  • Is there a way in PHP to keep a file open and process each line and subsequent lines?

    I want to write a php script that keeps the apache_log file open and "listen" to the log and deal with each log entry as it happens. I'm thinking that I need to open a file, get the number of lines, then do this again in a loop - and when the size is different, read the new lines and process them. Am I barking up the wrong tree, or is there a silly easy solution that I have missed? Chris

  • IIS Manager IIS6 Rights Management on Windows Server 2003

    We are using a dedicated hosting provider to host several of our public websites. There are two development teams/divisions within our company who each maintain public websites on these same servers. Is there a way through ACLs or some sort of rights management (e.g. individual logins) that I would only be able to see and maintain only my public sites and the other development team could only see and maintain their sites?   • Loading one page inside another

    User 'Citizen' provided an answer to the iframe situation with the ajax script from dynamic drive. As I predicted it although it loads one page inside another it does not work with the calculation scripts, collapsible panels, validation form. All of it simply not working. I have set up a test page that has the exact same HEAD section as the page that is loaded inside it, so it is not s problem of script location. Take a look and see if you can tell me what is going on. Baring in mind this is just a test page. On the test page the entire page is loaded from another and as you can see all the collapsible panels are open, all calculations except the duration are not working because another file that is loaded by ajax on the original page is not loading in this one, the accordion menu us not working and the validation form is not validating. It is as if all script triggers have been removed and left behind but like I said the HEAD section of the parent page contains all of the scripts as well.     Hi, I have to built dynamically equations like following: x + x/3 + (x/3)/4 + (x/3/4)/2 = 50 Now I would like to evaluate this equation and get x. The equation is built dynamically. x is the leaf node in a taxonomy, the other 3 nodes are the super concepts. The divisor represents the number of children of the child nodes.   • How do i jump to a breakpoint within gdb?

I'm new to gdb and I tried out the following: I set a breakpoint, which worked fine actually, but is there any possibility to jump immediately to that breakpoint without using "next" or "step". Using "next" or "step" takes really long to get to the final breakpoint. I wasn't able to find a faster way. Any help is preciated! regards chris smullian

  • Android - Buffering Lag with VideoView

    I am using VideoView to display a video in my app. The problem is that, once the layout gets created there is lag of almost 10-30 seconds before which the video starts to play. I can see in LogCat that the video is buffering during the lag. Is there a way I can minimize this lag, or tell MediaPlayer to play the video sooner? Thanks Chris

  • Android browse SQLite database on phone

    How can I browse the SQLite database that I am creating in my app on my Android myTouch phone? When I log in through adb shell, sqlite3 gives me a permission denied. Is there another way to check if my database and tables are actually being created, and if rows are being inserted? I am not able to use the emulator, since it doesn't play videos etc. very well that is the main feature of my app, so I can only test on phone. Thanks Chris

  • Using JUnit as an acceptance test framework

    OK, so I work for a company who has openly adopted agile practices for development in recent years. Our unit tests and code quality are improving. One area we still are working on is to find what works best for us in the automated acceptance test arena. We want to take our well formed user stories and use these to drive the code in a test driven manner. This will also give us acceptance level tests for each user story which we can then automate. To date, we've tried Fit, Fitnesse and Selenium. Each have their advantages, but we've also had real issues with them as well. With Fit and Fitnesse, we can't help but feel they overcomplicate things and we've had many technical issues using them. The business haven't fully bought in these tools and aren't particularly keen on maintaining the scripts all the time (and aren't big fans of the table style). Selenium is really good, but slow and relies on real time data and resources. One approach we are now considering is the use of the JUnit framework to provide similiar functionality. Rather than testing just a small unit of work using JUnit, why not use it to write a test (using the JUnit framework) to cover an acceptance level swath of the application? I.e. take a new story ("As a user I would like to see basic details of my policy...") and write a test in JUnit which starts executing application code at the point of entry for the policy details link but covers all code and logic down to the stubbed data access layer and back to the point of forwarding to the next page in the application, asserting on what data the user should see on that page. This seems to me to have the following advantages: Simplicity (no additional frameworks required) Zero effort to integrate with our Continuous Integration build server (since it already handles our JUnit tests) Full skillset already present in the team (its just a JUnit test after all) And the downsides being: Less customer involvement (though they are heavily involved in writing the user stories in the first place from which the acceptance tests will be written) Perhaps more difficult to understand (or make understood) the user story and acceptance criteria in a JUnit class verses a freetext specification ala Fit or Fitnesse So, my question is really, have you ever tried this method? Ever considered it? What are your thoughts? What do you like and dislike about this approach? Finally, please only mention alternative frameworks if you can say why you like or dislike them more than this approach.

    Hi, I've moved my web application to a new server, when it calls the render method on the reporting services 2008 web service it brings back the error "Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. So, for example, the same thread I use to create my layout is used to run the Runnable?   • Delete or comment out non-working JUnit tests?

    I'm currently building a CI build script for a legacy application. There are sporadic JUnit tests available and I will be integrating a JUnit execution of all tests into the CI build. However, I'm wondering what to do with the 100'ish failures I'm encountering in the non-maintained JUnit tests. Do I: 1) Comment them out as they appear to have reasonable, if unmaintained, business logic in them in the hopes that someone eventually uncomments them and fixes them 2) Delete them as its unlikely that anyone will fix them and the commented out code will only be ignored or be clutter for evermore 3) Track down those who have left this mess in my hands and whack them over the heads with the printouts of the code (which due to long-method smell will be sufficently suited to the task) while preaching the benefits of a well maintained and unit tested code base

  • Problems with JQuery's Droppable Tolerance 'fit' feature when using the same size divs

    Hi I'm just wondering if anybody else can manage to get the tolerance:'fit' option to work when using the 'droppable' feature in jQuery's UI? I want to call a function only when the draggable div is dropped perfectly onto a droppable div. Both divs are the same size and I'm using snapMode:outer to help the end user. I simply cannot get it to work with 'fit'. Works perfectly with 'intersect'. Would really appreciate some help. Thanks Chris
