  • PreferenceActivity and theme not applying

    - by janfsd
    Hi all I have set the theme in the manifest file like this: android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Light" But I have a problem in the Preferences Activity, in the main preferences the theme shows ok, but if I get to a sub preference, the theme gets messy, it is not white as it should, it is all dark, and the font is black so you can't see much, and when I start clicking on any items they will get sometimes white as they should but revert to black soon after. This is only happens on 2.1, in both the real device and emulator. Tested on the emulator running 1.6 and it was working correctly. Here is part of the code of the preferences xml file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <PreferenceScreen xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <PreferenceScreen android:title="@string/account"> <CheckBoxPreference android:key="enable_account" android:title="@string/account_use" android:summary="@string/account_summ" /> <EditTextPreference android:key="username" android:title="@string/login" android:dependency="enable_account" android:summary="@string/login_summ" /> <EditTextPreference android:key="password" android:title="@string/password" android:dependency="enable_account" android:summary="@string/password_summ" android:password="true" /> </PreferenceScreen> And here is a screenshot: Any workarounds?

  • How to change theme for AlertDialog.

    - by Min Soo Kim
    Hello everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me out. I am trying to create a custom AlertDialog. In order to do this, I added the following line of code in styles.xml @drawable/color_panel_background color_panel_background.9.png is located in drawable folder. This is also available in Android SDK res folder. The following is the main activity. package com.customdialog; import android.app.Activity; import android.app.AlertDialog; import android.app.Dialog; import android.content.DialogInterface; import android.os.Bundle; public class CustomDialog extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); this.setTheme(R.style.CustomAlertDialog); AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(this); builder.setMessage("HELLO!"); builder .setCancelable(false) .setPositiveButton("Yes", new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int id) { //MyActivity.this.finish(); } }) .setNegativeButton("No", new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int id) { //dialog.cancel(); } }); AlertDialog alertdialog = builder.create(); alertdialog.show(); } } In order to apply the theme to an AlertDialog, I had to set the theme to the current context. However, I just can't seem to get the app to show customized AlertDialog. Can anyone help me out with this, and thank you very much in advance!

  • Adding View extending from SurfaceView to layout gives me a blank screen

    - by JonF
    I'm very new to Android programming, so this is probably something pretty basic. I just have an xml layout with a few buttons. I'm trying to follow the model given by the JetBoy demo, so I'm adding a view to the layout which extends SurfaceView. When this new view is put in my xml layout, I just get a blank screen. Here's the XML layout if it helps. The gameview element is what causes the screen to be blank <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:alwaysDrawnWithCache="true"> <game.test.gameEngine android:id="@+id/gameView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"/> <Button android:text="Easy" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/EasyButton"></Button> <Button android:text="Medium" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/MedButton"></Button> <Button android:text="Hard" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/HardButton"></Button> <DatePicker android:id="@+id/DatePicker01" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"></DatePicker><Button android:id="@+id/Button04" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Exit"></Button> </LinearLayout>

  • Newbie: How to set attribute of the relative layout in my case??

    - by Leem
    I would like to divide my screen into 4 equal areas like ?.Each one of the four area is a linear layout. I tried to use relative layout to hold four linear layout like below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/up_left_area" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="#ffff66" > <TextView android:id="@+id/label1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="UP LEFT"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/up_right_area" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/up_left_area" android:background="#ccffff"> <TextView android:id="@+id/label2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="UP RIGHT"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/down_left_area" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_below="@id/up_left_area" android:background="#66cc33" > <TextView android:id="@+id/label3" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="DOWN LEFT"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/down_right_area" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_below="@id/up_right_area" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/down_left_area" android:background="#cc6600"> <TextView android:id="@+id/label4" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="DOWN RIGHT"/> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout> With the above xml layout code, I do get 4 areas on the screen, but they are not equal sized. How to modify my code to have equal sized 4 areas on the screen like ? ?

  • Android's EditText is hidden when the virtual keyboard is shown and a SurfaceView is involved

    - by Jan
    I have a simple user interface: an EditText should be located below a SurfaceView. I use a RelativeLayout to arrange these two views. Now, when I tap on the EditText to open the virtual keyboard the SurfaceView slides up but the EditText is hidden and does not show the typed string. To reproduce, use the following layout XML code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout01" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <SurfaceView android:id="@+id/SurfaceView01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> </SurfaceView> <EditText android:id="@+id/EditText01" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:selectAllOnFocus="true" android:textStyle="normal" android:singleLine="true"> </EditText> </RelativeLayout> The main Activity class only needs to show the layout. When I start the program and tap the EditText, the virtual keyboard appears but the EditText field is gone. Maybe the RelativeLayout is causing the problems, but I don't know how to reproduce the same layout with another Layout class. Any suggestions are welcome, I really appreciate your help. Thanks. Edit: Here are two screenshots, one showing the EditText at the bottom without virtual keyboard, one with virtual keyboard but with no EditText. It is interesting to note that the SurfaceView and the EditText actually shift upward, the EditText just disappears. BTW this also happens to a button if it is next to the EditText. EditText below a SurfaceView (left); EditText is gone (right)

  • Android: failed to setContentView when switching to ListActivity

    - by Yang
    This is an follow-up issue on my previous question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2548304/android-which-view-should-i-use-for-showing-text-and-image I read the article about creating ListView for LinearLayout. However, my following code failed at the setContentView() function when I changed "extends Activity" to "extends ListActivity", any idea why? private TextView mSelection; //private ImageView mImages; static final String[] keywords = new String[]{"China", "Japan", "USA", "Canada"}; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.contactLayout); mSelection = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.ContactNames); ArrayAdapter adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.contactlayout, R.id.ContactNames,keywords); setListAdapter(adapter); } My Layout is from this article: http://www.curious-creature.org/2009/02/22/android-layout-tricks-1/ <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="?android:attr/listPreferredItemHeight" android:padding="6dip"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/icon" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_marginRight="6dip" android:src="@drawable/icon" /> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ContactNames" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:text="My Application" /> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="marquee" android:text="Simple application that shows how to use RelativeLayout" /> </LinearLayout>

  • Resource not found using library project in Android

    - by hgpc
    I'm converting an existing project into a library project. I configured the original project as a library project and added an application project which references the original project as a library. The library project has an activity (MainActivity) and its layout (main.xml). The application project declares this activity as the main activity in the manifest like this: <activity android:name="com.example.MainActivity" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> When I run the application project I get the following error... android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x7f030002 ...on the following line of the onCreate method of the main activity: setContentView(R.layout.main); 0x7f030002 is the ID of R.layout.main in the library project. The application project has no main resource. If I run the original project I don't get this error. Both projects neither have compilation errors nor warnings and are built with Android 2.2 with min SDK version 3. What might be the problem?

Code on click is: Intent intent = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), TabBActivity.class); startActivity(intent); My manifest file is following: <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0"> <application android:icon="@drawable/app_icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:debuggable="true"> <activity android:name=".SplashScreen" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name=".TabAActivity"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="com.TabAActivity" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name=".TabAListActivityA" android:label="AA"/> <activity android:name=".TabAListActivityB" android:label="AB"/> <activity android:name=".TabAListActivityC" android:label="AC"/> <activity android:name=".TabBActivity" android:label="B"/> <activity android:name=".TabAListBctivityA" android:label="BA"/> <activity android:name=".TabAListBctivityB" android:label="BB"/> <activity android:name=".TabAListBctivityC" android:label="BC"/> </application> </manifest> Is my manifest correct or maybe something is wrong with code? I would appreciate any help on this topic.

  • How do I style buttons in a LinearLayout like a ListView

    - by Mannaz
    I have a vertically orientated LinearLayout with some Buttons in it: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/bt1" android:text="Button 1"></Button> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/bt2" android:text="Button 2"></Button> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/bt3" android:text="Button 3"></Button> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/bt4" android:text="Button 4"></Button> </LinearLayout> and I want this "List" of buttons to inherit the current style for ListView items. This is my current status of the stylesheet. The CKButton style gets applied over the Activity Theme. <style name="CKButton" parent="android:style/Widget.Button"> <item name="android:textSize">21sp</item> <item name="android:layout_margin">0dip</item> <!--<item name="android:background">@drawable/button_background</item>--> <item name="android:textColor">@color/button_text_normal</item> <item name="android:padding">10dip</item> <item name="android:gravity">left|center_horizontal</item> </style> As you see I tried to draw the button background myself, but depending on the system default theme the background-color changes and therefore defining a static color is not an option. Is there a way to inherit the default ListView Row background within that buttons?

  • findViewById undefined

    - by areyling
    Eclipse is marking findViewById(int) as undefined; it was doing the same thing for getResources(), but I was able to get around that by calling context.getResources() instead (as seen below) and can't seem to find a similar workaround for findViewById. Here is the code: package com.myapp.android.MyWidget; import android.appwidget.AppWidgetProvider; import android.appwidget.AppWidgetManager; import android.content.Context; import android.content.ComponentName; import android.content.pm.PackageManager; import android.content.res.Resources; import android.util.Log; import android.view.View; import android.widget.RemoteViews; import android.widget.Button; import android.os.Bundle; public class MyWidget extends AppWidgetProvider { private static String[] states; @Override public void onEnabled(Context context) { final Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.widget_state_button); states = context.getResources().getStringArray(R.array.states); } Is there another package I need to import for findViewById? Thanks in advance.

  • Android: ScrollView in flipper

    - by Manu
    I have a flipper: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/ParentLayout" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" style="@style/MainLayout" > <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/FlipperLayout" style="@style/FlipperLayout"> <ViewFlipper android:id="@+id/viewflipper" style="@style/ViewFlipper"> <!--adding views to ViewFlipper--> <include layout="@layout/home1" android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal" /> <include layout="@layout/home2" android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal" /> </ViewFlipper> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> The first layout,home1, consists of a scroll view. What should I do to distinguish between the flipping gesture and the scrolling? Presently: if I remove the scroll view, I can swipe across if I add the scroll view, I can only scroll. I saw a suggestion that I should override onInterceptTouchEvent(MotionEvent), but I do not know how to do this. My code, at this moment, looks like this: public class HomeActivity extends Activity { -- declares @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { -- declares & preliminary actions LinearLayout layout = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.ParentLayout); layout.setOnTouchListener(new OnTouchListener() { public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { if (gestureDetector.onTouchEvent(event)) { return true; } return false; }}); @Override public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { gestureDetector.onTouchEvent(event); return true; } class MyGestureDetector extends SimpleOnGestureListener { @Override public boolean onFling(MotionEvent e1, MotionEvent e2, float velocityX, float velocityY) { // http://www.codeshogun.com/blog/2009/04/16/how-to-implement-swipe-action-in-android/ } } } Can anybody please guide me in the right direction? Thank you.

  • How to add controls to a Tab Layout in Android?

    - by chobo2
    Hi I am following this tutorial http://developer.android.com/intl/de/guide/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html and have completed it. Now I would actually like to add you know some controls to these tabs like textboxes(text edit). How do I do this? I go to my mail.xml using eclipse as my ide and go to layout view and I now get a NullPointerException so I can't even drag stuff onto the layout anymore. Thanks Edit This is what I have <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TabHost xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/tabhost" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TabWidget android:id="@android:id/tabs" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <FrameLayout android:id="@android:id/tabcontent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:id="@+id/textview1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="this is a tab" /> <EditText android:text="" android:id="@+id/EditText01" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:password="true"></EditText> </LinearLayout> <TextView android:id="@+id/textview2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="this is another tab" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textview3" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="this is a third tab" /> </FrameLayout> </LinearLayout> </TabHost>

  • Multiple choice list with custom view?

    - by Po
    I've seen example com.example.android.apis.view.List11 from ApiDemos. In that example, each row takes the view android.R.simple_list_item_multiple_choice. Each such view has a TextView and a CheckBox. Now I want each view to have 2 TextView's and 1 CheckBox, somewhat similar to the List3 example. I tried creating a custom layout file row.xml like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <CheckBox android:id="@+id/checkbox" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/text_name" android:textSize="13px" android:textStyle="bold" android:layout_toLeftOf="@id/checkbox" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/text_phone" android:textSize="9px" android:layout_toLeftOf="@id/checkbox" android:layout_below="@id/text_name" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </RelativeLayout> Then in Activity.onCreate(), I do like this: public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); // Query the contacts mCursor = getContentResolver().query(Phones.CONTENT_URI, null, null, null, null); startManagingCursor(mCursor); ListAdapter adapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.row, mCursor, new String[] { Phones.NAME, Phones.NUMBER}, new int[] { R.id.text_name, R.id.text_phone }); setListAdapter(adapter); getListView().setChoiceMode(ListView.CHOICE_MODE_MULTIPLE); } The result kind of looks like what I want, but it looks like the list doesn't know which item of it is selected. Also, I need to click exactly on the checkbox. In the List11 example, I only need to click on the item row. So what do I need to do to make a multiple choice list with my custom view for each row? Many thanks.

  • Android ScrollView Not Scrolling Correctly

    - by user3133534
    I've been making my way through thenewboston's android tutorials and I'm stuck on number 35. There is supposed to be a scroll bar that takes up a weight of 30 at the top of the app. There are 6 textview/edittext field groups in the code, but I deleted 5 for simplicity. My problem is that all of the text and text boxes appear on the page and are not confined to the given weight (they all just show up on the page). Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Please, I'm new to stackoverflow. If you think this is a stupid question, please explain to me why and how I can ask it better. Here is what it looks like: http://imgur.com/gJmOgqk <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" android:weightSum="100" > <ScrollView android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_weight="30" > <LinearLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" > <TextView android:id="@+id/textView1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="TextView" /> <EditText android:id="@+id/editText1" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:ems="10" > </EditText> </LinearLayout> </ScrollView> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_weight="40" android:orientation="vertical" > <Button android:id="@+id/button1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Button" /> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_weight="30" android:orientation="vertical" > <AnalogClock android:id="@+id/analogClock1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout>

  • JSON and jQuery.ajax

    - by Andreas
    Hello, im trying to use the jQuery UI autocomplete to communitate with a webservice with responseformate JSON, but i am unable to do so. My webservice is not even executed, the path should be correct since the error message does not complain about this. What strikes me is the headers, response is soap but request is json, is it supposed to be like this? Response Headersvisa källkod Content-Type application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8 Request Headersvisa källkod Accept application/json, text/javascript, */* Content-Type application/json; charset=utf-8 The error message i get is as follows (sorry for the huge message, but it might be of importance): soap:ReceiverSystem.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Xml.XmlException: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1. at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(String res, String arg) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseRootLevelWhitespace() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseDocumentContent() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read() at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Read() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.SoapEnvelopeReader.Read() at System.Xml.XmlReader.MoveToContent() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.SoapEnvelopeReader.MoveToContent() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocolHelper.GetRequestElement() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.Soap12ServerProtocolHelper.RouteRequest() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.RouteRequest(SoapServerMessage message) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.Initialize() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.ServerProtocolFactory.Create(Type type, HttpContext context, HttpRequest request, HttpResponse response, Boolean& abortProcessing) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- This is my code: $('selector').autocomplete({ source: function(request, response) { $.ajax({ url: "../WebService/Member.asmx", dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", type: "POST", data: JSON.stringify({prefixText: request.term}), success: function(data) { alert('success'); }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown){ alert('error'); } }) }, minLength: 1, select: function(event, ui) { } }); And my webservice looks like this: [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] [ScriptService] public class Member : WebService { [WebMethod(EnableSession = true)] [ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)] public string[] GetMembers(string prefixText) { code code code } } What am i doing wrong? • ListView item background via custom selector

    - by Gil
    Is it possible to apply a custom background to each Listview item via the list selector? The default selector specifies @android:color/transparent for the state_focused="false" case, but changing this to some custom drawable doesn't affect items that aren't selected. Romain Guy seems to suggest in this answer that this is possible. I'm currently achieving the same affect by using a custom background on each view and hiding it when the item is selected/focused/whatever so the selector is shown, but it'd be more elegant to have this all defined in one place. For reference, this is the selector I'm using to try and get this working: <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_focused="false" android:drawable="@drawable/list_item_gradient" /> <!-- Even though these two point to the same resource, have two states so the drawable will invalidate itself when coming out of pressed state. --> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_enabled="false" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/list_selector_background_disabled" /> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_enabled="false" android:drawable="@drawable/list_selector_background_disabled" /> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/list_selector_background_transition" /> <item android:state_focused="false" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/list_selector_background_transition" /> <item android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/list_selector_background_focus" /> </selector> And this is how I'm setting the selector: <ListView android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:listSelector="@drawable/list_selector_background" /> Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Confused about home screen widget size in normal screen and larget screen

    - by kknight
    I am designing a home screen widget. The widget layout file is like below. <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/widget" android:layout_width="240dip" android:layout_height="200dip" android:background="@drawable/base_all" /> I ran this widget on a HTC Hero device, which has a screen of 320 pixels * 480 pixels with mdpi. It ran perfect on HTC Hero. The widget takes 3 cells * 2 cells space, i.e. 240 pixels * 200 pixels. Then I ran this widget on a Nexus One device, which has a screen of 480 pixels * 800 pixels, mdpi. Since Nexus One also is mdpi, so I though 240dip is equivalent to 240 pixels on Nexus One and 200dip is equivalent to 200 pixels on Nexus One, so the widget will not take 3 cells * 2 cells space on Nexus One device. To my surprise, when running on Nexus One device, the widget take exact 3 cells * 2 cells, about 360 pixels * 300 pixels, on Nexus One device. I am confused. The layout xml above specifies 240dip in width and 200dip in height for the widget, but why did it take 360 pixels * 300 pixels on Nexus One Device? What am I missing? Thanks.

  • How do I fix: InvalidOperationException upon Session timeout in Ajax WebService call

    - by Ngm
    Hi All, We are invoking Asp.Net ajax web service from the client side. So the JavaScript functions have calls like: // The function to alter the server side state object and set the selected node for the case tree. function JSMethod(caseId, url) { Sample.XYZ.Method(param1, param2, OnMethodReturn); } function OnMethodReturn(result) { var sessionExpiry = CheckForSessionExpiry(result); var error = CheckForErrors(result); ... process result } And on the server side in the ".asmx.cs" file: namespace Sample [ScriptService] class XYZ : WebService { [WebMethod(EnableSession = true)] public string Method(string param1, string param2) { if (SessionExpired()) { return sessionExpiredMessage; } . . . } } The website is setup to use form based authentication. Now if the session has expired and then the JavaScript function "JSMethod" is invoked, then the following error is obtained: Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.Net.WebServiceFailedException: The server method 'Method' failed with the following error: System.InvalidOperationException-- Authentication failed. This exception is raised by method "function Sys$Net$WebServiceProxy$invoke" in file "ScriptResource.axd": function Sys$Net$WebServiceProxy$invoke { . . . { // In debug mode, if no error was registered, display some trace information var error; if (result && errorObj) { // If we got a result, we're likely dealing with an error in the method itself error = result.get_exceptionType() + "-- " + result.get_message(); } else { // Otherwise, it's probably a 'top-level' error, in which case we dump the // whole response in the trace error = response.get_responseData(); } // DevDiv 89485: throw, not alert() throw Sys.Net.WebServiceProxy._createFailedError(methodName, String.format(Sys.Res.webServiceFailed, methodName, error)); } So the problem is that the exception is raised even before "Method" is invoked, the exception occurs during the creation of the Web Proxy. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem

  • Android: SharedPreference: Defaults not set at startup...

    - by Allan
    I have Listpreferences in my app. They don't appear to be setting to their defaults right after installation - they appear to be null. I'm trying to figure out why my default preferences are not being set right after installation. In my main code I have: SharedPreferences sp = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); InUnits = sp.getString("List1", "defValue"); InAngs = sp.getString("List2", "defValue"); OutUnits = sp.getString("List3", "defValue"); OutAngs = sp.getString("List4", "defValue"); Right after the above code executes, each variable contains "defValue" instead of the actual values I have assigned in my ListPreference below. My preference xml file is called, "settings.xml". Here's what one of the ListPreferences there looks like: <ListPreference android:key="List1" android:title="Input: Alph" android:summary="Choose Alph or Ralph" android:entries="@array/inputAlph" android:entryValues="@array/input_Alph_codes" android:dialogTitle="Input Alph" android:defaultValue="ININ"/> Here's what some of my strings.xml file looks like: <string-array name="inputUnits"> <item>Alph</item> <item>Ralph</item> </string-array> <string-array name="input_Alph_codes"> <item>ININ</item> <item>INMM</item> </string-array> When I go to menu, and then settings, I can see my defaults checked (radiobuttoned). Then when I go back from the settings menu to my main screen - all is well - for life! ...then each var above is assigned the proper default value. This only happens when I first install my app on the phone. After I go to the settings screen once and then right out of it, the app is fine and accepts any setting changes. By the way, as you can see, "List1" is the android:key within a file called settings.xml in my res/xml folder.

  • Click in a ListView item changes status of elements inside the item?

    - by Antonio
    Hi, I don't know exactly how to explain this problem, but I'll try. I have a ListView with several items. Each item has inside a TextView and two ImageView. I want the ImageView change when I click on them, and I want to open a context menu when I press for a long time into the ListView item. For the ImageView, everything works properly. For the whole item, I can show the context menu after a long press, but my problem is that the ImageView changes as well when I am pressing the TextView, for example. Somo pieces of my code: ListView item: <TextView android:id="@+id/title" android:textColor="@color/black" android:maxLines="2" android:textSize="14dip" /> <ImageView android:id="@+id/minus" android:src="@drawable/minusbutton" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:gravity="center" /> <ImageView android:id="@+id/plus" android:src="@drawable/plusbutton" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:gravity="center" /> Drawable to change the status of the plus button: <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_enabled="false" android:drawable="@drawable/button_add_normal_disabled" /> <item android:state_enabled="true" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_add_pressed" /> <item android:state_enabled="true" android:state_focused="true" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/button_add_active" /> <item android:state_enabled="true" android:state_focused="false" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/button_add_normal" /> I hope you understand my problem. I think that all the children of a view are affected by an event in the parent, but I am not sure. Do you have a solution? Thanks in advance
