• Best Practices for High Volume CPA Import Operations with ebXML in B2B 11g

  Background B2B 11g supports ebXML messaging protocol, where multiple CPAs can be imported via command-line utilities.  This note highlights one aspect of the best practices for import of CPA, when large numbers of CPAs in the excess of several hundreds are required to be maintained within the B2B repository. Symptoms The import of CPA usually is a 2-step process, namely creating a soa.zip file using b2bcpaimport utility based on a CPA properties file and then using b2bimport to import the b2b repository.  The commands are provided below: ant -f ant-b2b-util.xml b2bcpaimport -Dpropfile="<Path to cpp_cpa.properties>" -Dstandard=true ant -f ant-b2b-util.xml b2bimport -Dlocalfile=true -Dexportfile="<Path to soa.zip>" -Doverwrite=true Usually the first command completes fairly quickly regardless of the number of CPAs in the repository. However, as the number of trading partners within the repository goes up, the time to complete the second command could go up to ~30 secs per operation. So, this could add up to a significant amount, if there is a need to import hundreds of CPA in a production system within a limited downtime, maintenance window.  Remedy In situations, where there is a large number of entries to be imported, it is best to setup a staging environment and go through the import operation of each individual CPA in an empty repository. Since, this will be done in an empty repository, the time taken for completion should be reasonable.  After all the partner profiles have been imported, a full repository export can be taken to capture the metadata for all the entries in one file.  If this single file with all the partner entries is imported in a loaded repository, the total time taken for import of all the CPAs should see a dramatic reduction. Results Let us take a look at the numbers to see the benefit of this approach. With a pre-loaded repository of ~400 partners, the individual import time for each entry takes ~30 secs. So, if we had to import another 100 partners, the individual entries will take ~50 minutes (100 times ~30 secs). On the other hand, if we prepare the repository export file of the same 100 partners from a staging environment earlier, the import takes about ~5 mins. The total processing time for the loading of metadata, specially in a production environment, can thus be shortened by almost a factor of 10.   class A { static int foo () {} // ok static int x; // <--- needed to be defined separately in .cpp file }; I don't see a need of having A::x defined separately in a .cpp file (or same file for templates). Why can't be A::x declared and defined at the same time? Has it been forbidden for historical reasons? My main question is, will it affect any functionality if static data members were declared/defined at the same time (same as Java) ?

  Hi, I'd like to know how people decide whether to define a method as static. I'm aware that a method can only be defined as static if it doesn't require access to instance fields. So lets say we have a method that does not access instance fields, do you always define such a method as static, or only if you need to call it statically (without a reference to an instance). • Cisco PIX 515 doesn't seem to be passing traffic through according to static route

  Ok, so I am having a spot of bother with a Cisco PIX515, I have posted the current running config below, now I am no cisco expert by any means although I can do basic stuff with them, now I am having trouble with traffic sent from the outside to address: 10.75.32.25 it just doesn't appear to be going anywhere. Now this firewall is deep inside a private network, with an upstream firewall that we don't manage. I have spoken to the people that look after that firewall and they say they they have traffic routing to 10.75.32.21 and 10.75.32.25 and thats it (although there is a website that runs from the server 172.16.102.5 which (if my understanding is correct) gets traffic via 10.75.32.23. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as to me it should all just work, but its not (obviously if the config is all correct then there could be a problem with the web server that we are trying to • Nginx no static files after update

  First, i must say that i am not expert in server administration, my site was setup by hosting admins (that i cannot contact anymore). Few days ago, i updated Nginx to latest version (admin told me that it is safe to do). But after that, my site serves only html content, no CSS, images, JS. If i try to open some image i get message "Wellcome to Nginx" (same thin if i try to open static.mysitedomain.com). More details: Site has static. subdomain, but static files are in same directory as they used to be before setting up static files. I was googling for some solutions, i tried to change something in /etc/nginx/, but no luck. I feel that this is some minor configuration problem, any ideas? • Script/tool to import series of snapshots, each being a new edition, into GIT, populating source tree?

  I've developed code locally and taken a fairly regular snapshot whenever I reach a significant point in development, e.g. a working build. So I have a long-ish list of about 40 folders, each folder being a snapshot e.g. in ascending date YYYYMMDD order, e.g.:- 20100523 20100614 20100721 20100722 20100809 20100901 20101001 20101003 20101104 20101119 20101203 20101218 20110102 I'm looking for a script to import each of these snapshots into GIT. The end result being that the latest code is the same as the last snapshot, and other editions are accessible and are as numbered. Some other requirements: that the latest edition is not cumulative of the previous snapshots, i.e., files that appeared in older snapshots but which don't appear in later ones (e.g. due to refactoring etc.) should not appear in the latest edition of the code. meanwhile, there should be continuity between files that do persist between snapshots. I would like GIT to know that there are previous editions of these files and not treat them as brand new files within each edition. Some background about my aim: I need to formally revision control this work rather than keep local private snapshot copies. I plan to release this work as open source, so version controlling would be highly recommended I am evaluating some of the current popular version control systems (Subversion and GIT) BUT I definitely need a working solution in GIT as well as subversion. I'm not looking to be persuaded to use one particular tool, I need a solution for each tool I am considering. (I haved posted an answer separately for each tool so separate camps of folks who have expertise in GIT and Subversion will be able to give focused answers on one or the other).   Hi everyone! I am starting a project with asp.net visual studio 2008 / SQL 2000 (2005 in future) using c#. The tricky part for me is that the existing DB schema changes often and the import files columns will all have to me matched up with the existing db schema since they may not be one to one match on column names. (There is a lookup table that provides the tables schema with column names I will use) I am exploring different ways to approach this, and need some expert advice. Is there any existing controls or frameworks that I can leverage to do any of this? So far I explored FileUpload .NET control, as well as some 3rd party upload controls to accomplish the upload such as SlickUpload but the files uploaded should be < 500mb Next part is reading of my csv /excel and parsing it for display to the user so they can match it with our db schema. I saw CSVReader and others but for excel its more difficult since I will need to support different versions. Essentially The user performing this import will insert and/or update several tables from this import file. There are other more advance requirements like record matching but and preview of the import records, but I wish to get through understanding how to do this first. Update: I ended up using csvReader with LumenWorks.Framework for uploading the csv files.

• How to Assign a Static IP to an Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop Computer

  If you have a home network with several computers, assigning them static IP addresses can make troubleshooting easier. Today we take a look at switching from DHCP to a static IP in Ubuntu. Assign a Static IP Using Static IPs prevents address conflicts between machines and can allow easier access to them. If you have a small home network and are satisfied with the machines getting their IP address automatically via DHCP, there won’t be anything gained by using static addresses. Using Static IPs isn’t necessarily for the average user, but if you’re a geek who wants to know the address assigned to each machine, it can allow for faster troubleshooting.  To change your Ubuntu machine to a Static IP go to System \ Preferences \ Network Connections. In our example, we’re on a wired system so click on the Wired tab, then select Auto eth0 and click on Edit. Select the IPv4 settings tab, change Method to Manual, click the Add button. Then type in the Static IP Address, Subnet Mask, DNS Servers, and Default Gateway. Then click Apply when you’re finished. Make sure to hit Enter after typing in the Default Gateway otherwise it will revert back to 0.0.0.0 You’ll need to enter in your admin password before the changes go into affect. To verify the changes have been made successfully launch a Terminal session and type in ifconfig at the command prompt, or follow these directions. You also might want to ping the address from another machine to make sure everything is communicating. • Static IP for dynamic IP

  I have a dynamic IP address. I would like to have a static IP, but Virgin Media don't allow static IPs for residential broadband services, even if you ask them really nicely and offer to pay for it without switching to a business tariff. I am already registered with a dynamic DNS service which is updated by my router eg me.example.com will always resolve to my dynamic IP. This is fine for some circumstances, but not if you can only enter an IP address into configuration files/hardware etc like firewalls, subversion services etc etc. Is there a way I can have a static IP address 'forwarding' to my dynamic IP? Would a possible solution involve tunnelling? Setting up a private proxy? Please note the following: I am able to buy an IP address from my web host. I have access to a webserver and I am able to create custom DNS zones. I'm happy to have a webserver running at home if necessary also. I do not wish to change broadband providers. I have zero control over the services that require the IP address entering so I cannot tackle the problem that way round (services I need to access are at work). PS I've tried googling this issue, but it is very difficult to search for as most results are related to dynamic dns (which I already have set up and isnt quite what I'm after)

• Web server with static IP from cable provider

  I have a subscription to 5 static IP addresses. I want to run a web server from behind a router. My network config is as follows: Server's local address is 10.1.10.2, has IIS running on it, port 80 and 443 (IIS is not my fault, had to be done) the server's ip address is static, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, gateway is 10.1.10.1, which is the local address of the cable modem / router / gateway thingy. All looks to be in textbook order as far as the LAN goes. I can get to anything on my LAN from any computer on my LAN, whether they have static IP or get it through DHCP from the cable modem/router thingy. however, I have no internet access form any of my LAN computers. I called Comcast tech support and they say they can connect to my modem/router just fine and can actually use it to ping any computer on the internet or any computer on my LAN from the router/modem (i checked, myself, this is in fact the case). However, nothing on my LAN has internet connectivity. I tried pinging the DNS servers, nothing. I tried directly typing in web sites' IP addresses, nothing, so doesn't seem to be a DNS issue. Any Ideas? What malfunction of a router could be causing such weird behavior? nay ideas or educated guesses are very much appreciated.

• Problem linking two Cisco routers with a static route

  I'm trying to link two Cisco routers with a static route and I haven't been able to get it working as expected. Here is the basic setup: Router 1 - WRV210 - 192.168.1.1 - connected to cable modem Router 2 - RV120W - 192.168.2.1 I already have several machines on Router 1 that are working and I want to setup Router 2 with a few other machines on the different subnet. Here is what I've configured: Connected the WAN port on Router 2 to a LAN port on Router 1 Configured Router 1 to give 192.168.1.2 to Router 2 via DHCP Configured Router 1 with a static route (192.168.2.0 mask 255.255.255.0) to 192.168.1.2 using the LAN & Wireless interface Disabled the firewall on Router 2 (since it is covered by Router 1) Configured Router 2 to "Router" mode instead of "NAT" mode Configured Router 2 with a static route (192.168.1.0 mask 255.255.255.0) to 192.168.1.1 using the WAN interface From the research I've done I think that should be enough but things aren't working exactly as expected: Router 2 can ping 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.101 (a machine on router 1) A machine on Router 2 can ping 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.101 (a machine on router 1) ping 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.101 (a machine on router 1) Router 1 can NOT ping 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.101 (a machine on router 2) A machine on Router 1 can NOT ping 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.101 (a machine on router 2) can NOT ping 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.101 (a machine on router 2) Router 1 and a machine on Router 1 can ping 192.168.1.2 (Router 2 itself) I'm confused as to why Router 1 cannot talk to the 192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0 subnet. • Objective C: Initalizing static variable with static method call

  The Compiler claims an error saying: "initializer element is not constant", when I try to initialize a static variable inside a method with a call to a static method (with + in its definition). Anyway I can tell him that this method always returns the same value. I know this is not the same as static method, but there seems to be no constant methods in Objective-C (other than macros which won't work here because I am calling UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() from inside the method).

  Hello, I'm using Data Pump to export/import data, one requirement is to import data to a sql file. The OS is window. I made the follow export : expdp system/password directory=dpump_dir dumpfile=tablesdump.dmp content=DATA_ONLY tables=user.tablename and it works, I can see the file TABLESDUMP.DMP in the directory path. then when I tried to import it to a sql file: impdp system/password directory=dpump_dir dumpfile=tablesdump.dmp sqlfile=tables_export.sql the log show : .....   I have developed an export file from our Job Management system that I want to be able to import into MYOB Accounting Plus v18.5. The file is generated without issue and I have included every single field to make it easy for upload (i.e. Match All matches every field) The problem I am having is no matter what I do, I cannot get the sales to import... Every time, no matter what I do or how I create the customer card comes back with: Error -190: Customer not found. Sale invoice not imported. I have tried matching using - co./Last Name, Card ID & Record ID and every time I get the same error. I have created a single customer with a simply Co./Last Name, Card ID & Record ID and still, when I try to import using these same fields exactly matched, I get the same error...

• SQL Server Import table keeping default values

  I am importing a table from one database to another in SQL Server 2008 by right-clicking the target database and choosing Tasks Import Data... When I import the table I get the column names and types and all the data fine, but I lose the primary key, identity specifications and all the default values that were set in the source table. So now I have to set all the default values for each column again manually. Is there any way to get the default values with the import, or even after with a Query? I am VERY new to this and flailing in the dark, so forgive me if this is a really stupid question...

• MySQL import in phpmyadmin (CSV) chokes on quotes

  I am trying to import a .csv file into a MySQL table via phpMyAdmin. The .csv file is separated by pipes, formated like this: data|d'ata|d'a"ta|dat"a| data|"da"ta|data|da't'a| dat'a|data|da"ta"|da'ta| The data contains quotes. I have no control over the format in which I recieve the data -- it is generated by a third party. The problem comes when there is a | followed by a double quote. I always get an "invalid field count in CSV input on line N" error. I am uploading the file from the import page, using Latin1, CSV, terminated by |, separated by ". I would like to just change the "enclosed by" character, but I keep getting "Invalid parameter for CSV import: Fields enclosed by". I have tried various characters with no success. How can I tell MySQL to accept this format in phpMyAdmin? Setting up these tables is the first step in writing a program that will use uploaded gzipped .csv files to maintain the catalog of an e-commerce site.

  I have no knowledge on MySQL and I have received a .bak file from one of my customer and he asked me to "import" this file using MySQL. I installed MysQL Community Server free download which installs MySQL Command Line Client. Now I don't know how to Import this .bak file and can't read the necessary data that I need. I tried installation of MySQL EE free trial as well but it doesn't give me anything that I can invoke the DB GUI so I can import the .bak file either. I'm frustrated now and can't go anywhere. In these rules they have import statements with wildcards, for example: import org.drools.runtime.rule.*; When I upload this on Guvnor and try to build, it tells me: Unable to introspect model for wild card imports (org.drools.runtime.rule.*). Please explicitly import each fact type you require. Is it possible to use wildcard imports in Drools rules???

  I am trying to import data from ~ Delimited Text file into SQL Server using CSLA. My text file has 92,000 records in it. Here are the issues i am having with the import When i create a BusinnessListBase .new and add all my records to it, it gives me a "Out of meory exception". So to fix it i create a new bussinessbase object and save it. this works fine and is much faster too. It takes 15 minutes I have to run my program again and check for any changes and hence update them, this is where it takes too much time. Is there any alternative way to speed up my import?

• Errors when switching to specific static IP

  I had a Fedora box running using my static IP 69.169.136.6, etc, all configured according to what the ISP required. Just recently the hard drive failed (and I should have been keeping better backups) - while it is being recovered I would like to put up a webpage on my Archlinux PC explaining the problem - I presently do not have sufficient access to change the DNS record assigned to the domain. When I change my ip address while my system is running to 69.169.136.6, ifconfig reports the new ip address, but http://whatismyip.com/ does not. When I change it and reboot, I can't ping - the message I recieve is "connect: Network is unreachable" (when given one of google.com 's IP addresses - hostnames give me ping: unknown host xxx). Until I have access to the DNS system, what can I do to make this work? Edit: With new IP address, same problem, IP is now 69.169.136.29. • Static IP on FEDORA12 from Virtualbox

  I'm trying to get my FEDORA12 to have an STATIC IP - inside virtualbox - inside Ubuntu Let me rephrase that. I have an Ubuntu 9.04 system with vitualbox and a FEDORA12 vm there and I would like to put the fedora with an STATIC IP (amahi needs it), but I'm getting stuck... I'm using NAT (if that's any help) I tryid a few tutorials, but no go.
