  • Use of putty in command line

    Hi, I'm trying to use putty in command line from an hudson job. The command is the following one: putty -ssh -2 -P 22 USERNAME@SERVER_ADDR -pw PASS -m command.txt Where 'command.txt' is a shell script to execute in the server through SSH. If i launch this command from the Window command prompt, it works, the shell script is executed on the server machine. If i launch a build of the hudson job configured with this batch command, it doesn't work. The build is running... and running... and running.. without doing anything, and i have to stop it manually. So my question is: Is it possible to launch an external programm (i.e. putty) from an hudson job ? ps: i tried SSH plugin but... not a really good plugin (pre/post build, fail status of the commands launched not caught by hudson, etc.) Thanks in advance for your help.   • Microsoft Ergonomic 7000 keyboard + mouse lag

    I recently bought a new Microsoft Ergonomic 7000 keyboard. I started to use it with my Ubuntu 12.04 and it lags all the time. I try to be more specific: Even on a minor CPU usage the mouse lags. By minor I mean firefox loading a webpage, or opening an application like conky, gnome-terminal etc. When higher CPU usage occurs the keyboard is lagging too, but by this I mean it misses my hits, so what I type won't appear later. What I tried so far (and did not work)? Disable autosuspend (echo -1 to sys/bus/usb.../autosuspend) and at the same place set level to "on". I have tried several video drivers: Vesa, radeon, newest catalyst (and catalyst beta too) When my keyboard and/or mouse lags I tried an other USB keyboard which works perfectly and the same for the mouse. I tried the keyboard and mouse on a different computer with Linux (Ubuntu, Arch, OpenSuse) too, the same problem appears but not on Windows. I tried to replace the battery sets, and to change channel on the dongle. And also tried to use the dongle from other USB ports. On the same time I am able to use any other wireless mouse. I changed the XkbModel to "microsoft7000" but it did not solve anything.     I am working with curlftpfs to mount a remote FTP directory locally in Kubuntu 12.04 64-bit. I have the following entry in my /etc/fstab: curlftpfs#ftp_user:ftp_password@ftp_server /mnt/nimh fuse ro,noexec,nosuid,nodev,noauto,user,allow_other,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0 I have created the directory in /mnt with the following: |-> ll /mnt total 4.0K drwxrwxr-x 2 jim fuse 4.0K Jan 6 09:56 nimh/ My user does belong to the fuse group as well: uid=1000(jim) gid=1000(jim) groups=1000(jim),27(sudo),105(fuse) I am able to mount manually without issue but then the /mnt changes to: |-> mount /mnt/nimh |-> ll /mnt total 0 drwxr-xr-x 1 jim jim 1.0K Dec 31 1969 nimh/ However when I attempt to umount /mnt/nimh I receive: umount: /mnt/nimh mount disagrees with the fstab My /etc/mtab looks like: curlftpfs#ftp://ftp_user:ftp_password@ftp_server/ /mnt/nimh fuse ro,noexec,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,user=jim 0 0 I am able to umount the filesystem without issue if I sudo. Any idea what I'm missing in order to be able to unmount without having to use sudo?

  • Running Sonatype Nexus in Tomcat 7.0, Tomcat blocking PUT requests

    I was previously running Nexus 1.8 on OSX and uploading jars for releases without any issues. The OSX box died, so I moved to a FreeBSD server. Since Nexus doesn't have binaries for FreeBSD, I decided to run it in my Tomcat container. Now, I have set up Nexus 1.9 in Tomcat 7.0 on FreeBSD. Everything is working well, except I can't upload jars to my release or snapshot repositories. If I try via Hudson, I get a 401 error (and no further details). If I try manually via curl, I get an error message back from Tomcat: "This request requires HTTP authentication.". Why is Tomcat giving this error, and how do I stop it? If I look in the Nexus logs I can see that the PUT request doesn't even reach Nexus, Tomcat is intercepting it.

  • Building Android app from ant via Hudson - chicken and egg problem

    When using an Android-generated ant build file, the file references your SDK installation via an sdk.dir property inside the local.properties files which is generated by "android update project -p .". The comments in build.xml suggest that local.properties should NOT be checked into version control. BUT, when you run your build from Hudson, it does a fresh checkout of your code from version control, hence local.properties does not exist and subsequently the build fails without sdk.dir being set. So its kind of chicken and egg problem. As a workaround I have checked local.properties into version control for now (nobody else will use it) but I was curious as to how other developers had tackled this problem ?

    System settings/sound does not open, freezes and I have to force close. Speaker symbol with volume control does not open scroll-down menu, and there is no sounds. Many people have problems with Hudson Azalia in Ubuntu, but I found no working solution. For switch syntax, type "MSTest /help" WTF? Looks like PartCover doesn't handle spaces in the --target-args well. Or am I missing some quotes somewhere? Has anyone gotten something like to to work?

    I have a java junit test that passes when run alone on a development machine. We also have a hudson job which runs all the tests, invoked via ant, on a Mac OS X 10.4 node with Java 1.5. The test was passing in the hudson build until recently but now (with no related code changes) one test fails everytime with the following error: Error Message Forked Java VM exited abnormally.     I using ant exec task to execute xcodebuild to build some iOS projects hudson. I would like to be able to crate script that way that allows not to specify sdk version, because after updating sdk on hudson slave or my iOS projects all my projects failing.... There is is nice option in xcode since sdk 4.2 in target setup Base SDK - Latest iOS and I don't have to provide -sdk param in xcodebuild command, but then (i think) it's taken from xcode project and it's bad because then some one can change target from simulator to device accidentally during commit. I need something that is constant. I will prefer not to use env variable because I would like to be able to run this ant task also on dev machines and would like not have to renember about setting it on all machines. Unfortunately xcodebuild -showsdk gives only: Mac OS X SDKs: Mac OS X 10.4 -sdk macosx10.4 Mac OS X 10.5 -sdk macosx10.5 Mac OS X 10.6 -sdk macosx10.6 iOS SDKs: iOS 4.2 -sdk iphoneos4.2 iOS Simulator SDKs: Simulator - iOS 3.2 -sdk iphonesimulator3.2 Simulator - iOS 4.0 -sdk iphonesimulator4.0 Simulator - iOS 4.1 -sdk iphonesimulator4.1 Simulator - iOS 4.2 -sdk iphonesimulator4.2 I need something like -sdk iphoneosLatest.     Hello, I am researching about how to set up CI and continuous deployment for a small team project for a Django based web application. Here are needs: Developer check in the code into a hosted SVN server (unfuddle.com) A CI server detects new checkin, check out the source, build, run functional tests. If tests all passed, deploy the code to the webserver on Amazon EC2. For now, the CI server is also responsible to run the functional tests. I figured out that I can use Husdon as the CI server, use Selenium to run functional tests, and use Fabric to deploy the build to remote web server in Amazon cloud. I am new to Django development and not very familiar with opensource tools. My questions are: I can find some information to integrate hudson with selenium, but I couldn't find much information on how to integrate Fabric to Hudson as well. Is this setup viable? Do you see problems? How do I integrate and deploy database changes? Most likely in the early stage we will change database schema very often with code changes. I used to use Visual Studio and the database project made it very simple to deploy. I wonder if there is "established, well-supported" way to do that. Thanks!!

However, are there any good ways of fully testing a sites links to make sure nothing has broken in a release. I know there's link checkers in general, but I'd like to have it be a part of the build process, so a build outright fails if something isn't right.

  • How and why do I set up a C# build machine?

    Hi all, I'm working with a small (4 person) development team on a C# project. I've proposed setting up a build machine which will do nightly builds and tests of the project, because I understand that this is a Good Thing. Trouble is, we don't have a whole lot of budget here, so I have to justify the expense to the powers that be. So I want to know: What kind of tools/licenses will I need? Right now, we use Visual Studio and Smart Assembly to build, and Perforce for source control. Will I need something else, or is there an equivalent of a cron job for running automated scripts? What, exactly, will this get me, other than an indication of a broken build? Should I set up test projects in this solution (sln file) that will be run by these scripts, so I can have particular functions tested? We have, at the moment, two such tests, because we haven't had the time (or frankly, the experience) to make good unit tests. What kind of hardware will I need for this? Once a build has been finished and tested, is it a common practice to put that build up on an ftp site or have some other way for internal access? The idea is that this machine makes the build, and we all go to it, but can make debug builds if we have to. How often should we make this kind of build? How is space managed? If we make nightly builds, should we keep around all the old builds, or start to ditch them after about a week or so? Is there anything else I'm not seeing here? I realize that this is a very large topic, and I'm just starting out. I couldn't find a duplicate of this question here, and if there's a book out there I should just get, please let me know. EDIT: I finally got it to work! Hudson is completely fantastic, and FxCop is showing that some features we thought were implemented were actually incomplete. We also had to change the installer type from Old-And-Busted vdproj to New Hotness WiX. Basically, for those who are paying attention, if you can run your build from the command line, then you can put it into hudson. Making the build run from the command line via MSBuild is a useful exercise in itself, because it forces your tools to be current.

    I'm trying to use role based security plugin in Jenkins, but i'm not sue i am using it right. I've decided to go with jenkin's own user database as a security realm instead of LDAP. i'm adding the users one by one. Now in the Assign Roles screen, i have global roles like administrator, read only etc... and i have project specific roles like prod_a_developer, prod_b_developer... For each user, do i have to both assign one of the global roles for him and also assign a specific project role ? Also, how do i assign a user to a group ? instead of assigning each user a global role i want to assign a group a global role. not so trivial, Can someone please help me ? Thanks.

    I have exactly the same problem as the fellow from this post - http://jenkins.361315.n4.nabble.com/Tag-this-build-not-working-subversion-td384218.html, except that I use build 1.413 Unfortunately, the post does not provide any workarounds except downgrading to 1.310 (from 1.315) I would gladly provide the logs, if I knew the logger names. Please, help. P.S. I have posted this issue both on jenkins issues site - https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-9961 and in the respective google group - https://groups.google.com/d/topic/jenkinsci-users/4UVKFxXA9Jo/overview.
