECH:  Getting a Stack Trace from a CORE file Note 414966.1 RDA Documentation Index   If the ORA-7445 errors are not associated with other error conditions, ensure the trace data is not truncated. Currently, I have specified heights for header, main, footer, etc. I would like to make the site so the header stays on top, the columns adjust to match the height of the longest column, and the footer stays at the bottom. • When to detect collisions in game loop

  My game loop uses a fixed time step to do "physics" updates, say every 20 ms. In here I move objects. I draw frames as frequently as possible. I work out a value between 0 and 1 to represent the proportion of the physics tick that is complete and interpolate between the previous and current physics state before drawing. It results in a smoother game assuming the frame rate is higher than the physics update rate. I am currently doing the collision detection in the physics update routine. I was wondering should it instead take place in the interpolated draw routine where the positions match what the user sees? Collisions can result in explosions by the way.
