  • recursive program

    - by wilson88
    I am trying to make a recursive program that calculates interest per year.It prompts the user for the startup amount (1000), the interest rate (10%)and number of years(1).(in brackets are samples) Manually I realised that the interest comes from the formula YT(1 + R)----- interest for the first year which is 1100. 2nd year YT(1 + R/2 + R2/2) //R squared 2nd year YT(1 + R/3 + R2/3 + 3R3/) // R cubed How do I write a recursive program that will calculate the interest? Below is the function which I tried //Latest after editing double calculateInterest2(double start, double rate, int duration) { if (0 == duration) { return start; } else { return (1+rate) * calculateInterest2(start, rate, duration - 1); } }

  • Recursive Functions for Beginners?

    - by cam
    I'm looking for a few recursive function examples, preferably ones that show increase in complexity. I understand basic recursive functions, but I'm having trouble implementing them in my code. I've never used them in my code before, and I know it doesn't always call for it, but I'd like to try. Is there a good resource with examples, and maybe challenges of some sort? Or even some simple math problems (Project Euler-style?) that I could use recursion on? For examples, I prefer C#, but anything works.

  • Get recursive data with sql server

    - by user228777
    I am trying to get recursive data. Following code returns all parents on the top and then the children. I would like to get data Parent 1 – his children then parent 2 - his children then parent3 – his children. How do I do this? USE Subscriber GO WITH Parent (ParentId, Id, Name,subscriberID) AS ( -- Anchor member definition SELECT A.ParentId,A.id, A.name,A.SubscriberId FROM Subscriber.Budget.SubscriberCategory AS A WHERE ParentId IS NULL UNION ALL -- Recursive member definition SELECT B.ParentId, B.id, B.name,B.SubscriberId FROM Subscriber.Budget.SubscriberCategory AS B INNER JOIN Parent AS P ON B.ParentId = P.Id ) -- Statement that executes the CTE SELECT parentId, id, name FROM Parent where subscriberID = '1C18093B-5031-42E4-9251-CEF69114365F' GO

  • What does this recursive function do?

    - by null
    What does this function do? And how do you evaluate it? How to trace it? How to understand recursive method? I just can't understand the recursion, and the exam date is coming soon, and I know in order to understand recursion, I must first understand recursion. But I just can't write a slightly complex recursive method, can anyone help me out using the simplest English words. public class BalancedStrings { public static void printBalanced(String prefix, int a, int b) { if (a > 0) printBalanced(prefix + "a", a - 1, b); if (b > 0) printBalanced(prefix + "b", a, b - 1); if (a == 0 && b == 0) System.out.println(prefix); } public static void printBalanced(int n) { if (n % 2 == 0) { printBalanced("", n / 2, n / 2); } } public static void main(String[] args) { printBalanced(4); } }

I want to add my IP address to the security group. https://ec2.amazonaws.com/ ?Action=AuthorizeSecurityGroupIngress &GroupName=grppp20 &GroupId=sg-b2z982mq &IpPermissions.1.IpProtocol=tcp &IpPermissions.1.FromPort=3389 &IpPermissions.1.ToPort=3389 &IpPermissions.1.IpRanges.1.CidrIp=22.951.17.728/32 &&AWSAccessKeyId=AOPLDRACULALK6U7A And i get the following error. AWS was not able to validate the provided access credentials I have a secret access key & a username. I searched internet & found that we have to make a signature of the secret key & use it in the request instead of adding it directly. • JavaOne 2012 Call for Papers

    - by Tori Wieldt
    JavaOne 2012 is happening Sept. 30-Oct 4 in San Francisco. The Call For Papers for this conference is now open. Java Evangelist Arun Gupta, who was on one of the selection committees and will be again this year, provided some great tips for submission (and a peek into the submission process): JavaOne is a technology-focused conference so any product, marketing or seemingly marketish talk are put at the bottom of the list. Oracle Open World and Oracle Develop are better options for submitting product specific talks. Make your title catchy. Remember the attendees are more likely to read the abstract if they like the title. We try our best to recategorize the talk to a different track if it needs to but please ensure that you are filing in the right track to have all the right eyeballs looking at it. Also, it does not hurt marking an alternate track if your talk meets the criteria. Make sure to coordinate within your team before the submission - multiple sessions from the same team or company does not ensure that the best speaker is picked. In such case we rely upon your "google presence" and/or review committee's prior knowledge of the speaker. The reviewers may not know you or your product at all and you get 750 characters to pitch your idea. Make sure to use all of them, to the last 750th character. Make sure to read your abstract multiple times to ensure that you are giving all the relevant information ? Think through your presentation and see if you are leaving out any important aspects. Also look if the abstract has any redundant information that will not required by the reviewers. There are additional sections that allow you to share information about the speaker and the presentation summary. Use them to blow the horn about yourself and any other relevant details. Please don't say "call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx to find out the details." :-) The tracks this year are: Core Java Platform Development Tools and Techniques Emerging Langauges on the JVM Enterprise Services Architectures and the Cloud Java EE Web Profile and Platform Technologies Java ME, Java Card, Embedded, and Devices Java FX and Rich User Experiences IMPORTANT: Submit your proposal as soon as possible, the the Call for Papers closes April 9th, a mere three weeks away!  Follow these channels to get the latest news about #JavaOne 2012.  originally posted on blogs.oracle.com/javaone

  • How to use call web service action in SharePoint2013 workflow

    - by ybbest
    In SharePoint2013, you can use call web service action and loop. In this post, I will show you how to achieve this. 1. Create a List workflow called CallWebService 2. Create a variable called listurl and assign the value to http://sp2010/_vti_bin/listdata.svc 3. Create a dictionary variable called RequestHeaders and add the following key value pairs. 4. Call the web service with the HttpHeaders you just build in the previous step and store the response in the variable ResponseContent. 5. The ResponseContent variable is the Dynamic values (in SharePoint designer it will be called dictionary type) and it is new feature for SharePoint2013 workflow. We can use the following actions to count the number items in the variable. 6. You can use loop in SharePoint 2013 workflow and out each list title as shown below.

  • can't see myself in Skype video call

    - by seb
    I'm running 12.04 and I've installed skype via the software centre. As with 11.10 everything works fine with 12.04 as well. There is only one thing that does not work. I can't see myself in Skype video calls. The video call works fine, I can see the other side the other side can see me. Buid in microphone works. If I click on 'show myself' during the video call nothing happens. I know that it works on Ubuntu in general as I had it working a while back on a different machine (Xubuntu 11.04). Could that be related to the GPU? I'm now on a intel/nvidia one. Any Ideas where I can hunt for some options or tweaking?

  • Don't Call it a Comeback

    - by Chris Haaker
    I received the email like most of you about Jeff and crew stepping down and selling the blog to another company. That it is a long time associate and friend of the team we have all grown to know and love, I feel much better about the move. Who cares, Chris, you haven't blogged religiously in ages! I know, and its a crime. Blame life, Twitter, my kids, laziness or whatever else you can think of. I always tell myself I am going to make a comeback - - "Don't call it a comeback - I been here for years." But after a few posts I seem to lose my steam. Its hard to explain, hell, I can't explain it. But we'll see what happens this time. Just don't call it a comeback.  2012 rMBP 15" Quad Core 2.33 GHz 16GB Memory 258GB SSDMarsEdit 3.5 (Please Microsoft Live Team - Make LiveWriter for OS X)

  • Create an Asynchronous JAX-WS Web Service and call it from Oracle BPEL 11g

    - by Bob Webster
    This posting is the result of a simple requirement to take an existing JAX-WS Web service,convert it to be asynchronous and call it from Oracle BPEL 11g It turned out that this is not a trivial task... BPEL has some very specific expectations about the WSDL for an asynchronous process. One approach is to develop the service starting from a WSDL document that meets BPEL's requirements. This is possible but requires considerable WSDL authoring skills. The other approach is to modify the WSDL generated by Web Service Annotations in Java code (Bottom up development) and instruct JAX-WS to use that WSDL instead of dynamically generating one from annotations. This is the approach taken in this article. This posting details how to: Modify a JAX-WS Web Service developed using a "Bottom up " approach to have an asynchronous method and callback. Call the Asynchronous Service from Oracle BPEL 11g. Read the full posting here.

  • XNA When to call LoadContent

    - by Peteyslatts
    I have an enum in my game that denotes the game state ie MainMenu, InGame, GameOver, Exit and I was wondering if it would be advisable to add a new one in for PrepGame - in which the game creates viewports for however many players there are, creates the battlefield etc. I feel like this is a good idea except for one thing: should I make a call back to LoadContent() in this state? I could just put a switch statement in the LoadContent for my currentGameState. If it equals PrepGame load things like the skybox, ship models, texures, HUD graphics etc. Or is it a good idea to create an Asset Manager class in the first call to LoadContent() and load everything then. I feel like both approaches have different benefits: faster, but more load times vs slower initial load time, but then all my objects are referencing the same variables so I only have to load each on once. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Peter

  • Cocos2d Box2d contact listener call different method in collided object

    - by roma86
    I have the building object, wen it hit with other, i want to call some method inside it. Building.mm -(void)printTest { NSLog(@"printTest method work correctly"); } in my ContactListener i trying to call it so: ContactListener.mm #import "ContactListener.h" #import "Building.h" void ContactListener::BeginContact(b2Contact* contact) { b2Body* bodyA = contact->GetFixtureA()->GetBody(); b2Body* bodyB = contact->GetFixtureB()->GetBody(); Building *buildA = (Building *)bodyA->GetUserData(); Building *buildB = (Building *)bodyB->GetUserData(); if (buildB.tag == 1) { NSLog(@"tag == 1"); } if (buildA.tag == 2) { NSLog(@"tag == 2"); [buildA printTest]; } } NSLog(@"tag == 2"); work correctly, but [buildA printTest]; get error Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[CCSprite printTest]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x18595f0' Obviously I'm referring to the wrong object. How i can get different method and property in contacted objects from contactlistener class? Thanks.

  • Vocabulary: Should I call this apply or map?

    - by Carlos Vergara
    So, I'm tasked with organizing the code and building a library with all the common code among our products. One thing that seems to happen all the time and I wanted to abstract is posted below in pseudocode, and I don't know how to call it (different products have different domain specific implementations and names for it) list function idk_what_to_name_it ( list list_of_callbacks, value common_parameter ): list list_of_results = new list for_each(callback in list_of_callbacks) list_of_results.push(callback(common_parameter)) end for_each return list_of_results end function Would you call this specific construct a list ListOfCallbacks.Map( value value_to_map) method or would it better be value Value.apply(list list_of_callbacks) I'm really curious about this kind of thing. Is there a standard guide for this stuff?

  • how to call a view method to a model in zendframework

    - by Awais Qarni
    hello I just want to ask whether we can call a view method to a model? I know that we can call it on our controller in zend framework. Like if I want to call the url method of view on my controller I can call it like this $this->view->url(array(),''); and on the view we just can call it by $this->url(array(),''); But When I tried to call the same method on my model by $this->view->url(array(),''); it generates an error of call to undefined method url. Now I want to ask whether it is possible to call view method to a model? If yes then how? What Am I doing wrong. Thanks

  • Call instance method with objc_msgSend

    - by user772349
    I'm trying to use the objc_msgSend method to call some method dynamically. Say I want call some method in Class B from Class A and there are two methods in class B like: - (void) instanceTestWithStr1:(NSString *)str1 str2:(NSString *)str1; + (void) methodTestWithStr1:(NSString *)str1 str2:(NSString *)str1; And I can call the class method like this in Class A successfully: objc_msgSend(objc_getClass("ClassB"), sel_registerName("methodTestWithStr1:str2:"), @"111", @"222"); And I can call the instance method like this in Class A successfully as well: objc_msgSend([[objc_getClass("ClassB") alloc] init], sel_registerName("instanceTestWithStr1:str2:"), @"111", @"222"); But the thing is to get a instance of Class B I have to call "initWithXXXXX:XXXXXX:XXXXXX" instead of "init" so that to pass some necessary parameters to class B to do the init stuff. So I stored a instance of ClassB in class A as variable: self.classBInstance = [[ClassB alloc] initWithXXXXX:XXXXXX:XXXXXX]; And then I call the method like this (successfully): The problem is, I want to call a method by simply applying the classname and the method sel like "ClassName" and "SEL" and then call it dynamically: If it's a class method. then call it like: objc_msgSend(objc_getClass("ClassName"), sel_registerName("SEL")); If it's a instance method, find the existing class instance variable in the calling class then: objc_msgSend([self.classInstance, sel_registerName("SEL")); So I want to know if there is any way to: Check if a class has a given method (I found "responseToSelector" will be the one) Check if a given method in class method or instance method (maybe can use responseToSelector as well) Check if a class has a instance variable of a given class So I can call a instance method like: objc_msgSend(objc_getClassInstance(self, "ClassB"), sel_registerName("SEL"));

  • Serious about Embedded: Java Embedded @ JavaOne 2012

    - by terrencebarr
    It bears repeating: More than ever, the Java platform is the best technology for many embedded use cases. Java’s platform independence, high level of functionality, security, and developer productivity address the key pain points in building embedded solutions. Transitioning from 16 to 32 bit or even 64 bit? Need to support multiple architectures and operating systems with a single code base? Want to scale on multi-core systems? Require a proven security model? Dynamically deploy and manage software on your devices? Cut time to market by leveraging code, expertise, and tools from a large developer ecosystem? Looking for back-end services, integration, and management? The Java platform has got you covered. Java already powers around 10 billion devices worldwide, with traditional desktops and servers being only a small portion of that. And the ‘Internet of Things‘ is just really starting to explode … it is estimated that within five years, intelligent and connected embedded devices will outnumber desktops and mobile phones combined, and will generate the majority of the traffic on the Internet. Is your platform and services strategy ready for the coming disruptions and opportunities? It should come as no surprise that Oracle is keenly focused on Java for Embedded. At JavaOne 2012 San Francisco the dedicated track for Java ME, Java Card, and Embedded keeps growing, with 52 sessions, tutorials, Hands-on-Labs, and BOFs scheduled for this track alone, plus keynotes, demos, booths, and a variety of other embedded content. To further prove Oracle’s commitment, in 2012 for the first time there will be a dedicated sub-conference focused on the business aspects of embedded Java: Java Embedded @ JavaOne. This conference will run for two days in parallel to JavaOne in San Francisco, will have its own business-oriented track and content, and targets C-level executives, architects, business leaders, and decision makers. Registration and Call For Papers for Java Embedded @ JavaOne are now live. We expect a lot of interest in this new event and space is limited, so be sure to submit your paper and register soon. Hope to see you there! Cheers, – Terrence Filed under: Mobile & Embedded Tagged: ARM, Call for Papers, Embedded Java, Java Embedded, Java Embedded @ JavaOne, Java ME, Java SE Embedded, Java SE for Embedded, JavaOne San Francisco, PowerPC
