  I run a program called Registry Mechanic, every night. Every single time, it picks up like 8 Microsoft Antimalware entries, which it identifies as the highest kind of security threats. I feel like Registry Mechanic is a good software--it was recommended to me at #computerhelp on irc.undernet.org, a long time ago, by an op that never steered me wrong, otherwise--, so I feel like I should give the issue due attention. The entries are: 4x "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft Antimalware" and 4x "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft Antimalware\setup\RememberedProperties"

  Looking to install php on a 08 box already holding iis/sql box. I've tried the webinstaller a couple times but the installer locks before completion or managing to echo any sort of error message. Before hunting down a manual install how-to i wonder if the box is trying to tell me something i should be paying attention to. PHP running alongside IIS _must be supported or one would expect that error message to be kinda high on the list. any gochas to beware of? thx

  I have just installed pidgin from the source code that i downloaded from pidgin site, it compile correctly with using below commands : ./configure --disable-gtkspell ; make ; make install but, when i try to start pidgin from terminal, occurres an error :? pidgin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libfarstream-0.1.so.0: undefined symbol: g_key_file_free how can i solve this problem ? • Cannot clear away BitDefender Internet Security system tray message

  I have BitDefender IS 2008 installed on my PC. In the last few days I have noticed the taskbar icon grumbling 1 issue requires your attention The Real-Time File Scanning is disabled and no amount of clicking "Fix" solved this issue.   Using nice merely gives a "guideline" to the OS, not a hard requirement of priority (ie, if nothing else is begging for attention a nice level of 19 will utilize the full CPU). Is there a way to absolutely cap a process to, say, no more than 10% of the CPU?

  When I started using git I just did a git init and started calling add and commit. Now I am starting to pay attention and I can see that my commits are showing up as cowens@localmachine, rather than the address I want. • Is it safe to swap SATA ports during hibernation?

  I hibernated my Windows 7 desktop PC, replaced the SATA cables of my 2 hard drives (without paying attention to which ports they were connected), and resumed the system. Everything appeared normal and it entered the desktop with all the applications previously open before hibernation. However, after a few seconds, the screen became frozen and the system no longer responded to anything (mouse/keyboard/network ping). Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether changing SATA ports of the HDDs during hibernation would crash a Windows 7 system?

• Coming up with manageable game ideas as a hobbyist game developer

  I'm trying to come up with ideas for games to develop - as per the advice on this question I've started jotting down and brainstorming my ideas as I get them, and it has worked relatively well - I now have a growing collection of ideas that I think are relatively original. The trouble is that I'm a solo hobbyist developer so my time is limited (and I have short attention span!) I've decided to set myself a limit of 1 working week (i.e. 35-40 hours) to develop / prototype my game, but all of the ideas that really spark my imagination are far too complex to be achievable in that sort of time (e.g. RTS or RPG style gameplay), and none of my simpler ideas really strike me as being that good (and whenever I get a flash of inspiration I invariably end up making things more complicated!) Am I being too picky - should I just take one of my simpler ideas and have a go?

Feedback has been quite good and constructive, and I am very motivated to continue my work. • Finding a problem in some task [closed]

  Recently I competed in nation wide programming contest finals. Not unexpectedly all problems were algorithmic. I lost (40 points out of 600. Winner got ~300). I know why I lost very well - I don't know how to find actual problem in those obfuscated tasks which are life-blood of every competition. I think that being self-taught and not well versed in algorithms got me too. As side effect of learning things myself I know how to search for information, however all I could find are couple questions about learning algorithms. For now I put Python Algorithms: Mastering Basic Algorithms in the Python Language and Analysis of Algorithms which I found in those questions to my "to read" list. That leaves my first problem of not knowing how to find a problem unsolved. Will that ability come with learning algorithms? Or does it need some special attention? Any suggestions are welcomed.
