  • Visual Studio IDE - how do you quickly find the implementation(s) of an interface's method?

    Is there a quick way to find all of the implementations of, not references to, an interface's method/property/etc? Here's some sample code: public class SomeClass : IBaseClass { public Int32 GetInt() { return 1; } } public interface IBaseClass { public Int32 GetInt(); } public class SomeOtherClass { ISomeClass _someClass; private TestMethod() { _someClass = new SomeClass(); _someClass.GetInt(); } } I want to quickly get to SomeClass.GetInt() while reviewing SomeOtherClass.TestMethod(). If I right click on _someClass.GetInt() and click 'Go To Definition', it takes me to the interface. If I click 'Find All References', I could potentially see a list of all uses ... not just the classes that implement the GetInt() method. Is there a faster way to find this? Any tips from other developers? We are using D.I. for most of our dependencies, which means that tracing through deeply nested code takes forever.

  • Tools for Debugging ThreadPool Issues in Visual Studio 2010.

    I have never spent much time debugging multithreaded .NET apps (or others), and have quite a simple one to solve very quickly. Ideally I would imagined and would lurve to be able to intercept thread creation and use by worker objects, so that nothing unexpected happens while I'm on a breakpoint in my thread. Is that realistic? What else is there in VS 2010?

  • Visual Studio 2010 - Is it slow for anyone else?

    I've read a lot of stuff about VS2010 being much more performant than VS2008. When I've finally installed it, I found that it, in fact, is much slower (save for the Add References dialog). For instance, Silverlight projects take twice as long to load, the startup of the IDE itself is much slower, etc... Am I missing something here or is it like this for everyone?

    Eclipse allows us to define a class as: interface MyInterface { void methodA(); int methodB(); } class A : MyInterface { MyInterface myInterface; } and then with this "Generate delegate methods", it will implement all needed methods for the interface, redirecting their logic to myInterface's methods: class A : MyInterface { MyInterface myInterface; public void methodA() { myInterface.methodA(); } public int methodB() { return myInterface.methodB(); } } Is it possible to accomplish the same with VS2010? And with R#? Thanks

  • Server.transfer causing HttpException

    I am developing a C#/SQL ASP.NET web application in VS 2008. Currently I am using the Server.Transfer method to transfer control from one ASPX.CS file to another ASPX file. The first time through, this works. But after control is transferred to this new file it encounters a condition: if (restart == false) { where "restart" is a boolean variable. After this statement it immediately transfers control back to the same ASPX.CS file and tries to reexecute the Server.Transfer method. This time it gives me the following exception and stack trace. Do you know what is causing this? I tried to read this but it didn't make much sense to me. On installation I'm getting the following error: Setup has encountered a problem while trying to copy: F:\Setup\VSSetupWatson\DW20.EXE I've had a look online for a solution and was recommended to reboot my system, however this has not helped.   • Ubuntu hibernate resume fails: "PM: Resume from disk failed"

    I just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.4 from 9.10, and it's now hiding the hibernate and suspend options. How do I get them back? So the way you do this is make sure that your swap partition is in /etc/fstab and swap is enabled, and big enough. Look at /proc/swaps to see if anything is listed. Now I'm getting this error when I boot after suspending: init: ureadahead-other main process (705) terminated with status 4 Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm using Ubuntu with kernel 2.6.32-22-generic.

This problem exists on my windows 7 installation too. However if i start World of Warcraft or Warcraft on windows it doesnt hang for the duration i'm playing the game. After i stop playing and exit the game my laptop hangs inside 2 mins. Here is when it gets weirder. If i disconnect the charger, the laptop doesn't hang. However when I start it in ubuntu recovery mode and drop to root shell and use the 'startx' command everything works perfectly.     Using Ubuntu server, I need to create some user accounts that have the following limitations: (1) User may only view and manipulate files in their home directory. (2) User may only execute commands related to rsync and sftp. I want users to be able to backup files using rsync, and I want them to be able retrieve files using an sftp client like FileZilla. Other than this, I don't want users to be able to view other files on the system, or execute any commands that might mess with the system. I'm more of an Ubuntu Desktop user, and have very little experience administering a linux server. Most tutorials I've found assume I know things that I don't know. So I'm having difficulty setting this up.

  • NFS caching on Ubuntu

    We run a bunch of ubuntu servers (mostly 8.04 LTS) which all mount an nfs share at /nfs. We use the nfs primarily for two purposes: symlinking config files (such as apache vhosts) reading & writing uploaded files This all works great except it makes us fully dependent on the central NFS server (which is a DRBD cluster with heartbeat failover from primary to secondary, but we've still seen issues). What we'd like is if we could mount the NFS through some local caching layer which would make any file which had previously been read remain available even if /nfs isn't. Writes could be disabled for this period. Searching around it looks like cachefilesd may be an option. Unfortunately, it's only packaged for ubuntu 9.10 & 10.04 it looks like. I was also looking for a FUSE-based solution which might fit the bill, but hadn't found anything yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    I've been using Wacom tablets on Linux for quite some time, almost exclusively in Ubuntu, and in previous versions I've used xidump to track input values. I would use that information to put calibration settings in my xorg.conf file. However, in the most recent Ubuntu release, this command does not exist, and the package wacom-tools that previously installed it has now been removed. Is there a new method for calibrating Wacom pads under Linux? Should I have been using a different method all along for obtaining this information?

    I'm new to linux and have a home server set up running ubuntu. In the ui its very easy to mount my additional internal harddrives. I just double click on them. Since I have made this server headless, I now need to mount via the command line. How can I replicate the very simple double click gui behavior? So far all the information I've found is very complex. Ubuntu auto generated folders for each hd in under /media and I can see the harddrives under /dev but have no idea which is which as the hardware is identical between them. I also don't know how they are formated. Thanks in advance for any advice you have.

    Unfortunately all tutorials I have found online until now on how to setup software-raid-1 are outdated on ubuntu 12.40 My target is to setup it on a system with a secondary disk drive that is already running. Format is not an option! I am trying to follow and adapt from 11.10 to 12.04 the following tutorial: http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-set-up-software-raid1-on-a-running-lvm-system-incl-grub2-configuration-ubuntu-11.10-p2 On the above tutorial there is a successful command which creates a raid-1 array by setting the first disk drive with the installed system as missing: mdadm --create /dev/md0 --level=1 --raid-disks=2 missing /dev/sdb1 But when the time comes to add the first main drive with the installed system on the raid-array with this command: mdadm --add /dev/md0 /dev/sda1 I receive an error message. The error message says that the device /dev/sda is (which makes sense) busy! Note: hardware raid solution is not available since the system is a laptop with two disk drives! Thank you
