  • IIS6 Log time recording problems

    On three separate occasions on two separate servers at nearly the same times, 6.9 hours seemingly went by without any data being written to the IIS logs, but, on closer inspection, it appears that it was all recorded all at once. Here's the facts as I know them: Windows Server 2003 R2 w/ IIS6 Logging using GMT, server local time GMT-7. Application was still operating and I have SQL data to prove that Time gaps appear in log file, not across two # headers appear at gap Load balancer pings every 30 seconds No caching Here's info on a particular case: an entry appears for 2009-09-21 18:09:27 then #headers the next entry is for 2009-09-22 01:21:54, and so are the next 1600 entries in this log file and 370 in the next log file. about half of the ~2000 entries on 2009-09-22 01:21:54 are load balancer pings (est. at 2/min for 6.9hrs = 828 pings) then entries are recorded as normal. I believe that these events may coincide with me deploying an ASP.NET application update into those machines. Also note that /ping.aspx returned 404 then switched to 200 just as the problem started. I rename the "I'm alive page" so the load balancer stops sending requests to the server while I'm working on it. What you see here is me renaming it back so the load balancer will use the server. So, this problem definitely coincides with me re-enabling the server. Any ideas?

  • Sending time with timezone from PHP to flash

    I am trying to send the time to flash but set to the currently timezone. When you view the below even though the echo date, looks like its working the $time is the same. When i test in flash I get the extra hour added.   • I cannot boot Ubuntu from WUBI install with windows 7, get an error message every time

    i have tried several times to install ubuntu using wubi, i can't use a disc as i have a notebook computer and there is no optical drive. the download and installation all seem to work well but whenever i try to boot ubuntu at the windows 7/ubuntu menu it comes up with this error screen. I have used both the C: drive and the D: drive to install Ubuntu several times each, it's always unsuccessful. "Windows has failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer Choose your language settings and then click 'next' Click repair your computer. If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. File: \ubuntu\winboot\wubildr.mbr Status: 0xc000000F Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt." I use an ASUS x501a with windows 7. What do i do to fix this? I want to be able to dual boot Windows 7 and ubuntu. Thanks a lot :)

  • Printing an East Coast Timestamp in Arizona time

    Hello, The code returns "datesubmitted" in a nice format. The field "datesubmitted" is a timestamp of East Coast time. How could I print it out as Arizona time? Right now, that would be 3 hours behind East Coast time. For now, I would be happy just to do that. However, during other parts of the year (when Daylight Savings time is not being used), Arizona time is only 2 hours behind East Coast time. Is there a way that I could print the date below so that Arizona time is always correctly displayed? Or would I have to change the code when Daylight Savings time stops and starts?   • C++ build systems

    I will start a new C++ project (it may have some C components as well) soon and I am looking for a modern, industrial-strength (i.e. non-beta) build system. The software will be created by several developers in 3-5 years and will run on Linux (Mac OS X and Windows might be supported later). I am looking for something that has better comprehensibility, ease-of-use and maintainability than e.g. make but is still powerful enough to handle a complex project. Open source software is preferred. I started looking into Boost.Build, CMake, Maven and SCons so far and liked features and concepts of all of those, but I'm lacking the experience to make a decision for a large project.

  • System checks for disk drive error every time it boots

    When my disk space for the ubuntu installation partition was getting low, from a live cd, I used gparted to increase its volume capacity, but deleting another partition and merging it to the ubuntu partition. Since then onwards, I am receiving disk checking for errors at boot screen for my partitions, always. What seem to be causing this and how to fix it? Update Here is my boot.log if it provides few insight fsck from util-linux 2.19.1 fsck from util-linux 2.19.1 /dev/sda1 was not cleanly unmounted, check forced. ubuntu: clean, 501325/1310720 files, 2958455/5242880 blocks /dev/sda1: 241/51272 files (3.3% non-contiguous), 73541/102400 blocks mountall: fsck /boot [358] terminated with status 1 Skipping profile in /etc/apparmor.d/disable: usr.bin.firefox ... /dev/sda1 is a separate grub partition for my dual OS's

  • How to validate Windows VC++ DLL on Unix systems

    I have a solution, mostly C#, but with a few VC++ projects, that is pushed through our standard release process (perl and bash scripts on Unix boxes). Currently the initiative is to validate DLL and EXE versions as they pass through the process. All the versioning is set so that File Version is of the format $Id: $ (between the colon and the second dollar should be a git commit hash), and the Product Version is of the format $Hudson Build: $ (between the colon and the second dollar should be a string representing the hudson build details). Currently this system works extremely well for the C# projects because this version information is stored as plain strings within the compiled code (you can literally use the unix strings command and see the version information); the problem is that the VC++ projects do not expose this information as strings (I have used a windows system to verify that the version information is correctly being set), so I'm not sure how to extract the version on a unix system. Any suggestions for either A) Getting a string representation of the version embedded in the compiled code, or B) A utility/script which can extract this information?

  • getting real link from rss feed link

    I am experimenting with scraping certain pages from an RSS feed using curl and php. The page scraping was working fine when I was just using actual links, not links from the rss feeds. However, I realize now that links in rss feeds are usually just redirects to the actual page (at least this is what it seems like). Because now when I scrape a page with the rss link, it doesn't actually get the information I am looking for. Has anyone encountered this and know of a workaround. Is there anyway to see where the rss link is redirecting to and capturing that value?

  • CRC32 calculations for png chunk doesn't match the real one

    I'm attempting to mimic the function used for creating CRC's in PNG files, I'm using the autodin II polynomial and the source code from: http://www.opensource.apple.com/source/xnu/xnu-1456.1.26/bsd/libkern/crc32.c My tests have all been for the IHDR chunk, so my parameters have been: crc - 0xffffffff and 0 (both have been suggested) buff - the address of the IHDR Chunk's type. length - the IHDR Chunk's length + 4 (the length of the chunk's data + the length of the type) I printed the calculated CRC in binary, which I compared to the actual CRC of the chunk. I can see no similarities (little-big endian, reversed bits, XOR'd, etc). This is the data for the IHDR chunk (hexadecimal format): length(big endian): d0 00 00 00 (13) type: 49 48 44 52 data: 00 00 01 77 00 00 01 68 08 06 00 00 00 existing CRC: b0 bb 40 ac If anyone can tell me why my calculations are off, or give me a CRC32 function that will work I would greatly appreciate it.   • c++ normalizing data sizes across systems

    I have a struct with three variables: two unsigned ints and an unsigned char. From my understanding, a c++ char is always 1 byte regardless of what operating system it is on. The same can't be said for other datatypes. I am looking for a way to normalize POD's so that when saved into a binary file, the resulting file is readable on any operating system that the code is compiled for. I changed my struct to use a 1-byte alignment by adding #pragma as follows: #pragma pack(push, 1) struct test { int a; } #pragma pack(pop) but that doesn't necessarily mean that int a is exactly 4 bytes on every os, I don't think? Is there a way to ensure that a file saved from my code will always be readable?

  • Membership systems for MVC4 that support RavenDB

    I create a lot of quick "proof of concept" MVC apps and I actually found the SimpleMembership provider that shipped with the MVC4 templates to be very handy since it gets me up and running with user registration & OAuth in a matter of minutes. But...I've started to use RavenDb (on RavenHQ for a lot for my projects). So, I starting trying to implement my own "custom membership provider" based on the ExtendedMembershipProvider and while doing that I realized that didn't make much sense. I later stumbled upon 2 interesting projects that try to solve this exact problem: WorldDomination.Web.Auth: https://github.com/PureKrome/WorldDomination.Web.Authentication MemFlex: https://github.com/OdeToCode/Memflex Both are pretty interesting recent efforts and was wondering if these are the only ones being built right now.   • Advice on whether to use scripting, run time compile or something else

    I work in the prodution area at my works and I design and create the software to run our automated test equipment. Everytime I get involved with a new machine I end up with a different and (hopefully) better design. Anyway I have come to the point where I feel I need to start standardization all the machines with the same program. I see a problem when it comes to applying updates as at the moment the test procedures are hard coded into the program at each station. I neeed to be able to update the core program without affecting the testing section. The way I see it that this will mean splitting the program into 2 sections. Main UI - This is the core that talks to everything on the machine such as cameras, sensors, printer etc and is a standalone application. Test Procedure - This is the steps that is executeted everytime the machine runs through a test. The main UI will load the test procedure and execute when ever a test is required. My question is what is the best approach to this in terms of having an application load a file and execute the code with in? Take into account that the code in the test procedure will need access to public methods on the UI/core system to communicate to sensors etc. I have heard about MS Roslyn and had a quick look, would this solve my issue?

    I'm using the awesome_nested_set plugin in my Rails project. I have two models that look like this (simplified): class Customer < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :categories end class Category < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :customer # Columns in the categories table: lft, rgt and parent_id acts_as_nested_set :scope => :customer_id validates_presence_of :name # Further validations... end The tree in the database is constructed as expected. All the values of parent_id, lft and rgt are correct. The tree has multiple root nodes (which is of course allowed in awesome_nested_set). Now, I want to render all categories of a given customer in a correctly sorted tree like structure: for example nested <ul> tags. This wouldn't be too difficult but I need it to be efficient (the less sql queries the better). Update: Figured out that it is possible to calculate the number of children for any given Node in the tree without further SQL queries: number_of_children = (node.rgt - node.lft - 1)/2. This doesn't solve the problem but it may prove to be helpful.
