  • ntpd on Fedora Core 6 with high negative time rest values

    The basic problem is we have a FC6 server instance running on a virtual machine, and the system time seems to have been slowly varying until it is now causing a problem. The server runs 24/7 and has been up for 155 days. It has been changed to show GMT, and reports the time as (example) 00:15:15 GMT whereas the actual time is 00:00:00 GMT. This is an offset of 915 seconds. selinux has been changed to 'setenforce 0' for testing and I am running as root. I stop the ntpd service and change the time in System|Administration|Date & Time. The time still shows the same with 'date' in bash. There are no error logs. I change the date with 'date --set' in bash. The response confirms the changed date. I run 'date' and the incorrect date is shown. There are no error logs. I start the ntpd service and /var/log/messages shows success with 'time reset -915.720139s'. The date remains unchanged. ntpq -p shows three three time servers all have offsets of around -915 seconds. I stop ntpd service and try 'ntpd -gqx' and get the same result as above - success, but a large negative time reset. I've tried varying combinations of the above, and a few more settings in System|Administration|Date & Time - no change. I just need to reset the system time to GMT. No offset. But I can't wait for ntpd to slew the time over the next few weeks. Any advice is welcome, cheers! Sure this shouldn't be this difficult... Mark...

  • Jasper Report doc export margin problem

    Hi there, Im using Jasper Reports to generate a word (docx) document but I have a problem when I want to try to print the doc. The exporter messes up the margins of the page. Does anyone know how to prevent that from happening. I know how to set the margin in iReport, but it just makes the data generate further from the page borders, but the margins in word which can be adjusted at the top of the page is laying right at the edge.     I am using the following bits of code to keep my menu items fixed while allowing for the scrolling of content because it seems to be the most stable method across all browsers. body { overflow: hidden; } div.content { height: 100%; overflow: auto; } My problem is simple, and yet I can not seem to figure it out, the content inside the tag butts up against the scrollbar for the div area and it makes reading much more difficult. How can I get a margin between them (apart from floating a transparent image to the right to create space, there HAS to be a better way)?

    If you have Text with a font that is 72 point for example (and scaleX scaleY = 1) you can achieve the same size with a font size of 12 and scaleX,scaleY = 6. For reasons that would take too long to explain I am applying a large scale factor as in the latter example. The problem is, even though the text is the same size, the line spacing and left and top margins have all been increased but I want them to be the same size as well. As far as the line spacing, I discovered that TextFormat.leading was being automatically increased when scaleX, scaleY was greater than 1, so I just had to reset TextFormat.leading back to 0. That leaves the left and top margins, and I have no idea how those are being increased. I tried TextFormat.blockIndent=0 and TextFormat.leftMargin=0 (and also ingnorePadding=true) and it had no effect. And have no clue how to reset the top margin either to its orginal size, in case anyone has an idea for all these.

    I have a bindable getter in a component which informs me when a [hidden] timer is running. I also have a context menu which, if this timer is running, should disable one of the menu items. Is it possible to create a ChangeWatcher which watches for the negative condition of a bindable property/getter and changes the enabled property of the menu item? Here are the basic methods I'm trying to bind together: Class A: [Bindable] public function get isPlaying():Boolean { return (_timer != null) ? _timer.running : false; } Class B: private var _playingWatcher:ChangeWatcher; public function createContextMenu():void { //...blah blah, creating context menu var newItem:ContextMenuItem = new ContextMenuItem(); _playingWatcher = BindingUtils.bindProperty(newItem, "enabled", _classA, "isPlaying"); } In the code above, I have the inverse case: when isPlaying() is true, the menu item is enabled; I want it to only be enabled when the condition is false. I could create a second getter (there are other bindings which rely on the current getter) to return the inverse condition, but that sounds ugly to me: [Bindable] public function get isNotPlaying():Boolean { return !isPlaying; } Is this possible, or is there another approach I'm completely missing?

This occurs on Google Chrome 5.0.375.70 beta on Linux. (And it seems to occur on other Webkit-based browsers too.) How can I get rid of the space?

    Hello all, I'm trying to parse some returned html to look for currently playing movies. The pattern I'm trying to match looks like: <span dir=ltr>Clash of the Titans</span> Of which there are several in the returned html. (the html is huge, I've posted a sample at the bottom) I'm trying get an array of the movie titles with the following command: titles = listings_html.split(/(<span dir=ltr>).*(<\/span>)/) But I'm not getting the results I'm expecting. Can anyone see a problem with my approach or regex?   • How do I remove the top margin in a web page?

    I have had this problem with every web page I have created. There is always a top margin above the 'main container' div I use to place my content in the center of the page. I am using a css style sheet and have set margins and padding in the body to 0px and set the margin and padding to 0 in the div: body{ margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; padding: 0; color: black; font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif; background-color: #E2E2E2;} div.mainContainer{ height: auto; width: 68em; background-color: #FFFFFF; margin: 0 auto; padding: 0;} I have looked online many times, but all I can see to do is set these margin and padding attributes. Is there something else I should be doing? The margin exists in IE and Firefox.

  • CSS: Chrome and Safari seem to 'add' border to width, while IE, Firefox & Opera don't

    Hey guys, I'm trying to achieve cross-browser consistency for my website, but I have been trying all day now and its driving me nuts (0.38 am here in Europe now..). It's about this page: http://www[insert-dot-here]geld[insert-dash-here]surfen[insert-dot-here]nl/uitbetalingen.html (please note that I prefer this URL not to be made crawlable for seo-bots) If you view this page in IE, Firefox or Opera, everything is fine, but in Chrome and Safari the tables are a little out of line (as you'll probably clearly notice). What seems to be the problem?; it appears to me that in Chrome and Safari the left and right border (2px) in total are added to the set table width, while in the other browsers the border is considered part of the width. The (most) relevant CSS-lines are the following ones (from the tabel.css-file, also available through the page's source file): table.uitbetaling { margin: 11px 18px 10px 19px; border: 1px solid #8ccaee; width: 498px; padding: 0; } table.uitbetaling img, table.uitbetaling td { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; width: 496px; } table.uitbetaling tr { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0 1px 0 0; } So basically I have used a table-structure to organize images, like this; (the class of the table is 'uitbetaling') <table> <tr><td><img /></td></tr> <tr><td><img /></td></tr> ... <tr><td><img /></td></tr> </table> If, here, I set the width of 'table.uitbetaling' and 'table.uitbetaling img, table.uitbetaling td' to the same value (e.g. both 496 or 498), the 'problem' in Chrome and Safari is solved, however in Firefox the right side border is than blank. Because the right-side border can't 'fit' in anymore. 'img' and 'td' must be at least 2px more narrow than 'table.uitbetaling' for the right-border be visible in Firefox.     Hello there. I'm trying to put an x-repeat "grid" of images by using background-image in CSS, then using the id in a DIV tag. My intention is to put a sort of "panel", then always extends to the very top of the page, and loops with repeat-x. It works just fine without a DOCTYPE, but when I put the clean in the code, it pushes the image in the tag downwards, as if there's a margin on the top of the page of about 15 px or so. I tried top-margin, z-index, with no success. Excuse me if I'm asking a silly question, but I'm sort of new. Thanks, -Jacob

This allows me to specify the type of the sqlParameter, but it requires another line to set the value. It's nice to use the AddWithValue function, but it skips the "specify the parameter type" step. I'm guessing this causes the parameters to be sent over as strings contained within single quotes (''), but I'm not sure. Is this the case, and does this cause significantly slower performance of the stored procedures? Note: I understand that it is nice to validate user data on the .NET side of things by specifying the data type for params -- I'm only concerned about reflection-type overhead of AddWithValue either on the .NET or SQL side.

  • Double buffering with C# has negative effect

    I have written the following simple program, which draws lines on the screen every 100 milliseconds (triggered by timer1). I noticed that the drawing flickers a bit (that is, the window is not always completely blue, but some gray shines through). So my idea was to use double-buffering. But when I did that, it made things even worse. Now the screen was almost always gray, and only occasionally did the blue color come through (demonstrated by timer2, switching the DoubleBuffered property every 2000 milliseconds).   • CSS Margin/Padding Issue on Browser Zoom

    I am having difficulty getting my page to show up correctly at various browser zoom settings. http://andstones.ca/newsite The content is aligned if the user is zoomed out on the page, but once they zoom too far out and refresh the page, or if they are too zoomed in and the page loads, then the content pane is shifted. This does not seem to be an issue in firefox, but it is a very serious issue in chrome/safari/iexplore and on the iPad. What can I do to ensure that the main content loads in the correct position regardless of user browser settings? Thanks , Kory

  • AJAX ModalPopup Pops Behind (Under) Page Content (Negative z-index)

    I am having an issue with the AJAX ModalPopupExtender in version 40412 of the AJAX Control Toolkit (http://ajaxcontroltoolkit.codeplex.com/releases/view/43475). The first time the ModalPopup is made visible it works correctly. The z-index is set to 6001 (and the background Div's z-index is set to 6000) and the Popup appears above everything else. If the cancel button within the ModalPopup is clicked, it also has the correct functionality, the display is set to "none" and the ModalPopup is no longer visible. However, when the Popup is triggered again, the z-index is only set to 2000 which is still visible above everything else, but if it is canceled and triggered again it is set to -2000 which is not visible (the z-index is decreasing by 4000 each time). I'm not sure why this is happening. Any ideas how to fix it? Special circumstances: There are multiple ModalPopup's on the page. All ModalPopups are triggered in code-behind through partial-page postbacks (using the .Show() method) ModalPopupExtenders are within the same UpdatePanels that are displayed as popups

    Hello, I wrote a little program that solves 49151 sudoku's within an hour for an assignment, but we had to time it. I thought I'd just let it run and then check the execution time, but it says -1536.087 s. I'm guessing it has to do with the timer being some signed dataype or something, but I have no idea what datatype is used for the timer in the console (code::blocks console, I'm not sure if this is actually a separate console, or just a runner that runs the terminal from the local operating system), so I can't check what the real time was. I'd rather not run this again with some coded timer within my program, since I'd like to be able to use my pc again now. Anybody have any idea what this time could be? It should be somewhere between 40 and 50 minutes, so between 2400 and 3000 seconds. Regards, Erik

    Modifying the Snake example. An exception was created from the bitmap class. So I debug the original Snake, and found that in TileView there is a function loadTile, Bitmap bitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(mTileSize, mTileSize, Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888); after the above assignment, the bitmap had -1 for mHeight and mWidth. Then how does the Snake even work? I am just use the Eclipse and the virtual machine, not a real android phone.
