• Java environmental variable woes, maven also

  So I re-installed java in a directory that doesn't have any spaces in it, as I was having issues with it before. Java JDK is installed in: E:\downloads\java\jdk I created a User variable: JAVA_HOME E:\downloads\java\jdk And my Path looks like: %JAVA_HOME%\bin;%M2%; Now opening a NEW cmd prompt: c:\java 'java' is not recognized... but echoing works: c:\echo %JAVA_HOME% E:\downloads\java\jdk and so does this: c:\%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java -version java version "1.6.0_17" I am trying to get this to work, so I can then get maven to work as maven is having the same type of issues (I created M2_HOME and M2 and none work). What exactly am I doing wrong? I am having the exact same issue on my laptop also, both are running windows 7. I must be missing something!

  I am trying to set the Text property of a drop down list option like this: <asp:ListItem Value="AB" Text='<%= Resources.Get("USA") %>'></asp:ListItem> But it isn't working, instead the Text value is literally <%= Resources.Get("USA") %> and not the string "USA". i.e. it is not being interpreted as code.   An XML file is being posted to a url that my spring mvc is responding to. In .NET, I could do this: request.Form[0] request.Form["abc"] or request.QueryString[0] request.QueryString["some_key"] Now with spring/servlets it seems I can only do this: request.getParameter("some_key") or get all the names or values. When someone is posting a file to a url, using http post, won't this be just a single request parameter then? Can I get the parameter using index with servlets?

  I know in asp.net 1.0 the grid display controls would pull all the data in, and then provide paging but the paging was done in memory. Are there any smarter controls that provide paging where they only pull the data relevent to current page being displayed? ie. select 10 rows for the current page, instead of doing a select of ALL the rows in the table.

  I want to create events for my classes. Say I create a CMS application that has a Article object. I create events like: OnEdit OnCreate OnDelete PreCreate PreDelete Now I want someone to be able to hook into these events, and add their custom functionality at each event they wish. I don't want them touching the core source code, so they would have to wire these custom methods to fire somewhere else. I'm new to both python and django so please be as detailed as possible if you can.
