The object return from ObjectQuery, is not normal object, but EntityObject but what if i write : ( notice the var) var q = customers /*EF entity*/ .Select (c => c.Name.ToUpper()) .OrderBy (n => n) it can be determined both to ienumerable or iqueryable : because ObjectQuery Also implements IEnumerable... i dont know if there's any specific info which tell the compiler "use A and not B. A is more specific..." ( there must be...i just cant find it) any help ? how will it know to use A || B ?

  Straight forward question: Is there an advantage or disadvantage to concatenating variables within strings or using curly braces instead? Concatenated: $greeting = "Welcome, ".$name."!"; Curly braces: $greeting = "Welcome, {$name}!"; Personally, I've always concatenated my strings because I use UEStudio and it highlights PHP variables a different color when concatenated. However, when the variable is not broken out, it does not. It just makes it easier for my eyes to find PHP variables in long strings, etc. EDIT: People are confusing this about being about SQL. This is not what this question is about. I've updated my examples to avoid confusion.

  Hello, I'm sure this has been asked but I'm not quite sure how to properly search for this question, my apologies. I have two tables, Foo and Bar. For has one row per Food, bar has many rows per food matching descriptors. Foo name id Apple 1 Orange 2 Bar id description 1 Tasty 1 Ripe 2 Sweet etc (sorry for the somewhat contrived example). I'm trying to return a query where if, for each row in Foo, Bar contains a descriptor in ('Tasty', 'Juicy') return true ex: Output Apple True Orange False I had been solving this somewhat trivially with a case when I only had one item to match select Foo.name, case bar.description when 'Tasty' then True else 'False' end from Foo left join Bar on foo.id = bar.id where bar.description = 'Tasty' But with multiple items, I keep ending up with extra rows: Output Apple True Apple False etc etc Can someone point me in the right direction on how to think about this problem or what I should be doing?   I want to create a program which calculates how long it will take to repeat a process a certain number of times. I've scaled this down a lot for this example.   I'm having a bit of trouble with ReferencePropertys in App Engine (Python). For a bit of fun, I'm trying to model a folder/file system, but having trouble getting folders to reference folders. My first attempt was this: class Folder(db.Model): id = db.StringProperty() name = db.StringProperty() created = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) folder = db.ReferenceProperty(Folder, collection_name="folders") But that fails as "Folder" isn't defined when "folder" is trying to be defined. I've also tried defining "folder" outside of the main declaration for "Folder", like so: class Folder(db.Model): id = db.StringProperty() name = db.StringProperty() created = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) Folder.folder = db.ReferenceProperty(Folder, collection_name="folders") But that fails with: AttributeError: 'Folder' object has no attribute 'folders' I'm kind of stumped. I am runing 4.0.3 avd. I know that you will give me a link for webs but didnt find any thing that can help.   Hy I'v a little problem with hibernate on netbeans. I've a table with an Auto increment id : CREATE TABLE "DVD" ( "DVD_ID" INT not null primary key GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (START WITH 1, INCREMENT BY 1), "TITLE" VARCHAR(150), "COM" LONG VARCHAR, "COVER" VARCHAR(150) ); But this auto increment is not properly detected with Reverse Engineering. I get a map file with this : <id name="dvdId" type="int"> <column name="DVD_ID" /> <generator class="assigned" /> </id> i've looked on google and on this site ... foud some stuf but i'm still stuck.. i've tried to add insert="false" update="false" on the map file but i get back : Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "insert" must be declared for element type "id". The null value semantics of a component are ad hoc. When reloading the containing object, NHibernate will assume that if all component columns are null, then the entire component is null.   Hey, i get a QString which represents a directory from a QLineEdit. Now i want to check wether a certain file exists in this directory. But if i try this with os.path.exists and os.path.join and get in trouble when german umlauts occur in the directory path: #the direcory coming from the user input in the QLineEdit #i take this QString to the local 8-Bit encoding and then make #a string from it target_dir = str(lineEdit.text().toLocal8Bit()) #the file name that should be checked for file_name = 'some-name.txt' #this fails with a UnicodeDecodeError when a umlaut occurs in target_dir os.path.exists(os.path.join(target_dir, file_name)) How would you check if the file exists, when you might encounter german umlauts?

  I have two tables in a MySQL database, Locations and Tags, and a third table LocationsTagsAssoc which associates the two tables and treats them as a many-to-many relationship. Table structure is as follows: Locations --------- ID int (Primary Key) Name varchar(128) LocationsTagsAssoc ------------------ ID int (Primary Key) LocationID int (Foreign Key) TagID int (Foreign Key) Tags ---- ID int (Primary Key) Name varchar(128) So each location can be tagged with multiple tagwords, and each tagword can be tagged to multiple locations. What I want to do is select only Locations which are tagged with all of the tag names supplied. For example: I want all locations which are tagged with both "trees" and "swings". Location "Park" should be selected, but location "Forest" should not. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

• Tableview with sections managed by fetched results controller

  Hi, I'm quite new to CoreData and need help with one issue. I have tableview which simply lists cities stored in SQLite db. City is defined by "cityId" and "name" attributes. Data are fetched using NSFetchedResultsController and everything works fine except that I can't figure out how to make FetchedResultsController to group cities by first letter of city names. When I supply "name" for sectionNameKeyPath argument of initWithFetchRequest:managedObjectContext:sectionNameKeyPath:cacheName: method, it creates section for each city, which is obviously something I don't want. I can't figure out how to create an expression which would make it work in way I need. thanks for any tips and/or advices on this Matthes

• CSS Hidden DIV Form Submit

  Using CSS, when a link is clicked it brings up a hidden DIV that contains a form. The user will then enter information and then submit the form. I'd like the hidden DIV to remain visisble, and a 'success message' to be displayed after submission. Then the user will have the option of closing the DIV. I can't get it to work without reloading the page, which causes the DIV to become hidden again.
