  • DIY Grid-It Clone Organizes Your Tech Gear in Style

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
If you’re looking for a customizable way to organize your cables and small electronics, this DIY Grid-It clone uses a series of elastic straps to hold everything in place. Grid-It is a commercial cable and device organizer that is, essentially, a stiff insert for your briefcase or bag that is wrapped in inter-woven elastic straps. You lift and slide the straps the secure your items in place creating, on the fly, customized organization for your cables and small devices. This DIY project recreations the Grid-It system using an old hard cover book as the foundation for the straps–it doubles the amount of usable space, provides a stiff cover, and (if you select a striking book) looks striking at the same time. • Domino Dump Turns Into Van Gogh Painting [Video]

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
We’ve seen a lot of domino projects in our day, but this is the first one we’ve seen that turns into a piece of classic art when it’s done. Courtesy of domino enthusiast FlippyCat: I recreated Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry Night” from just over 7,000 dominos. The second attempt took about 11 hours total to build. The first attempt failed, when I dropped a screw from the camera rig onto it. I was able to improve the swirling clouds better in the second attempt as a result though. I do not know how long the first attempt took, but I did not have any accidents building like I did in the second attempt! Next up, Edvard Munch’s The Scream? • Slide Men&uacute; con Jquery &amp; Asp.net

    - by Jason Ulloa

  • Instalar SQL Server 2008

    - by Jason Ulloa

  • Maximize Your Quadcopter’s Range with a Wi-Fi Repeater

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
The majority of commercial quadcopters use Wi-Fi for remote control and suffer from a fairly limited range. This simple hack uses an Wi-Fi router as an extender to radically expand the range of your copter. There’s no heavy modification or code tweaking required, all you need is a power source for the router and the ability to set it up as a repeater. The extra signal boost provided by the repeater extends the range from an average of 50 meters to over 250 meters. Check out the video above to see it in action. If you’re looking for a more dependable but more labor intensive way to extend the range of your copter, you can also retrofit it with a traditional radio-controlled remote. • The Making of Arduino [Geek History]

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
The open-source Arduino board is the heart of thousands of different DIY projects–it would be easy to think that the Arduino has always been around. The ubiquitous little hobby board, however, is but a scant six years old. At technology blog IEEESpectrum they delve into the history of the Arduino board and its quiet origins in a small Italian town. Here’s an excerpt from their lengthy write up about the the origin and history of the beloved Arduino: Arduino is a low-cost microcontroller board that lets even a novice do really amazing things. You can connect an Arduino to all kinds of sensors, lights, motors, and other devices and use easy-to-learn software to program how your creation will behave. You can build an interactive display or a mobile robot and then share your design with the world by posting it on the Net. Released in 2005 as a modest tool for Banzi’s students at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea (IDII), Arduino has spawned an international do-it-yourself revolution in electronics. You can buy an Arduino board for just about US $30 or build your own from scratch: All hardware schematics and source code are available for free under public licenses. As a result, Arduino has become the most influential open-source hardware movement of its time. The little board is now the go-to gear for artists, hobbyists, students, and anyone with a gadgetry dream. More than 250 000 Arduino boards have been sold around the world—and that doesn’t include the reams of clones. “It made it possible for people do things they wouldn’t have done otherwise,” says David A. Mellis, who was a student at IDII before pursuing graduate work at the MIT Media Lab and is the lead software developer of Arduino. • Mission 26 Captures Endeavour’s Last Trip in Stop Motion

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
On September 21, 2012 the Space Shuttle Endeavour was delivered to the Los Angeles International Airport and spent the next three days being slowly transported 12 miles to the California Science Center. One dedicated team of photographers captured the whole thing. Lead by Matthew Givot, the group followed the shuttle for three straight days, photographing it around the clock. The Endeavor started on Thursday night and went on until Sunday night, with very little sleep to no sleep. The only thing that kept us going was pure love of the art and adrenaline. One thing that stood out the most for me, while I was shooting, was the people of Los Angeles. It was so powerful to see the excitement on peoples faces and the pride of their home town. No matter how many times I would see the Shuttle it would never get old. This has been an amazing experience that I will never forget. My hope is that this film will show you the amount of dedicated people and teamwork that it took to get the Endeavour to its new home. Enjoy. The end result of their labor is the above video, a beautiful time-lapse video of Endeavour’s journey from the airport to its hanger at the California Science Center. • Curiosity’s Official Self-Portrait

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
NASA has released a high-resolution self portrait of Curiosity. The photo, a composite of images snapped by the rover’s agile arm and MAHLI camera, shows Curiosity in front of Mount Sharp. From the NASA release: The mosaic shows the rover at “Rocknest,” the spot in Gale Crater where the mission’s first scoop sampling took place. Four scoop scars can be seen in the regolith in front of the rover. The base of Gale Crater’s 3-mile-high (5-kilometer) sedimentary mountain, Mount Sharp, rises on the right side of the frame. Mountains in the background to the left are the northern wall of Gale Crater. The Martian landscape appears inverted within the round, reflective ChemCam instrument at the top of the rover’s mast. Self-portraits like this one document the state of the rover and allow mission engineers to track changes over time, such as dust accumulation and wheel wear. Due to its location on the end of the robotic arm, only MAHLI (among the rover’s 17 cameras) is able to image some parts of the craft, including the port-side wheels. • Controlar Autentificaci&oacute;n Crystal Reports

    - by Jason Ulloa
SqlConnectionStringBuilder builder = new SqlConnectionStringBuilder(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["xxx"].ConnectionString); 2. InitialCatalog; serverName = builder.DataSource; userName = builder.UserID; dataBasePassword = builder.Password;   Database oCRDb = _oRpt.Database; Tables oCRTables = oCRDb.Tables; //Table oCRTable = default(Table); TableLogOnInfo oCRTableLogonInfo = default(TableLogOnInfo); ConnectionInfo oCRConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();   oCRConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = _dbName; oCRConnectionInfo.ServerName = _serverName; oCRConnectionInfo.UserID = _userID; oCRConnectionInfo.Password = _passWord;   foreach (Table oCRTable in oCRTables) { oCRTableLogonInfo = oCRTable.LogOnInfo; oCRTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo = oCRConnectionInfo; oCRTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(oCRTableLogonInfo);     }   }   4. ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument(); report.Load(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/Reports/" + repName)); ApplyInfo(report); viewer.ReportSource = report; } Al final, nuestra clase completa ser vería así public class CrystalRules { SqlConnectionStringBuilder builder = new SqlConnectionStringBuilder(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["Fatchoy.Data.Properties.Settings.FatchoyConnectionString"].ConnectionString);   private string _dbName; private string _serverName; private string _userID; private string _passWord;   private string dataBase { get { return _dbName; } set { _dbName = value; } }   private string serverName { get { return _serverName; } set { _serverName = value; } }   private string userName { get { return _userID; } set { _userID = value; } }   private string dataBasePassword { get { return _passWord; } set { _passWord = value; } }   internal void ApplyInfo(ReportDocument _oRpt) { dataBase = builder.InitialCatalog; serverName = builder.DataSource; userName = builder.UserID; dataBasePassword = builder.Password;   Database oCRDb = _oRpt.Database; Tables oCRTables = oCRDb.Tables; //Table oCRTable = default(Table); TableLogOnInfo oCRTableLogonInfo = default(TableLogOnInfo); ConnectionInfo oCRConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();   oCRConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = _dbName; oCRConnectionInfo.ServerName = _serverName; oCRConnectionInfo.UserID = _userID; oCRConnectionInfo.Password = _passWord;   foreach (Table oCRTable in oCRTables) { oCRTableLogonInfo = oCRTable.LogOnInfo; oCRTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo = oCRConnectionInfo; oCRTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(oCRTableLogonInfo);     }   }   public void loadReport(string repName, CrystalReportViewer viewer) {   // attached our report to viewer and set database login. ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument(); report.Load(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/Reports/" + repName)); ApplyInfo(report); viewer.ReportSource = report; }       #region instance   private static CrystalRules m_instance;   // Properties public static CrystalRules Instance { get { if (m_instance == null) { m_instance = new CrystalRules(); } return m_instance; } }   public DataDataContext m_DataContext { get { return DataDataContext.
