  • Remote desktop to particular server tries to send print job

    We have a domain network with about 30 computers and an active directory on Windows Server SBS 2003 32bit. Whenever I connect to this server from my Windows 7 Pro 32bit client, it automatically attempts to send some sort of print job. It fails to print however and the printer never seems to receive the job. I have been seeing this happen on every computer which connects to this particular server. It seems to send these print jobs repeatedly, and to different printers, if more than one are installed. As soon as I cancel one print job, it starts another, repeats a few times and finally stops. What could be going on here? PS - I originally thought this was related to MS OneNote but this turns out to happen on computers which do not have OneNote.

  • Send documents to printer without waiting for Vista to handle queue

    I got a print server on our old printer. Vista has its own queue which presents a problem. I want to bypass this queue and send everything straight away to the printer so the print server deals with the queue and not Vista. Problem is when a second document is being printed from the same computer after first one. Vista is still waiting for info on finishing the first job even 5 minutes after it was REALLY finished. How do I get it so that I can send straight to the print server and not have Vista slow things down by trying to handle the queue itself?

    I want to write a shell script which will attach to a named tmux session, select a window (or pane) in that session and run a command in that selected window (or pane). How do I do this from a bash script? I know tmux new-window -n:mywindow 'exec something' allows you to send commands to a freshly created window. But I need something like tmux select-window -t:0 'my command' I suppose I could use send-keys but seems like their should be something that takes a command or list of commands that get run.

I've seen in the rewrite log that Apache sets a sid (Session Identifier?) and rid (request identifier?) and shows them in the logs. Would it be possible to send the rid to the backend server as a http header? that way I can link a request in the apache with a request in the backend server. So, I did yum install expect, corrected the path and the error was gone. But not able to remove the other 3 errors still.

    Hi everyone. This post is incorrectly tagged 'send' since I cannot create new tags. I have a very basic question about this simple echo server. Here are some code snippets. client while True: data = raw_input("Enter data: ") mySock.sendall(data) echoedData = mySock.recv(1024) if not echoedData: break print echoedData server while True: print "Waiting for connection" (clientSock, address) = serverSock.accept() print "Entering read loop" while True: print "Waiting for data" data = clientSock.recv(1024) if not data: break clientSock.send(data) clientSock.close() Now this works alright, except when the client sends an empty string (by hitting the return key in response to "enter data: "), in which case I see some deadlock-ish behavior. Now, what exactly happens when the user presses return on the client side? I can only imagine that the sendall call blocks waiting for some data to be added to the send buffer, causing the recv call to block in turn. What's going on here? Thanks for reading!

    I have postfix set up for use as an STMP server to send mail for my domain, but I receive email for the domain via gmail/google apps. The reason I use my own postfix is because I send out a lot of transactional emails to my customers using a web app, and the volume would exceed what google allows with its SMTP servers. Everything works fine, except cron & system mail gets routed to local users on the server, not to the appropriate accounts at google mail. How can I route this system mail to the respective google mail accounts instead?

There also exists a Standard Distribution list named [email protected]. Is it possible to have some of the users being able to send email with [email protected] as the sender address? Can the sender's GECOS be different too when this happens so that the recipient sees "Offices of Example.com" instead of "User Name X"? Sometimes the secretaries need to send stuff as "the office" and not as theirselves ...

I don't need to receive, I just need to send. I can telnet example.com 25 successfully, I received the email in my inbox, but when I tried using in a email client. smtp: example.com:25 user: smtp1user password: smtp1userpassword I get an error that says "Server doesn't respond. Try changing the port." I dont know how to proceed.

  • Cron won't use msmtpd to send emails in case of failed cronjob

    I'm trying to configure a machine so that it will send me an email if one of the cronjobs output something in case of an error. I'm using Debian Wheezy. Cron is working normally (without the email functionality). msmtp is installed and configured. Have already symlinked /usr/{bin|sbin}/sendmail to /usr/bin/msmtpd. I can send email by using: echo "test" | mail -s "subject" [email protected] or by executing: echo "test" | /usr/sbin/sendmail Without the symlink (/usr/sbin/sendmail) cron will tell me that: (CRON) info (No MTA installed, discarding output) With the symlinks I get: (root) MAIL (mailed 1 byte of output; but got status 0x004e, #012) Can you suggest how to config the cron/msmtp pair?   • VS 2008 created shortcut doesn't show up in "Send To" menu

    I have a WinForms application built using Visual Studio 2008. I added a Setup Project to the solution to create an installation MSI file. I need the setup project to create a shortcut pointing to the application's executable in the users Send To Menu. This way when someone right clicks on a file, my application will show in the Send To list and be selected. I figured out under the file system settings of the Setup project how to add a shortcut to the Users Send To Menu. The problem is, the shortcut doesn't show in the Send To menu when you right click on a file. If I manually create a shortcut to my executable the application does show in the Send To menu. I have read many suggestions on the web to required registry entries for this to work. There is a VBS file written by Ramesh Srinivasan which inserts them. On every system I have tried this on the registry values already existed, so this is not the problem. It seems more to be with the shortcut Visual Studio (or the msi anyway) is creating.

    I have a problem with NTLM single-sign-on with IE8. We've got multiple domain controllers and users from multiple domains that we try to authenticate to a web application via NTLMv1 passthru. Somehow IE fails to send the user's domain in the NTLM Type 1 message. This has the effect that the webapp can not match users properly to their domain controllers, resulting in failed logon attempts, because a user from domain X tries to authenticate to domain controller Y. This problem does not occur with Firefox, as it always sends the correct domain header. So: how do I get IE to send the domain in the NTLM header?
