  • PHP Form POST to external URL with Redirect to another URL

    So, what I am trying to accomplish is have a self-posting PHP form, POST to an external page (using CURL) which in turn redirects to another page. Currently, what is happening is that once I click "Submit" on the form (in contact.php) it will POST to itself (as it is a self-posting form). The script then prepares the POST using CURL and performs the post. The external page does its processing and then, the external page is supposed to redirect back to another page, in a referring domain. However, what happens instead, is that it seems like the contact.php page loads the HTML from the page the external page redirected to, and then, the contact.php's HTML loads after that, ON THE SAME PAGE. The effect, is what looks like two separate pages rendered as one page. Naturally, I just want to perform the POST and have the browser render the page it is supposed to redirect to as specified by the external page.   • Facebook connect JavaScript with PHP

    I'm using the JavaScript method to sync/login (with the popup) with Facebook Connect on my site, it seems to work. However, after I get logged in, I want to continue in backend, with the PHP library. I see the cookies are set by the JavaScript lib, but I don't know how to use them with the PHP api. I used $fb = new Facebook($api_key, $secret); $uid = $fb->get_loggedin_user(); but not user data is getting passed. How can I get the user data in PHP after I logged in in frontend? As far as I'm concerned, I would have gone PHP all the way, but I didn't manage to make the auth work, meaning that in never redirected me back to my site :). Thanks!

    Hi guys, I just posted a similar question, but deleted it because I realized I was working with an old file...doh! I am just trying to get my XAMPP setup working for me. I have a live site that navigates to a login page at http://www.monkeycalendar.com/arvindkt/login.php That login page includes a root.php file that is found at http://www.monkeycalendar.com/arvindkt/root.php Live site works great. My localhost is set up so my sites are a folder in localhost: IE: http://www.example.com = localhost/example.com I'm having problems figuring out how to make my root folder point to the right directory.   • Setting a PHP $_SESSION['var'] using jQuery

    I need to set a PHP $_SESSION variable using the jQuery. IF the user clicks on an image I want to save a piece of information associated with that image as a session variable in php.   • Success verification of mail() function PHP

    Hi Is it possible to check if the php can get some kind of a ping/flag back from exchange mail server to say "yes, email has been sent off to the intended recipient"? According to the PHP manual, the return of mail() boolean could mean; "It is important to note that just because the mail was accepted for delivery, it does NOT mean the mail will actually reach the intended destination." Does this mean, PHP can return success but actually there could be a problem on the mail server that php wouldn't know about it? and in this case no email has been sent and the user is none the wiser?   • Apache/PHP: error_log per Virtual Host?

    On one Linux Server running Apache and PHP 5, we got multiple Virtual Hosts with separate logfiles and everything. The only thing we cannot seem to separate between virtual hosts is the php error_log. Overriding this setting in the <Location> of the httpd.conf does not seem to do anything. Did I overlook something? Is there a way to have separate php error_logs for each Virtual Host?

    Hello, I need to convert some code done by someone else, to work in my mvc model It is using some functions like EOD that I don't understand. Does that still work in a class? Primarely, my question focusus on the json output.     Background I have two services that need to communicate with each other over a message queue. One is a legacy service written in PHP and the other is in Java. Sooner than later, the PHP service will be rewritten in Java. The current way they communicate with each other is to write to a shared database, which the other service polls. This is what I'm trying to get away from and replace with a message queue. Problem The communication I'm working on right now is from the PHP service to the Java service. It needs to send a relatively complex object (strings and and integers and lists and maps of strings and integers).   • using jquery (json) to get ajax database entries in wordpress - PHP not working

    I'm writing a plugin for my wordpress site and am having trouble understanding the jquery ajax requests. In a nutshell, I am trying to get some user meta data loaded when the page loads. So in my javascript file I have a line: $.getJSON("http://mysite.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/myplugin/ajax/ajax.php?action=test", function(json) { // do stuff }); So the above DOES get called, but it's the PHP code I'm having trouble with. In the file ajax.php, I am making a database call, but NONE of the usual class information is available. I've tried including the admin ajax page, various other pages from my own plugin (which does work).... not sure what else to do! The database call method works OK in my plugin code.. but I guess that the ajax.php file is outside the WP framework so that's why it's not working... but I don't know how to get it IN the framework!? I just need to use the $wpdb->get_results($sql); command to get my SQL. The error returned from firebug is that I am making a call to an undefined function.   • Good alternative to Eregi() in PHP

    I often find myself doing quick checks like this: if (! eregi('.php',$fileName)) $filename.='.php'; But sadly eregi() is going to be deprecated in PHP 6, which means all of my code that uses it will be rendered useless :(. Is there another function that behaves exactly the same way as eregi()? I don't know anything about reg exps and don't want to learn, so preg_match() etc won't work for me.

I don't really get the difference. Are there any richer features with the PHP client?

  • highlight navigation PHP

    I've launched a website a while back and successfully used Javascript + CSS to highlight the current page on the navigation. However, it is not working in Safari and it does not validate well, when using Javascript, so I decided to have PHP assign the CSS id to the HTML elements. So far, it works fine, compared to the other times where there was two of each link displayed, when it was attempted in PHP. My problem is that all links look normal and the CSS property is not applied. I have a feeling that it has to do with my PHP code, but I'm not certain.   • Hidden Features of PHP?

    EDIT: This didn't really start as a hidden features of PHP topic, but thats what it ended up as, so go nuts. I know this sounds like a point-whoring question but let me explain where I'm coming from. Out of college I got a job at a PHP shop. I worked there for a year and a half and thought that I had learned all there was to learn about programming. Then I got a job as a one-man internal development shop at a sizable corporation where all the work was in C#. In my commitment to the position I started reading a ton of blogs and books and quickly realized how wrong I was to think I knew everything. I learned about unit testing, dependency injection and decorator patterns, the design principle of loose coupling, the composition over inheritance debate, and so on and on and on - I am still very much absorbing it all. Needless to say my programming style has changed entirely in the last year. Now I find myself picking up a php project doing some coding for a friend's start-up and I feel completely constrained as opposed to programming in C#. It really bothers me that all variables at a class scope have to be referred to by appending '$this-' . It annoys me that none of the IDEs that I've tried have very good intellisense and that my SimpleTest unit tests methods have to start with the word 'test'. It drives me crazy that dynamic typing keeps me from specifying implicitly which parameter type a method expects, and that you have to write a switch statement to do method overloads. I can't stand that you can't have nested namespaces and have to use the :: operator to call the base class's constructor. Now I have no intention of starting a PHP vs C# debate, rather what I mean to say is that I'm sure there are some PHP features that I either don't know about or know about yet fail to use properly. I am set in my C# universe and having trouble seeing outside the glass bowl. So I'm asking, what are your favorite features of PHP? What are things you can do in it that you can't or are more difficult in the .Net languages?

    Hello, I have a problem using a distributed WSDL File ( scheme / other definitions are declared outside the actual wsdl) with php's SoapClient. This is the Fault Message I get: SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: 'getSomeInfo' already defined. After some googling , it seems to be a bug inside php as someone else discovered exactly the same problem: http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=45282 Has there been any bug fix(es)? Any solution to work around this bug? PS: I think posting a code snippet is senseless, since the invocation of the SoapClient ctor using just the WSDL is the only that fails.   • How to output formatted HTML from PHP?

    I like to format all my HTML with tabs for neatness and readability. Recently I started using PHP and now I have a lot of HTML output that comes from in between PHP tags. Those output lines all line up one the left side of the screen. I have to use /n to make a line go to the next. Is there anything like that for forcing tabs, or any way to have neat HTML output coming from PHP?
