  • Windows Media Center showing Jerky Video on PC

    I had to repave my Windows 7 x64 box last week due to a hard drive crash, and for a while everything was running perfectly but now all videos in Windows Media Center are jerky (the sound is fine, they just seem to skip a ton of frames all the time). This is on the local machine, but the same thing happens when I try to stream to my Xbox. The videos all show fine in VLC and Windows Media Player (however exhibit the same problem in Quicktime). I guess I must have installed something recently (in the process of getting all the apps I usually have running on my PC) that caused this but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I have updated to the latest video driver (and then rolled back to the standard Windows 7 driver), I have rolled back all the other drivers that I have installed (I believe). I have uninstalled all the codec packs (I also run TVersity, so I have the TVersity codec pack installed), and I uninstalled TVersity. Nothing seems to help. I have uninstalled windows media center, and reinstalled it from the Programs and Features. I have basically ran out of things to try to fix this, and am almost thinking about reinstalling Windows again. Any suggestions? Edit Specs on the PC (which I figured was unimportant since everything used to work perfectly): Intel Core 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.4 Ghz Nvidia GTS 8800 Built in realtek-audio soundcard 4GB Ram Codecs which are failing: All that I have tried, but at least Xvid, Mpgv (mpeg2 video from a camera), and Wmv (only kinds that I have ready access to).

  • java script - Cant send parameter to function from info window in google map marker info window

  • Windows XP update not working

    I have a problem with XP updating. It hangs when I try to search for updates on the website. But the automatic updates still work. And it's running IE6, so I'm trying to update to IE8, hoping that will fix the problems with the website. But when installing IE8 it just hangs at Installing Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP And if I try to install it manually, it hangs when installing the updates for IE8. So looking at these logs, is there anything going wrong with the update process?     We have remote locations each with 2 ASUS media extenders that stream from a computer with a shared Media Player library. Lately, several of these locations experience the "wmpnetwork.exe" service throttling the CPU to 100% usage. Killing the service only results in it starting back up, and so far the only temporary solution is to uninstall Media Player. A lot of these computers are also about 3-5 years old.     I am on shared hosting currently and i registered this account with a .info domain as the main domain.... say MyDomain.info . However, the site runs from MyDomain.com . This is a cpanel based shared hosting account. MyDomain.info has nothing hosted at all... i.e no content files... MyDomain.com is setup as an Add On Domain and run from /public_html/MyDomain under MyDomain.info The problem is that when i type MyDomain as the keyword for search in Google , it shows result(s)for Mydomain.info although this is not the intended site and has no content hosted on itself. I tried to solve the issue by issuing a 301 permanent redirect from MyDomain.info to MyDomain.com, however Google keeps on displaying results as mydomain.info as the main site even after 1 month of the redirect. I want google to index MyDomain.com as the main site and remove MyDomain.info from the results. Also is this harmful from the seo point of view? How can i improve the seo if it is?

    The iPad programming guide says I have to include the UIDeviceFamily key in Info.plist. It also says that the transitioning a target to iPad should have added the key. It didn't. I tried creating blank projects, both iPad-only and universal, and neither got that key. Google comes up short too. What's the story on this mysterious key? The simulator doesn't mind the fact it's missing.

    I recently reformatted my box and I reinstalled XP Media Center 2005. My TV signal is perfect if I plug it directly into the tv; and at any rate even shows I recorded previous to the reformat are blury. I have installed all updates (including Media Player 11) and I have installed a codec pack for different file types. I have no clue why it wouldn't display right. When I play the previously recorded shows in VLC they come out perfectly clear... Any ideas?

    We've got a Windows 7 PC with a Windows Media Player music library that includes both files on the internal hard drive and files on a USB-attached hard drive. When we browse this library from another Windows Media Player (on another Windows 7 machine) we see only the files residing on the library host's internal drive. The files residing on the attached drive don't show up at all, yet on the host they appear undistinguished within the library. Is there a configuration change we can make to cause the attached files to be shared properly? We've turned on read-sharing for "Everyone" on the USB drive, but that hasn't helped. Also it might be worth noting that this issue behaves the same way for us if the client machine is a Playstation 3.

  • Windows Media Player Object with Video_TS Files - No Sound Anymore

    I copied a bunch of my DVDs (yes, owned) to a drive and created a basic webpage to be able to search and play them. I am using the code at the bottom to create a Windows Media Player object and then play the video. The video files are pulled off the DVD in the original format so each movie has files like this: VTS_01_0.BUP VTS_01_0.IFO VTS_01_1.VOB VTS_01_2.VOB VTS_01_3.VOB VTS_01_4.VOB VTS_01_5.VOB VTS_01_6.VOB This all worked great until just recently. On my dev machine, I can play the videos but now, all of a sudden, there is no sound. I have tried the following but no luck: The video is not muted and the sound is at 50% Under the sound icon, under mixer, I checked IE and it is fine Sound works fine using another program, says WinAmp Opening Windows Media Player directly from the Start Menu and then playing the same movie works fine and I get sound I ensured that the option in IE to play sound on websites is checked I can play sound on other people's websites where they have embedded WMP files I tried resetting all of the IE settings on the Advanced tab in IE I tried my website, with my code below on another computer, AND IT WORKS FINE! I tried copying the media files listed above from the computer that works fine to my dev computer and it still doesn't work. If I try using a ".wmv" file, the sound does work By the way, I am using Win7 with IE8. As you can see, this is driving me crazy! Why would it stop working on my one computer and the same code and files work fine on another computer? The laptop only has 40Gb of HD space but we can hook to it a USB external HD with an additional 80Gb. This is a very general question: - What OS should I put on it (more like, what flavor of Linux)? - What media/backup server software should I install on top of that? - How would you go about backing up to it? I need to back up computers on the same LAN, some have Windows, some OS X, some Linux. In the preferences, it allows you to set global hotkeys to control playing, like/dislike, volume, stations, etc. What I would like to do is allow the built-in media keys on my MacBook Pro's keyboard (F7-F12: Previous, Play/Pause, Next, Mute, Volume Up, Volume Down) to control PandoraBoy like they do iTunes.     I've got TVersity installed on a Windows 2003 server box (work had an extra license that they donated to let me install at home to get some practice setting up/administering a domain etc.) I found out that Windows Media Player 11 won't install on Windows 2003, but installed TVersity instead and streaming to my 360 is working great. Problem is that I don't know how to setup streaming to any other PC on the network. All of the PCs have access to the shared network folder, but playing from there doesn't stream and the stutter is pretty bad. Is there a way to setup Windows Media Player 11 or another player to stream from TVersity?

    Hi, I want to start using the media library feature of foobar2000 v1.0 and added one music folder, which contains a couple of subfolders with music of different albums. I restricted the filetypes to *.mp3;*.flac. Now my problem is that I don't want all albums/folders in my media library. But I can't seem to find an option to remove a particular album from the library. Do you have an idea what I can do?     I have recently purchased a new office desktop PC from Dell with OEM version of Windows 7 Pro and Office 2010 Pro. One of the reasons I always use Dell is that they always supply installation media CDs or DVDs, unlike some other companies that just give you ISO images on the hard disk that you have to burn yourself. This is the first PC I have purchased with Office 2010 Pro (OEM), and I was disappointed to see that Dell don't ship out any installation media for office 2010, they just supply a piece of card with the office pro product key printed on it. If the HDD fails completely and I have to perform a clean installation, how can I re-install office? Can I download the trial version of Office 2010 and install that, then offer it my product key? Bearing in mind that the product key is an OEM product, not a retail product, would this work?

  • Empty track in Windows Media Player 12 that can't be deleted

    Right after I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7, I synced with my DropBox account that contains all of my music and added the directory to Windows Media Player 12. I now have a strange track that really isn't a track at all. It's grouped under "Unknown Artist" and has absolutely no text. The only reason I know it's there is because it highlights on mouse-over. Double-clicking on it does nothing. When the song before it ends, Windows Media Player stops playing altogether until I choose a different song (it should continue to play the next song on its own). When I try to delete this mysterious track, nothing happens. I've cleared my library and re-imported everything, but this empty track keeps appearing. I have also checked my Music directory and there is no empty MP3. What is going on here?

    I'm currently considering buying a Mac Mini to use as a media center. I plan to install Windows 7 (or 8) on it, using Boot Camp. Will it be able to go into standby or hibernate (S3, S4?) and wake up to record TV scheduled in Windows Media Center? I haven't been able to find concrete information on supported standby types when running Windows under boot camp, and if Windows will even be able to wake when a recording should start. I just want to be clear on any limitations in this area before I buy anything.

  • Poor quality when trying to stream a 720p video to XBox 360 using Media Center Extender

    I have my XBox 360 set up as a Media Center Extender for my Windows 7 desktop. SD quality avi videos stream fine to my XBox, either though the video library or through Media Center Extender, but when I try a 720p mkv file, the frame rate plummets and the A/V sync is completely lost. I don't want to transcode or switch container formats (mkv isn't supported by the 360), but still want to stream. Both my desktop and 360 are plugged into the same gigabit switch, which is plugged into my ISP supplied modem/router. The video plays fine on my machine in a number of programs. Considering that I should have more than enough bandwidth to accommodate this video, why won't it play back properly?

    I have a Windows Media Player installation which is behaving strangely. I know I have the correct codecs installed for a piece of video, because it is Windows Media Video because the Zune software plays it just fine this is a recent problem; this type of video played just fine a week ago, but I have been unable to isolate the change that borked things (and I have System Restore disabled because the space on this SSD is cramped as it is) When I try to view any video in Windows Media Player, the video does not play, and I just get this: and none of the media buttons have any effect. I have already tried the following: Uninstalling and reinstalling the KLite Codec Pack Uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Media Player via "Add or Remove Windows Features" Removing and allowing WMP to rebuild it's media library by erasing the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows Media directory. sfc /scannow How can I troubleshoot this problem?
