• Website inheritance of ownership question

  I paid for a web site for my motel business, then due to my landlord actions I was placed in a position to file for bankrupcy. I asked my IT manager and web developer to close down the web site for the business. He has since then sold my web site to the new owners. I took all the photos myself and I am in at least 4 of the photos on the site. There are no changes to the site as I left it and it now states that it is under the copyright on the new owners? I am not sure what I should do as this happen 10 months ago and I have just found this out. Thank you for your help, I am in Australia.

• Why Nodes.js being that "unique"?

  Recently years there are lots of praise to Nodes.js. I am not a developer that have much exposure on network application. From my bare understanding of Nodes.js, its strength is: We are having only on thread handling multiple connections, providing a event-based architecture. However, for example in Java, what if I am having only one thread, using NIO/AIO (which is non-blocking APIs from my bare understanding), and handle multiple connections using that thread, and I provide an event-based architecture to implement the data handling logic (shouldn't be that difficult by providing some callback etc) ? Given JVM being a even more mature VM than V8 (I expect it run faster too), and event-based handling architecture seems not something difficult to create. I am not sure why Nodes.js is attracting so much attention. Did I miss some important points?

• can't install libcairo2-dev under ubuntu 12.04

  I'm trying to install libcairo2-dev package on ubuntu 12.04. The error message is as follows: requires: libcairo2 (= 1.10.2-6.1ubuntu2) but 1.10.2-6.1ubuntu3 is about to be installed requires: libcairo-gobject2 (= 1.10.2-6.1ubuntu2) but 1.10.2-6.1ubuntu3 is about to be installed requires: libglib2.0-dev but it won't be installed Don't really know what to do next, tried googling but with no luck :(

• Toshiba A105 s4244 microphone doesn't work

  I have installed ubuntu on my toshiba laptop and whenever I connect a microphone it doesn't detect any sounds at all. Everything worked well under xp. When I try sound recorder to record sounds it registers no sounds. The only thing that actually gets recorded is a sound when I remove or connect the microphone in its socket(a kind of a "click"). No its NOT muted I checked a million times. Thanks a lot!

• update-grub is setting a wrong linux root partition

  Initially, Ubuntu was installed on another partition (sda5 or sda4). At some point I did manually move the root partition to sda2. Now, the problem is that whenever a new kernel is installed, the automatic regeneration of the menu.lst is using the OLD Linux partition. So I have to manually change in menu.lst the lines : root (hd0,5) into root (hd0,1) How can I configure update-grub to automatically generate menu.lst with the current Linux root partition? I assume that the (hd0,5) was written somewhere at installation, but I couldn't find it.

• Do I create new site or add to existing site?

  Hi, Suppose, as an example, I have a website with the address, www.cool-gifts.com and I'm getting regular sales and its a worthwhile site, but no great fireworks. After research I find that there is a great market for '2nd hand stuff' and I'd like to serve that market. Would it be best to add '2nd hand stuff' as an additional category of gifts in my existing site....or, since the 2nd hand stuff is a market in itself, would I be better off investing time and energy bringing up a whole new site (www.used-stuff.com)? If I had employees and financial resources, it probably would be a no-brainer...start a new site. But, what if you are a small guy, with limited resources? So...new site....or add to existing site?

• Remove Duplicate Second Unity Launcher on Dual Screen

  See attached image. On my dual screen display I have a Unity Launcher on the left hand screen and also on the right hand screen. Both work perfectly fine. I don't want two Unity Launchers. Every time I move my house to the right hand side it gets slowed down over the right launcher hampering my productivity. I have an Nvidia card with the Nvidia driver and I am using TwinView. Could somebody please tell me how to remove this extra duplicated launcher?

• When to start thinking about scalability?

  I'm having a funny but also terrible problem. I'm about to launch a new (iPhone) app. It's a turn-based multiplayer game running on my own custom backend. But I'm afraid to launch. For some reason, I think it might become something big and that its popularity will kill my poor lonely single server + MySQL database. On one hand I'm thinking that if it's growing, I'd better be prepared and have a scalable infrastructure already in place. On the other hand I just feel like getting it out into the world and see what happens. I often read stuff like "premature optimization is the root of all evil" or people saying that you should just build your killer game now, with the tools at hand, and worry about other stuff like scalability later. I'd love to hear some opinions on this from experts or people with experience with this. Thanks!

• What is the proper way to create a recursive entity in the Entity Framework?

  I'm currently using VS 2010 RC, and I'm trying to create a model that contains a recursive self-referencing entity. Currently when I import the entity from the model I get an error indicating that the parent property cannot be part of the association because it's set to 'Computed' or 'Identity', though I'm not sure why it does it that way. I've been hand-editing the file to get around that error, but then the model simply doesn't work. What is the proper way to get recursive entities to work in the Entity Framework. How would I write a method which takes a MessageBoxImage type, and return a CustomMessageBoxImage type which maps to the MessageBoxImage type, as I can't include both MessageBoxImage.Error and MessageBoxImage.Hand in the same switch statement?

• Cursor on Path doesn't appear in SilverLight

  I am trying to draw a circle with a glass effect using Alpha. I am successful in creating that by using the below XAML. The cursor changes to Hand for the Ellipses, but it doesn't affect Path. Basically, I want to show "hand" cursor wherever the mouse appears over the circle. I hope this is not a known issue and I am missing something small. • Linq DateTime expressions wont compare if only one is nullable

  I have been getting the following exception: The binary operator GreaterThanOrEqual is not defined for the types 'System.Nullable`1[System.DateTime]' and 'System.DateTime'. I am getting the left hand expression from a class property which is a nullable datetime variable and my right hand side is using Expression.Constant(new Nullable<DateTime>(DateTime.Now)) However I still get the above exception despite explicitly setting the right hand expression to a nullable type

I do not find a compelling reason for switching to Mocking frameworks from hand written stubs. • Emulating Button Press Using Kinect/SimpleOpenNI + Processing Depth

  I am using Kinect with Simple OpenNI and Processing, and I was trying to use the Z position of a hand to emulate a button press. So far when I try it using one hand it works really well, however, when I try to get it to work with a second hand, only one of the hands work. (I know it can be more efficient by moving everything except the fill out of the if statements, but I kept those in there just in case I want to change the sizes or something.) irz and ilz are the initial Z positions of the hands when they are first recognized by onCreateHands and rz and lz are the current Z positions. As of now, the code works fine with one hand, but the other hand will either stay pressed or unpressed. If i comment one of the sections out, it works fine as well. if (rz - irz > 0) { pushStyle(); fill(60); ellipse(rx, ry, 10, 10); popStyle(); rpressed = true; } else { pushStyle(); noFill(); ellipse(rx, ry, 10, 10); popStyle(); rpressed = false; } if (lz - ilz > 0) { pushStyle(); fill(60); ellipse(lx, ly, 10, 10); popStyle(); lpressed = true; } else { pushStyle(); noFill(); ellipse(lx, ly, 10, 10); popStyle(); lpressed = false; } I tried outputting the values of rz - irz and lz - ilz and the numbers range from small negative values to small positive values (around -8 to 8) for lz - ilz. But rz - irz outputs numbers from around 8-30 depending on each time I run it and is never consistent. Also, when I comment out the code for the lz-ilz, the values for rz-irz look just fine and it operates as intended. Is there a reason tracking both Z positions throws off one hand? And is there a way to get it to work? Thanks!

  Hy guys, I've a problem with IExplorer, Chrome, Safari etc.. • Internal loop only runs once, containing loop runs endlessly

  noob question I'm afraid. I have a loop that runs and rotates the hand of a clock and an internal loop that checks the angle of the hand if it is 90, 180, 270 and 360. On these 4 angles the corresponding div is displayed and its siblings removed. The hand loops and loops eternally, which is what I want, but the angle check only runs the loop once through the whole 360. As the hand passes through the angles it is correctly displaying and removing divs but is doesn't continue after the first revolution of the clock. I've obviously messed up somewhere and there is bound to be a more efficient way of doing all this. I am using jQueryRotate.js for my rotations. • PostgreSQL: keep a certain number of records in a table

  Hello, I have an SQL-table holding the last hands received by a player in card game. The hand is represented by an integer (32 bits == 32 cards): create table pref_hand ( id varchar(32) references pref_users, hand integer not NULL check (hand > 0), stamp timestamp default current_timestamp ); As the players are playing constantly and that data isn't important (just a gimmick to be displayed at player profile pages) and I don't want my database to grow too quickly, I'd like to keep only up to 10 records per player id. So I'm trying to declare this PL/PgSQL procedure: create or replace function pref_update_game(_id varchar, _hand integer) returns void as $BODY$ begin delete from pref_hand offset 10 where id=_id order by stamp; insert into pref_hand (id, hand) values (_id, _hand); end; $BODY$ language plpgsql; but unfortunately this fails with: ERROR: syntax error at or near "offset" because delete doesn't support offset.
