  • Sticky connection and HTTPS support for HAProxy

    - by Saif
Hi Mates, We have 2 HTTP Load balancer with HAproxy and heartbeat. There are 4 apache nodes in this cluster. It's doing round robin load balancing. The HTTP cluster working fine. We are having problem with our portal because it uses SSO. We need sticky connection support in our HAproxy. Also we need load balancing for HTTPS traffic. Here's our HAproxy conf file. global # to have these messages end up in /var/log/haproxy.log you will # need to: # # 1) configure syslog to accept network log events. • Howo to get Multipath IO with Dell MD3600i into active/active setup?

I'm desperately trying to improve performance of my SAN connection. My questions being; why the connection is set up as 'ghost' and not 'ready' like an active/active configuration ?

  • Linux NIC Bonding Issue (CentOS 4 / RHEL 3)

    - by jinanwow
I am having an issue with bonding NICs on CentOS 4. It appears the bonding driver does work, but it is stuck in round-robin mode and I am trying to get to active-backup. The current config is: ifcfg-bond0 DEVICE=bond0 IPADDR=192.168.204.18 NETMASK=255.255.255.0 ONBOOT=yes BOOTPROTO=none USERCTL=no TYPE=Bonding BONDING_OPTS="mode=1 miimon=100" ifcfg-eth1 DEVICE=eth1 BOOTPROTO=none ONBOOT=yes TYPE=Ethernet MASTER=bond0 SLAVE=yes ifcfg-eth3 DEVICE=eth3 ONBOOT=yes BOOTPROTO=none TYPE=Ethernet MASTER=bond0 SLAVE=yes cat /proc/net/bonding/bond0 Ethernet Channel Bonding Driver: v2.6.3-rh (June 8, 2005) Bonding Mode: load balancing (round-robin) MII Status: up MII Polling Interval (ms): 0 Up Delay (ms): 0 Down Delay (ms): 0 Slave Interface: eth1 MII Status: up Link Failure Count: 0 Permanent HW addr: 00:17:a4:8f:94:b1 Slave Interface: eth3 MII Status: up Link Failure Count: 0 Permanent HW addr: 00:1b:21:56:b8:69 cat /etc/modprobe.conf alias eth0 tg3 alias eth1 tg3 alias eth3 e1000 alias eth2 e1000 alias bond0 bonding options bond0 mode=1 miimon=100 I have tried moving the bonding information out of the ifcfg-bond0 into the modprobe configuration file. It seems that it is stuck in RR and I am trying to get it into the Active-backup (mode 1) state. Any ideas what would be causing this issue?

  • How to best tune my SAN/Initiators for best performance?

    - by Disco
    Recent owner of a Dell PowerVault MD3600i i'm experiencing some weird results. I have a dedicated 24x 10GbE Switch (PowerConnect 8024), setup to jumbo frames 9K. The MD3600 has 2 RAID controllers, each has 2x 10GbE ethernet nics. There's nothing else on the switch; one VLAN for SAN traffic. Here's my multipath.conf defaults { udev_dir /dev polling_interval 5 selector "round-robin 0" path_grouping_policy multibus getuid_callout "/sbin/scsi_id -g -u -s /block/%n" prio_callout none path_checker readsector0 rr_min_io 100 max_fds 8192 rr_weight priorities failback immediate no_path_retry fail user_friendly_names yes # prio rdac } blacklist { device { vendor "*" product "Universal Xport" } # devnode "^sd[a-z]" } devices { device { vendor "DELL" product "MD36xxi" path_grouping_policy group_by_prio prio rdac # polling_interval 5 path_checker rdac path_selector "round-robin 0" hardware_handler "1 rdac" failback immediate features "2 pg_init_retries 50" no_path_retry 30 rr_min_io 100 prio_callout "/sbin/mpath_prio_rdac /dev/%n" } } And iscsid.conf : node.startup = automatic node.session.timeo.replacement_timeout = 15 node.conn[0].timeo.login_timeout = 15 node.conn[0].timeo.logout_timeout = 15 node.conn[0].timeo.noop_out_interval = 5 node.conn[0].timeo.noop_out_timeout = 10 node.session.iscsi.InitialR2T = No node.session.iscsi.ImmediateData = Yes node.session.iscsi.FirstBurstLength = 262144 node.session.iscsi.MaxBurstLength = 16776192 node.conn[0].iscsi.MaxRecvDataSegmentLength = 262144 After my tests; i can barely come to 200 Mb/s read/write. Should I expect more than that ? Providing it has dual 10 GbE my thoughts where to come around the 400 Mb/s. Any ideas ? Guidelines ? Troubleshooting tips ?

  • Apache httpd workers retry

    - by David Newcomb
I have an Apache httpd web server running mod_proxy and mod_proxy_balancer. The whole of /somedir is sent to 2 worker machines which service the requests using the round robin scheduler. Each worker machine is running IIS but I don't think that is important. I can demonstrate the load balancer working by repeatedly requesting a single page which contains the IP address of the machine and can see that it switches from one to the other in a predictable round robin fashion. If I switch off one of the IIS servers and start requesting the same page then each page only contains the IP address of the machine that is up. However, if I start IIS and don't run my IIS application then /somedir returns 500 (as it should). I've added 500 to the failonstatus (Apache 2.4) so when it hits the error Apache places the worker machine into error state. Apache still returns the proxy error to the client though. How can I make Apache catch the proxy failure and retry using a different worker in the same way that a connection failure does. Update There is almost the same question asked in StackOverflow so joining them together. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11083707/httpd-mod-proxy-balancer-failover-failonstatus-transperant-switching

  • Insert record in Linq to Sql

    - by Anders Svensson
    Is this the easiest way to insert a record with Linq to Sql when there's a many-to-many relationship, or is there a better/cleaner way? I wasn't sure why things weren't working at first, but when I added a second SubmitChanges() it worked. Why was this necessary? Would be grateful if someone could clarify this a bit! private void InsertNew() { UserPageDBDataContext context = new UserPageDBDataContext(); User user = new User(); ManyToMany.Model.Page page = new ManyToMany.Model.Page(); user.Name = "Madde Andersson"; page.Url = "anderscom/references"; context.Users.InsertOnSubmit(user); context.Pages.InsertOnSubmit(page); context.SubmitChanges(); UserPage userPage = new UserPage(); userPage.UserID = user.UserID; userPage.PageID = page.PageID; user.UserPages.Add(userPage); context.SubmitChanges(); }

  • Failure connecting to Dell MD3200i from XenServer 6.2 pool

    - by Tom Sparrow
This question also asked at Citrix Forums http://forums.citrix.com/thread.jspa?threadID=332289 I have a MD3200i that is currently working fine with my Xen5.6 pool, but I cannot get a connection to the new 6.2 pool to work. I previously had a problem with a 6.0 upgrade (which is why the old pool is still on 5.6), but rolled back rather than fix it as it wasn't urgent at the time. This install is on new machines - I tried 6.1 first (which had the same problems) then 6.2 was released the second day after installation so I switched to that. I've not installed anything from the Dell resource DVD at this point - I can't find anything saying I should, and everything I have read suggests it shouldn't be necessary. I can ping all 8 ip addresses from both servers in the pool, iscsiadm -m discovery works fine, I can login to the nodes and iscsiadm reports the sessions active correctly. I've added the required sections to multipath.conf, but multipath -ll reports DM multipath kernel driver not loaded immediately after boot. The following is a log of a test session immediately after boot. root@xen3 ~]# iscsiadm -m node --loginall=all Logging in to [iface: default, target: • DBRD dual primary Heartbeat resource management

    - by Jon Skarpeteig
I have the following setup: Two servers with DRBD running dual primary with OCFS2 Heartbeat with two virtual ips, one for each server Round robin DNS to load balance NFS across the two vIPs Shutting down Server1 for a period of time, cause Server2 to take over the vIP for failover. However, when Server1 returns - it takes over the designated vIP as soon as heartbeat gets connection again - even though the DRBD is running sync (and thus not up to date) How can I configure heartbeat to perform failback as soon as Server1 again is in sync with Server2 ? (And not before)

  • Server and Application architecture for large outgoing email volume.

    - by Ezequiel
Hi, we need to develop an application to send large amount of emails (newsletters) We estimate 15 millions of emails per month (6 - 10 emails per seconds). Would you recommend me the proper architecture for this application? should we have several MTA agents and use them in a round robin fashion? What considerations should we take on account to not being treated as spammers (its really not spam what we are going to send). Thanks for your help. Ezequiel

  • Ubuntu Touch Porting - Audio

    - by user205695
I'm currenty trying to port Ubuntu Touch to the Galaxy s4 International LTE (GI9505/ jfltexx). I've come to the point where I need to create a UCM directory but I don't know where and how I should call it. By "looking at /usr/share/alsa/ucm/apq8064-tabla-snd-card/" is the local Ubuntu PC directory or a directory on the downloaded CM meant? Same thing for "/proc/asound/cards" which should give a hint about what the directory should be called. 0 [PCH ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH HDA Intel PCH at 0xfb200000 irq 51 1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia HDA NVidia at 0xfb080000 irq 17 I dont think the directory should be called anything like this. Thanks for the help Robin Kertels

  • SQL SERVER – Integration Services Balanced Data Distributor – SSIS Balanced Data Distributor

    - by pinaldave
Microsoft SSIS Balanced Data Distributor (BDD) is a new SSIS transform. This transform takes a single input and distributes the incoming rows to one or more outputs uniformly via multithreading. The transform takes one pipeline buffer worth of rows at a time and moves it to the next output in a round robin fashion. It’s balanced and synchronous so if one of the downstream transforms or destinations is slower than the others, the rest of the pipeline will stall so this transform works best if all of the outputs have identical transforms and destinations. • Using multiple A-records for my domain - do web browsers ever try more than one?

    - by Jonas
If I add multiple A-records for my domain, they are returned in a round robin order by DNS-servers. E.g: 1.1.1.1 A example.com 1.1.1.2 A example.com 1.1.1.3 A example.com But how does webbrowsers react if the first host (1.1.1.1) is down (unreachable)? do they try the second host (1.1.1.2) or do they return a error message to the user? Are there any difference between the most popular browsers? If I implement my own application, I can implement so that the second is used in case the first is down, so it's possible. And this would be very helpful to create a fault tolerant website.

  • What You Said: Your Favorite Windows Customization Tricks

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
Earlier this week we asked you to share your favorite Windows customization tricks and now we’re back to highlight some of the tips, tricks, and tweaks you shared. Your customization tips ranged from cosmetic to behind the scenes tweaks and offered a wide variety of ways to customize the Windows experience. Ted Lilley’s favorite must-have tweak involves Windows Explorer: The most fundamental change I make to Windows 7 is to immediately add tabs to Explorer via the QTTabbar add-on. I also add the good old cut/copy/paste/delete/new folder buttons alongside the tabs by installing Classic Shell (I skip Classic Start). • WCF Keep Alive: Whether to disable keepAliveEnabled

    - by Lijo
I have a WCF web service hosted in a load balanced environment. I do not need any WCF session related functionality in the service. QUESTION What are the scenarios in which performances will be best if keepAliveEnabled = false keepAliveEnabled = true Reference From Load Balancing By default, the BasicHttpBinding sends a connection HTTP header in messages with a Keep-Alive value, which enables clients to establish persistent connections to the services that support them. This configuration offers enhanced throughput because previously established connections can be reused to send subsequent messages to the same server. However, connection reuse may cause clients to become strongly associated to a specific server within the load-balanced farm, which reduces the effectiveness of round-robin load balancing. If this behavior is undesirable, HTTP Keep-Alive can be disabled on the server using the KeepAliveEnabled property with a CustomBinding or user-defined Binding.

  • Algorithm to Solve Most of a Problem

    - by Mike G
I need an Algorithm/Design Pattern that allows me to try to get the maximum number of rules followed. So I have a couple teams and I need to pair them with a referee and against each other into a round robin. There a rules on who can compete with who and who can judge who so I need to find the configuration that satisfies the most of these. Some rules are more important than others and are "worth more" when evaluating "what satisfies the most of them" There probably isn't a algorithm for this, but is there a design pattern that could help me maximize my chances of finding this configuration?

Recruiter letter for a technical position: ... Do you have any disabilities that prevent you from successfully performing the essential functions of this job with or without accommodations? ... My response: Robin -- The only qualification I can see as a hiderence to my ability to perform is my lack of fingers.  I find that if I mash the keyboard enough with my stubs, I eventually can get the code to compile correctly. Will this be a problem?   Thank you,George Her response: [None] So much for being an equal opportunity employer, eh?

  • New Survey Findings: Application Intelligence and Connected Devices - How do you Harness the Value

    - by Yolande Poirier
Oracle and Beecham have recently conducted a market survey on use of Connected Devices for M2M & Internet of Things (IoT) applications and new trends. This first session in our webinar series addresses intelligence in connected devices. Join Peter Utzschneider of Oracle and Robin Duke-Woolley of Beecham Research as they discuss: What are the key business drivers of your connected devices program? To what extent do you expect the intelligence required for M2M & IoT applications to change? Would these changes occur at the network edge, at the data center, or both? What are the impacts of these changes on ISV’s and device manufacturers? What are the opportunities for other M2M & IoT players?

  • doing a full permutation search and replace on a string

    - by user73307
I'm writing an app that does something like a custom number (licence) place generator tool where if I ask for the plate "robin" it will suggest I try: r0bin rob1n r0b1n Are there any published algorithms which can do this? It has to be able to handle replacing single letters with multiples, e.g. m with rn and vise-versa and not fall over if it replaces an i with an l then comes to check the l and replaces it back to an i. The list of what gets swapped with what is going to be user input but I'm not expecting a huge list, possibly 10 pairs at most. I'll be implementing this in Ruby or Python but I should be able to convert code from any other language.
