  • Why can't I install Ubuntu 10.04 on a system that already has Ubuntu 8.04?

    - by Android Eve
Ubuntu 10.04 is beautiful. I love it. I am dying to install it on my PC, alongside the existing Ubuntu 8.04 (from which I write this message right now). But... it won't let me! When I reach the partitioning stage (manual!) Ubuntu 10.04 sees my two HDDs as one RAID volume. It doesn't see all the partitions I already have in place in /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. Even Windows 7 doesn't behave like this... (yes, I actually managed to install Windows 7 64-bit in dual-boot configuration with Ubuntu 8.04 on this same system). Note: GParted on Ubuntu 10.04 (live CD) sees the partition intended for Ubuntu 10.04 (/dev/sda4) perfectly, but is unable to format it. Any idea how to solve this problem?

  • Burning iso images with wodim loses 2048 bytes at the end

    - by Grumbel
If I burn an iso image with: wodim -data dev=/dev/scd0 in.iso and then read it back out with: dd if=/dev/scd0 of=out.iso The resulting files are not identical, out.iso is 2048 bytes shorter then in.iso. What is going on here and how can I fix it? Using Ubuntu 10.04 and Wodim 1.1.10 PS: dd always ends with an Input/output error, not just with this CD, but with all of them. I think its just a limitation of dd, but an explanation why it happens and how to avoid it would be welcome as well.

  • growing EBS RAID volume

    - by Ryan Fernandes
I've created a RAID0 configuration with two 1GB EBS volumes, mounted at /dev/md0 using mdadm and formatted with XFS Next, I copied some files over to fill the volume to around 30% of its capacity (of 2GB) I then created snapshots of the volumes using ec2-consistent-snapshot and created volumes of the said snapshots but specified the volume size to be 2GB (effective doubling the capacity on each disk) I then spun up a new instance, assembled the RAID0 configuration on /dev/md0 from the 2 volumes mentioned above and mount it to /vol df -hT showed /vol as 2GB (as expected) Now I ran sudo xfs_growfs -d /vol. The command completed normally but reported blocks changed from 523776 to 524160 (only!) and df -hT still showed /vol as 2GB (instead of the expected 4GB) I rebooted, remounted, reassembled the RAID but it still reports the old size. EDIT: trying to grow the RAID using mdadm --grow yields mdadm: raid0 array /dev/md0 cannot be reshaped Is there any other way I can grow a RAID0 array?

  • e2fsck extremly slow, although enough memory exists

    - by kaefert
    I've got this external USB-Disk: kaefert@blechmobil:~$ lsusb -s 2:3 Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0bc2:3320 Seagate RSS LLC As can be seen in this dmesg output, there are some problems that prevents that disk from beeing mounted: kaefert@blechmobil:~$ dmesg | grep sdb [ 114.474342] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] 732566645 4096-byte logical blocks: (3.00 TB/2.72 TiB) [ 114.475089] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off [ 114.475092] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 43 00 00 00 [ 114.475959] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [ 114.477093] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] 732566645 4096-byte logical blocks: (3.00 TB/2.72 TiB) [ 114.501649] sdb: sdb1 [ 114.502717] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] 732566645 4096-byte logical blocks: (3.00 TB/2.72 TiB) [ 114.504354] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI disk [ 116.804408] EXT4-fs (sdb1): ext4_check_descriptors: Checksum for group 3976 failed (47397!=61519) [ 116.804413] EXT4-fs (sdb1): group descriptors corrupted! So I went and fired up my favorite partition manager - gparted, and told it to verify and repair the partition sdb1. This made gparted call e2fsck (version 1.42.4 (12-Jun-2012)) e2fsck -f -y -v /dev/sdb1 Although gparted called e2fsck with the "-v" option, sadly it doesn't show me the output of my e2fsck process (bugreport https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467925 ) I started this whole thing on Sunday (2012-11-04_2200) evening, so about 48 hours ago, this is what htop says about it now (2012-11-06-1900): PID USER PRI NI VIRT RES SHR S CPU% MEM% TIME+ Command 3704 root 39 19 1560M 1166M 768 R 98.0 19.5 42h56:43 e2fsck -f -y -v /dev/sdb1 Now I found a few posts on the internet that discuss e2fsck running slow, for example: http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=13613 where they write that its a good idea to see if the disk is just that slow because maybe its damaged, and I think these outputs tell me that this is not the case in my case: kaefert@blechmobil:~$ sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sdb /dev/sdb: Timing cached reads: 3562 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1783.29 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 82 MB in 3.01 seconds = 27.26 MB/sec kaefert@blechmobil:~$ sudo hdparm /dev/sdb /dev/sdb: multcount = 0 (off) readonly = 0 (off) readahead = 256 (on) geometry = 364801/255/63, sectors = 5860533160, start = 0 However, although I can read quickly from that disk, this disk speed doesn't seem to be used by e2fsck, considering tools like gkrellm or iotop or this: kaefert@blechmobil:~$ iostat -x Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (blechmobil) 2012-11-06 _x86_64_ (2 CPU) avg-cpu: %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle 14,24 47,81 14,63 0,95 0,00 22,37 Device: rrqm/s wrqm/s r/s w/s rkB/s wkB/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz await r_await w_await svctm %util sda 0,59 8,29 2,42 5,14 43,17 160,17 53,75 0,30 39,80 8,72 54,42 3,95 2,99 sdb 137,54 5,48 9,23 0,20 587,07 22,73 129,35 0,07 7,70 7,51 16,18 2,17 2,04 Now I researched a little bit on how to find out what e2fsck is doing with all that processor time, and I found the tool strace, which gives me this: kaefert@blechmobil:~$ sudo strace -p3704 lseek(4, 41026998272, SEEK_SET) = 41026998272 write(4, "\212\354K[_\361\3nl\212\245\352\255jR\303\354\312Yv\334p\253r\217\265\3567\325\257\3766"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 48404766720, SEEK_SET) = 48404766720 read(4, "\7t\260\366\346\337\304\210\33\267j\35\377'\31f\372\252\ffU\317.y\211\360\36\240c\30`\34"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 41027002368, SEEK_SET) = 41027002368 write(4, "\232]7Ws\321\352\t\1@[+5\263\334\276{\343zZx\352\21\316`1\271[\202\350R`"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 48404770816, SEEK_SET) = 48404770816 read(4, "\17\362r\230\327\25\346//\210H\v\311\3237\323K\304\306\361a\223\311\324\272?\213\tq \370\24"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 41027006464, SEEK_SET) = 41027006464 write(4, "\367yy>x\216?=\324Z\305\351\376&\25\244\210\271\22\306}\276\237\370(\214\205G\262\360\257#"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 48404774912, SEEK_SET) = 48404774912 read(4, "\365\25\0\21|T\0\21}3t_\272\373\222k\r\177\303\1\201\261\221$\261B\232\3142\21U\316"..., 4096) = 4096 ^CProcess 3704 detached around 16 of these lines every second, so 4 read and 4 write operations every second, which I don't consider to be a lot.. And finally, my question: Will this process ever finish? If those numbers from fseek (48404774912) represent bytes, that would be something like 45 gigabytes, with this beeing a 3 terrabyte disk, which would give me 134 days to go, if the speed stays constant, and he scans the disk like this completly and only once. Do you have some advice for me? I have most of the data on that disk elsewhere, but I've put a lot of hours into sorting and merging it to this disk, so I would prefer to getting this disk up and running again, without formatting it anew. I don't think that the hardware is damaged since the disk is only a few months and since I can't see any I/O errors in the dmesg output. UPDATE: I just looked at the strace output again (2012-11-06_2300), now it looks like this: lseek(4, 1419860611072, SEEK_SET) = 1419860611072 read(4, "3#\f\2447\335\0\22A\355\374\276j\204'\207|\217V|\23\245[\7VP\251\242\276\207\317:"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 43018145792, SEEK_SET) = 43018145792 write(4, "]\206\231\342Y\204-2I\362\242\344\6R\205\361\324\177\265\317C\334V\324\260\334\275t=\10F."..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 1419860615168, SEEK_SET) = 1419860615168 read(4, "\262\305\314Y\367\37x\326\245\226\226\320N\333$s\34\204\311\222\7\315\236\336\300TK\337\264\236\211n"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 43018149888, SEEK_SET) = 43018149888 write(4, "\271\224m\311\224\25!I\376\16;\377\0\223H\25Yd\201Y\342\r\203\271\24eG<\202{\373V"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 1419860619264, SEEK_SET) = 1419860619264 read(4, ";d\360\177\n\346\253\210\222|\250\352T\335M\33\260\320\261\7g\222P\344H?t\240\20\2548\310"..., 4096) = 4096 lseek(4, 43018153984, SEEK_SET) = 43018153984 write(4, "\360\252j\317\310\251G\227\335{\214`\341\267\31Y\202\360\v\374\307oq\3063\217Z\223\313\36D\211"..., 4096) = 4096 So this number of the lseeks before the reads, like 1419860619264 are already a lot bigger, standing for 1.29 terabytes if the numbers are bytes, so it doesn't seem to be a linear progress on a big scale, maybe there are only some areas that need work, that have big gaps in between them.   • Booting from hard drive fails after installing Centos from USB Stick

    - by Rick
I created a Centos Live 5.4 Bootable USB drive. I used this to install Centos on a HP Netbook. When the system goes to write the Grub boot loader to disk, it wants to write the boot loader to the usb drive (/dev/sda), not the hard disk (/dev/hda). I do have the option of writing the boot loader to /dev/hda, (not to the mbr!) but when I reboot I get an load error and the Grub prompt. How can I get Centos booting from the hard disk instead of using the USB key.

  • grub2 error: out of disk

    - by Carl Smotricz
I'm trying to make a 250G USB hard disk Ubuntu-bootable on a Compaq nc6220 laptop. I've removed all other disks, so /dev/sda (the USB disk) is the only disk other than CDROM. I installed Ubuntu 9.10 to this disk from the live CD, putting the bootloader on /dev/sda . The default system couldn't be booted, and nothing I did in the Grub menu/cmdline helped. So I chrooted onto the disk and did grub-install /dev/sda. That seemed to work fine, but Grub (1.97 beta 4) keeps coming up with error: out of disk Even when I drop to the command line to do something simple like ls or help, it's always the same error message. Any hints for resolving this, please?

  • Issues with hard disk secure erase

    - by John Watson
I want to completely wipe all the data and both OSes (Ubuntu and Windows 7) from my hard drive. I tried DBAN but it gives me an error and does not run. I am looking for an alternative. After reading some articles online, I came to know that, using a Linux live CD, it can be done using either of following commands. a) sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda b) sudo shred -vfz -n 1 /dev/sda My questions are 1) Which option (a or b) is more secure (wipes everything) and faster? 2) Does either of the options damage the hard drive or anything? I want to use hard drive again i.e. installing Windows and Ubuntu again.

  • Adding a web folder via command line (Windows)

    - by Ryan
I am trying to add a web folder via command line in windows. At first I though I should use the "net use" command, but when I tried I kept getting System error 67: C:net use * http://dev.subdomain.domain.tdl/dav/ the user name for 'dev.subdomain.domain.tdl': correctusername the password for dev.subdomain.domain.tdl: System error 67 has occurred. The network name cannot be found. The url I used works in a browser. It's an Apache dav on basic auth LDAP authentication method being used. Here's the thing... I CAN create a web folder when I use the "Add a network place" wizard. When I do net use, I don't see it listed in the prompt that follows. What utility do I need to use to mount a web folder in command line?

  • VirtualBox: Grub sees hard drive, Linux does not

    - by thabubble
I installed Linux on my second hard drive. I can boot to it just fine. But when I try to boot it from a Windows 7 host using http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch09.html#rawdisk, grub sees it and can load vmlinuz and initramfs. Log: :: running early hook [udev] :: running hook [udev] :: Triggering uevents... :: running hook [plymouth] :: Loading plymouth...done. ... Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/{root UUID} ... ERROR: device 'UUID={root UUID}' not found. Skipping fsck. ERROR: Unable to find root device 'UUID={root UUID}' It then drops me into a recovery shell. I checked "/etc/fstab" and it's empty, there are also no sd* devices in dev, the only thing in /dev/disk/by-id is a VBox CD device. I'm not too good with these kinds of things so help would be greatly appriciated.

  • IOException opening RFCOMM on openSUSE

    - by Chief A-G
I have a permissions problem on openSUSE with Bluetooth /dev/rfcomm0. I've written a small test application which opens /dev/rfcomm0 and sends a request message and retrieves a response message. At first my problem was a permission denied error on /dev/rfcomm0 until I added the user account to the dialup users group. Now I get a System.IO.IOException Interrupted system call error whenever I run the app. I can sudo my application and it runs fine. I'm not sure how and which permissions to set to get this work work under my normal user account.

  • Do I have a bad SD card?

    - by User1
I'm trying to copy data from my computer to an SD card. After a few hundred megs, I keep getting the following errors in dmesg: [34542.836192] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 855936 [34542.836284] FAT: unable to read inode block for updating (i_pos 13694981) [34542.836306] MMC: killing requests for dead queue [34542.836310] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 9280 [34542.837035] FAT: unable to read inode block for updating (i_pos 148486) [34542.837062] MMC: killing requests for dead queue [34542.837066] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 1 [34542.837074] FAT: bread failed in fat_clusters_flush [34542.837085] MMC: killing requests for dead queue These were all files I copied from a smaller SD card. I just want to transfer them to my new, larger card for my phone. I tried the same experiment with different files on a different machine and the card failed again. Reading data from the old card went fine. My systems are older and the new SD card is new (16GB Class 4). Could this be that my computers are too old? Is there a definitive test to verify if my SD card is bad?

  • Debian doesn't boot after removing secondary hard drive

    - by Daveel
In the beginning I had Debian 6 running on one hard drive (/dev/sda1). Then I decided to keep all my stuff(pics, videos, etc..) in another slave hard drive (/dev/sdb1). So sda1 has Debian OS sdb1 doesn't contain any OS files I have made it to mount automatically by adding a row in /etc/fstab (UUID and directory to mount to) Time have passed and when I tried to change that secondary hard drive with another hard drive with bigger capacity, for some reason Debian won't boot (just itself sda1) after removing secondary hard drive (sdb1) But if I plug sdb1 back, it boots just fine. I tried to comment line out from /etc/fstab, so it doesn't mount And also did update-grub after umount /dev/sdb1 What's the right way to remove hard drive secondary hard drive?

  • Doing "text mode 'splash' game" during boot.

    - by Vi
Sometimes I want to do something (for example, playing a simple text-mode game) while the system is booting up. This is especially useful when lengthy reiserfs transaction replays are happening. Current hacky way of doing it is: Put the program on initramfs. Before running /sbin/init, "openvt 2 /my/program". Turn off messages from kernel (sysrq 0) Override /dev/console with /dev/null (to prevent boot messages). The problems are: There are STILL some messages interfering with program output. I can't see boot messages by switching to that virtual terminal back. After finishing the boot sequence, /dev/tty2 ends up being attached both to getty and my program. How to do it properly without of running graphical splashes? The system is Linux Debian Squeeze, no dependency based sysv scripts.

  • Migrating a running production server to Xen, unmodified as a second HDD?

    - by DaveCol
I have a production server which I am looking to virtualize via XEN. For this purpose I have purchased a new Sata HDD, in which I have promptly installed CentOS 5.5 x64 with XEN server installed. Now I have two HDD: /dev/sda1 running as host with Xen Server Installed; and /dev/sda2 which is the HDD where the original server has installed. Is it posible to use /dev/sda2 to work as GuestOS in a xen server? Would I have to modify its kernel? Thank you for any input

  • Bootstrapped Ubuntu 12.04 EC2 instance. Where to find log?

    - by nocode
So I bootstrapped a shell script to install and run a bunch of tasks. Looks like the it ran for the most part, but I added one part and that was formatting an extra EBS volume. Pretty straightforward: mkfs.ext4 /dev/xvdf mkdir –m 000 /vol01 echo “/dev/xvdf /vol01 auto noatime 0 0” | sudo tee –a /etc/fstab sudo mount /vol01 I was able to install MongoDB, NGINX and Forever. I selected to use /dev/xdvf in the AWS console and see it. The 3rd line is not in fstab either. I've searched through various logs in /var/log/ but I don't really see much indicating the execution of the bootstrap. Logs that I see and looked through: auth.log boot.log dmesg dpkg.log syslog udev

  • How to make RHEL have persistent local hdd name?

    - by Mxx
I have 2 identical Dell R720 servers running identical Oracle Enterprise Linux(RHEL)6.4. Both servers (supposedly) configured in exactly the same way. However, one of the servers is behaving differently. Every other reboot its local HDD name(and related partitions) flip from /dev/sda to /dev/sdj. This is problematic because both servers are configured for multipathd, and if this flip happens their config does not match and Oracle DB(or its clusterware) complains that nodes are not configured identically. Why does one server has a consistent device names while the other server keeps flipping back and forth? How can I make local hdd to consistently be /dev/sda? I suspect this might have something to do with udev but I'm not sure.

  • how to recover data from my disk - I accidentally copied with dd an iso on it

  • Can You Specify Where LVM Snapshots Are (Initially) Stored?

    - by bottles
Disclaimer: this is my first time using lvm. Upon RTFM, it appears that LVM snapshots are automatically stored in the same directory as the original logical volume. In my case, that would mean the /dev directory. This isn't very nice, because there's not enough disk space in there for me to store a large snapshot. So when I run a command like lvcreate --size 1G --snapshot --name snapshot /dev/lvmData/usr, I need an additional 1G of space free in /dev? Is there any way to specify a different directory in which to store my snapshot?

  • Effectively managing crontab

    - by jakenoble
My crontab looks something like this; 1 * * * * /var/www/cron/site1.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 0 * * * * /var/www/cron/site2.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 3 * * * * /var/www/cron/site3.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 This works great and lets me place all the nasty little script calls into one place, rather than making crontab harder to read than it already is. But, this fails massively when site2.sh needs one script to run once a day, another to run once a week and another to run every 5 minutes. And of course it gets worse as new scripts get added with different timings. Is there a better way? EDIT By better I mean making it more manageable, having a large crontab is not manageable, but neither is having scripts all over the place. Not a GUI necessarily.

I have a question and need a suggestion. We have to manage .htaccess file on three different instances - dev, qa and prod. Currently we have tortoise configured for scm. The issue we are facing is that .htaccess for dev & qa is different from the prod. At present, we have to manually merge differences from dev .htaccess to prod .htaccess. Is there any alternative way of managing this file without this manual process since it is error prone. Any suggestions in this regard will be highly appreciated

I would like to create a couple of short cuts on my iMac which ssh on to my dev box and on to my prod box. I would like my dev connection to use the settings something similar to home-brew (green text black background) and my prod connection to use red text black background) - How can this be configured so that this is possible. Would I need multiple bashrc files one for prod and one for dev and source individually? If this is the case, how can i get the profiles to be sources as soon as i double click the shortcuts? Thanks

  • Provider<HttpSession> not getting injected

    - by user1033715
I am using gwt dispatch to communicate and get data from server to client. In order to get user specific data I want to store the user object in httpsession and access application specific data from servlet context but when I inject Provider<HttpSession> when the handler execute is called but the dispatchservlet the provider is null i.e it does not get injected. following is the code from my action handler @Inject Provider<HttpSession> provider; public ReadEntityHandler() { } @Override public EntityResult execute(ReadEntityAction arg0, ExecutionContext arg1) throws DispatchException { HttpSession session = null; if (provider == null) System.out.println("httpSession is null.."); else { session = provider.get(); System.out.println("httpSession not null.."); } System.out.println("reached execution"); return null; } and my Dispatch servlet @Singleton public class ActionDispatchServlet extends RemoteServiceServlet implements StandardDispatchService { private Dispatch dispatch; public ActionDispatchServlet() { InstanceActionHandlerRegistry registry = new DefaultActionHandlerRegistry(); registry.addHandler(new ReadEntityHandler()); dispatch = new SimpleDispatch(registry); } @Override public Result execute(Action<?> action) throws DispatchException { try { return dispatch.execute(action); } catch (RuntimeException e) { log("Exception while executing " + action.getClass().getName() + ": " + e.getMessage(), e); throw e; } } } when I try to inject the ReadEntityHandler it throws the following exception [WARN] failed guiceFilter com.google.inject.ProvisionException: Guice provision errors: 1) Error injecting constructor, java.lang.NullPointerException at com.ensarm.wikirealty.server.service.ActionDispatchServlet.<init>(ActionDispatchServlet.java:22) at com.ensarm.wikirealty.server.service.ActionDispatchServlet.class(ActionDispatchServlet.java:22) while locating com.ensarm.wikirealty.server.service.ActionDispatchServlet 1 error at com.google.inject.internal.InjectorImpl$4.get(InjectorImpl.java:834) at com.google.inject.internal.InjectorImpl.getInstance(InjectorImpl.java:856) at com.google.inject.servlet.ServletDefinition.init(ServletDefinition.java:74) at com.google.inject.servlet.ManagedServletPipeline.init(ManagedServletPipeline.java:84) at com.google.inject.servlet.ManagedFilterPipeline.initPipeline(ManagedFilterPipeline.java:106) at com.google.inject.servlet.GuiceFilter.init(GuiceFilter.java:168) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.FilterHolder.doStart(FilterHolder.java:97) at org.mortbay.component.AbstractLifeCycle.start(AbstractLifeCycle.java:39) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler.initialize(ServletHandler.java:593) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.Context.startContext(Context.java:140) at org.mortbay.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext.startContext(WebAppContext.java:1220) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.ContextHandler.doStart(ContextHandler.java:513) at org.mortbay.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext.doStart(WebAppContext.java:448) at com.google.gwt.dev.shell.jetty.JettyLauncher$WebAppContextWithReload.doStart(JettyLauncher.java:468) at org.mortbay.component.AbstractLifeCycle.start(AbstractLifeCycle.java:39) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.HandlerWrapper.doStart(HandlerWrapper.java:130) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.RequestLogHandler.doStart(RequestLogHandler.java:115) at org.mortbay.component.AbstractLifeCycle.start(AbstractLifeCycle.java:39) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.HandlerWrapper.doStart(HandlerWrapper.java:130) at org.mortbay.jetty.Server.doStart(Server.java:222) at org.mortbay.component.AbstractLifeCycle.start(AbstractLifeCycle.java:39) at com.google.gwt.dev.shell.jetty.JettyLauncher.start(JettyLauncher.java:672) at com.google.gwt.dev.DevMode.doStartUpServer(DevMode.java:509) at com.google.gwt.dev.DevModeBase.startUp(DevModeBase.java:1068) at com.google.gwt.dev.DevModeBase.run(DevModeBase.java:811) at com.google.gwt.dev.DevMode.main(DevMode.java:311) Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException at net.customware.gwt.dispatch.server.DefaultActionHandlerRegistry.addHandler(DefaultActionHandlerRegistry.java:21) at com.ensarm.wikirealty.server.service.ActionDispatchServlet.<init>(ActionDispatchServlet.java:24) at com.ensarm.wikirealty.server.service.ActionDispatchServlet$$FastClassByGuice$$e0a28a5d.newInstance(<generated>) at com.google.inject.internal.cglib.reflect.FastConstructor.newInstance(FastConstructor.java:40) at com.google.inject.internal.DefaultConstructionProxyFactory$1.newInstance(DefaultConstructionProxyFactory.java:58) at com.google.inject.internal.ConstructorInjector.construct(ConstructorInjector.java:84) at com.google.inject.internal.ConstructorBindingImpl$Factory.get(ConstructorBindingImpl.java:200) at com.google.inject.internal.ProviderToInternalFactoryAdapter$1.call(ProviderToInternalFactoryAdapter.java:43) at com.google.inject.internal.InjectorImpl.callInContext(InjectorImpl.java:878) at com.google.inject.internal.ProviderToInternalFactoryAdapter.get(ProviderToInternalFactoryAdapter.java:40) at com.google.inject.Scopes$1$1.get(Scopes.java:64) at com.google.inject.internal.InternalFactoryToProviderAdapter.get(InternalFactoryToProviderAdapter.java:40) at com.google.inject.internal.InjectorImpl$4$1.call(InjectorImpl.java:825) at com.google.inject.internal.InjectorImpl.callInContext(InjectorImpl.java:871) at com.google.inject.internal.InjectorImpl$4.get(InjectorImpl.java:821) ... 25 more

  • Push notification not received in ios5 device

    - by Surender Rathore
    I am sending push notification on device which has iOS 5.0.1, but notification is not received on iOS5 device. If i try to send notification on iOS4.3.3 device, it received on this device. My server is developed in c# and apple push notification certificate is used in .p12 format. My code to register the notification is - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after application launch. // Set the navigation controller as the window's root view controller and display. deviceToken = nil; self.window.rootViewController = self.navigationController; [self.window makeKeyAndVisible]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] enabledRemoteNotificationTypes]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] registerForRemoteNotificationTypes: UIRemoteNotificationTypeBadge | UIRemoteNotificationTypeSound | UIRemoteNotificationTypeAlert]; return YES; } - (void)application:(UIApplication *)application didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken:(NSData *)devToken { UIAlertView *alertView=[[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle:@"Succeeded in registering for APNS" message:@"Sucess" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alertView show]; [alertView release]; deviceToken = [devToken retain]; NSMutableString *dev = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; NSRange r; r.length = 1; unsigned char c; for (int i = 0; i < [deviceToken length]; i++) { r.location = i; [deviceToken getBytes:&c range:r]; if (c < 10) { [dev appendFormat:@"0%x", c]; } else { [dev appendFormat:@"%x", c]; } } NSUserDefaults *def = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [def setObject:dev forKey:@"DeviceToken"]; [def synchronize]; NSLog(@"Registered for APNS %@\n%@", deviceToken, dev); [dev release]; } - (void)application:(UIApplication *)application didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"Failed to register %@", [error localizedDescription]); UIAlertView *alertView=[[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle:@"FAILED" message:@"Fail" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alertView show]; [alertView release]; deviceToken = nil; } - (void)application:(UIApplication *)application didReceiveRemoteNotification:(NSDictionary *)userInfo { NSLog(@"Recieved Remote Notification %@", userInfo); NSDictionary *aps = [userInfo objectForKey:@"aps"]; NSDictionary *alert = [aps objectForKey:@"alert"]; //NSString *actionLocKey = [alert objectForKey:@"action-loc-key"]; NSString *body = [alert objectForKey:@"body"]; // NSMutableArray *viewControllers = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:[self.navigationController viewControllers]]; // // if ([viewControllers count] > 2) { // NSRange r; // r.length = [viewControllers count] - 2; // r.location = 2; // [viewControllers removeObjectsInRange:r]; // // MapViewController *map = (MapViewController*)[viewControllers objectAtIndex:1]; // [map askDriver]; // } // // [self.navigationController setViewControllers:viewControllers]; // [viewControllers release]; //NewBooking,"BookingId",Passenger_latitude,Passenger_longitude,Destination_latitude,Destination_longitude,Distance,Time,comments NSArray *arr = [body componentsSeparatedByString:@","]; if ([arr count]>0) { MapViewController *map = (MapViewController*)[[self.navigationController viewControllers] objectAtIndex:1]; [map askDriver:arr]; [self.navigationController popToViewController:[[self.navigationController viewControllers] objectAtIndex:1] animated:YES]; } //NSString *sound = [userInfo objectForKey:@"sound"]; //UIAlertView *alertV = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:actionLocKey // message:body delegate:nil // cancelButtonTitle:@"Reject" // otherButtonTitles:@"Accept", nil]; // // [alertV show]; // [alertV release]; } Can anyone help me out with this issue. Why notification received on iOS4.3 device but not on iOS5? Thank you very much!!! in advance

  • The volume "filesystem root" has only 0 bytes disk space remaining?

    - by radek
I installed 11.10 ~two weeks ago and run into some strange troubles recently. Installation was on brand new laptop with clear 128GB SSD. I opted for encrypting home directory. Apart from that I accepted defaults during the installation. There is no other OS on my laptop. I had circa 40GB in use when (for the third time) I got to see this very unpleasant window: Twice situation was pretty bad and whole system slowed down considerably. After reboot I could not login to graphical interface (with an error message informing about insufficient space) and had to remove some files from command line first. Third time I still managed to quickly delete some files and it helped. My laptop is mainly work environment: so no torrents, games, just two movies. Only media filling space are ~20GB of pictures, and bunch of pdfs. Working mostly on PostgreSQL & PostGIS, GeoServer and QGIS recently. Although I had lots of opportunities to test and practice my backups I would be extremely grateful if somebody could point me to any potential solutions to this problem. My laptop has been bought just before I installed Ubuntu, and it came without OS. Could that be hardware issue? Or is the encrypted home causing me headaches? Thanks for help! Update: As suggested by @maniat1k, here is current output of fdisk -l: WARNING: GPT (GUID Partition Table) detected on '/dev/sda'! The util fdisk doesn't support GPT. Use GNU Parted.
