  i'm running Apache 2 on Debian at my VPS. Naturally i have problem with restricted GD-library of my php package and i need to fix it (i need imagerotate() function). • iMac invalid memory access and then crash?

  My iMac G5 from a few years ago (the square white one) dies now, with a message about an invalid memory access. It goes straight to an Open Firmware prompt and doesn't even load the Mac OS at all. Am I correct in guessing that the memory is probably the issue, and that if I replace it, we may be able to boot again as normal? That's my gut feeling anyway, so I ordered some more memory and plan to swap it today. Any thoughts? Ideas?

• Send one invalid email response to sender

  I discovered that my postfix/dovecot configuration isn't rejecting emails. If a person sends an email to an invalid email-address, it just drops it. I am fine with this behavior since I think it discourages spammers from mining emails (I have had some success). Recently a person I did not want to talk to emailed an address I cut off and didn't receive a response back. It would have saved me some problems if they knew to call me instead of sending 50+ emails. How would I configure Dovecot/postfix to send a message back to a sender of an email address and then limit this 1 per domain or unique email. • Group policy results failing with "Invalid class" error

  When trying to run the Group Policy Results Wizard against a specific workstation, I'm getting the following error: The wizard was unable to generate the computer or user's data due to insufficient permissions. Details: Invalid class I'm guessing that the class being referred to is a WMI class, but I haven't gotten much farther. I've run sfc /scannow on the machine with no luck. I've also followed all of the recommendations in this article: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm. I cannot find anything useful in the event logs and I can't think of anywhere else I could look to find out what's really happening here. Any help would be appreciated.

  I am receiving the following error when trying to use the latest puppetlabs-apache module from github (https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppetlabs-apache): Error: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER: Invalid parameter identifier at /etc/puppet/environments/apache_update/modules/apache/manifests/mod.pp:40 on node zordon.mydomain.com Warning: Not using cache on failed catalog Error: Could not retrieve catalog; skipping run My node config looks like: node 'zordon.mydomain.com' { include template::common include template::puppetagent include template::lamp User::Create sudo::conf { 'joe': priority = 60, content = 'joe ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL', require = User::Create['joe'], } } The template::lamp class is what uses apache module: class template::lamp { include myfirewall Firewall Firewall class { 'apache': } class { 'apache::mod::php': } class { 'apache::mod::ssl': } class { 'mysql::server': } } It looks like serverfault markup is getting garbled on Puppet realize statements. The User::Create and Firewall lines are just realizing a user and 2 firewall rules. I have verified that the /var/lib/puppet/lib/puppet/type/a2mod.rb type has the identifier parameter and it is the same MD5 as the server. I am using Puppet 3.0.1 on both agent and master. Any idea what may cause this?

  About three days ago, I noticed the exim mailqueue started filling up on one of my servers, and upon inspecting some of the emails using # exim -Mvb $ID, I noticed they were being sent to some system email address (which is not a real address), and the body of the messages were as follows: (process:8259): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text() I'm wondering what could be causing this strange issue, as I've never heard of 'pango' at all... I've never seen that function used in my lifetime! It seems the process id (PID) is for an apache process, though, as the pids are always gone by the time I use # ps -aux to look them up.   After searching for hours to solve my problem and found nothing helpful I ask my first question here. I want to compile and install php 5.3.17 cli with pcntl extension enabled on a Debian server. • SVN help:: svn: invalid option: --trust-server-cert

  Hi, I want to bypass certificate checking. I tried using svn --trust-server-cert update, but I get an error, svn: invalid option: --trust-server-cert. I am on ubuntu and the svn version is 1.5.4. Is there any other way to bypass the certificate? Ubuntu won't automatically update my svn to 1.6.xx, which I think has this option. (In any case, I have heard that 1.6.xx has compatibility problems with some apache modules so is not fully safe to install?). Anyone with a suggestion? Thanks JP

• Bad request - Invalid Hostname Error when using ARR IP address

  I'm trying to setup a simple ARR system. I have 1 ARR machine load balancing between 2 APP servers. I can reach the app sites if i use the server name of the ARR machine. (http://arrserver/app) But i can't do it with its IP address. (http://10.7.10.25/app). It gives the "Bad Request - Invalid Hostname". In the ARR machine i configured the default site's bindings to "All Unassigned","80" (default values). Do i need to change the binding rule or need additional url rewrite rules? And also, in the ARR server http://127.0.0.1/app doesn't work. But http://localhost/app works fine. Thx in advance

• LAN connection suddenly domain_not_set.invalid

  I went to work today - internet fine as always. Came back, dreaded yellow triangle. I can connect wirelessly like i am now on my tablet. Thats completely fine. But through LAN I get the domain_not_set.Invalid message if I renew my IP for example. It seems I just don't have a DNS. But I have literally not touched anything no ones even been in the house. Hows that happen? Any help on why only wireless works would be great, I am gonna buy a wireless adapter tomorrow for the interim but I would like to know why. Thanks.

  Very strange problem here: openssl successfully creates signatures but only those created as root are valid whereas created by another user (www-data) are invalid!   I have a problem with Disk Utility on Mac OS X 10.6. I have an image of Windows that I would like to use as a bootable volume on a pen drive or external hard drive. The thing is: When I try to restore the volume from the image I get an error: "Restore Failure: Could not validate resource - Invalid Argument" I read some information about that error on the Internet. I converted the image into .iso (Mac OS Extended/ISO (Joliet) Hybrid Image) format and then got this error: "Restore Failure: Could not find any scan information. The source image needs to be imagescanned before it can be restored." When I try to scan the image for Restore, I get the first message. I really read a lot of information about this topic on the Internet, but I haven't found the solution. I tried both ISO and DMG formats; I don't know which is best.

  I have a dev and QA environment with SQL 2005 EE on dev and SQL 2000 on QA. On QA I run aspnet_regsql –ssadd –sstype t -E in command line and it works fine. I run the same command on dev and it returns "'-ssadd' is invalid". The working directory for both is C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727. I found some info on MSDN that said that SQL Express Edit. required a script to run before -ssadd will work, but this script didn't help me. I'm not sure where to go from here.

• Passing the output of the last command to sed as an argument

  Hi, Basically, I'm wanting to automate adding something to xorg.conf in the right place, I've used some commands to get the line number of the line I want to manipulate, but I'm not really sure how to go about passing this line number (as an argument and NOT something to be manipulated) to sed. I have been told about xargs and looked at the docs on it, but after some reading and experimentation I can't seem to get it to work. In case anyone can think of a better method entirely, the process I want to automate is just finding the line containing both "Identifier" and "Monitor0" (there will only be one) and adding a line below it. The problem with just finding Monitor0 and manipulating that line is that there are multiple lines with Monitor0 in. I've got this far: fgrep -n "Monitor0" </etc/X11/xorg.conf | fgrep "Identifier" | cut -f1 -d: This gives out the line number which I'm wanting to pass to sed, but I'm not really sure how to do it. ...or is there a simpler way which I'm not seeing?   I'm unsure as to why I'm getting the following error when apache is rebooted: Invalid command 'VirtualDocumentRoot', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Action 'start' failed.   One of our semi-busy mail servers (sendmail) has had a lot of inbound connections over the past few days from hosts that are issuing garbage commands.   I want to use the openoffice chinese fonts, eg AR PL SungtiL GB, but the xelatex tells me that it is an invalid name (as shown below). It seems like the font name has spaces and so it doesn't recognize it? How should I get around this? (/usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/base/syntonly.sty)kpathsea: Invalid fontname `AR PL SungtiL GB', contains ' ' I am using the xeCJK package in XeTeX 3.1415926-2.2-0.9995.2 (TeX Live 2009/Debian) on Ubuntu.

• Throwing exception vs checking null, for a null argument

  What factors dictate throwing an exception if argument is null (eg if (a is null) throw new ArgumentNullException() ), as opposed to checking the argument if it is null beforehand. I don't see why the exception should be thrown rather than checking for null in the first place? What benefit is there in the throw exception approach? This is for C#/.NET Thanks
