  • Trying to run psexec to remote to server and recycle app pool

    If I run this from my command prompt it works fine. psexec \ServerName cscript.exe iisapp.vbs /a AppName /r I'm trying to do the same thing with C# console app. I'm using the below code but most of the time the application hangs and doesn't complete, and the few times it does it throws an error code. Am I doing this wrong?   • Adobe Flex, loading a remote swf

    I have a flex app running on my server. I have had a request from some clients to have the swf loaded on their server, so that their customers dont have to be transferred to my server to login; i.e. from the user's point of view it looks like they are logging in from theirsite.com instead of mysite.com I tried something really simple, and that was to give them a html wrapper to host on their site. The only modification that I made was to change the "src" var to: "src", "https://www.mysite.com/app/myapp.swf" and embed src="https://www.mysite.com/app/myapp.swf" To my surprise, this worked perfectly. And best of all, the service calls still seem to come from mysite.com, so I dont have to bother with modifying the crossdomain.xml file. All good it seems. Are there any issues or downsides to the above that I should be aware of?

    Hello, I have installed Oracle XE on my Development machine and it is working fine. Then I installed Oracle XE client on my Test machine which is also working fine and I can access Development PC database from Browser. Now, I want to create an ASP.Net application which can access that Oracle XE database. I tried it too, but it always shows me an error on my TEST machine to connect database to the Development Machine using ASP.Net.   • Android Remote Video with Titanium

    Greetings all! I'm trying to play a video that is hosted on our webserver on an android phone. I've already built this for iPhone and it works great. Droid, however is a different issue. Instead of getting video, I'm just getting a black screen, no error or anything. The code I am using is: activeContent = Titanium.Media.createVideoPlayer({ contentURL: content, backgroundColor:'#111', movieControlMode:Titanium.Media.VIDEO_CONTROL_DEFAULT }); win.add(activeContent); activeContent.play(); The video I'm downloading does play on the droid when not using Titanium, so I know its not a format issue. (its an .MP4 incase anyone is wondering.) I've used Titanium SDK's 1.5.1 and am on the continuous build of 1.6.0 from earlier today. using the 2.2 Droid SDK, and Titanium Developer 1.2.2 Does anyone have any thoughts on this? One of the big selling points for android is its ability to pull media from the net, and I'm honestly a little concerned about this shortcoming if its an issue with Titanium.

But when the file is residing on another server, the problem creeps in. Below is how I modify the flashvars. <param name="flashvars" value="autostart=false&content=http://myxyzsite.com/Private/Media/funny.mp4&color=0x000000,0x000000" /> This article explains how to load files from another server. When I point to this URL (http://myxyzsite.com/Private/Media/funny.mp4) in my browser directly, Open/Save dialog box is popped up. So the file exists. Should I set any HTTP headrs, say Content-Disposition to Attachment?

Since I might want to tell my app to use a different URL for its data source, I'd like to set up a single "Command Central" Web page, on my own server, to direct the app to the correct data source. In other words, each time my app starts, in the background and unseen by the user, it would visit "http://www.myserver.com/iphoneapp_data_sources.xml" to retrieve the URL for retrieving data from my vendor. That way, if my vendor suddenly changes the exact URL or the XML feed that the app needs, I can update that Web page and ensure that all installations of the app are using the correct XML feed. Does anyone have any advice or examples showing this kind of approach? It seems as if this must be a common problem, but so far I haven't found a well-established design pattern that fits it.

  • Remote desktop connection to Raspberry Pi without specifying a port

    I have a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian Wheezy connected in "Site A", where the network is managed by a third party company and where all ports are closed the the Internet (for security reasons). So, there is no way for me to do any port forwarding to VNC, nor SSH or anything else. That means I just can't access it in any way other than locally, on-site. However, I need to connect to that device on the X Desktop session (graphical interface) to do some maintenance, and I am located in let's say "Site B", which is nearly 300 miles away from site A. I know you can do such tasks on Windows or x86 Linux computers with TeamViewer (we use it for our other hardware in the same location and it works like a charm), but since the Raspberry Pi is based on an ARM architecture, it isn't supported by TeamViewer yet. If anyone has ever achieved this, I would be glad to hear how to do it! Thanks!

I've tried removing the +followSymlinks line, even the rewrite engine line. I haven't tried removing the conditions cause I don't think I should have to, I'm probably wrong.

    Sheesh talk about limited information! I'm trying to get my Android application to connect to an online database to access information. There's quite a bit of info including geotags and these are going to be mapped on my app. The developer site has the very informative piece of information: You can use the network (when it's available) to store and retrieve data on your own web-based services. To do network operations, use classes in the following packages: java.net.* android.net.* Like I said in my previous question, I'm still very much an android newbie, and trying to remember my java oop from college is slow. Does anyone have an example of how this might work, or how I could implement it? I wouldn't mind even connecting to a local xml file, if I could find a good example of how to do that!?   • Windows Service on NetworkService account can't access remote (shared) directory

    I'm trying to remotely access a shared folder with a Windows Service set to NetworkService account permissions. However, I get errors when I try to do this, e.g. Directory.Exists(servicePath) returns false, FileSystemWatcher doesn't recognize activity in the directory. If I change the service's account to LocalSystem, these methods work. I don't want to give the service root-level access, though. It seems to be a permissions problem, so how can I give the service permission to access the directory and monitor it?

  • How does everyone set up AWS for PHP with a git workflow while worrying about distributing EC2?

    Hello, I have been looking for something like heroku but for php, and after much frustration (and almost finding what I need, but not quite) we decided to just go with AWS without any other abstraction. We are using PHP 5.3 (and CakePHP 1.3), and are currently using git. Ubuntu seems like the easiest way to get both of those on there and we will most likely use that. We aren't really going worry about outgoing email. We are using smtp through gmail, but will most likely switch to some other service eventually. I had 3 questions: 1) I have been looking at Zend Server, and I am not quite sure how that is more beneficial than xampp. Perhaps it is not? 2) I suppose to make the application scale we would need multiple instances of some ec2 ami. Then just duplicate it and such. The question then becomes how do we make sure all EC2 instances are up to date? 3) I understand the concept of load balancing to some degree. I understand that in 1 region you select a bunch of servers and have it load balance across them. The question then becomes well how about world wide? How do I make it so that traffic is directed to the correct ec2 server? I have heard of route 53, and tried signing up for that, but nothing appears in my control panel. Also perhaps it is just a DNS thing with my domain registrar? AHHH... some tutorial would be helpful!

  • How do I implement repository pattern and unit of work when dealing with multiple data stores?

    I have a unique situation where I am building a DDD based system that needs to access both Active Directory and a SQL database as persistence. Initially this wasnt a problem because our design was setup where we had a unit of work that looked like this: public interface IUnitOfWork { void BeginTransaction() void Commit() } and our repositories looked like this: public interface IRepository<T> { T GetByID() void Save(T entity) void Delete(T entity) } In this setup our load and save would handle the mapping between both data stores because we wrote it ourselves. The unit of work would handle transactions and would contain the Linq To SQL data context that the repositories would use for persistence. The active directory part was handled by a domain service implemented in infrastructure and consumed by the repositories in each Save() method. Save() was responsible with interacting with the data context to do all the database operations. Now we are trying to adapt it to entity framework and take advantage of POCO. Ideally we would not need the Save() method because the domain objects are being tracked by the object context and we would just need to add a Save() method on the unit of work to have the object context save the changes, and a way to register new objects with the context. The new proposed design looks more like this: public interface IUnitOfWork { void BeginTransaction() void Save() void Commit() } public interface IRepository<T> { T GetByID() void Add(T entity) void Delete(T entity) } This solves the data access problem with entity framework, but does not solve the problem with our active directory integration. Before, it was in the Save() method on the repository, but now it has no home. The unit of work knows nothing other than the entity framework data context. Where should this logic go? I argue this design only works if you only have one data store using entity framework. Any ideas how to best approach this issue? Where should I put this logic?

    I have two remote branches, "grape" and "master". I'm currently on "grape". Now I switch to "master": git checkout master Now I want to pull all changes from "grape" into "master" - is this the way to do it?: git merge origin grape It's my understanding that git will then pull all the current state of the remote branch "grape" into my local copy of "master". It will try to auto-merge for me. If there are conflicts, the files in conflict will have some conflict text actually injected into the file. I then have to go into those files, and delete the chunk I don't want (essentially telling git how to merge these files). For each file in conflict, do I add and commit the changes again?: git add problemfile1.txt git commit -m "Fixed merge conflict." git add problemfile2.txt git commit -m "Fixed another merge conflict." ... after I've fixed all the merge conflicts like above, do I just push to "master" again to finish up the process?: git push origin master or is there something else we need to do when we get into this conflict state?   • Remotely managing Scheduled Tasks on another computer: Access Denied

    I need to remotely create new scheduled tasks from a Windows 7 computer in my company (which according to this Microsoft TechNet article I should be able to do. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766266.aspx ) From within Task Scheduler, on the menu I click Action Connect to another Computer. I browse for the remote computer's name (I use Check Names to verify that the name is correct) and then I check 'Connect as another user' and enter \Administrator and the local admin password. Whenever I try this, I get the error message Task Scheduler: You do not have permission to access this computer Firewall isn't the problem I am able to use Remote Desktop with this username & password combo, so I would expect it to work when remotely managing as well. The remote computer has firewall exceptions for Remote Scheduled Tasks Management, Remote Service Management, and Remote Desktop among other things. Heck, I even tried turning off the firewall for that individual computer and it still didn't work. More details: I have administrative remote access to several other Windows 7 Enterprise computers, though I log in as the local Administrator (whose administrative rights are only recognized by that local machine, not by the domain). The computer I am managing from is on the domain, and also has administrative rights that are recognized on the domain. More experimentation: If I go the other way around and remote-desktop into the other machine and from there open task scheduler then 'connect to another computer', I am able to connect back to my main computer using the username & password that is recognized by an administrator on the domain, and successfully schedule a task on my main computer. So it's not a company firewall issue that's preventing anything from working. The only permissions requirement Microsoft talks about is "The user credentials that you use to connect to the remote computer must be a member of the Administrators group on the remote computer". I'm logging in as an Administrator on each of the local machines, so why doesn't it work?

  • How Do I Restrict Repository Access via WebSVN?

    I have multiple subversion repositories which are served up through Apache 2.2 and WebDAV. They are all located in a central place, and I used this debian-administration.org article as the basis (I dropped the use of the database authentication for a simple htpasswd file though). Since then, I have also started using WebSVN. My issue is that not all users on the system should be able to access the different repositories, and the default setup of WebSVN is to allow anyone who can authenticate. According to the WebSVN documentation, the best way around this is to use subversion's path access system, so I looked to create this, using the AuthzSVNAccessFile directive. When I do this though, I keep getting "403 Forbidden" messages. My files look like the following: I have default policy settings in a file: <Location /svn/> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/lib/svn/repository Order deny,allow Deny from all </Location> Each repository gets a policy file like below: <Location /svn/sysadmin/> Include /var/lib/svn/conf/default_auth.conf AuthName "Repository for sysadmin" require user joebloggs jimsmith mickmurphy </Location> The default_auth.conf file contains this: SVNParentPath /var/lib/svn/repository AuthType basic AuthUserFile /var/lib/svn/conf/.dav_svn.passwd AuthzSVNAccessFile /var/lib/svn/conf/svnaccess.conf I am not fully sure why I need the second SVNParentPath in default_auth.conf, but I just added that today as I was getting error messages as a result of adding the AuthzSVNAccessFile directive. With a totally permissive access file [/] joebloggs = rw the system worked fine (and was essentially unchanged), but as I soon as I start trying to add any kind of restrictions such as [sysadmin:/] joebloggs = rw instead, I get the 'Permission denied' errors again. The log file entries are: [Thu May 28 10:40:17 2009] [error] [client 89.100.219.180] Access denied: 'joebloggs' GET websvn:/ [Thu May 28 10:40:20 2009] [error] [client 89.100.219.180] Access denied: 'joebloggs' GET svn:/sysadmin What do I need to do to get this to work? Have configured apache wrong, or is my understanding of the svnaccess.conf file incorrect? If I am going about this the wrong way, I have no particular attachment to my overall approach, so feel free to offer alternatives as well. UPDATE (20090528-1600): I attempted to implement this answer, but I still cannot get it to work properly. I know most of the configuration is correct, as I have added [/] joebloggs = rw at the start and 'joebloggs' then has all the correct access. When I try to go repository-specific though, doing something like [/] joebloggs = rw [sysadmin:/] mickmurphy = rw then I got a permission denied error for mickmurphy (joebloggs still works), with an error similar to what I already had previously [Thu May 28 10:40:20 2009] [error] [client 89.100.219.180] Access denied: 'mickmurphy' GET svn:/sysadmin Also, I forgot to explain previously that all my repositories are underneath /var/lib/svn/repository UPDATE (20090529-1245): Still no luck getting this to work, but all the signs seem to be pointing to the issue being with path-access control in subversion not working properly.   • How can I disable the IR/Remote Control on an HP Laptop?

    I've seen this happen on 2 different HP laptops now. If I try to use them in the same room as a Media Center, the MCE TV remote keeps sending commands to the laptop. This can do anything from wake it up and turn it on to just moving the selection around. There is no obvious way to disable the IR sensor or at least its response to the remote. Does anyone know how to do this?
