    I have a MFC exe, trying to dynamic load a MFC dll. // This is code in MFC exe HINSTANCE h = AfxLoadLibrary(_T("DLL.dll")); typedef void(*FUN)(); FUN fun = (FUN)GetProcAddress(h, "loveme"); FreeLibrary(h); Both MFC exe and MFC dll, are having their own resource file. However, I realize that, if MFC exe and MFC dll are having a same resource ID, conflict may occur. // This is code in MFC dll. Both exe and dll, are having resources with // ID 101. CString s; s.LoadString(101); // Resource 101 in exe is being shown :( AfxMessageBox(s); May I know how I can avoid resource ID conflict problem? Can we have two resource in both MFC and DLL, although their ID is different, but they are independent from each other? This means, DLL will only load DLL's resource. EXE will only load EXE's resource.

But the point is I need to design GUI also for this. Well, there won't be anything complex. Just a window with few Buttons, RadioButtons, Check Boxes, PicturesBox & few sliders. thats it. I'm using VS 2008 and was expecting a .NET style form designer. Just to test, I created a MFC project (with all default configuration) and these files were created by default: ChildFrm.cpp MainFrm.cpp mfc.cpp mfcDoc.cpp mfcView.cpp stdafx.cpp Now, I'm unable to find a Designer. There is no View Designer. I've opened all the above *.cpp and in the code editor right clicked to see "Designer View". ToolBox is just empty because I'm in code editor mode. When I built the project. This is the window I get. How to open a designer?

    Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) 11.1.1.7 is now available and includes first-time support for Oracle ADF development in Eclipse. Installers for OEPE 11.1.1.7 as well as Eclipse Update instructions can be found on the OEPE downloads page. Here is an overview of the new features of OEPE 11.1.1.7: Support for Oracle ADF Faces Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) 11.1.1.7 now provides support for development with Oracle ADF 11.1.1.4. These features focus on enablement and configuration of the ADF Runtime with Eclipse and WebLogic Server 10.3.4 as well as design time tools for ADF Faces. A new OEPE 11.1.1.7 installer bundles WebLogic Server 10.3.4, Coherence 3.6, and Oracle ADF 11.1.1.4. New Server Extensions allow you to download and install the ADF Runtime libraries into an existing WebLogic Server from within Eclipse.   • SSMS Tools Pack 1.9.3 is out!

    This release adds a great new feature and fixes a few bugs. The new feature called Window Content History saves the whole text in all all opened SQL windows every N minutes with the default being 30 minutes. This feature fixes the shortcoming of the Query Execution History which is saved only when the query is run. If you're working on a large script and never execute it, the existing Query Execution History wouldn't save it. By contrast the Window Content History saves everything in a .sql file so you can even open it in your SSMS. The Query Execution History and Window Content History files are correlated by the same directory and file name so when you search through the Query Execution History you get to see the whole saved Window Content History for that query. Because Window Content History saves data in simple searchable .sql files there isn't a special search editor built in. It is turned ON by default but despite the built in optimizations for space minimization, be careful to not let it fill your disk. You can see how it looks in the pictures in the feature list. The fixed bugs are: SSMS 2008 R2 slowness reported by few people. An object explorer context menu bug where it showed multiple SSMS Tools entries and showed wrong entries for a node. A datagrid bug in SQL snippets. Ability to read illegal XML characters from log files. Fixed the upper limit bug of a saved history text to 5 MB. A bug when searching through result sets prevents search. A bug with Text formatting erroring out for certain scripts. A bug with finding servers where it would return null even though servers existed. Run custom scripts objects had a bug where |SchemaName| didn't display the correct table schema for columns. This is fixed. Also |NodeName| and |ObjectName| values now show the same thing.   You can download the new version 1.9.3 here. Enjoy it!

  • Installing Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1

    As has become customary when the product team releases a new patch, SP or version I like to document the install. This post seams almost redundant as I had no problems, but I think that is as valuable to other thinking of installing the Service Pack as all the problems that we sometimes get. As per Brian's post I am Installing Visual Studio Team Foundation Server Service Pack 1 first and indeed as this is a single server local deployment I need to install both. If I only install one it will leave the other product broken. Figure: Hopefully this will be more uneventful It takes a little while for your system to be checked to see what components need updating. On my main computer this was pretty quick, but on the laptop it took some time. Figure: There are a lot of components to update With this update also comes an update to .NET as well as many other components. Figure: I downloaded the full 1.5GB’s, but you could do a web install It depends on how good you internet connection is to how long it would take to download, but as I am now in the US I decided not to trust the internet connection speeds. It took around 30-40 minutes to download the full thing which is a little slow. Figure: I did not need to download, but that would increase the install time So on my main computer again this was fast, but again on my netbook this took a little while. Figure: The actual install took around 30-40 minutes (2 hours on netbook) I was pretty impressed with the speed of the install, and as Team Explore is now out of the box with Visual Studio 2010 I don’t get the problem of the SP being installed before Team Explorer and having a disjointed experience Figure: As I suspected, no problems with the install Figure: Checking in Visual Studio shows that all the servicing points were successful This was an easy experience even if the SP was over 1.5GB’s to download Hopefully I will be discovering things that work better for a good while to come, as well as not seeing holes in the product that I had no encountered yet.     Please do not mark it as a dupe of this question just yet: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1881865/bold-labels-in-mfc That question does not help me; for some reason I do not see the rich edit control. Instead I believe I have to do it in code. here is a sample I found: http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/VC/microsoft.public.vc.mfc/2006-10/msg00245.html My problem is that I prefer not to re-invent the wheel and test for errors myself or through QA. Someone must have implemented this before. Please share your code. What I would like to do is: Keep the same font size, family, etc. as in the already created label, but make it bold and italic as well. Keep the memory footprint reasonably low (do not create any new unnecessary objects), but do not get the app into an inconsistent state either. I appreciate your help.
