  • Twitter API question

    - by Morano88
    I have a question regarding Twitter API. I came across something called "Parameters and Values" in the API console here : http://dev.twitter.com/console. What can I put here ? I want to filter the response of public statuses to only those have the Hashtag #Give .. Can I do that from here ? What language should I use here ?

  • Can twitter do callbacks?

    - by RenegadeAndy
    Hi! I am wondering if the twitter API supports the following: Whenever I make a post to my twitter account - it also calls a specific URL which I define so I can do something else? Thanks very much, Andy

  • Twitter RSS feed, [domdocument.load]: failed to open stream:

    - by dave1019
    hi i'm using the following: <?php $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->load('http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/XXXXXX.rss'); $arrFeeds = array(); foreach ($doc->getElementsByTagName('item') as $node) { $itemRSS = array ( 'title' => $node->getElementsByTagName('title')->item(0)->nodeValue, 'desc' => $node->getElementsByTagName('description')->item(0)->nodeValue, 'link' => $node->getElementsByTagName('link')->item(0)->nodeValue, 'date' => $node->getElementsByTagName('pubDate')->item(0)->nodeValue ); array_push($arrFeeds, $itemRSS); } for($i=0;$i<=3;$i++) { $tweet=substr($arrFeeds[$i]['title'],17); $tweetDate=strtotime($arrFeeds[$i]['date']); $newDate=date('G:ia l F Y ',$tweetDate); if($i==0) { $b='style="border:none;"'; } $tweetsBox.='<div class="tweetbox" ' . $b . '> <div class="tweet"><p>' . $tweet . '</p> <div class="tweetdate"><a href="http://twitter.com/XXXXXX">@' . $newDate .'</a></div> </div> </div>'; } return $tweetsBox; ?> to return the 4 most recent tweets from a given timeline (XXXXX is the relevant feed) It seems to work fine but i've recently been getting the following error sporadically: PHP error debug Error: DOMDocument::load(http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/XXXXXX.rss) [domdocument.load]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway I've read that the above code is dependant on Twitter beign available and I know it gets rather busy sometimes. Is there either a better way of receiving twits, or is there any kind of error trapping i could do to just to display "tweets are currently unavailable..." ind of message rather than causing an error. I'm usnig ModX CMS so any parse error kills the site rather than just ouputs a warning. thanks.

  • Client-side Twitter API method using XMLHttpRequest?

    - by user359239
    Does (or did) Twitter ever have a method in their API that allowed client-side HTTP requests without producing any cross-domain issues? I have a site that used the following url: http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q=from%3adaleyjem&rpp=3&page=1&callback=? It once worked, but now it doesn't. Is there something else I should be using, or do I have to make a request to my own server-side code?

  • Twitter + Grackle, determining the logged in user

    - by JP
    This is crazy, but I'm stumped! Once my user has logged into twitter via OAuth how do I determine their username using grackle? @twitter = Grackle::Client.new(:auth => { :type => :oauth, :consumer_key => consumer_key, :consumer_secret => consumer_secret, :token => @access_token.token, :token_secret => @access_token.secret }) username = @twitte.something_here?

  • Election 2012: Twitter Breaks Records with MySQL

    - by Bertrand Matthelié
    Twitter VP of Infrastructure Operations Engineering Mazen Rawashdeh shared news and numbers yesterday on his blog: "Last night, the world tuned in to Twitter to share the election results as U.S. voters chose a president and settled many other campaigns. Throughout the day, people sent more than 31 million election-related Tweets (which contained certain key terms and relevant hashtags). And as results rolled in, we tracked the surge in election-related Tweets at 327,452 Tweets per minute (TPM). These numbers reflect the largest election-related Twitter conversation during our 6 years of existence, though they don’t capture the total volume of all Tweets yesterday." "Last night, Twitter averaged about 9,965 TPS from 8:11pm to 9:11pm PT, with a one-second peak of 15,107 TPS at 8:20pm PT and a one-minute peak of 874,560 TPM. Seeing a sustained peak over the course of an entire event is a change from the way people have previously turned to Twitter during live events. Now, rather than brief spikes, we are seeing sustained peaks for hours." Congrats to Jeremy Cole, Davi Arnaut and the rest of the team at Twitter for their excellent work! Jeremy recently held a keynote presentation at MySQL Connect describing how MySQL powers Twitter, and why they chose and continue to rely on MySQL for their operations. You can watch the presentation here. He also went into more details during another presentation later that day and you can access the slides here. Below a couple of tweets from Jeremy after what have surely been hectic days...  Keep up the good work guys!

  • django redirect url containing id

    - by dana
    hello, i want to add in my settings.py a declaration like: LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='^private_profile/(?P<id>\d+)/$' #or LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/id/' so that when the user with the id 1, for example,is logging in, he will be redirected to LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/1/' but both alternatives, LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='^private_profile/(?P<id>\d+)/$' #or LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/id/' are wrong, because in my browser i don't see the current user id, where am i wrong? • Get caller id and append to url in browser automatically

    - by timbad2021
    I am trying to find a caller id device/program that will automatically open a browser and append the incoming phone number to a url when receiving a call. For example: https://www.myphonesearchapp.com/search?q=5733655593 This would probably be a usb device that you would run a phone line through that will get caller id and allow you to set custom commands like append the number to a url and launching it in a Browser. Thanks!

  • Obtaining YouTube video ID in a URL and inputting selected video ID into a URL

    - by Dave
    I've been having trouble in trying to figure this out. What I am trying to do is, obtain the ID of a video from YouTube, and input the 11 character ID into the css of a div of a specific id by using jquery. I know the URL for the thumbnail of any video, but I just need to be able to change the ID to display different video thumbnails. <script> $(document).ready(function() { function(data){ videoID = data.split('www.youtube.com/v/')[1].split('&amp')[0]; $("#304817679").append(videoID); }); $("#304817679").replaceWith("<div id=\"304817679\" style=\"background: url(http://img.youtube.com/vi/"+ $.function(data) +"/0.jpg) no-repeat middle; width: 15px; height: 150px;\"></div>"); }); }); </script> <div id="304817679"> <div style="display: none;"><object width="248" height="222"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vy90n2nNRKQ&amp;rel=0&amp;egm=0&amp;showinfo=0&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vy90n2nNRKQ&amp;rel=0&amp;egm=0&amp;showinfo=0&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="248" height="222" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent"></embed></object></div> </div> Trying to explain this better, I want the 11 Character YouTube Video ID from the embedded code, and put it into the URL of the thumbnail (http://img.youtube.com/vi/"+ function(data) +"/0.jpg). Which, would then also replace the original div (div id="304817679"). Am I on the right track with my script? I'm entirely new to this, and I would appreciate some of the help that's offered here.

  • Nhibernate Fluent domain Object with Id(x => x.id).GeneratedBy.Assigned not saveable

    - by urpcor
    Hi there, I am using for some legacy db the corresponding domainclasses with mappings. Now the Ids of the entities are calculated by some stored Procedure in the DB which gives back the Id for the new row.(Its legacy, I cant change this) Now I create the new entity , set the Id and Call Save. But nothing happens. no exeption. Even NH Profiler does not say a bit. its as the Save call does nothing. I expect that NH thinks that the record is already in the db because its got an Id already. But I am using Id(x = x.id).GeneratedBy.Assigned() and intetionally the Session.Save(object) method. I am confused. I saw so many samples there it worked. does any body have any ideas about it? public class Appendix { public virtual int id { get; set; } public virtual AppendixHierarchy AppendixHierachy { get; set; } public virtual byte[] appendix { get; set; } } public class AppendixMap : ClassMap<Appendix> { public AppendixMap () { WithTable("appendix"); Id(x => x.id).GeneratedBy.Assigned(); References(x => x.AppendixHierachy).ColumnName("appendixHierarchyId"); Map(x => x.appendix); } }

  • Node.js fetching Twitter Streaming API - EADDRNOTAVAIL

    - by Jordan Scales
    I have the following code written in node.js to access to the Twitter Streaming API. If I curl the URL below, it works. However, I cannot get it to work with my code. var https = require('https'); https.request('https://USERNAME:PASSWORD@stream.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/sample.json', function(res) { res.on('data', function(chunk) { var d = JSON.parse(chunk); console.log(d); }); }); But I receive the following node.js:201 throw e; // process.nextTick error, or 'error' event on first tick ^ Error: connect EADDRNOTAVAIL at errnoException (net.js:642:11) at connect (net.js:525:18) at Socket.connect (net.js:589:5) at Object.<anonymous> (net.js:77:12) at new ClientRequest (http.js:1073:25) at Object.request (https.js:80:10) at Object.<anonymous> (/Users/jordan/Projects/twitter-stream/app.js:3:7) at Module._compile (module.js:441:26) at Object..js (module.js:459:10) at Module.load (module.js:348:31) If anyone can offer an alternative solution, or explain to me why this doesn't work, I would be very grateful.

  • Error getting twitter request token using OAuth and PEAR Services_Twitter

    - by Onema
    Hello, I am moving from the basic authentication method using username and password to the OAuth based authentication. I was using an old version of the pear package Services_Twitter, that did not support OAuth. The latest version of this package supports OAuth authentications, it has a few dependencies (HTTP_Request2, HTTP_OAuth). It was very simple to install them and upgrade the package. I did all this my local machine and had no trouble getting the authentication up and running. I committed this code to the test site, but every time the code request a "request token" I get the following error message "Unable to connect to ssl://api.twitter.com:443. Error #0" I have spend 6 hours making sure that all the pear packages where up to date, checking the customer token and token secret, making sure port 443 is not closed... in addition to various other test. I have exhausted my resources and I come to you in hope to find some answers. Thank you PD: One of the things I do not understand is why does the message says that the url is ssl://api.twitter.com:443 rather than https://api.twitter.com/request_token? the former one is the one I am using to get the request token.

  • Problem with twitter API: cannot update status

    - by PainBringer
    I am trying to create Google Chrome extension that will send interesting links to twitter. But, I am unable to connect to the Twitter. The server gets my request, but the response is always the same: "You do not have permission to access /1/statuses/update.json on this server (403 Forbidden)." I am using Wireshark to inspect Http responses. Here is the code of the function i am using: function setStatus(msg) { var status = "status="+msg; var client = new XMLHttpRequest(); client.open("POST","http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json"); client.setRequestHeader("Authorization", "Basic <user credentials>"); client.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); client.onreadystatechange = function(){ if(client.readyState ==4){ //whatever } } client.send(status); Am I doing something wrong? I am using Basic Auth. I use this tool to do the encoding, and just put the result instead of . Also, can someone give me an example of OAuth?

  • Twitter O-Auth Callback url

    - by jtymann
    I am having a problem with Twitter's oauth authentication and using a callback url. I am coding in php and using the sample code referenced by the twitter wiki, http://github.com/abraham/twitteroauth I got that code, and tried a simple test and it worked nicely. However I want to programatically specify the callback url, and the example did not support that. So I quickly modified the getRequestToken() method to take in a parameter and now it looks like this: function getRequestToken($params = array()) { $r = $this->oAuthRequest($this->requestTokenURL(), $params); $token = $this->oAuthParseResponse($r); $this->token = new OAuthConsumer($token['oauth_token'], $token['oauth_token_secret']); return $token; } and my call looks like this $tok = $to->getRequestToken(array('oauth_callback' => 'http://127.0.0.1/twitter_prompt/index.php')); This is the only change I made, and the redirect works like a charm, however I am getting an error when I then try and use my newly granted access to try and make a call. I get a "Could not authenticate you" error. Also the application never actually gets added to the users authorized connections. Now I read the specs and I thought all I had to do was specify the parameter when getting the request token. Could someone a little more seasoned in oauth and twitter possibly give me a hand? Thank You

  • PHP OAuth Twitter

    - by Sandhurst
    I have created a twitter app which I am using to post tweets. The problem that I am not able to resolve is everytime I have to allow access to my application. so lets say I need to tweet three messages, so all the three times I have to allow access to my app. I just need that once user has allowed access to my app, next time he should only be asked to allow acces is that when he/she relogins. Here's my code that I am using Share content on twitter"; include 'lib/EpiCurl.php'; include 'lib/EpiOAuth.php'; include 'lib/EpiTwitter.php'; include 'lib/secret.php'; $twitterObj = new EpiTwitter($consumer_key, $consumer_secret); $oauth_token = $_GET['oauth_token']; if($oauth_token == '') { $url = $twitterObj-getAuthorizationUrl(); echo ""; echo "Sign In with Twitter"; echo ""; } else { $twitterObj-setToken($_GET['oauth_token']); $token = $twitterObj-getAccessToken(); $twitterObj-setToken($token-oauth_token, $token-oauth_token_secret); $_SESSION['ot'] = $token-oauth_token; $_SESSION['ots'] = $token-oauth_token_secret; $twitterInfo= $twitterObj-get_accountVerify_credentials(); $twitterInfo-response; $username = $twitterInfo-screen_name; $profilepic = $twitterInfo-profile_image_url; include 'update.php'; } if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { $msg = $_REQUEST['tweet']; $twitterObj-setToken($_SESSION['ot'], $_SESSION['ots']); $update_status = $twitterObj-post_statusesUpdate(array('status' = $msg)); $temp = $update_status-response; header("Location: MessageStatus.html"); exit(); } ?
