  • I want to create an Android App that checks a website like Woot

    Im new to android and thought it would be fun to develop an app that goes out and checks woot.com. The idea I came up with is for the app to be a widget that refresh woot.com once a day and displays a picture of the item and price. If the widget is clicked on it would open the browser to woot.com. In theory this seems like it would be easy but Im having trouble figuring out where to begin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tim

    Hi al, we have 5 tables over which we should query with user search input throughout a stored procedure. We do a union of the similar data inside a view. Because of this the view can not be materialized. We are not able to change these 5 tables drastically (like creating a 6th table that contains the similar data of the 5 tables and reference that new one from the 5 tables). The query is rather expensive / slow what are our other options? It's allowed to think outside the box. Unfortunately I cannot give more information like the table/view/SP definition because of customer confidentiality... greetings, Tim

  • SQL to display an event on start date, end date and any days in between.

    Hello, This should be fairly simple, but I can't get my head around it. I have an event in my database with a startDate and an endDate. I need to display this event (based on the current date) on every day the event occurs. So if the event starts on the 3rd of May and finishes on the 7th of May, the SQL query must find it on every single day. How can I achieve this? SELECT * FROM events WHERE startDate ??? Thanks, Tim

  • What would be a good "CMS" for me to use?

    Hey, I'm looking for some sort of CMS system to implement here in terms of "documentation" system. Now, I'm not to sure about which system(s) would suit my needs best, so I thought I'd come here and type up my requirements so you could help me in narrowing down all the different options. One important note to make is that I'm not looking at a system where I can store certain documents (word, pdf, whatever). Rather at a system where I can type the "documentation"-text in some sort of post (like a blog). Requirements: - Multilanguage support - Tagging - Decent search support (tags, groupings, categories) - Version-control of posts/articles - Possibility of exporting post(s) to a pdf file - Support for multi-user (usergroup X can only see those posts, usergroup Y can see others, etc...) I know, these are some strange requirements if they're all combined, and I reckon most of you would perhaps say that I'd have to develop something like this inhouse rather then finding a descent working product out there (open source if possible). None the less, I thought I'd at least ask the opinion of y'all. Regards, Tim

    Does anyone know how MessageBox(...) could fail silently? MessageBox(g_hMainhWnd, buffer, "Oops!", MB_OK | MB_ICONERROR); ShellExecute(0, "open", "http://intranet/crash_handler.php", NULL, "", SW_SHOWNORMAL); For a little context, this code is called inside our own exception handler, which was registered with SetUnhandledExceptionFilter() Most of the time, I see the message box, and then it launches a web browser. However, I have an exe, which as far as I'm aware uses this exact code, and it successfully launches the web browser, but I do not see the message box first. Thanks Tim

  • Easiest way to combine a dataset and other data in a single file?

    I have a dataset in C# which I can serialise using dataset.WriteXml(filename); but I want the file to contain other data as well (essentially some meta data about the dataset). I could add another table to the dataset which contained the metadata, but I'd prefer to keep it separate, if at all possible. Essentially I think I want to create a 'combination of files' file, that looks something like this: size_of_file1 file1 size_of_file2 file2 ... etc Then, I'd like to load the file into memory, and split the file into separate streams, so that I can feed the dataset into dataset.ReadXml(stream); and the metadata into something else. Sound possible? Can anyone tell me how I can do it? Thanks Tim

  • Play a video with flash (with no controls, pause, etc) and stretch to full width and height of page.

    Hi, I've managed this so far: [removed url] The plan is to have that video stretch across the whole page (the flash does, the video itself does not). Firstly: well aware of the issues - bad performance, horribly stretched/pixelated video. I know this. However a client wants it so we have to do it, simple as that. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be achieved? I've been in touch with the creators of the flash video player I'm currently using and they've confirmed it isn't possible with that flash video player. I use Xcode 4 and I have one target with keys: Bundle display name : ${PRODUCT_NAME} Bundle name : ${PRODUCT_NAME} What I want, my project name is for example "test" but I want to have "MySuperApp".     I'm using the Twitter API streaming to collect thousand of tweets every minute. They need to be matched to a list of keywords (can contain spaces). This is my current method: $text = preg_replace( '/[^a-z0-9]+/i', ' ', strtolower( $data['text'] ) ); $breakout = explode( " ", $text ); $result = array_intersect( $this->_currentTracks, $breakout ); I chop the tweet into words, and the matches them against my current keywords. This works well for all the keywords without a space ofc. If I wanted to find for example "Den Haag", It won't show up, because the string is exploded into words (based on the spaces). Any ideas about how I can do this in a quick way? Kind regards, Tim

  • How to understand the memory usage and load average in linux server

    Hi, I am using a linux server which has 128GB of memory and 24 cores. I use top to see how much it is used. Its output is pasted at the end of the post. Here are two questions: (1) I see that each of the running processes occupies a very small percentage of memory (%MEM no more than 0.2%, and most just 0.0%), but how the total memory is almost used as in the fourth line of output ("Mem: 130766620k total, 130161072k used, 605548k free, 919300k buffers")? The sum of used percentage of memory over all processes seems unlikely to achieve almost 100%, doesn't it? (2) how to understand the load average on the first line ("load average: 14.04, 14.02, 14.00")? Thanks and regards! Edit: Thanks! I also really like to hear some rough numbers based on used percentage of memory to determine if a server is heavily loaded, since I once became the one who cramed the server without understanding the current load. Is swap regarded as almost the same as memory? For example, when memory and swap are almost of same size, if the memory is almost running out but the swap is still largely free, may I just view it as if the used percentage of memory + swap is still not high and run other new processes? How would you consider together CPU or memory (or memory + swap) usage? Do you become worried if either of them reaches too high or both?   • Ruby concatenate strings and add spaces

    I have 4 string variables name, quest, favorite_color, speed that might be empty. I want to concatenate them all together, putting spaces between those that aren't empty. So: name = 'Tim' quest = 'destroy' favorite_color = 'red' speed = 'fast' becomes 'Tim destroy red fast' and name = 'Steve' quest = '' favorite_color = '' speed = 'slow' becomes: 'Steve slow' (Notice: there is only 1 space between 'Steve' and 'slow') How do I do that (preferably in 1 line).

    I have a number of very long arrays. No run-time sort is possible. It is also time consuming to sort them manually. Moreover, new elements can be added in any order later, so I would like to sort them by value using C preprocessor or maybe there is any compilers flag (GCC)?   • jQuery DataTables: Problems with POST Server Side JSON output

    Hello Everyone, I am trying to get my datatable to take a POST JSON output from my server. This is my client side code <script> $(document).ready(function() { $('#example').dataTable( { "bProcessing": true, "bServerSide": true, "sAjaxSource": "http://localhost/staff/jobs/my_jobs", "fnServerData": function ( sSource, aoData, fnCallback ) { $.ajax( { "dataType": 'json', "type": "POST", "url": sSource, "data": aoData, "success": fnCallback } ); } } ); } ); </script> Now I have copied and pasted the server side code found in the DataTables examples found here. When I change my sAjaxSource to view this page the table doesn't move beyond 'processing'. When I view the JSON directly I see this output. {"sEcho": 1, "iTotalRecords": 1, "iTotalDisplayRecords": 1, "aaData": [ ["Trident","First Ever Job"]] } Just for fun I went to the POST server-side example and copied some of the JSON they are using for their example and just PHP echoed it straight out of another page. This is the output of that page. {"sEcho": 1, "iTotalRecords": 1, "iTotalDisplayRecords": 1, "aaData": [ ["Trident","Internet Explorer 4.0"]] } Here is where it gets interesting. The JSON that has been processed by the server fails to work yet the JSON simply echo'd by the same server on a different page does work... yet both are almost identical in outputs.   • How can I walk through two files simultaneously in Perl?

    I have two text files that contain columnar data of the variety position-value, sorted by position. Here is an example of the first file (file A): 100 1 101 1 102 0 103 2 104 1 ... Here is an example of the second file (B): 20 0 21 0 ... 100 2 101 1 192 3 193 1 ... Instead of reading one of the two files into a hash table, which is prohibitive due to memory constraints, what I would like to do is walk through two files simultaneously, in a stepwise fashion. What this means is that I would like to stream through lines of either A or B and compare position values. If the two positions are equal, then I perform a calculation on the values associated with that position. Otherwise, if the positions are not equal, I move through lines of file A or file B until the positions are equal (when I again perform my calculation) or I reach EOF of both files. Is there a way to do this in Perl?

I have found a function to check on this page: http://www.dotnetfunda.com/articles/article597-imeivalidator-in-vbnet-.aspx But it returns false for valid IMEI's (f.e. 352972024585360). I can validate them online on this page: http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr What is the correct way(in VB.Net) to check if a given IMEI is valid?
