  • WIF-less claim extraction from ACS: JWT

    - by Elton Stoneman
ACS support for JWT still shows as "beta", but it meets the spec and it works nicely, so it's becoming the preferred option as SWT is losing favour. (Note that currently ACS doesn’t support JWT encryption, if you want encrypted tokens you need to go SAML). In my last post I covered pulling claims from an ACS token without WIF, using the SWT format. The JWT format is a little more complex, but you can still inspect claims just with string manipulation. The values are then in JSON; the header contains the token type and the hashing algorithm: "{"typ":"JWT","alg":"HS256"}" The payload contains the same data as in the SWT, but JSON rather than querystring format: {"aud":"http://localhost/x.y.z" "iss":"https://adfstest-bhw.accesscontrol.windows.net/" "nbf":1346398795 "exp":1346404795 "http://schemas.microsoft.com/ws/2008/06/identity/claims/authenticationinstant":"2012-08-31T07:39:53.652Z" "http://schemas.microsoft.com/ws/2008/06/identity/claims/authenticationmethod":"http://schemas.microsoft.com/ws/2008/06/identity/authenticationmethod/windows" "http://schemas.microsoft.com/ws/2008/06/identity/claims/windowsaccountname":"xyz" "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/05/identity/claims/emailaddress":"[email protected]" "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/05/identity/claims/upn":"[email protected]" "identityprovider":"http://fs.svc.x.y.z.com/adfs/services/trust"} The signature is in the third part of the token. Unlike SWT which is fixed to HMAC-SHA-256, JWT can support other protocols (the one in use is specified as the "alg" value in the header). How to: Validate an Exchange 2013 identity token contains an implementation of a JWT parser and validator; apart from the custom base-64 decoding part, it’s very similar to SWT extraction. I've wrapped the basic SWT and JWT in a ClaimInspector.aspx page on gitHub here: SWT and JWT claim inspector. You can drop it into any ASP.Net site and set the URL to be your redirect page in ACS. Swap ACS to issue SWT or JWT, and using the same page you can inspect the claims that come out.

  • cxf jaxws with spring on gwt 2.0

    - by Karl
Hi, I'm trying to use an application which uses cxf-jaxws in bean definition: <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:sec="http://cxf.apache.org/configuration/security" xmlns:jaxws="http://cxf.apache.org/jaxws" xmlns:util="http://www.springframework.org/schema/util" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-2.0.xsd http://cxf.apache.org/configuration/security http://cxf.apache.org/schemas/configuration/security.xsd http://cxf.apache.org/jaxws http://cxf.apache.org/schemas/jaxws.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/util http://www.springframework.org/schema/util/spring-util-2.0.xsd"> however in combination with the jetty from gwt 2.0 development shell my context doesn't load and I get this exception: org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoader: Context initialization failed org.springframework.beans.factory.parsing.BeanDefinitionParsingException: Configuration problem: Unable to locate Spring NamespaceHandler for XML schema namespace [http://cxf.apache.org/jaxws] enter code hereOffending resource: class path resource [bean_definition.xml] My project is maven-based and I got cxf-rt-frontend-jaxws which contains the namespacehandler and spring.handlers on the classpath. I added cxf-transports-http-jetty.jar as well. Has anyone experienced this kind of problem and found a solution? It seems to be a classpath issue, added the cxf-rt-frontend-jaxws.jar by hand and it works... Somehow the maven dependency doesn't get added to the classpath. Thanks in advance, karl

  • WCF ReliableSession and Timeouts

    - by user80108
I have a WCF service used mainly for managing documents in a repository. I used the chunking channel sample from MS so that I could upload/download huge files. Now I implemented reliable session with the service and I am seeing some strange behaviors. Here are the timeout values I am using. this.SendTimeout = new TimeSpan(0,10,0); this.OpenTimeout = new TimeSpan(0, 1, 0); this.CloseTimeout = new TimeSpan(0, 1, 0); this.ReceiveTimeout = new TimeSpan(0,10, 0); reliableBe.InactivityTimeout = new TimeSpan(0,2,0); I have the following issues. 1. If the Service is not up & running, the clients are not get disconnected after OpenTimeout. I tried it with my test client. Scenario 1: Without Reliable Session: I get the following exception: Could not connect to net.tcp://localhost:8788/MediaManagementService/ep1. The connection attempt lasted for a time span of 00:00:00.9848790. TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8788 This is the correct behavior as I have given the OpenTimeout as 1 sec. Scenario 2: With ReliableSession: I get the same exception: Could not connect to net.tcp://localhost:8788/MediaManagementService/ep1. The connection attempt lasted for a time span of 00:00:00.9692460. TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8788. But this message comes after around 10 mintes . (I believe after SendTimeout) So here I just have enabled the reliable session and now it looks like the OpenTimeout = SendTimeout for the client. Is this desired behavior? 2: Issue while uploading huge files with ReliableSession: The general rule is that you have to set a huge value for the maxReceivedMessageSize, SendTimeout and ReceiveTimeout. But in the case of Chunking channel, the max received message size doesn't matter as the data is sent in chunks. So I set a huge value for Send and ReceiveTimeout : say 10 hours. Now the upload is going fine, but it has a side effect that, even if the Service is not up, it takes 10 hours to timeout the client connection due to the behavior mentioned in (1). Please let me know your thoughts on this behavior.

  • JAXB XmlID and XmlIDREF annotations (Schema to Java)

    - by kipz
I am exposing a web service using CXF. I am using the @XmlID and @XmlIDREF JAXB annotations to maintain referential integrity of my object graph during marshalling/unmarshalling. The WSDL rightly contains elements with the xs:id and xs:idref attributes to represent this. On the server side, everything works really nicely. Instances of Types annotated with @XmlIDREF are the same instances (as in ==) to those annotated with the @XmlID annotation. However, when I generate a client with WSDLToJava, the references (those annotated with @XmlIDREF) are of type java.lang.Object. Is there any way that I can customise the JAXB bindings such that the types of references are either java.lang.String (to match the ID of the referenced type) or the same as the referenced type itself?

  • How to configure a WCF service to only accept a single client identified by a x509 certificate

    - by Johan Levin
I have a WCF client/service app that relies on secure communication between two machines and I want to use use x509 certificates installed in the certificate store to identify the server and client to each other. I do this by configuring the binding as <security authenticationMode="MutualCertificate"/>. There is only client machine. The server has a certificate issued to server.mydomain.com installed in the Local Computer/Personal store and the client has a certificate issued to client.mydomain.com installed in the same place. In addition to this the server has the client's public certificate in Local Computer/Trusted People and the client has the server's public certificate in Local Computer/Trusted People. Finally the client has been configured to check the server's certificate. I did this using the system.servicemodel/behaviors/endpointBehaviors/clientCredentials/serviceCertificate/defaultCertificate element in the config file. So far so good, this all works. My problem is that I want to specify in the server's config file that only clients that identify themselves with the client.mydomain.com certificate from the Trusted People certificate store are allowed to connect. The correct information is available on the server using the ServiceSecurityContext, but I am looking for a way to specify in app.config that WCF should do this check instead of my having to check the security context from code. Is that possible? Any hints would be appreciated. By the way, my server's config file looks like this so far: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <system.serviceModel> <services> <service name="MyServer.Server" behaviorConfiguration="CertificateBehavior"> <endpoint contract="Contracts.IMyService" binding="customBinding" bindingConfiguration="SecureConfig"> </endpoint> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="http://localhost/SecureWcf"/> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> </services> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="CertificateBehavior"> <serviceCredentials> <serviceCertificate storeLocation="LocalMachine" x509FindType="FindBySubjectName" findValue="server.mydomain.com"/> </serviceCredentials> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <bindings> <customBinding> <binding name="SecureConfig"> <security authenticationMode="MutualCertificate"/> <httpTransport/> </binding> </customBinding> </bindings> </system.serviceModel> </configuration>

  • can a valid xml body have escaped characters for the '<' and '>' around the element names

    - by prmatta
My web service is receiving xml from a third party that looks like this: <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"> <SOAP-ENV:Body> &lt;Foo&gt;bar&lt;/Foo&gt; </SOAP-ENV:Body> </SOAP-ENV:Envelope> My jaxws web service rejects this with a parsing error. Also if I try to validate this xml using soapui it says Body with element-only content type cannot have text element. My question is, is that xml valid? Or is the client supposed to send me something without escaping the < and . Any references to xml standards or rules are appreciated.

  • 401 error when consuming a Web service with HTTP Basic authentication using CXF

I'm trying to consume a remote Web service that uses HTTP basic authentication, using Apache CXF, within a JUnit test. I did have a read of this article and its follow-up, but so far I've had trouble determining how to go about adding the interceptor code without the use of Spring (this is for a JUnit test). How might I go about authenticating against this Web service?

A websphere 6.1 server is running a struts application that seems to be working fine. In the logs, however, I'm seeing the following error message, which is being continually emailed to the support staff. com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebAppErrorReport: SRVE0190E: File not found: {0} at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebAppDispatcherContext.sendError(WebAppDispatcherContext.java:536) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.srt.SRTServletResponse.sendError(SRTServletResponse.java:930) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.extension.DefaultExtensionProcessor.handleRequest(DefaultExtensionProcessor.java:524) at com.ibm.ws.wswebcontainer.extension.DefaultExtensionProcessor.handleRequest(DefaultExtensionProcessor.java:111) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebApp.handleRequest(WebApp.java:3129) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebGroup.handleRequest(WebGroup.java:238) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.WebContainer.handleRequest(WebContainer.java:811) at com.ibm.ws.wswebcontainer.WebContainer.handleRequest(WebContainer.java:1433) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.channel.WCChannelLink.ready(WCChannelLink.java:93) I can narrow down the issue to a single Action and JSP, which are too big to show here, but here's the action definition in struts-config.xml: <action path="/HappyDefaultThing" name="HappyDefaultThingActionForm" type="com.foo.webadministration.action.HappyDefaultThingAction" validate="true" input="/WaAssignDefaultHappyThing.jsp" scope="session"> <forward name="success" path="/WaAssignDefaultHappyThing.jsp"/> <forward name="failure" path="/WaAssignDefaultHappyThing.jsp"/> </action> As far as I can see, nothing is missing, and everything necessary is being found, but the logs say "File not found: {0}" What is "{0}"?? The stack trace only shows IBMs code, which I can't see the source of, and therefore can't trace. Is this a bug in the websphere code? I'd appreciate any help.

  • Extending spring based app

    - by pitr
I have a spring-based Web Service. I now want to build a sort of plugin for it that extends it with beans. What I have now in web.xml is: <context-param> <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> <param-value>/WEB-INF/classes/*-configuration.xml</param-value> </context-param> My core app has main-configuration.xml which declares its beans. My plugin app has plugin-configuration.xml which declares additional beans. Now when I deploy, my build deploys plugin.jar into /WEB-INF/lib/ and copies plugin-configuration.xml into /WEB-INF/classes/ all under main.war. This is all fine (although I think there could be a better solution), but when I develop the plugin, I don't want to have two projects in Eclipse with dependencies. I wish to have main.jar that I include as a library. However, web.xml from main.jar isn't automatically discovered. How can I do this? Bean injection? Bean discovery of some sort? Something else? Note: I expect to have multiple different plugins in production, but development of each of them will be against pure main.jar Thank you.

  • Spring Web Service Client Tutorial or Example Required

    - by Nirmal
Hello All... I need to jump into the Spring Web Service Project, in that I required to implement the Spring Web Service's Client Only.. So, I have already gone through with Spring's Client Reference Document. So, I got the idea of required classes for the implementation of Client. But my problem is like I have done some googling, but didn't get any proper example of both Client and Server from that I can implement one sample for my client. So, if anybody gives me some link or tutorial for proper example from that I can learn my client side implementation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

  • How to secure Java webservices with login and session handling

    - by hubertg
I'd like to secure my (Java metro) webservice with a login. Here's how I'm planning to do that: Steps required when calling a webservice method are: call login(user, pwd), receive a session token 1.1 remember the token call servicemethod (token, arg1, arg2...) webservice checks if the token is known, if not throw exception otherwise proceed logout or timeout after x time periods of inactivity my questions: 1. what's your opinion on this approach? does it make sense? 2. are there any libraries which take the burden of writing a session handling (maybe with database persistence to survive app restarts) (the solution should be simple and easily usable with Java and .NET clients) thanks!

  • Abstract Methods in "Product" - Factory Method C#

    - by Regina Foo
I have a simple class library (COM+ service) written in C# to consume 5 web services: Add, Minus, Divide, Multiply and Compare. I've created the abstract product and abstract factory classes. The abstract product named WS's code: public abstract class WS { public abstract double Calculate(double a, double b); public abstract string Compare(double a, double b); } As you see, when one of the subclasses inherits WS, both methods must be overridden which might not be useful in some subclasses. E.g. Compare doesn't need Calculate() method. To instantiate a new CompareWS object, the client class will call the CreateWS() method which returns a WS object type. public class CompareWSFactory : WSFactory { public override WS CreateWS() { return new CompareWS(); } } But if Compare() is not defined as abstract in WS, the Compare() method cannot be invoked. This is only an example with two methods, but what if there are more methods? Is it stupid to define all the methods as abstract in the WS class? My question is: I want to define abstract methods that are common to all subclasses of WS whereas when the factory creates a WS object type, all the methods of the subclasses can be invoked (overridden methods of WS and also the methods in subclasses). How should I do this?

How is using this token any more secure then just relying on the username-password in the first place?

See beans below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans <!-- ommited -->> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-extension-soap.xml" /> <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-servlet.xml" /> <bean id="internalActService" class="package.InternalActServiceImpl" /> <jaxws:endpoint implementor="#internalActService" address="/InternalActService"> <jaxws:properties> <entry key="schema-validation-enabled" value="true" /> </jaxws:properties> <jaxws:outFaultInterceptors> <bean class="package.InternalActServiceFaultOutInterceptor" /> </jaxws:outFaultInterceptors> </jaxws:endpoint> </beans> As can you see I added schema validation to my web service. But CXF throws SoapFault when request is not corresponding with schema. I want to send to the client SoapMessage instead of SoapFault, that's why I added outFaultInterceptors. My question is how to transform SoapFault to SoapMessage? I've made few tries but I don't know how to implement outFaultInterceptor.

  • xsd:datetime and XmlGregorianCalendar causes NullPointerException

    - by Draemon
The following works: public Date getDate() { return date; } and produces something like: <date>2010-03-23T17:43:50.879Z</date> And I can use an XmlGregorianCalendar to return xsd:date or xsd:time types fine: @XmlSchemaType(name="date") public XmlGregorianCalendar getDate() { return date; } which produces something like: <date>2010-03-23</date> But trying to return xsd:datetime like so: @XmlSchemaType(name="datetime") public XmlGregorianCalendar getDate() { return date; } Causes this stack trace: java.lang.NullPointerException at com.sun.xml.bind.v2.model.impl.RuntimeBuiltinLeafInfoImpl.checkXmlGregorianCalendarFieldRef(RuntimeBuiltinLeafInfoImpl.java:864) at com.sun.xml.bind.v2.model.impl.RuntimeBuiltinLeafInfoImpl.access$200(RuntimeBuiltinLeafInfoImpl.java:111) at com.sun.xml.bind.v2.model.impl.RuntimeBuiltinLeafInfoImpl$13.print(RuntimeBuiltinLeafInfoImpl.java:536) ...snip... at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Processor.process(Http11Processor.java:852) at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol$Http11ConnectionHandler.process(Http11Protocol.java:588) at org.apache.tomcat.util.net.JIoEndpoint$Worker.run(JIoEndpoint.java:489) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) Which doesn't mention my code at all. • Metro + Jetty + OSGi = pain

    - by mjgp2
I am trying to swap out Sun's HTTPServer for the much better Jetty server, within an OSGi bundle, running on Equinox. I have tried this: System.setProperty("com.sun.net.httpserver.HttpServerProvider","org.mortbay.jetty.j2se6.JettyHttpServerProvider"); but when endpoint.publish(url) is called, and the server is spawned, it complains of a ClassNotFoundException for org.mortbay.jetty.j2se6.JettyHttpServerProvider. However, the correct jars are in the bundle, and indeed in the Activator I can instantiate a org.mortbay.jetty.j2se6.JettyHttpServerProvider. I think that this is a some kind of classpath issue - the spawned server is in a different classpath maybe? I have tried adding the JARs in at the JDK level, but this doesn't make any difference. Can oanyone shed any light how on earth to get this working? P.S. Maybe hideous System.setProperty calls will vanish from the world one day. Hopefully :)

  • How to specify a parameter as part of every web service call?

    - by LES2
Currently, each web service for our application has a user parameter that is added for every method. For example: @WebService public interface FooWebService { @WebMethod public Foo getFoo(@WebParam(name="alwaysHere",header=true,partName="alwaysHere") String user, @WebParam(name="fooId") Long fooId); @WebMethod public Result deletetFoo(@WebParam(name="alwaysHere",header=true,partName="alwaysHere") String user, @WebParam(name="fooId") Long fooId); // ... } There could be twenty methods in a service, each with the first parameter as user. And there could be twenty web services. We don't actually use the 'user' argument in the implementations - in fact, I don't know why it's there - but I wasn't involved in the design, and the person that put it there had a reason (I hope). Anyway, I'm trying to straighten out this Big Ball of Mud. I have already come a long way by wrapping the web services by a Spring proxy, which allows me to do some before-and-after processing in an interceptor (before there were at least 20 lines of copy-pasted boiler plate per method). I'm wondering if there's some kind of "message header" I can apply to the method or package and that can be accessed by some type of handler or something outside of each web service method. Thanks in advance for the advice, LES

  • [JAX-B] How can I ignore a superclass?

    - by MrSpandex
I'm trying to write a web service for the java.util.logging api. So I wrote a class MyLogRecord that inherits from LogRecord. I annotated this class with JAX-B annotations, including @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.NONE) so it would ignore non-annotated fields and properties. When I start up tomcat, I get errors that java.util.logging.Level and other java.util.logging classes do not have a default constructor, but none of my annotated methods make any reference to the Level class or any of the other java.util.logging classes. These are referenced by the parent class. My sub-class has everything it needs defined. How can I get JAX-B to ignore the parent class completely? Update: I found another post on this, which suggests modifying the parent class. This is obviously not possible because I am extending a java.util class. IS there any way to do this without modifying the superclass? Update2: I found a thread on java.net for a similar problem. That thread resulted in an enhancement request, which was marked as a duplicate of another issue, which resulted in the @XmlTransient annotation. The comments on these bug reports lead me to believe this is impossible in the current spec.

  • Jboss webservice client error

Hi I am getting following error, when a java webservice client written using jboss webservices, tries to invoke a webservice through WSDL URL. The program is executed in java 1.5 VM installed in RHEL Any idea when this kind of exception will pop up?
