• Winforms for Mono on Mac, Linux and PC (Redux)

  (I asked this question in another way, and got some interesting responses but I'm not too convinced.) Is Mono's GtkSharp truly cross-platform? It seems to be Gnome based... how can that work with PC and Mac? Can someone give me examples of a working Mac/PC/Linux app that is written with a single codebase in Microsoft .Net?

• Merging in git: via git-svn, says Already Up-to-date, but git-diff says there are differences

  I'm using git-svn to work with a codebase and I need to merge changes in trunk to my branch. I have both branches fetched in git, and when I run git diff trunk while in my branch, I can see all the changes. When I run git merge heads/trunk, however, I get a message "Already up-to-date". It's clearly not up to date. What am I doing wrong?

• ASP.NET application developed in 32 bit environment not working in 64 bit environment

  We have developed an ASP.NET website on a Windows 7 - 32 bit platform using Visual Studio 2008. This website is being hosted at a hosting company where we share a server with hundreds of other ASP.NET websites. We are in the process of changing our hosting to a dedicated Windows 2008 - 64 bit server. We have installed Visual Studio on this new server in order to debug our application. If we try to start the application on this new server using Visual Studios 2008's own web server (not IIS 7) we get the error below. We have tried to compile the application in both 32 as well as 64 bit mode. We also tried to compile to "Any CPU". But nothing helps. We also tried running Visual Studio as an administrator but without success. We get the following error: Server Error in '/' Application. The specified module could not be found.   Hi folks, Is it possible to step through the official ASP.NET MVC 2 code via using the Symbol Server thingy in visual studio 2010? I know I can download the full open source MVC code from codeplex, build it and then get my code to reference THAT codebase dll's... But i'm wondering if this could be achieved by using the Symbol Server stuff instead? If so, can someone go through some steps please, about how to achieve this?

  Actually, i am facing a codebase where developpers decided to use 'AND' and 'OR' instead of '&&' and '||'. I know that there is difference in operators precedence (&& goes before 'and'), but with given framework (prestashop to be precise) is clearly not a reason. So, my question: which version are you using? Is 'and' more readable than '&&'? || there is ~ difference?

Is there a shorter way to do this? It's important to note that the "style" attribute overrides any styles set by a class added/defined in the "class" attribute.

  hi there, I find the LOC (lines of code) metric a simple but nice metric to get an overview of software codebase complexity (see also blog-entry 'implications of lines-of-code'). I wondered how many of you out there are using this metric as a centric part for retrospective (for removing unused functionality or dead code). I think creating awareness that more lines-of-code mean more complexity in maintenance and extension is valuable.

  I've created a Zend_Application using the zf tool that's bundled with Zend Framework (1.96, if that matters) What at the rules for formatting action names and how those action names get translated into into URL paths, and where in the Framework codebase does this happen? I ask because I tried to create an action like public function createFooAction() { } and it wouldn't load with a URL like http://example.com/controller/createFoo BUT, the following did work public function createfooAction() { } http://example.com/controller/createfoo I also know non-alphanumeric characters get treated differently, and I'd like to know the base rules I'm dealing with.

  For a grails application, I need to find a list of objects whose "attr" is one in a dynamic list of strings. The actual HQL query is more complex, but the bit I need help with is this: def result = MyObject.executeQuery("select o from MyObject as o where o.attr in :list", [list: aListOfStrings]) This is obviously not the right syntax, Grails throws it back at me as an "unexpected token", being the :list parameter. Is this possible in HQL? I don't particularly want to use Criteria in this part of the codebase.

I also tried: string path = System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory(); But it throws an “NotSupportedException”. Is there any way to get a path without .exe at the end?
