  I have a web application that needs to support custom domains, in that regard I have set-up the following name based virtual server: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName example.com ServerAlias * *.example.com www.example.com example.com RailsEnv production RackEnv production DocumentRoot /srv/www/example/current/public <Directory /srv/www/example/current/public> AllowOverride all Options -MultiViews FollowSymLinks </Directory> ErrorLog /srv/www/example/log/error.log TransferLog /srv/www/example/log/access.log </VirtualHost> Notice the * as the server alias? that catches all the domains on that server. However, I have other sites on this server which I want to be excluded from this list. It is more economical for me to have a list of excluded domains than manually set every domain a user may register with at this service as a serverAlias... Perhaps this is not the best way to go, but I'm looking for help, in the best (relatively simple) way to set up a web-app that may catch any domains, while allowing other specific domains to be routed to different apps.   This is embarrassing; I used the usermod command to add myself to the disk group. However I forgot to use the append option! so I'm not a member of any of the groups that I was originally, now terminal says that I'm not even a sudoer (How rude!). So the question is: What are the original groups that a normal Administrator type of user is in? BTW, I am using Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE). Any help is appreciated.

  I've had Mac OS X Lion installed on a mid-2011 iMac. I've erased the main partition and when I try to repair OS installation it connects to the Internet and says that it can't continue and I should contact Apple Support. I don't have original CD which should've come with an iMac. How can I install at least some version of OS X? Update: I've downloaded what looks like an installation app for Mac OS X Lion with a 4.6Gb InstallESD.dmg file but can't open it on Windows. I've tried PowerISO and MagicISO to no effect. Is it possible to create Mac OS installation media on Windows?

• Original sender is not correctly identified when spam is forwarded

  I have a forwarding rule with Postfix that forwards all messages to my main email address. When a spam message is sent to one of my emails, it is forwarded but the sender is shown as being the forwarding domain, not the spammer's domain. Real example: mywebsite.com is hosted on Linode. [email protected] sends an email to [email protected] the mail is forwarded to [email protected] my email hosting (anotherwebsite.com) sees it's spam and sends a message to [email protected] and Linode reports a TOS violation. I have modified my postfix settings so I now use RBL, but if a message goes through, it may happen again. How can I prevent this to happen again? Is there some settings to change on Postfix so the original sender is correctly identified? Thanks Stephan

  I would like to set all virtualhosts on my server down for maintenance for some time. The temporary page should contain something like sorry, the page www.xxx.com is down for maintenance. you can see the cached version here: Then the trick: the user should then see the cached page from a cache like googlecache or similar for the requested page as long as the server is down. This would show the correct content on pages, that are static anyway and give the visitor the needed content in many cases, while I can shut down mysql and other services that would usually be needed to show that pages. How can I set a global page on all virtualhosts, that parses the original requested URL through PHP?

• Does Cisco anyconnect replace original network connection session?

  When using Cisco anyconnect VPN, it seems the existing network connection is still going through old connection session (Is there any way to find out)? The reason is because when using Cisco VPN client connect to gateway, usually the Messenger Live, Skype will be disconnected and requires to reconnect. But using anyconnect doesn't need to reconnect. So I am guessing if those old sessions still go through original network connection. Which means, both connection is existing at the same time. Take my case for example: connection 1: wireless NIC - cable modem - my cable ISP - internet connection 2: anyconnect - wireless NIC - cable modem - my cable ISP - VPN gateway - internet Am I correct? Is there any way to check this? Thanks.

  I have 2 computers with totally same Debian, config, apps and other stuff. One at work and another at home. It's inconvenient to maintain the same configuration on these stations - upgrading OS, sync configuration, etc. Is there the way to use my home station as "host", and such a "terminal" at work? As if i have one HDD on 2 computers, but must use they own resources like an videocard and another. Looks like i need some remote tool as VNC, but this is no sessional event, I need to use "terminal" comp like original all of the time.

• Maximum filename length shorter in search windows than same file in original folder

  Why can a mp3 file-name be 165 characters long in its original folder, but when searching that folder, the search results window only allows editing of the first 130 characters of that same mp3 filename? This did not happen in XP! The problem occurs with both local and external drives. The act of searching doesn't somehow add to the file-name's path does it? I need to edit filenames in the search window (as I did with XP successfully) but now the search window results suddenly cannot be edited.

  Hi all, Here is my problem, I have a class which have a object who throw an event and in this event I throw a custom event from my class. But unfortunately the original object throw the event from another thread and so my event is also throw on another thread. This cause a exception when my custom event try to access from controls. Solving this will solve several problems for me (as I can reapply this knowledge to several extant, similar problems), but luckily I have a very specific, concise problem to describe. Enough preamble. Our hosting partner is setting up VPN access for us and is connecting it to our LDAP server. They are using Cisco VPN, the docs on setting this up are here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00808c3c45.shtml#maintask1 Specifically, note the screenshot in (5), under "ASDM" Now, I do NOT want to provide access to all of our users. I only want to provide access to our IT group. But I do not see a configuration option for LDAP groups on that web reference for the Cisco VPN. We are using: OpenLDAP 2.4 Static groups (i.e. "Group has the following members...") Single user OU, "ou=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com" Is it possible to provide an alias of some kind in OpenLDAP that creates another OU, "itusers", say, and lets me alias the members of that OU somehow? Something like: "cn=Jeff Silverman,ou=itusers,dc=mycompany,dc=com" is an alias for "cn=Jeff Silverman,ou=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com" And is NOT a separate, unique user account. Alternatively, should I just create a separate OU and manage it separately? It is a pain, but only 12-15 users will have to be managed that way, with two separate user accounts. But I hate this option - messy, unmanageable, unscalable. You know what I mean. I am open to any options. I've searched and read all over but I can't quite find an directly analagous example. I can't possibly be the only one who's had this problem! Thanks!

• Nginx alias or rewrite for Horde Groupware ActiveSync URL does not process the rpc.php file

  I'm trying to setup a Horde groupware with Nginx. The webinterface works but I do not get the ActiveSync specific URL to work. The Horde Wiki explains how to use it with an Apache Webserver here. My problem is, that I setup a rewrite (tried an alias too) to serve the location /horde/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync via the /horde/rpc.php script. But with my current configuration nginx does the rewrite and returns a 200 status code. But it looks like that the php file is not executed. If I go to /horde/rpc.php directly it opens up the login dialog. So this seems to work correct. Firstly I was googling about the problem but could not find a working solution. So now I would like to ask you. The configuration should allow to access the ActiveSync part via the URL /horde/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync. The horde webinterface is already accessible via /horde. • How to "smart resize" a displayed image to original aspect ratio

  I have an application in which end-users can size and position images in a designer. Since the spec calls for the image to be "stretched" to the containing control, the end user can end up with an awkwardly stretched image. To help the user with image sizing I am thinking of implementing a smart resizer function which would allow the the user to easily fix the aspect ratio of the picture so that it no longer appears stretched. The quick way to solve this is to actually provide two options: 1) scale from width 2) scale from height. The user chooses the method and the algorithm adjusts the size of the picture by using the original aspect ratio. For example: A picture is displayed as 200x200 on the designer but the original image is 1024x768 pixels. The user chooses "Smart Size from width" and the new size becomes ~200x150 since the original aspect ratio is ~1.333 That's OK, but how could I make the algorithm smarter and not bother the user by asking which dimension the recalculation should be based on?

• Drupal path alias not found

  Got a Drupal6 install, and I'm using a webform to collect some data. The webform has a path alias set on the edit page as 'contact_us'. The issue that I can't figure out (and hard to reproduce) is from time to time, some users end up on the page 'node/'. Seems like that is a possible failure trying to find the alias or system path. Any one seen this before? Any suggestions on some places to look or to why this is happening? Regards

  I'm trying to run a simple query with $this->db in Kohana, but am running into some syntax issues when I try to use an alias for a table within my query: $result = $this->db ->select("ci.chapter_id, ci.book_id, ci.chapter_heading, ci.chapter_number") ->from("chapter_info ci") ->where(array("ci.chapter_number" => $chapter, "ci.book_id" => $book)) ->get(); It seems to me that this should work just fine. I'm stating that "chapter_info" ought to be known as "ci," yet this isn't taking for some reason. The error is pretty straight-forward: There was an SQL error: Table 'gb_data.chapter_info ci' doesn't exist - SELECT `ci`.`chapter_id`, `ci`.`book_id`, `ci`.`chapter_heading`, `ci`.`chapter_number` FROM (`chapter_info ci`) WHERE `ci`.`chapter_number` = 1 AND `ci`.`book_id` = 1 If I use the full table name, rather than an alias, I get the expected results without error. This requires me to write much more verbose queries, which isn't ideal. Is there some way to use shorter names for tables within Kohana's query-builder?

  I have a website the contact form has been failing silently for two weeks (Wordpress + Contact form 7). Apparently updating to Contact Form 7 made the assigned email to fail [email protected], I also tested with [email protected] and it also failed until I tried with gmail and it finally worked. Apparently @telefonica.net and @me.com domains are not working with this version of the plugin, but I have to investigate the cause. I found the logs of the lost emails, but I would like to know If I can recover the sender or the content of the original messages. • Reversing the effects of mkimage to get an original gzipped file back

  Hello, We develop for a specific embedded device at our company, and part of that is making initial root disks that get loaded onto the devices over ethernet via netboot. We've experienced some problems, and as a result, the original folder with the contents of the initial root disks was lost along with its backups, but we do still have the initrd images, that have been created by gzipping the contents of a ramdisk that's been mounted as a local loop device, and then running mkimage on the gzipped file. Is there any way to undo the effects of mkimage and obtain the original gzipped content so that we can recover the original images ?

• Connecting to Google app email servers in Python to send from an alias

  I'm looking to send many emails via Python and would like to connect to Google's email servers to send it from my company email address (it's for work). I've got working code for sending the email through the old company email ([email protected]) which is our login, but can't figure out how to send it through the alias ([email protected]) we use frequently. Long story short, logging in with my regular Google Apps account won't do and I need to sign in with an alias (nickname) instead. Alternatively, I can sign with the regular account ([email protected]) but send via a different email ([email protected]). Working in python and pretty new to programming, but am a good listener! (It's like this question: Google Apps - Send email from a nickname but in Python).

• Visual Studio 2010: Publish minified javascript files instead of the original ones

  I have a Scripts folder, that includes all the .js files used in the project. Using the Ajax Minifier task, I generate .min.js files for each one. Depending on whether the application is running in debug or release mode, I include the original .js file, or the minified one. The Scripts folder looks like this: Scripts/script1.js Scripts/script1.min.js // Outside the project, generated automatically on build Scripts/script2.js Scripts/script2.min.js // Outside the project, generated automatically on build The .min.js files are outside the project (although in the same folder as the original files), and they are not copied into the destination folder when we publish the project. I have no experience whatsoever using build tasks (well, apart from including the minifier task), so I would appreciate if anyone could advise me as to which would be the correct way to: Copy the .min.js files to the destination folder when I publish the app from Visual Studio. Delete / Not copy the original js files (this is not vital, but I'd rather not copy files that will not be used in the app). Thanks,
