• HTML5 CSS3 layout not working

    - by John.Weland
I have been asked by a local MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) School to help them develop a website. For the life of me I CANNOT get the layout to work correctly. When I get one section set where it should be another moves out of place! here is a pic of the layout: here The header should be a set height as should the footer the entire site at its widest point should be 1250px with the header/content area/footer and the like being 1240px the black in the picture is a scaling background to expand wider as larger resolution systems are viewing them. The full site should be a minimum-height of 100% but scale virtually as content in the target area deems necessary. My biggest issue currently is that my "sticky" footer doesn't stick once the content has stretched the content target area virtually. the Code is not pretty but here it is: HTML5

Untitled Document

College of Martial Arts

News

·

About Us

The Instructors

Our Arts

·

Location

·

Gallery

·

MMA.tv

·

Schedule

·

Fight Gear

test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test

tel: (830) 214-4591
e: [email protected]
add: 1273 FM 2673, Sattler, TX 78133

Hwa Rang World Tang soo Do

Copyright © College of Martial Arts

CSS3 -Dropdown Menu- @charset "utf-8"; } Eventually once the layout is correct I have to use PHP to make calls for where data should be displayed from what database. If anyone can help me to fix this layout and clean up the crap code, I'd be much appreciated.. I've spent weeks trying to figure this out.

  • jquery hover not working in safari and chrome

    - by Nik
    I'm developing a site and I am implementing a jquery hover effect on some list items. It works perfectly in all browser except safari and chrome (mac and pc). For some reason the hover effect doesnt work on those to browsers. Here is the link link text I thought I would add the code just in case it helps (it also uses the color_library.js file that can be found in the head of the document). $(document).ready(function() { var originalBG = $("#menu li#Q_01","#menu li#Q_03","#menu li#Q_05","#menu li#Q_07","#menu li#Q_09","#menu li#Q_11","#menu li#Q_11").css("background-color"); var originalBG1 = $("#menu li").css("color"); var originalBG2 = $("#menu li#Q_02","#menu li#Q_04","#menu li#Q_06","#menu li#Q_08","#menu li#Q_10","#menu li#Q_12").css("background-color"); var fadeColor = "#009FDD"; var fadeColor1 = "#FFF"; var fadeColor2 = "#623A10"; $("#menu li#Q_01").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor2,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_03").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor2,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_05").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor2,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_07").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor2,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_09").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor2,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_11").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor2,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_13").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor2,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_02").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_04").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_06").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_08").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_10").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); $("#menu li#Q_12").hover( function () { $(this).animate( { backgroundColor:fadeColor,color:fadeColor1}, 380 ) }, function () { $(this).animate( {color:"#666",backgroundColor:"#fff"}, 380 ) } ); }); Thanks for any advice ;)

  • jquery for each function

    - by jonathan p
I have added a show more or less function to a div - this all works fine however now i need to only allow this functionality if a element is over a certain height in this case. there are numerous classes of the same so i need to do the check on each element. although i am having problems getting it to work see code below : $(document).ready(function() { $(".less").hide(); $(".more").each(function() { var actualHeight = ($(this).parent().parent().find('.appsList').height()); if (actualHeight < 150) { $(".more").hide(); } }); $(".more").click(function() { var paragraphHeight = ($(this).parent().parent().find('.appsList').height()); if (paragraphHeight > 150) { $(this).parent().parent().find('.appsHolderBody').animate({height:(paragraphHeight + 100) }); $(this).hide('slow'); $(this).parent().find('.less').show(); } return false; }); $(".less").click(function() { $(this).parent().parent().find('.appsHolderBody').animate({height:190 }); $(this).hide('slow'); $(this).parent().find('.more').show(); return false; }); }); Any help would be greatly appreciated - please note when i am targeting the parent using .parent.parent i know its not pretty but could'nt get it to run using eq(4) for some reason. so the main problem is with this part of code $(".more").each(function() { var actualHeight = ($(this).parent().parent().find('.appsList').height()); if (actualHeight < 150) { $(".more").hide(); } it hides all of the elements $(".more") instead of the ones that match the condition. html as requested

General Apps

Resource Manager

Launch Info

Resource Manager

Launch Info

Yet Another App

Launch Info

Yet Another App

Launch Info

Yet Another App

Launch Info

Yet Another App

Launch Info

Yet Another App

Launch Info

Yet Another App

Launch Info

More Less

Advertising Apps

ATEX

Launch Info

More Less

cheers in advance

  • (.*) instead of (.*?)

    - by EBAGHAKI
Suppose we have this html content, and we are willing to get Content1, Content2,.. with regular expression.
Content1

Content2

Content3

Content4
If I use the line below preg_match_all('/
(.*)<\/li>/', $text, $result); i will get an array with a single row containing: Content1

Content2

Content3

Content4 And by using this code: preg_match_all('/
(.*?)<\/li>/', $text, $result); i will get an array with 4 row containing Content1, Content2, ... Why (.*) is not working since it means match any character zero or more times

  • Fade Out an
and Fade In Info From DB

    - by NessDan
On my portfolio page I have this setup:

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

MotorSomethin

We tried going for a very dark but flashy look for this website. Hence the reason we used flash.

So imagine a grid, 2 sites per line. I want to use jQuery so that when I click the H3, the image, or the paragraph inside the LIE(which are all information about a certain site), it would fade out the entire UL, then grab info about that site from our database. I think this requires AJAX but I don't have much experience with it. I'm also confused on how to use jQuery to write the new HTML after the information is grabbed.

  • center menu within the 960 grid

    - by Kyle Monti
    I have been working on 960 grid,(http://960.gs/) and I used an old style menu i've used in the past from a few years ago and for some reason with the 960 grid, the menu is floating left and I want it centered. ul#menu { width:940px; height:61px; background: url(../images/menu_bg.png) no-repeat; list-style:none; padding-top:0; padding-left:0; margin: 0; } ul#menu li { float:left; } ul#menu li a { background: url(../images/menu_splice_color.png) no-repeat scroll top left; display:block; height:61px; position:relative; } ul#menu li a.shel { width:135px; } ul#menu li a.golf { width:84px; background-position:-135px 0px; } ul#menu li a.pro { width:119px; background-position:-219px 0px; } ul#menu li a.event { width:94px; background-position:-338px 0px; } ul#menu li a.member { width:148px; background-position:-432px 0px; } ul#menu li a.bistro { width:91px; background-position:-580px 0px; } ul#menu li a.contact { width:115px; background-position:-671px 0px; } ul#menu li a span { background: url(../images/menu_splice_color.png) no-repeat scroll bottom left; display:block; position:absolute; top:0; left:0px; height:100%; width:100%; z-index:100; } ul#menu li a.shel span { background-position:0px -61px; } ul#menu li a.golf span { background-position:-135px -61px; } ul#menu li a.pro span { background-position:-219px -61px; } ul#menu li a.events span { background-position:-338px -61px; } ul#menu li a.member span { background-position:-432px -61px; } ul#menu li a.bistro span { background-position:-580px -61px; } ul#menu li a.contact span { background-position:-672px -61px; } and my generic html markup is

And I use jquery animations to roll over the images. $(function() { $("ul#menu span").css("opacity","0"); $("ul#menu span").hover(function () { $(this).stop().animate({ opacity: 1 }, "slow"); }, function () { $(this).stop().animate({ opacity: 0 }, "slow"); }); });

  • content show problem

    - by nonab
I still fight with some jquery scripts:) With my first problem Jens Fahnenbruck helped me here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3021476/problem-with-hide-show-in-jquery thanks:) Now i added another fancy thing - jquery tabs Made a few modifications and it works like this: When you click on tab and it loads different main image for every tab. The problem is that i used $(document).ready(function() to handle those image changes. When i click any of 2x2 box images (on any tab) it will permanently change the image on the right and when i click on tabs it won't work like it did at the beginning. online example: http://rarelips.ayz.pl/testy/2/ code: body { font: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif normal 10px; margin: 0; padding: 0; } * {margin: 0; padding: 0;} img {border: none;} .container { height: 500px; width: 1000px; margin: -180px 0 0 -450px; top: 50%; left: 50%; position: absolute; } ul.thumb { float: left; • jQuery scrolling UL with hidden overflow

    - by papermate
I have a UL with LI's set to display horizontally. The UL has a fixed width and it's set to hide the overflow. This is so I can display my images, which are to be used in a gallery, neatly. It works and looks nice. I want to, however, use jQuery to scroll the contents of the UL rather than set the overflow property to auto and be presented with those ugly scroll bars. I recycled some code I used to do the same thing a few weeks back but, back then, I was doing it in DIV's. Much easier, apparently. $('.gallery_container span').hover( function() { if ($(this).attr('class') == 'up') direction = '-='; else direction = '+='; var divOffset = $('ul.gallery').offset().top; $('ul.gallery').animate({scrollTop: direction + divOffset}, 5000); }, function() { $('ul.gallery').stop(); }); I saw a site that says the scrollTop property can be applied to UL's. So I'm not sure what exactly is causing this not to work. Any ideas? EDIT: Found what was causing it to not work at all but not it scrolls vertically - Kind of expected that. Is there any way to scroll it horizontally?

  • Smarty multiple random numbers list

    - by Heinrich
Hey Stackoverflow-Folks, is there any smart way to post random numbers (e.g. 1-4) in a list by using the smarty tpl-engine? standart list sorted 1-5:

1

2

3

4

5

Here's my solution (PHP):
{foreach from=randomNumbers}
{smarty.randomNumbers}
{/foreach}
modified list sorted 1-5 (random):

3

2

5

1

4

I've really tested nearly everything, but I do only need a smart & small solution for this :-) Kind Regards, Heinrich

  • Cufon selector problems

    - by meep
Hello StackOverflow. I am using Cufon (http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/) to replace some text in a menu. Problem is that I only need to style the first
of the first
. I have tried using: Cufon.replace('#menu ul li > a', { fontFamily: 'Christopherhand', hover: { color: '#99c635'}}); With the > seperator, but it does not work. It still replaces the #menu ul li ul li a This is my markup:

About JW

Subpage 1

Subpage 2

Subpage 3

Subpage 4

Our Products

Best Recipes

Health & Diet

Our Ads

Can anyone see the problem? It should work without adding a class to sub
. :-) Thank you.

  • Changing url of background image

    - by João Pedro
    I'm doing this interface where I have a lot of buttons that are just a li with a background image like this #menu ul.icons li.nove { background-image:url(images/edit-menu/icons/undo.png); background-size:contain; display:block; margin-top:29px; }

I need to create a code where I change the background image of the button when the user clicks it, to show that button its activated, I just need to change url(images/edit-menu/icons/ to url(images/edit-menu/select/ and keep the same filename. I need a way to do this dynamically so I won't have to do it for each of the 10 buttons. Hope I was clear, thanks in advance

  • CSS Flexible Height with scrollable content

    - by th3hamburgler
I'm looking to create a flexible width/height page layout with no window scrollbars! Any content that will not fit on the page should be scrollable independently with the overflow property. I've seen plenty of ways to construct flexible width layouts using just HTML and CSS. The following site does a pretty good job on that front: http://ago.tanfa.co.uk/css/layouts/css-3-column-layout-v1.html I wish to implement scrollable content within the 3 centre columns. The content should be scrollable not the column div. e.g.

Title

These

Items

Should

Be

Scrollable

If

They

Exceed

The

Window

Height

So far if the list exceeds the window height it pushes the footer off page. I'm not to bothered about it working on old versions of IE, although that would score bonus points!

  • How to apply different CSS style to child elements as they occur inside one another?

    - by Starx
For example my HTML is this

Sample 1

Sample 2

Sub 1

Sub 2

Sub 3

Grandsub 1

Grandsub 2

Grandsub 3

verySub 1

verySub 2

Sample 3

I want to use different styles on every child
without defining any class or id on them. I dont know how many child
might occur inside one another so inline css will not to the job Is this possible?

    - by Jason
Hi all, I am trying to add a dynamic recursive navigation list menu to a site of am working on. The scenerio is that the menu has 2 levels related by a parentid(preid). My issue is that I can display the 1st level list correctly, however I cannot get the second level to display properly. I am not sure where to add the UL and /UL tags for the second level. This is what I am after

Item 1

item 2

item 3

sub item 1

sub item 2

Item 4

item 5

sub item 1

sub item 2

item 6

This is actually what i am getting with the below code:

item 1

item 2

sub item 1

sub item 2

Sports Injuries

Below is the class file I am using to create the menu: class Dynamic_Menu { function getConfig() { $this->DB_SERVER = 'localhost'; $this->DB_USER = '***'; $this->DB_PASS = '***'; $this->DB_NAME = '***'; } function __construct() { $this->getConfig(); $Conn = mysql_connect($this->DB_SERVER, $this->DB_USER, $this->DB_PASS); if (!$Conn) die("Error: ".mysql_errno($Conn).":- ".mysql_error($Conn)); $DB_select = mysql_select_db($this->DB_NAME, $Conn); if (!$DB_select) die("Error: ".mysql_errno($Conn).":- ".mysql_error($Conn)); } function select_row($sql) { //echo $sql .   • jQuery show hide divs on radio buttons

    - by RyanP13
I have got a group of radio buttons that when clicked need to display a corresponding unordered list. I have got as far as showing the correct list according to which radio button is clicked but cannot figure out how to hide the other lists that need to be hidden. So if i click the second benefits radion then the second 'spend' ul will display and the other 'spend' uls will hide. This is my jQuery: // hide all except first ul $('div.chevron ul').not(':first').hide(); // $('div.chevron > ul > li > input[name=benefits]').live('click',function() { // work out which radio has been clicked var $radioClick = $(this).index('div.chevron > ul > li > input[name=benefits]'); var $radioClick = $radioClick + 1; $('div.chevron > ul').eq($radioClick).show(); }); // trigger click event to show spend list var $defaultRadio = $('div.chevron > ul > li > input:first[name=benefits]') $defaultRadio.trigger('click'); And this is my HTML:

What benefit are you most interested in?

  Dental

  Optical

  Physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic, acupuncture

How much do you spend a year on Dental?

  £50

  £100

  £150

How much do you spend a year on Optical?

  £50

  £100

  £150

How much do you spend a year on Physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic, acupuncture?

  £50

  £100

  £150

I tried using: $('div.chevron > ul').not($radioClick).hide(); But that yielded a bad result where all the lists where hidden. Thanks in advance.
