  • Anyone know a good web-based file upload package?

    Basically, what I'm looking for is a place for either one of our end users to be able to upload a file to this package, after either receiving a code from one of our support engineers or vice-versa(our engineers upload a file and send a code/link/something to end user) I've spent a bunch of time googling this, I found this: http://turin.nss.udel.edu/programming/dropbox2/, but the code there scares me, and it also doesn't render properly using PHP 5.3(uses short tags, who knows what else.) Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • 450 Error with Postfix

    I have setup postfix to send outgoing mail, It works fine for most of the cases except for some e.g duke.alumni.edu where it gives me a 450 error, even though the email address is valid. This is the exact error I get Sender address rejected: Domain not found (in reply to RCPT TO command)) Any suggestions on how I can rectify this?

    Hi, I am looking for a list like one offered by codeen http://codeen.cs.princeton.edu/ of fast reliable proxy servers.. I just want to be able to "post" on usenet or yahoo groups with them.. I think the codeen ones don't allow HTTP-POST I don't need them for downloading or for torrents, or even for any images.. they can block images to keep browsing faster. I know it's not a list, but I did try TOR once, but it was horribly slow.

    Hi so i was doing some research in the library so i could use some pictures later on my Desktop computer in my room. I have space on my Lab account which i usually SSH into, and i was wondering if URL's can be directly transferred over to a remote machine and saved on the hard disk. I was thinking something like this: scp http://click.si.edu/images/truncatedurl.jpg /home3/etc.../filename.jpg is this possible? Thanks in advance.

I've found this link (referred to in the "Further Reading" section of the 8.4 docs):- http://db.cs.berkeley.edu//papers/UCB-MS-zfong.pdf but it seems quite old. That in itself is not a problem, but I wanted to be sure that I have information that is relevant. Is this the best resource for understanding how postgresql processes queries (using plans, statistics etc.) or are there others?

    Sorry for my English mistakes, I'm Spanish. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 in a tablet. I've removed overlay-scrollbars and I have increased the scrollbars size to use them with fingers. In /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-2.0/gtkrc I've changed: GtkScrollbar::slider-width = 23 GtkScrollbar::min-slider-length = 51 and added: GtkScrollbar::has-backward-stepper = 0 GtkScrollbar::has-forward-stepper = 0 In /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-3.0/gtk-widgets.css I've changed: GtkScrollbar-min-slider-length: 51; GtkRange-slider-width: 23; (in .scrollbar item) Now my scrollbars are usable with fingers, but they seem different for gtk-2.0 and gtk-3.0 apps. In the picture the left scrollbar is a gtk-2.0 app and the right one is a gtk-3.0 I want to setup gtk2.0 bar to be exactly the same as gtk3.0, that is Make upper and lower extremes empty (oranges circles in the picture) Reduce the length of the 3 horizontal lines (black ellipse) Can somebody help me?   • Do I really need to "learn" C# for XNA if I know Java?

    so I want to start developing in XNA. As of now, I do not know C#, but I would consider myself "good" at Java. I have looked at some C# code and it looks almost IDENTICAL to Java... After looking at this, http://www.harding.edu/fmccown/java_csharp_comparison.html it looks like they are basically the same. Obviously some function names are going to be different, but I think I can handle it. Now if I want to learn game development in XNA, do I really need to "learn" and master C#, or can I just jump right in and learn along the way? I should also mention, I also know PHP which looks very similar...

  • Cannot get debconf version after delete /var/lib/dpkg

    As a new ubuntu user, I just make a mistaken. I've deleted a folder /var/lib/dpkg/ instead of /var/lib/dpkg/lock :) Now when I execute apt-get -f install then it will display error message: ... E: Cannot get debconf version. Is debconf installed? debconf: apt-extracttemplates failed: No such file or directory ... I've try this tutorial: http://people.adams.edu/~cdmiller/posts/Ubuntu-dpkg-recovery/ but still no luck. How can I fix this issue?

  • 12.04's music players won't stream radio stations

    I cannot get any music player in 12.04 to stream radio stations. My previous OS (ubuntu 10.04) had no problems with this. I have tried Rhythmbox and Exaile. neither works in 12.04 (but both work fine in 10.04. I inputted this stream: http://ummedia12.rs.itd.umich.edu:8004 I see that an internet connection is established by "Python" and I hear the "Advertisement" that plays right before the stream begins. But then just silence. The stream works fine in VLC, but I like to use the music players because they "store" the URL and have a tab that says Radio. I can find no way to "store" the URL in VLC. Anyone know what's wrong and why it's not working in the music players? I have fluendo plugins installed. I have python installed. I have ffmpeg installed.

  • How to discredit hacked links pointing at my company's website

    The competition of one of my company's websites has started a really dirty campaign of acquiring hack links. One of their ingenious tactics has been to seed in links to OUR site withing their hack bot, making US look like we might be responsible for it or using us to cover their tail. These are .gov and .edu sites. Is there any way possible to discredit these links? To disavow them at all? EDIT: Penguin has really effected this question, IMO. Does anyone know if there is a revised opinion on disavowing backlinks to your site?

    I am using enchantJS and would like to use the letters and numbers as well as numpad on a keyboard to do different things (eg: hotkeys). By default, the directions are bound to the arrow keys. Any of the six buttons may also be bound to any key with an ASCII value. We’ll address that later. So enchant provides the ability to bind keys to different input such as up, down, left, right...but how can I simply check whether the D or X key was pressed, and if so, perform certain actions based on that event?

    I have problem with Google Chrome and Theora video. I have video that plays nice in Opera and Firefox. However, it doesn't play in Google browser and I don't know why. I am not interested in encoding in WebM or h.264, this time. I am not asking what is the best way to publish video on a website. I only do experiments with Ogg Theora. What would be the best way to study for this? What content should I pay particular attention to while learning in Python? I am currently using the book 'Learn Python the hard way', but are there any other books worthy of a mention?     I want to update my sources.list file with the fastest server from the command line in a fresh Ubuntu Server install. I know this is trivially easy with the GUI, but there doesn't seem to be a simple way to do it from from the command line? There are two different working answers to this question below: Use apt-get's mirror: method This method asks the Ubuntu server for a list of mirrors near you based on your IP, and selects one of them. The easiest alternative, with the minor downside that sometimes the closest mirror may not be the fastest. Command-line foo using netselect Shows you how to use the netselect tool to find the fastest recently updated servers from you -- network-wise, not geographically. Use sed to replace mirrors in sources.list. The other answers, including the accepted answer, are no longer valid (for Ubuntu 11.04 and newer) because they recommended Debian packages such as netselect-apt and apt-spy which do not work with Ubuntu.     I am writing a rather simple android game and I am implementing Open GL to draw a 3D cube that spins upon the X, Y and Z axis and I need to know where the user has clicked on the texture of the cube. The texture is a simple square bitmap (100x100) that has a smaller square in the center. I need to know if the user touches the inner square. As well was tell which face of the cube the user touches. Does anyone know how this can be accomplished if not can anyone give some pseudo code on how to tell where the ray correlates to the texture? Or at least point me in the right direction.     I'm currently developing a GOAP system in Java. An explanation of GOAP can be found at http://web.media.mit.edu/~jorkin/goap.html. Essentially, it's using A* to plot between Actions that mutate the world state. To provide a fair chance for all Actions and Goals to execute, I'm using a heuristic function to estimate the cost of doing something. What is the best way to estimate this cost so that it is comparable to all the other costs? As an example, estimating the cost of running away from an enemy versus attacking it - how should the cost be calculated to be comparable?
