    I have started using MVVM pattern recently. I have had several projects where I used it and with every new one, I start to see that it will fit great within that new project. And now I start to ask myself are there situation when it's better NOT to use MVVM. Or is it such a nice pattern which you can use anywhere? Could you please describe several scenarios where MVVM wouldn't be the best choice?

  • How to create picture slideshows in a rails project? Flash or otherwise

    In a rails project how would I create a picture slideshow? It could be generated as flash or use prototype or something else. I just want a series of images (as a sub-part of a web page, not be the whole page) to fade into each other, and to advance manually if clicked. It would be nice if I could do things like slowly zoom into the images I imagine there must be a plugin or something to handle this?

    Hey guys! Any Alfresco experts out there? I have created a document type in Alfresco and am trying to associate it with an image -- Somehow. I don't really mind how it's done - an image uploader in the metadata section when saving the actual document would be nice, but I can live with having to upload the image first and then associating it somehow with the document. Any ideas..?

    Hey, I want to use a method of an object. Like $myObject->helloWorld(). However there are a couple of methods so I loop through an array of method names and call the method like this: my $methodName ="helloWorld"; $myObject->$methodNames; This works quite nice but some objects don't have all methods. How can I tell wether $myObject has a method called helloWorld or not?

I have found a few that are quite nice, but one of my requirements is that I can provide a json/xml/etc source of available days/times and the control should only allow selections of available days/times. Is anyone aware of a plugin that does this, or at least a plugin that could be modified to do this? Thanks!

    I'm learning Ruby on Rails. I'm using some associations (has_many :through, ...) But i'm having some problems with it when i'm combining my views. How exactly do i combine these nested forms? Can i do this with partial forms and where do i have to write extra code for this? I have seen examples only use the "view" and others also edit the controller.... An example would be very nice :-)

    In PHP you can create form elements with names like: category[1] category[2] or even category[junk] category[test] When the form is posted, category is automatically turned into a nice dictionary like: category[1] => "the input value", category[2] => "the other input value" Is there a way to do that in Django? request.POST.getlist isn't quite right, because it simply returns a list, not a dictionary. I need the keys too.

    I've got to a point where i want to start using version control for my project. Mainly for reverting to previous versions of files if things go belly up, doing diff comparisons. Nothing major. I want something that integrates well with visual studio, and something thats relatively simple to setup. - prefereably with a link to a tutorial for setting up would be nice.     Hi, Does anyone know a good way to debug errors in the Visual Studio Designer? In our project we have tons of UserControls and many complex forms. For the complex ones, the Designer often throws various exceptions which doesn't help much and was wondering if there's some nice way to figure out what has gone wrong.     Hi I am using a pool of 5 with jquery. So only 5 notifications should be shown. I think it would be nice to have maybe under the "close all" button to have a count like shown 5 of 20 notifications. To me it could get confusing if I keep closing notifications and new ones keep poping up. I might think there is some sort of problem with the site. Anyone know how to do this?
